Hiii I love your Iruma-kun analyses!! And since you're open to questions I wanted to ask, what do you think about Kirio and his relationship with Iruma and his ambitions?
damn, i knew someone would ask this LOL. im going to try my hardest to answer this but full disclosure, i have autism and for me, kiriro is a very difficult character to understand because of his morals (or lack there of?) and personality. For me, it's hard to understand people/characters that don't seem to be fully truthful. He's not a fav of mine (im sorry, i know people like him but i can't fully get into him at this moment. maybe if we see him interact more with baal's group.). So i'll try my best! (also i hope yall are ok with frequent posting, i am currently on winter break from college so i have nothing better to do but hyperfixate on this series lol)
Okay, so I think kirio is deeply in love and lust with iruma. I think it's farily obvious he is deeply interested in seeing iruma's "look of despair" in a attracted way, the manga calls him out for being a pervert about it. For Kiriro, Iruma is one of the first characters (besides his childhood friend of course) to ever really be nice to him. He was a friend to him and even if he wasn't being fully truthful with Iruma (like about his true motivations to getting rid of ranks) he did trust iruma with deeply personal information about himself. I think from there is where the obessesion began. Because then, he started to seeing them as kindred spirits who (similarly) went through deeply traumatic experiences in their childhoods, weaker than most, and similar personalities. For the first time, it was like he was being seen by someone (outside of baal). And I think he grew unheathilty attached to that idea of having someone so like him.
That's why I think wanting Iruma see his friends die in front of him was such a big deal for Kiriro. I said this in a different post, but the six fingers operate under the belief that people will all fall to their more primitive selves with the right push. And i think Kiriro wanted that from iruma. he wanted somone even more like him, so deeply intertwined with his experiences. Kiriro's childhood can not be understated, that shit was fucked up. And in turn that fucked him up. Not to say that he couldn't have become the way he is now without his childhood (yes i know, nature vs nurture), but I think the trauma plays a major role in this. He experienced something his brain wasn't able to understand at the time (friend being really heartbroken about the necklace + blaming himself) and according to him, THAT was when he started to long for despair. From there, he wanted another person he perceives as like him to also experience something fucked up so they'll cast away morals too, there by solidifying Iruma's place with Kiriro. Forever fucked up together
Iruma outright rejects that and Kiriro's whole world view is destroyed. Why was this person he considered an equal, a comrad, denying his "affection." His way of making sure they could be together. Kiriro projected too much of himself onto Iruma and by doing so, ignored the things that made them so different from each other fundamentally. And Iruma did the same thing to Kiriro. But Kiriro can't give up Iruma just like Iruma can't give up Kiriro. They want the other in their life but think about the world too differently. So in order to stay together, they both want the other to change, believe their way of thinking and being is better. In this way, I can understand why people ship them together even if I don't. Sort of like a tragic love
What i find interesting is that Kiriro seems to have found his space. He found the connection he was looking for. He is honestly himself (in all his fucked up glory), jokes about his pervertedness, and seems happy. But he can't get rid of the idea of Iruma coming to him. I mean, I don't blame him. It's poetically beautiful how much Kiriro is unapologetically a demon and Iruma is unapologetically a human. At odds but so alike. I think in his own messed up way, the idea of eating iruma is a way of keeping iruma always with him because he now sees he can't force iruma to bend to his ways. And he wants iruma the only way he thinks he can have him. But in the end, even this would end in tragedy.
There isn't really a happy ending to this i believe where all parties are happy. Because if iruma gets his way, ok cool. but kiriro is (at least by this point) too far gone in his belief about demon origins. Kiriro could never be happy, he would need to supress so much of himself for the sake of iruma. And if kiriro gets his way, ok cool. But now he no longer has iruma as an "enemy." the person he felt most alike and connected to is now gone. And I imagine he would just feel empty about that because shit, now he's truly gone and i have nothing else besides the memories
As for his ambitions, I honestly don't understand them besides the iruma part. It feels very, the world hurt me and now i want to see the world hurt too which has been cultivated with his trauma. sorry i can't discuss that part much but thats as far as my autism will grasp. hope you liked this despite that!

Heyyy so I saw you were open to questions and doing commentary!! So I was wondering do you think Azz and Iruma’s relationship is different than Clara’s and Iruma’s? And and also would love to hear any love trio thoughts🙏 tysm !!!!
this is a great question!! as a spoiler, i am deeply in love and invested in the soulmate group and love the connections they have together and on one on one ways. yes! i do think they are different in many ways! Here's a little break down on my thoughts on their relationships :) .Get ready for word vomit, i went overboard
Azz and Iruma: Azz and Iruma relationship is one of deep personal openess. That isn't to say that they leave Clara out of their personal feelings, they do, but both of them lacked the normal carefree freedom as kids. Azz because of his brilliance and Iruma because of his parents.
Due to this, we see they often fall into sharing thoughts and anxieties with each other in their solo interactions. Azz and Iruma have also known each other the longest, at least a week or two went by before meeting Clara. So Azz met Iruma VERY much when Iruma was at his weakest moment, when he was so confused about the world he found himself in. And despite the weridness with their relationship at the start, Azz has always been there with Iruma, he's the third person he ever met here. With Azz having toned down is extreme admiration to Iruma this has made these moments possible between them.
I also don't want to make it seem like they don't joke with each other, we have seen that they do. They have both changed so much when it comes to having fun thanks to Clara. Now, they are able to have a shopping day and be silly. But without Clara to really push the envelope when it comes to fun, they have more calculated fun.
Clara and Iruma: Very much a playful cutesy relationship. (I honestly hope we get more interactions of just the two of them in the future.) Clara represents the childhood Iruma never had, never could have, and therefore allows him to explore childlike wonder. How to open up in more expressive ways, carefree exploration, amd fun to the fullest extent. And by doing so, Clara is able to understand Iruma's moods better than most since we let our guards down completely during moments of pure relaxation.
We see this when Clara immediately saw Iruma was upset and needed to let out his emotions and just be a child. She knows when Iruma is genuinely happy and when he's stressed and doesn't know how to express it. And we have seen that Iruma greatly appreciates Clara for letting him experience and understand playing, something he never had the time to do before. And by being around Iruma, Clara has been able to develop strong moral and logical thinking. Clara has always been a character that is more aware of what's going on then she let's on. But I think the childlike part got in the way of full development in this aspect of her character.
With Iruma, she is able to explore and understand more complex ideas and thinking. One issue with being so isolated like Clara was is that she never got to explore any type of critical reasoning. These things can only be developed by interacting with others. And so, in the beginning Clara was very short sighted and immature. Now, she not only has the love trio, she also has the misfits and it's not clear if she would have been able to create this friend circle without meeting Iruma. She has grown so much as a character and I love seeing her be mature and willing to make sacrifices (putting aside Iruma time because Azz needed it more) while still being chaotically happy.
Love Trio: What can I say that probably hasn't been screamed about in a different post. They are soulmates, deeply connected to each other in every way and bring out the best in each other. They don't "complete" each other, more like they allow for each other to be themselves to the fulllest. They all default to too serious/angry (Azz), too hyper/inconsiderate (Clara) and too in his own way/"yes man" (Iruma) when apart and together, make up for their weaknesses and boost their strengths.
Each of them has been important to the other's growth. They all have their place in the love trio and deeply love their roles too. The love trios relationship is based on deep trust, mutual (and healthy) dependency, and joy. By being with each other, they have created a safe space to allow expressiveness and vulnerablity while still leaving room for fun and happiness.
And it's so cute to see how close and personal they all get. Especially Asmodeus who always felt more standoffish to physical affection in the beginnings, even with Iruma besides a hand of the shoulder. As the story progresses, we see them be more comfortable with each other and that shows in their physical closeness. It's just a wonderful design choice on the artistic side of things and perfect for showing them care more for each other. On a personal note, my headcannon is a queerplatonic poly relationship (though sometimes I ship it as a full on romantic relationship) so it's even cuter to me.
anyway, those are my thoughts and interpretations of the relationships! since this post become super duper large, I will make a seperate post about Azz and Clara and link it in the comments because their relationship is shaping up to be very cute too and not just iruma focused :)

Fuck ok I forgot to include this in my selfishness analysis and it’s VERY crucial I mention this so here’s a part two
One of the things that struck out to me the most in the music festival event was the very first act with Coco. Not only for the stunning art but because the story alludes to Iruma. In the folk story, the humble prince was betrayed by his people and in order to get revenge, must cast away his humility and obtain more greed according to the spirits that found him. While not all of the details fit with Iruma obviously, his greed is what will lead him forwards to the role of a king. In order to be any sort of leader, you need to be selfish in some sort of way. Like I said I’m the last post, this doesn’t have to be a bad thing necessarily. However, politics and social hierarchies thrive on greed. That’s how the cookie crumbles. And in order for Iruma to take up the place of a monarch, he’ll need to get comfortable being greedy. I like that they added that song to the story because it perfectly foreshadows what Iruma will (by choice or forced) to cast aside a good portion of humility in pursuit of leadership. I’m not worried about this though, because he has surrounded himself with demons who he can rely on to tell him when he messed up, could have improved, and praise him when needed. It’s all about a good balance because understanding your capabilities and not getting too big of a head. And in the end Iruma will be Iruma, always striving to do the right thing even in complex situations.

Learning how to be selfish (another iruma focused deep dive. Spoilers for iruma kun manga)
I promise I won’t ONLY focus on iruma as a character. I plan to do a post on many characters and scenes, especially since I have been breezing through the story. As a hobbiest writer and actor, I love to go back and reflect on scenes, read them multiple times, and learn why a character did what they did. And I want to share these thoughts with y’all. It’s just that, I have hit Opera becoming a teacher and decided this is the perfect time to take a pause and reflect on this new side of iruma we are seeing poking through. (And YES I most definitely screamed when they became a teacher, my nonbinary icon.) so yeah, I plan to make a lot of posts, but it’s another iruma only one today. Take a shot every time I say selfish or greedy in this tho, I repeat it so often. No thesaurus is being used today.
Ok, im loving that Iruma is becoming more selfish. I especially loved Iruma telling Purson that he’s learned that it’s ok to do selfish acts and stick with what you want to do rather than doing what people want or expect of you. This is the first sign of Iruma breaking out of just saying yes to things. Saying no can be so difficult, especially if you have lived your entire live thinking that was the only option for you to do. He’s too kind, and trained, so he said yes to basically anything even at the risk of hurting or exhausting himself. I appreciated this moment because Purson similarly doesn’t feel like he has many choices. He loved his family and wants to support the family business, but feel dragged along with the whims of his father.
Though I guess it’s kind of a misnomer to say that the scene with Purson is the “first” time we have heard greedy being applied to Iruma. Amelie was the first person and at first I didn’t fully get what she meant. I think I kind of just dropped that part of the conversation as unimportant. But it’s actually super important for us as the audience to understand his character going forward. At the beginning, Iruma didn’t have a lot of motivations, merely being led by whatever happened in the Netherworld. He was in a manner of speaking, selfless to an unhealthy degree. It was only by learning to set a goal for himself that he started to feel (at least to me) as an active participant to the world at large. And Amelie was the one who inspired that in him in the first place. Amelie was the first one to call him selfish/greedy (to my recollection) which is fitting as the character who pushed him so far.
I also think I should clarify that I don’t use the term selfish in this case as a negative. In fact, I’m happy he is becoming a greedy character. Because Iruma won’t abuse this trait of his. Selfishness without kindness and care is dangerous. Without empathy and compassion, greed quickly turns into cruelty. Iruma has these traits though. He has the morals and love to utilize his selfishness to the fullest. Selfishness and kindness can go hand to hand. In fact, I think this is the best quality for one to have. The desire to strive towards your wants while understanding that you can’t treat the people and environment as expendable. And Iruma has the deadly combination of selfishness, caring, and determination.
Which leads us into the 13’s Dinner in which they talk about food bringing out who a demon really is. I loved this scene because it highlights what people could see on the surface when faced with Iruma’s gluttony (aka greed). Baal said “it’d terrifying to think of what he’d be like as a king” (paraphrasing) but that’s without understanding the core fundamentals of who Iruma is. We see him try to force this idea onto Sabro too, saying iruma is pushing his grandfather’s weight around to turn him against Iruma. That’s just widely untrue. Baal, and honestly so many of the Six Fingers from what we’ve seen so far, believe that people are just like them. That deep down, they are (or could be forced into) the rotten type of selfishness that their group takes pride in. True, people can be forced to do cruel things. That doesn’t mean thats who you are fundamentally however. Baal lacks the love that Iruma is overflowing with. And so he equates selfishness with cruelty. He thinks that if he experiences this certain flavor of the trait, that must mean everyone else experiences it the same way too.
Either way, Iruma is a character that is shaping up to be someone who has many desires. From zero to infinity, And what makes him so likable is that he’s willing to do anything to protect those desires. To protect the life he has built and the people he has come to cherish. He wants it all. His friends, soulmates (and yes you better believe I will post a screaming post about that at some point), Amelie, family, good food, fun, adventure, Balam, Kalego and so much more. He wants everything. And he’s also willing to do anything it takes to protect these desires. More than that, he’s always grateful to the life he has built here, to the people who have opened up their hearts to, and for the beautiful home he has created. And that’s the reason why I can’t wait to see Iruma grow into the wonderful selfish person he deserves to be.

Spoilers for Iruma (manga and show)
I recently got into Iruma through the anime and fell in LOVE with it to the point where I started reading the manga since it’s going to be a bit of a wait for the next season (which I’m fucking excited about because more singing, performance Iruma, more irumi (or iruminati??)). But I have gotten to Walter Park in the manga and fuck dude, I really resonate with Iruma grappling with understanding his feelings.
Throughout the story, it’s iruma trying to break free from the mental and emotional abuse his parents put him through on top of the fucking crazy situations he was forced into. He only had time to think about survival, he never had the chance to even fully develop his own emotions and thoughts. We see this throughout the story of him struggling to develop a normal life in the netherworld despite never having a normal childhood to begin with.
Anger is typically one of the easiest emotions for us to understand. It’s something we just primitively resonate with. Even if all else fails, anger is something we can fall back on. However, Iruma (not only because of his more easy going personality spawned from his parent’s manipulation) has never had the opportunity to feel this because he has already felt like most situational outcomes are hopeless to change anyways so why get mad about it.
That outlook, while it could be healthy depending on the context, is downright dangerous to always feel. If you can’t even let yourself freely understand your anger, you simply let things go without even trying to defend yourself. We see this manifest in season three with Bachiko (though I DO love Bachiko even in the beginning because I support women’s rights and women’s wrongs).
I just find him a curious character to study because while the show is silly goofy most times, so many reaction videos I have watched ignore his deep-seated trauma, mostly because of how cartoonish they make it. But take the cartoon silliness out, and you get a character his is deeply hurt and grasping at understanding his own feelings now that he is finally given the time to experience them.
I’m curious how the romantic relationship stuff will develop because he hasn’t been given the proper time to even interact with kid’s his own age much, especially not people he could be attracted to. As well as seeing his struggle with more complex emotions that he’ll be forced to confront as I read more! (Also please no spoilers in the comments past season three events, I am catching up quickly on my own!)

Consider The Following
The series Welcome To Demon School, Iruma-Kun! is a possible allegory for what it is like living with an invisible disability, with an accepting guardian, but an unaccepting general society.
We have Iruma, who is human, and he's in the Demon World. He doesn't understand much of anything there, and he can't say No when somebody makes a request. But on his orientation day at school, he makes one friend (Alice Asmodeus), who is different from him but they're both strong and he ends up gaining the friend's respect, after accidentally causing trouble. He's put into what is basically a "Special Needs" class because of the trouble caused. (Sound familiar?)
His adoptive grandfather, Sullivan, dotes on him and wants to make him as happy and comfortable as he can, despite his differences, even making him a carriage so he doesn't feel bad about not having wings or magic like his demon schoolmates. (Do you see where I'm going?) He doesn't feel comfortable with this, and so walks to school instead.
Then, when he starts going to school, he meets another friend (Clara), who is different from him, but also similar because she also doesn't have many friends. He enjoys being her friend. Alice has been walking him to school and back, and Clara joins.
Then, when it is time for what is basically a magic and flying exam, Iruma has trouble with it since he can't do either. But, he still does eventually pass, and gets the Ring of Solomon, which absorbs magic and allows Iruma to do magic as well, but because it's hungry, it eats his classmates' magic, until Sullivan comes along, and lets it eat his magic. This is basically Sullivan teaching Iruma how to use a coping mechanism correctly so that he doesn't cause more problems.
Then, when the ring absorbs enough magic and Iruma ranks up enough (Adjusts so he can handle the world better), Iruma gets Alikred, who's like a way he discovers to use his coping mechanism better. But then he goes through his Evil Cycle, which is like him being overwhelmed or overstimulated, and getting grumpy because of it.

So what if Balam's hyperfixation with humans had to do with his ability Buzzer Imagine he was talking about humans with other demons, and when they would tell him that humans don't exist, maybe Buzzer would be somewhat triggered, not enough to signify that the person was lying, but enough to make Balam think that there was something wrong with that statement And you know, being a very curious child and being able to discern what was definitely true from what was definitely false, Balam became fascinated by myths about imaginary beasts, because they mixed together truth and fiction and he had to know, but couldn't
