I'm a firm believer that this is what Andrew looks like a couple years after college when he's on that pro athlete training regimen. My boy is solid!!

obviously I loved tsc for a variety of reasons but chief amongst them is the fact that we got another pov of kevin-day-tapping-his-racket-against-the-floor-and-switching-it-to-his-left-hand-in-the-final-game-against-the-ravens gate. i would relive that moment seven million times if I could. nora could be 60 years old telling the story of someone three generations after kevin and a part of me will still hope the main character finds a way to mention peepaw day's racket switch that rocked the nation. it is simply who i am.

do they? not have? water bottles? no this is important. how do these kids consume water on the daily? they are d1 athletes i refuse to think they all just patiently wait in line to use a fountain during practices and games. and i dont even want to think about how little water neil consumes on the run if he doesnt have a water bottle

I need to pull an Andrew and hold all those people leaving bad reviews on tsc at knifepoint cos what do you MEAN your problem was that it wasn't about Andreil/didn't have enough Andreil in it. If you were online enough to know that a new book was coming out, you were ALSO online enough to know that it was about Jean Moreau. Even if you didn't find out through Tumblr, every place you can buy the book from has a summary section where you can in fact READ what the book is about. Your poor reading comprehension or just mere laziness when it came to finding out what the book was about before starting to read is YOUR problem, not the writer's so don't you dare leave shitty ass reviews without any actual criticism behind them.

If you are watching a TV show, it can be live action or animated.
But not when you're reading a book. Much to think about.

I often wonder what finding out about Kevin must have done to Wymack's memory of Kayleigh.
It's very heartbreaking when I think about it. Because imagine you once loved this woman – romantically, yes, sometimes you are afraid that she was the love of your life and you're never going to feel like that again. But also, in a real way, you loved her because she sort of saved your life. Because your whole life you've fought to show that you're not a waste of space, that you're worth something, and then comes this woman and picks you out of a line-up and says you're right, you're special. She teaches you this sport she created, and through it, you know you are going to be able to make every last one of your dreams come true.
Eventually, you both realize she'll never love you the way you love her, but it's fine, because you'll always have the memories. She dies, not even a decade later, and you're devastated.
Imagine you spend twenty years grieving this woman. You fight tooth and nail to keep your place in the world she left behind, and you finally do it – you start a team for people like you, you handpick your players, and even if they fail on court, you know they just need one more chance.
And then one day her son knocks at your door, broken and desperate, and for the longest time you think that it was because of the name you've made for yourself, being a safe port in a storm. He reminds you of her in all the worst ways, but that's something you can force yourself to bear.
He brings trouble with him, and then he picks out a boy who brings even more, and just when you think you understand the mess your life has become, you find out what is the real reason why her son came to you.
Because this woman you've loved for more than twenty years, whose legacy you've built your life around, never saw you with the same consideration you gave her. No matter what Kayleigh's real motivations might have actually been, the truth is: she knew Kevin was his and she never gave Wymack the chance to decide what he wanted to do about it.
At best, Kayleigh thought she could make such an monumental decision for him, like she knew better than Wymack what was best for his own future. At worst, it shows how little she really thought of him, that she trusted Kevin to Tetsuji Moriyama, of all people in the world, before she trusted him to his own father.
And the thing is – she's dead. He's never going to find out why she did what she did. And suddenly, he can't even trust the memories he had of her anymore, he can't trust he ever really knew her. His entire life was built on something that might as well have been a lie, and he has to keep going anyway.

The King's Men - Chapter Seventeen (19)
Day: Friday, April 26th / 27th* Time: 10:04 PM EST
Neil wishes he could smile, but it takes all his strength just to look at Riko. The Raven captain and Exy King is staring at the scoreboard like he expects it to change. The Foxes are running for each other, still screaming their fool heads off, but the Ravens stand still as stone. It is the first loss in Edgar Allan's history, and they'd fallen to the unlikeliest of opponents. Neil sucks in a deep breath that rips him open on its way down. "I'd ask you how it feels, but I guess you've always known what it's like to be second, you worthless piece of shit." Riko finally drags his gaze away from the board. He stares at Neil, blank-faced and stunned, and then revulsion twists his expression into something terrible. His racquet goes up over his head but it takes Neil a moment to realize Riko really intends to take a swing at him. Dan screams his name from halfway across the court, but there is nothing Neil can do except watch Riko's racquet start down. He barely has the strength to breathe. Dodging is out of the question. Riko's racquet gets close enough that Neil hears wind whistling through the strings, and then a second racquet comes out of nowhere, big and bright and orange. Andrew puts everything he has left behind his swing and catches Riko across his forearm. Bones give a sickening crunch as they shatter. Riko's racquet clatters harmlessly off to one side, and then Riko is the only one screaming. He stumbles a few steps away from them before falling to his knees and holding his arm to his gut. Andrew puts his racquet down in front of Neil like a shield and watches Riko's breakdown with a bored stare.

The King's Men - Chapter Seventeen (19)
Day: Friday, April 26th / 27th* Time: 9:04 PM EST
Cameras are waiting by the court door for the Foxes' starting line-up, so Neil follows Kevin over. Kevin stands calm and quiet until a referee opens the door for them. Before he steps on Kevin taps the butt of his racquet against the floor and passes his stick to his other hand. He strides to half-court head high and left-handed, and the crowd goes wild.
