I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

I've had this little idea in my head for a while now, so I decided to sit down and plot it out.

Disclaimer: This isn't meant to be some sort of One-Worksheet-Fits-All situation. This is meant to be a visual representation of some type of story planning you could be doing in order to develop a plot!

Lay down groundwork! (Backstory integral to the beginning of your story.) Build hinges. (Events that hinge on other events and fall down like dominoes) Suspend structures. (Withhold just enough information to make the reader curious, and keep them guessing.)

the dull noise of a nail file rubbing against a hard surface flooded chips mind like it was what his brain was made out of at all. He focused in, breathing heavily.

its been 11 years since chip "finished transitioning". Even longer since he started doing this in the first place.

Even still, it makes him feel sick to his stomach with nerves.

of course, every time in the past hes been nervous. But he shouldnt be now. Previously, he had understood the anxiety. Worried about his parents finding out, worried about his classmates finding out. Worried about being teased, about being hated, about being called out for everything terribly awf-

"get a hold of yourself haney!" A strike on the wrist leaving a singing linger of pain like a breath on the window snaps him out of it. Chip moves his file to the side of the sink, putting a hand over his heart, trying to catch his heart beat. Remembering his training, remembering how to stay calm. Freak out and your dead. Fail to rationalise, and your dead.

Chip was an big of an egghead in school, sure, but thats not what made him smart. Chip is street smart like nobody else. Able to lie and laugh his way into anyones head, evade cops snd attackers with ease. He's never been as stupid as people think he is, but his real strength is something else entirely.

chip is great with rationalising. Every little thing he does can be broken down to something, unless it cant and he freaks out for no reason, but he tries really hard not to think about that.

Almost a beautiful 90% of the time, chip is rational, and thats what makes him good at his job. Thats what makes him a functioning member of the world.

His ability to make frantically filing down his horns in the middle of the night a normal thing to do. Because he always can. Chip is great at seeming normal.

so he goes back to filling.

And if- maybe on occasion, you were to see him- freak out into an irrational spike of fear and worry over the cracks in the bathroom walls, then maybe your the crazy one after all.

"chhhiiipp?? Is that yoou?"

Chip lurches, fumbling around with his file, jamming it into his hands before twisting to grab the door nob, opening it in a large swing for ellga. Ellgas eyes are smoggy with a tired glaze, sleep still dusted in the corner of her eyes. Ellgas been dealing with all sorts of complicated emotions since the vampspire, but chip didnt feel right being "like a dad" to her anymore. Not that he'd even qualify, but he didn't want to overstep and mess things up with 2 of his teammates now.

"oh... sorry, ellga, do you need to-" he stops, about to call her kiddo but stopping. Ellga frowns. "You can still call me kiddo if you want chip. I dont really care."

"But i care."

"you care about a lot of things i dont understand." She cocks her head as she talks, lugging boris with her to sit on the edge of the tub.

"Really?"

"Yeah. You care too much for a killer." "maybe so. Maybe im not so good at my job, then."

"but you ARE good at your job. Your famous, a little anyhow. Your just... roadblocked."

"oh yeah?" Chip tries to act like his breathing hasn't been a shaky mess the past while. "Yeah. Your always.. i dunno, hopping a fence. Between killer chip and neighbour chip. Sometimes your a killer with a little care for something normal-" she hops a little, her sleep deprivedly buckled mary janes clacking, "and sometimes your normal with a... a little murder. You're always hopping the fence, but i don't think you exactly want to."

"...well i think thats.. a good theory ellga. I got to admit, sometimes its not.. the best being the way i am."

"so which side do you want to be on?"

"im sorry?" Chip raises a brow.

"Do you want to be an assassin, or do you want to be normal? If you weren't always jumping the fence, which side do you want to stand on?"

Chip takes a moment of pause, studying his own face in the mirror. Scared up, his normal clean shave gone, a soft field of gray hair ladened stubble making a home over his chin and cheeks. Bags that seem to go black with the purple tones of his skin, and horns not fully filed.

"im... i dunno.. i'd.. if you'd asked me two weeks ago, i would said normal, and if you asked me yesterday i woulda said assassin. But today i just cant tell ya."

Ellga hums, pulling her skirt down her legs farther to protect from the nights chill. "Why do you shave down your horns?"

"because im not who i act like i am." He answers without thinking.

"what... does that mean? Is it like,., a disguise thing?"

"no. Yes? Sorta. Im not... a man, ellga."

"yes you are. You look like a man. You like to be a man-" she raises an eyebrow and chip nods "soooo? What else is there that makes you any different?"

" my horns curl." Chip says matter of factly, because theres nothing else to be said about it.

"thats stupid." Ellga rolls her eyes shortly, "what does that have to do with anything?"

"well, i used to get teased about it."

"So? You also used to kill people every day. The times change, chip. Keep up." Chip giggles a bit, amused by the matter of factness coming from a child. It then snaps into perspective that ellga is a lot older than chip. She has seen the times change.

"maybe your right...." his hands itch for a moment as he debates the file, screaming to continue filling down to perfection, until they bleed if he needs to-....

"ah what the heck, i let some gray hairs slip through, whats the shame in letting them curl up a little? It'll be fine." Chip laughs, but anxiety pools in his stomach at the idea. Ellga tugs his hand sleepily. "I dont care if you do or dont. Just do whatever makes you feel happy. If it helps you feel more chip, do that. If you dont wanna bother, do that. I just wanna get back to bed, and you were supposed to be my pillow." chip looks between the bathroom and ellga, and sighs. "I think... i'll take a break. It does make me feel more manly but i-..."

"you dont want to be afraid of not doing it?"

"yeah. That. Thank you, ellga."

chip squeezes the smallers hand and sets the file down, and then shuts off the light. It might take a bit to stop doing it. Hell, he might freak out and do it again, but that doesn't matter. Its just some separation.

ellga thinks he's a real man. Mathilde thinks he's a real man. Barney thinks he's a real man.

And thats all that really matters, isn't it?

Chip walks down the hall, laying back down into a big cuddle pile of his team, and sighs.

These people are all that really matter.

and that helps with the fear. Even just a little bit.
