During his three years away, he often found himself spending a lot of time in Liyue, especially in the beginning. It was far enough away from Mondstadt to be untethered, but close enough if there was any big reason to return home. He also just seemed to enjoy the rich culture of Liyue more than anything else.

While Diluc's 3 year time outside of Mondstadt was to search for more information on Delusions and the Fatui, he very much enjoyed the space from Mondstadt as well as the clarity and ability it gave him to process what had happened. He also very much enjoy traveling and while his mission was important, he tried to make sure he took in the view and the beauty of the world around him

          the man’s familiar voice, though obviously surprised and somewhat pained from the tumble she’d caused him to have (oops), confirmed to klee that he was indeed who she’d suspected him to be. her eyes weren’t playing tricks on her after all!

but why would diluc be the dark knight hero? didn’t he not like the knights of favonius? so why was he running around at night, essentially helping them do their job? and what about that tail? she’d thought for a moment that maybe the mysterious vigilante could be like diona, but diluc wasn’t like diona at all! was it a part of his weird costume? why did he want to wear a costume at all! it was the middle of the night!

the whole thing had her awfully confused, and it was obvious by the expression painted on her face. in fact, the number of questions rattling around in her head were enough to make her dizzy as she tried to decide what to ask first!

“klee doesn’t get it!!! i wanted to find the dark knight hero so everyone would stop fighting about it, but you don’t even like the knights!!!! master jean told klee you quit a long time ago!!!”

Diluc looked at Klee, a hesitant expression that now teetered on wariness as he saw literally saw the wheels in her head begin to turn. He looked at her concerned, questioning if he might’ve confused the child into silence. It wasn’t until she shouted into the night that he became more alert, his tail shooting out. He quickly grabbed the hand of the child and ran them back towards the Tavern that he ran. 

“Not so loud Klee!” Was his only response as ushered her and himself into the now closed tavern. Once inside, he let go of the child’s hand and turned on the rooms to the light. He then returned back to the child and knelt down to look at her, his mask now off. 

“Klee, First off, what made you think this was a good idea? Second, even though I dislike the knights, I still do my part to protect Mondstadt, just...not under the jurisdiction of the Knights of Favonius.” His voice was quick as he looked over the child. After he was sure she didn’t hurt herself sneaking out, he let out a sigh stood back up, but still looked down at her. 

“I have a fairly reasonable explanation for what I’m doing, but I think sneaking out at night to find a vigilante isn’t good enough for you to risk your safety.” His voice rang with quiet reprimands. Even if she was blessed with a vision and capable of destroying many threats with explosives, he didn’t approve of the actions and risk she made, and the possible worry she could bring the acting grandmaster.

Diluc had be waiting for the day to turn to night anxiously. The winery was especially busy and exhausting and While he enjoyed keeping up with his father’s work, there was a limit to how many drunkards he could handle before he wanted to kick everyone out. So when the hour struck closing time, Diluc was happy to request everyone to leave, almost doing it with a smile.

By the time he had finished cleaning, it had become much later. He quickly shuffled to the upper area of the tavern, and into a small private room that he often kept locked. In there was a chest containing the gear he would wear when disguising as the darknight. He quickly changed into the outfit, his ears and tails now freely in the open, and dawned his mask. Making sure no one was near the tavern, he quickly slipped out through the balcony, vision at his waist and delusion on his glove.

He ran down the street with purpose, booking it for the gate. He was so focused on the destination infront of him that he failed to see the child following close behind. Well he didn’t see her until it was too late.

With a painful yank of his tail, he lost his balance and was slightly pulled back to where his tail was snatched. With a thud, Diluc landed to the ground ungracefully. He quickly looked behind him and his eyes meet the bright eyes of the younger pyro user. 

“K...Klee?” He said this with a tone of surprise, an inflection he never held when speaking normally. “I....What are you doing out here? Its past midnight, shouldn’t you be home child?” Diluc, flustered, moved his tail behind himself and tried to hide his ears among his hair in a foolish and useless attempt to hide his Katzlein features.

                                        tonight was the night. she’d been planning it for weeks! all the kids in town had been arguing over who the dark knight hero could be and she was getting sick of it! she didn’t care who he was, she just wanted to play! so, she’d decided that she’d figure out who it was herself, just to end the endless debating!

when the clock struck midnight, she made her move, placing the carefully constructed dummy in her bed in case one of the knights came to check up on her. maybe she shouldn’t have used a jumpty dumpty for the head, but it was a bit too late for that now! the second everything was set in place, she pushed her window open and hopped right out.

the next part was a bit trickier as she found herself nodding off as she waited in the middle of mondstadt for the dark knight to show himself. how come he had to run around so late? klee was tired and wanted to go back to bed, but she was on a mission.

and after what felt like hours, all of her efforts had finally paid off! she jumped back to her feet as the figure passed, running after it as far and fast as her little legs could carry her… just a bit closer, and-

“aha!!!” she gripped onto the figures tail and gave it a good hard yank to stop the mysterious hero in its tracks! however, the answer to the question pondered by mondstadt’s citizens for so long wasn’t one she had expected…

“weird grumpy guy?????” she asked, mouth agape as if she’d just unmasked the villain in an episode of scooby doo.
