People who don’t like Edmund clearly have never experienced the pain of growing up with a sibling who seems to be perfect at everything and are always praised by your parents and other people around you, and don’t understand the kind of resentment that can build. 

When I was Edmund’s age I literally used to draw comics of me beating my brother in quizzes/competitions and of people calling him an idiot just to cope. If someone had actually given me a chance to make one of my fantasies come true, or even better than what I ever imagined, a queen of a kingdom loving me so much she made me her heir and cared for my brother so little that she made him my servant, I would’ve jumped at the chance. 

Jadis saw the resentment in Edmund and saw what he wanted most and took advantage of that. He is in no way to be blamed for wanting to be put first for once in his life.
