I think being a practical researcher at the magnus Institute would suck but bc I imagine it's a whole lot of nothing and then all of a sudden it's phasmophobia. You're now the sole survivor of your expedition and then when you get back Elias is like "a tragic loss of life, truly- here sign this nda and I'll put you on a mental health leave" and Jon is staring at you like you are the last beef and cheese sandwich in a fallout gas station

Tim and Sasha are my favorite from the batch. Their designs came together the easiest and I feel are the closest to how I see them in my head.

Least favorite to do was Martin. I redrew his face four times and it still feels wrong. I love the character, but god is his design elusive for me.

I just love it that Jonah Magnus spent all his life (more then 200 years) serving the Eye by creating an institute, hopping from body to body, and even by literally starting the Apocalypse, just for the Eye to see Jonathan Sims and make that sad victorian child the Ceaseless Watcher Special Little Boy™

Tma but jurgen's magic book makes it so that no agent of the eye can see him period. Jurgen saves Jon and he's like uhhhhhhhhhhhAAAAAAH. Takes him a while to stop screaming. Elias gets there like "i knew there was som- what" and then its a game of whack a mole where he's chasing that old man around and trying to hit him while not SEEING him

listening to the magnus archives is so fun because there will be this character who has spent his whole life letting other people put him down and just going along with what they said for the fear of being unwanted but when faced with the literal concept of loneliness threatening to overtake him he says “no, no more. i was manipulating YOU.” to this god like creature and it’s such a powerful moment but you can’t take it seriously bc also there’s a man running through a hall somewhere going “MAHHTINNNNN” and also said god like creature is arguing with another god like creature (who is his (ex?) husband) over a fucking BET they made regarding who got to end the world and keep aforementioned character’s boyfriend

So I always headcanoned that Jon got his first grey hair at 8 when he had the Mr Spider encounter and the silvery hairs were actually subtle marks of the Web that led him to the institute. I was a little disappointed it didn’t come out as canon but I still think that’s what it was.

I do love those magnus archives fics where the eye is just in the backs of Jon's and Elias' heads just fact-checking people. Its like

The scene in the Magnus archives that I think shows how human Jon is compared to Elias would have to be when he burns Gerry’s page. It clearly hurts him to burn it, it hurts him to destroy all this knowledge, the same way Martin burning the statement hurt Elias. The difference between the two is that Elias hurts others to stop his own pain, Jon hurt himself to stop Gerry’s pain.
