thonks abt how fristad is kinda like “the place for lovers” which i know is meant to be in reference to charlie and fia but thinking abt how colt and frank spent so much time there together that something in colt still remembers that he Really Liked It There makes me wanna tear my fucking hair out
Um Frank and Colt being canon ex boyfriends just hits different
(sorry for my abysmal cropping skills, this is a new PC and I’m getting used to it still)
And Colt’s little poem?? Thing??
And I’m just now putting it together, but in the beginning, right as Frank’s show starts playing on the radio after Colt wakes up on the beach for the “first” time, his inner monologue (is that the right word? The white text that pops up from [I’m assuming] past Colts) goes “Miss me, babe?”
Idk. Unabashed, unambiguously bi Frank (and Colt) is giving me life. Even a lot of his songs are just bi as hell:
doooooon't talk to me abt the text appearing in The Basement Where They Killed People that spells out that they fucking played Cards while ppl were choking, coughing, bleeding their eyes out on the other side of the glass. they are complicit in this, this is part of their Jobs, they have each other's backs. fuuuuuck me.
i gotta nail down my own take on pre-canon colt/frank before i just go coo coo bananas
between "a fist, a kiss, a moment of bliss" and colt's note on frank stating he has a "mean right hook" im convinced they absolutely brawled for funsies in that way men do bc they dont know how to initiate intimacy without violence and then had a tender kiss after frank got colt Right in the kisser. im right.

as much as i like to hope that colt’s relationship w frank had its cozy moments (screwdrivers at sunset ;-;) those floaty texts about frank being a shark and the violence mentioned (blood on the mic/my teeth) as well as the solemn ‘frank…’ one and the insistence of ‘he’s not your friend’ communicates such a sad confusion to me. i can’t really pin down my feelings or interpretation of Them. which is great and fun tbh, i love spinning mental plates.
it’s just that colt has to seemingly convince himself - via those text bombardments - that frank getting murdered is necessary (he can’t be exempt from the loop breaking plan even if they were previously intimate, put ur feelings aside), if not Right (he toys with people, he manipulates), sometimes suggests a reluctance to let go of their relationship (he’s not your friend anymore) and sometimes suggests a pleaful/severe reminder (he’s not your friend and never was). frank defends him from charlie and consistently sticks up for him, they deal with deserters together, the jilted song over the comms sounds genuinely bitter but there’s such an undertone of ‘this went sour, we weren’t happy, something Fucked Up’ that i find fascinating and heartbreaking. like what’s their whole deal?!
