End of the year update

So I may have over planned what I could do while pregnant and post-partum and I have not done jack shit.

Health wise I've recovered pretty fast, had post-partum blues due to lack of sleep the first three months but otherwise I've been busy as hell.

Luckily things are going back to normal as normal can be with a baby. I'm about to start the cold stratification process for some of my seeds while I plan out the layout of my garden and list off all necessary buys like raised beds, soil, compost, etc...

On another note, I've gotten back into baking and a few other productive hobbies of mine that are very therapeutic. I've missed being crafty and I promised myself that I wouldn't stay away from it for too long after having a baby.

I'm slowly starting to feel like myself again and I love it. I've been feeling down for too long and I am so happy I'm finally beginning to level out.

Garden Update (5/15/2023)

With all the recent rain we've been getting I've been worrying that it might over water or flood out the tire planters but these guys thrived!

Between the 12th and today my summer squash went full bloom! These are the biggest flowers on a summer squash I've seen. I've had two years experience when I lived with my grandmother but never have I seen anything this large. I'm hoping that since there's bees out here that I won't have to pollinate these myself but I might go ahead just in case...

My cucumbers are blooming really well and the pinto beans around them have grown tall enough that I can start tying them up to polls. My corn stalk is a little thicker than my thumb now so it's growing really really well~

Garden Update! 5/12/2023

-Top two are my tomato plants, the left being the beef steak tomatoes that were on sale for $1 per plant!

-My corn/cucumber/ pinto bean tire exploded with the recent rain and the cucumbers started to blossom!!! I have to start making a twine & twig trellis for the beans because they are getting a little bit out of control XD

-If you look behind the corn/cucumber/ pinto bean tire you'll see a small pot with some carrot sprouts in it... I'm trying XD

-My peppers are doing so-so since getting transplanted to their tire, not much growth since I've brought them home

-My summer squash is out of control over here. Within the last ten days Ducati has more than tripled in size!

My heirloom seeds I bought should be coming in today and I'm super excited to get into some gardening this weekend~ Hoping to get my partner into building me a couple of planters with the spare materials our new landlord said we could use (If not, then I'm about to learn to use some power tools because I need more planters ASAP lol) Hoping to fill up and use my new galvanized steel planter I just got, going to put my broccoli and a couple herbs in it!

Garden Update! 5/2/2023

The summer squash is doing absolutely amazing! If only my other seedlings would hurry to the party XD

My cement block green onions are hardy and probably ready to be cut back a bit but we just used the ones on the porch recently.

The tomatoes grew just a little bit more but not by much with all the rain and off and on cold weather we've been getting over here.

My corn/ cucumber/ bean tire is getting overran by the beans so they'll have to be moved very soon. Memo to future me, don't throw the beans away into the compost bin! They will grow!

My broccoli sprouted this morning! I can't wait till they're big enough to move into a planter box!

My Camellia Sinensis should be coming in today, I had bought it off Esty from a reputable seller so I can't wait to see it when I get home today~

Gonna name all my summer squash plants after motorcycle brands

I planted my first and currently only thriving summer squash in my partner's old motorcycle tire so I named it after his motorcycle.

Ducati is the eldest who's got the most mature leaves on it.

Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Harley are still seedlings but I'm about to move them for some growth time so they can get transplanted soon.
