I can’t think of a focus character so maybe I’ll just go for omniscient narrator description?

To answer your questions:

Ashling

Male

For the vibe of the description, maybe like curious? Think like a scientist noting a very interesting new specimen, one they’re a bit excited about

A bit nervous and jumpy, jaded, worn down by the world but still had a tiny bit of a spark

I honestly have no idea what eye color I gave him. Let’s go with blue

Slightly upturned, but not much. It’s only something you would notice if asked to describe his eye shape, and even then, and “I guess” and a question mark would probably be in that statement somewhere

Dirty blond

Fairly short, although not cropped

Going to combine the next two: not super tight, but there’s definitely some curl. Think Anthony Bridgerton in season two but with a smidge more curl. Sorry I know that’s a completely unhinged description it was the best way I could think of to convey it. It a bit anachronistic for a late Victorian setting, when hairstyles were calming down and getting more slicked back? Yes, but then again, Ashling wouldn’t be too bothered with fashion.

Decently so, but not crazy. It’s pretty clear that that’s what his hair wants to do and he’s not going to bother with trying something else

Fair, a bit peachy with definite pink undertones

Hmmm can’t think of any. He just looks like a pretty average guy.

Knee-length brown wool jacket with a belt (unbuttoned), dark brown pants, off-white shirt, burgundy quilted waistcoat. He’s got pretty nice clothes; not like ostentatious, but they’re clearly really good quality and sturdy.

Contemplative and a smidge anxious. Less like he’s worried about something, more like he knows that something is going to happen and he wants to be prepared

I mean, not like crazy, and he’s wearing a ton of layers, but in non-Victorian clothing, you could tell that he’s pretty athletic

Common themes I notice throughout my writing:

Very little romance, but lots of very close platonic and/or familial connections

A weird number of necromancers. I have a saying when it comes to writing prompts; “when in doubt, write about necromancers”

Opening scenes with lines of dialogue

Lack of speech tags. When I need to be clear about who’s talking, I attach and action

Characters growing up in situations that made them the way they are from a young age

Gaslight fantasy!

Characters who do sewing-related things or at least have sewing knowledge

I really don’t know how to explain to you that activism, community outreach, meeting important goals in the realm of social justice, and just generally living life is much easier under the presidency of an average democrat than a republican who was so outspokenly racist, genocidal, inflammatory, misogynistic, and violent that he may have permanently skewed the american right to the furthest extreme possible. I don’t know how to explain to you that the candidate who was so extreme that he brought neo-nazis into the mainstream political landscape needs to be kept out of any political office at any cost. even if it means voting for a center-left democrat who won’t personally sign off on your glorious revolution.

In hindsight, maybe an early sign that I'm allon't was viewing romance as a somewhat equivalent to dragons in fantasy. Yes I love the hypothetical of taking a dope flying fire breathing beast out for a joy ride, yes I would have a literal heart attack and facking die if I was inserted into the situation. Yes this is basically also my stance on romance, your point being?
