This blog is now archived!
If you want to find me, you can just put in the old url to find the new blog. It’s still unfinished so I won’t link to it yet. Once it is, I’ll add it to a queue to run for a week here.

Yeh, I think I will reboot this blog. This one’s gotten really cluttered and I think making a new one will help. So be prepared for that.

“Oh... Oh my, greetings! I wasn’t, ah, expecting a Lightener today...!”
Especially one that wasn’t Kris or Susie! Still, it just made the prince all the more excited. To see other Lighteners was positively exhilarating! He bounced on the back of his paws side-to-side, hands clapping together ecstatically. Ralsei was making no attempt to hide his jubilation at the other’s appearance, it seemed.
“Ah, my manners. I am Ralsei, the Prince of the Dark. Though you can just call me Ralsei! ...O-Or, uhm, whatever you wish to call me, I suppose.”

“Noelle?”
It wasn’t often that Ralsei came to the Light World. He always said it was because of the shift between the two making him queasy and the bright lights nigh-blinding him.
Of course, the truth was that it was far more obvious what he actually was when not shrouded in the natural dark of his kingdom and the surrounding areas. Without the glamour he had to then put on in the daylight, most anyone could discern the goat monster was perhaps not all he was cracked up to be.
Still, even with the masterwork stitching on display if one were to squint at him hard enough, Ralsei was determined to come visit Noelle in order to deliver proper presents to her.
“O-Oh, there you are!” he exclaimed, managing to catch up to her with his little red wagon audibly wheeling behind him. “I, uhm, heard it was... heard it was your birthday, right? Unless I’m quite late, which will be really embarrassing...”
Paws fidgeted with the pink fluff of the bright hoodie that took the place of his robes when he was in the Light World, turning away from the deer so he could procure his offerings on this special day.
“I, uhm, didn’t know what your favorite flavor was so I just made you a chocolate cake. I hope that... that, uh, works!”
With that, he spun back around, presenting the rather sizable box that he’d managed to get the cake into. It was held together with frilly ribbon and string, meaning it would very likely fall open on all sides when she undid the top knot.
“Oh, right, uh, there’s one more thing! Well, er, two! Two, actually.” He quickly corrected, this time moving around his little wagon to reveal his present proper.
The wagon itself seemed to be part of said present given the fact there’s only one object sitting inside of it now. However, that object in and of itself was likely quite the surprise.
There sat a small plush with a striking resemblance to Noelle, roughly the size of a mainline teddy bear. Indeed, it seemed the prince had hand-sewn a plush in the visage of the reindeer, down to the nose that glinted red in the sunlight. It, however, was presented in the clothing that Noelle attained whenever she entered the Dark World.
It was so well made, in fact, that it was near impossible to find the seams and the like on it. He’d certainly put a lot of effort into making it perfect for her.
“I thought, uhm, you’d appreciate the... erm, the reminder of the Dark World? B-Because you seemed to really enjoy it when Kris and Susie t-took you there. I know it’s probably not m-much but I hope you quite like it!”
Fur tinged as pink as his hoodie at his cheeks, which was thankfully nearly perfectly hidden by the fluff of said garment around his head. It did, however, frame his bright and broad smile perfectly in the center of it all.

“...I know, Cedric, you’re doing your best.”
Ralsei watched the cat sit at the table with a quill and parchment. She was scribbling down a story she’d come up with. ...Of course, the doll wasn’t. It just sat where Ralsei had propped her on the chair. She didn’t move. None of them moved. Not anymore, at least. The prince could swear there was a time when they were all moving. When they were all happy and safe.
Now, though, he couldn’t piece together the memories. He had parents, he knew that for sure. One of them was still there, albeit as lifeless as everyone else in his kingdom.
It was always perplexing to Ralsei. Even after he’d realized he too was nothing but a plush doll, well, it had only raised more questions than answered any. Why was he the only one of them given life? The only one that seemed aware of everything around them without Ralsei having to connect to them? How could Ralsei connect with them? Even he wasn’t sure. He could never do it on command but sometimes he swore he actually heard them.
If course, such a thought was positively mad, so he often did his best to ignore it when it inexplicably happened. He couldn’t tell anyone he truly did hear voices, after all. He would just pretend it was make believe. That alone was rather odd to many, sure, but certainly more reasonable than if he said they were all truly alive.
So, face tight into a thin-lipped smile, Ralsei carefully scooped the cat doll up with his animated scarf and carried Cedric back to the home he had designated for her.
