I feel like I'm focusing way too much on Barda and not enough on Jasmine but at the same time Jasmine would NOT talk about her feelings. Or talk much at all. It's honestly hard to insert dialogue for her because she's just. Quiet. I swear I'm not sidelining her. She's just Like That 💀

Seriously genius move on my part to make Ava a major (but optional) character even though she doesn't show up much in canon. But she has so much god damn dialogue.

Fangame wellness check: I'm doing artfight for the first time this year and I've been putting all my drawing efforts into preparing up-to-date, neat-looking references for my characters. However I have been puttering along with some shopkeeper dialogue when I have the time 👍 so progress has not stopped dead.

Urgh I might end up taking a short break in general. There's a lot of personal art I wanna do and a couple books I want to read. It'll be healthy for my writing to stop hearing my own voice for a while lol.

General progress update: I've been having a bit of art block as of late. I've been taking a break from talksprites to do some other personal art, but I'll be getting back to them soon. Next on the script docket is shopkeeper dialogue, which should go a lot quicker since there are only 5 in the game, two of which are very minor NPCs with little to say, and one of which is Steven, who will get his own separate section since he has so much going on. Now: ENJOY THE UPDATE.

Lief unlocks abilities based on which gems he has, while Barda and Jasmine get abilities based on the number of gems total. I think this is probably a better system. Grinding would then have the benefit of getting more money and items but wouldn't make the party stronger.

Honestly thinking about doing away with leveling-up entirely and just having everyone's abilities tied to main-plot progress, not just Lief's.
