You
-pt.2 of Crush
Parings: Pham Hanni x fem!reader
Synopsis: you like her, just herâŚ
Genre: Idol au, fluff
âOkay, so unnie listen carefully okay?â Hanni grinned as she nodded at your serious face. Gosh if she werenât on face time she would be rolling off her bed. You were so cute.
âYou know how my schedule has been really packed so I donât really have time to hangout at the company and like socialize with other idols right?â You waited until Hanni nodded before continuing. âYeah so, I decided to chill there for a while with my members because we had a free schedule the whole morningâŚâ you continued to rambled but Hanni wasnât listening, she was only looking at you.
Looking at how your eyes furrowed when you acted confused, or how you slightly pouted when you noticed she wasnât listening. âUnnie, are you even listening?â Hanni shook her head. âIâm listening, go on.â You raised your eyebrows at her, totally not convinced but chose to continue anyways.
âOkay, so you know that time when I accidentally said that I had a few crushes on a few idols on live right?â Hanni suddenly felt like not listening anymore. She remembered that era of time when you would come to their dorm just to gush to her about your crushes. Letâs say Hanni wasnât very happy about that.
âThey approached meâŚâ You paused to look if she was paying attention, she was.
âAnd suddenly said that they liked me at the same tim-â You didnât get to finish as Hanni interrupted, furrowing her eyebrows she tilted her head. âLike? As in Like-Like?â The bitter taste of jealousy hits her tongue after you nodded.
âAnd? What did you say?â Hanni felt stiff throughout her whole body, she did not like it one bit but she needed to know more.
âWellâŚnothing I just stared at them and then my manager came in and saved the day. Itâs the reason why I called you, I want advice!â You twirled your hair, giggling like a school girl in love.
âAdvice for what?â Hanni asked as her lips grew a pout. Whyâd you have to tell her that.
âFor what I should do?â You asked, frowning a bit when you noticed that she looked like a child whose lollipop was snatched away.
âI donât knowâŚâ Hanniâs voice trailed off as she glanced away from your pretty face to her freshly painted nails. âDo you like them like that? Any of them?â
âIâm not sure of my feelingsâŚI guess it felt good when they told me they like me? Yeah, I just felt niceâŚwhatever, I like someone else now but itâs not like Iâm allowed to even if I wanted toâ You shrugged carelessly, leaning back onto your pillow.
But Hanni wasnât able to care less at all, she cared a lot. If you stopped liking them then who do you like now? Was it one of your members? Or that actress whom youâve been hanging out with way too much lately. Hanni immediately felt even more bitter after thinking about that actress.
Okay, who ever it is, Hanni Pham desperately needed to know. âWho do you like?!â looking at you with desperate eyes.
âYou.â
Hanni jaw dropped as she blinked rapidly, unsure that what she heard was what it was. Even you were surprised by your own words but before any of you could utter a word, you could see from Hanniâs phone that your sister had just entered her room.
As they always say, life is full of interruptions.
âWhat are you doing?â Minjiâs head appeared behind her door. âOn video call with my baby sis again?â
Minji raised her brows when no one replied, she then swung the door fully open and walked inside of Hanniâs room, staring at her friend who was frozen in time. âBro, we need to get to the company now.â then she faced your face through the iPhone screen, you too were quite.
Minji flickered her eyes between the two who were both still and faces were redder than the tomatoes Danielle ate daily. âThese twoâŚâMinji shook her head before picking up Hanniâs phone from the desk and bid goodbye to you before leaving the call.
âHan, get it together before I release those love songs you wrote to my baby sis.â Seeing as Hanni wonât respond Minji sighed before punching her arm and then left, leaving Hanni alone.
âShe likes meâŚâ Hanni said in a low voice as she held her burning cheeks with both hands. âYn likes me.â her cheeks hurts from smiling to hard.

Playlist
Like all bad decisions youâve made in your life, it always starts with Danielle.
âPlease,â Danielle begs, standing in the doorway to your room like a toddler whoâs waiting to tell their mom that they just vomited. âJust for tonight.â
You glare at her as you pause your TikTok. âIâm not being your designated driver. Catch an Uber.â
Danielle skips toward your bed and flops on it, resting her chin on the palm of her hand and kicking her feet like a kid. Sheâs putting on this disgusting baby voice. âPlease, Iâm begging you⌠I donât get paid until next week.â
You ignore her and press play on your TikTok. Itâs an edit of Asami Sato, and damn, she is so fine. Youâre blushing and giggling to yourself until Danielle rudely interrupts you by pulling your blanket to the floor, ridding you of its comfortable warmth.
âWhat the fuck!â
She pouts. âPlease? I wonât ask again.â
âYou said that last time,â you give her a blank stare. âAnd the last last time.â
âLast time was five months ago! And I always make it up to you.â
Danielle rolls over on her back, and her head is heavy on your legs. She begins to poke you.
âPlease,â she whines, dragging the word out. You close your eyes as her voice rings in your ears like a mosquito, taking deep breaths to prevent yourself from murdering her.
Danielle is a lovely roommate. She pays her half of the rent on time, she keeps her space tidy, and she always brings you leftovers from the bakery that she works at. Only issue is, sheâs a massive social butterfly. Meaning that wherever she goes, thereâs always a party â either in your own apartment, or someone elseâs.
She keeps trying to explain to you why sheâs like this â saying that sheâs an âEâ for her âMBTDâ or âTMDIâ or whatever, but you couldnât care less. All you know is that you want to peacefully rot in your bed.
But, damn, she can be awfully persuasive. Persuasive meaning incessantly pestering you until you give in.
You sigh in defeat. âGet out before I change my mind.â
Danielle sits up at the speed of light and grins.
âI love you so much,â she presses a sloppy kiss on your hand. You wipe your hand on your blanket in disgust. She then skips out of your room humming some song.
As you force yourself out of bed to get ready, you mentally prepare yourself for the night ahead.
Every time Danielle drags you to one of her parties, you hate her a little more. Which is impossible, because no one hates Danielle. But here you are, cursing her as you stand alone, leaning against the wall, arms folded, and cynical eyes scanning the crowd.
Danielle had practically abandoned you the second the two of you stepped foot in the house, preferring the company of her other friends. You donât mind of course â this is always the standard drill.
There are the people who are not exactly drunk, just a little buzzed, who are mingling with each other, conversations full of giggles and exaggerated voices. Then, there are the people who are drunk, either dancing sloppily on the floor or passed out. You hear a group of people in the backyard cheering someone on to chug. Lastly, thereâs the small group of people who are completely sober, stuck in the same boat as you are.
Okay, so maybe you do mind that Danielle abandoned you. Because youâre stuck here looking like a bitter loner, and in this very moment, you are one. You feel awkward, self-conscious, tired, and extremely bored.
Youâre checking your phone for any new notifications (there are none) when you look up and make eye contact with a familiar face for a split second.
You immediately look back down and open Instagram, pretending that you have something to do. You hope she didnât recognize you. If you canât see her, she canât see you, is what you tell yourself.
You hear footsteps approaching you, but you convince yourself itâs just a stranger walking past.
âHey,â Minji says, a small smile on her face. Nevermind.
âMinji,â you greet her tentatively. âHi.â
Nothing better than seeing your exâs best friend for the first time since the breakup that happened three months ago. As expected, sheâs taken on the role of the responsible one and is sober.
You mull over the past for a split second â youâve never seen Minji tipsy, let alone drunk. Sheâs always been a good friend. It sucks that you guys donât talk anymore, for obvious reasons.
Minji joins you in leaning against the wall. âHow are you?â
âGood. You?â
Youâre not curt because you have something against her â you just have no idea how to navigate these types of social dilemmas. Thereâs no exact rulebook for approaching a conversation with your best friendâs ex, especially an ex who you are still in love with.
âIâm good as well.â
Silence follows after. You fidget awkwardly, pulling out your phone just to stare at the same Instagram feed you were only looking at a few minutes ago. You keep refreshing the feed, but to no avail. Youâre staring at the same reel of a cat playing a rhythm game.
âLook,â Minji says. âWhat happened between you and Hanniââ
Your finger twitches at the mention of her name. You straighten yourself up and rush out an apology. âI gotta go to the bathroom.â
Minji doesnât stop you as you hurriedly weave your way through the mass of sweaty bodies. You donât even know where the bathroom is. It takes you a good ten minutes to find it, and itâs surprisingly vacant.
You lock the door behind you. The air is humid inside, and you feel claustrophobic. The lights are dim. You steady yourself by gripping the sink. Hair is sticking to the back of your neck, and your clothes cling to your sweat.
You let out a deep exhale to collect your thoughts before washing your face. You stare at your reflection, and youâre not sure if you like what you see. Youâre pale and your eyebags are prominent. Youâve lost the fat in your cheeks that Hanni always used toâŚ
You splash water on your face again. If Minjiâs here, then that means Hanniâs definitely here. Fuck, you knew you shouldnât have come today. You close your eyes as the water drips down your face and back into the sink. Itâs been a rough few months.
You grab some tissues to dry yourself and chuck them in the bin before steeling yourself to go back outside. You cautiously creak open the door and peek outside to check if Minji is still there. To your relief, the coast seems clear.
Your eyes scan around the house for a bit longer, searching for another corner to nestle into. And thatâs when you see it. Or, more specifically, her.
Hanniâs leaning on the balcony railing, red solo cup in hand, and the moonlight is gently resting on her. Thereâs someone else with her â she looks familiar but you canât remember her name. It was either Yunjin or Yeonjung. Or it could be Yeojin.
Theyâre laughing together, and Hanniâs eyes are crinkling just like you remember, and you remember the sound of her laughter, and how it was a melody that you were proud to bring out, and God, she just looks so pretty. Like she didnât just go through a breakup.
Then Yunjin/Yeonjung/Yeojin places her hand on Hanniâs waist, and your body goes frigid. You feel hot â anger at first, shame next, and guilt last. And itâs a fiery concoction that burns all over you.
You have no right to be jealous. You force down the lump in your throat and look up at the ceiling until the tears are gone. Fuck. You will not survive the night sober. You take one last glance at Hanni and Yujin/Yeonjung/Yeojin and make up your mind.
You text Danielle: catch an uber, and send her $20 with Apple Cash. Sheâll be fine. You hope. Then, you beeline straight to the kitchen, rummage through the cabinets, and help yourself to a small bottle of Jack Danielâs. Then, you down it.
You grab another bottle of soju from a fridge (peach because itâs the best flavor) to slowly sip on as you settle on some couch. It feels slightly sticky, but beggars canât be choosers. You know youâll be too drunk to care in a second â youâre lucky youâre a lightweight.
Itâs twenty minutes later that you feel the heat encompassing your body and the tip of your ears burning. You can barely hear the music over the pounding of your own heart. You automatically keel over to the side and relish the coolness of a silk pillow.
Youâre mumbling to yourself (and possibly drooling) when you hear a muffled voice.
âHey, you okay?â
Huh, the voice sounds just like Minji, but youâre too sluggish to respond. A few minutes later, thereâs something blissfully cold pushing against your cheek, and then itâs gone. Youâre pulled up so that youâre sitting again, and your head lays against the top of the sofa.
âDrink this,â Minji(?) says, and they guide the bottle to your hand. You shakily take a few gulps, and of course, you spill some of it on yourself, but Minji(?) cleans it up with some tissues.
âThanks,â you mumble.
âDo you have anyone to take you home?â
You try to shake your head, but it makes you feel nauseous and you almost fall face forward off the sofa. Minji(?) luckily catches you and helps you back up.
âIâll be back,â Minji(?) says. âStay still.â
You blearily open your eyes, and everything still seems the same. Every movement of your head feels as though itâs in slow motion, like youâre in some kind of TikTok velocity edit, but worse.
People are still mingling, thereâs still Boat Race and Beer Pong going on, and the night is still young. Your eyes close shut on their own. Your heartbeat is still as loud as ever.
Clearly, your plan to drink in order to forget about your ex didnât work, because just a few minutes after Minji(?) has left, you think of Hanni again.
The two of you met in your first year of university the way most people meet: through a friend of a friend. In this case, the friend of a friend was Danielle. So, in retrospect, at least thereâs one thing you can thank Danielleâs amiableness for.Â
You and Hanni hit it off quite well â both still new and adapting to the unexplored terrain that is university, and despite your initial awkwardness and standoffish nature, you both found an unlikely friendship through your common love for simulation and management games.
(If you scroll all the way back to the top of your message history, it would show your first conversation as you teaching her how to illegally download City Skylines.)
Four months later and after countless movie marathons and one laptop explosion (your Macbook Pro died in flames after you attempted to open the Sims 4 with all its DLCs that you pirated), the two of you officially started dating. The way Hanni asked you out was extremely nerdy, but you think thatâs what made it all the better.
You were both playing Minecraft one night, and while you were in the dark depths of a comically humongous cave, Hanni was doing God knows what up on the surface. Thatâs how it always was: Hanni was the builder and you were the miner. Thereâs no better dynamic than that.
It was relatively silent for around ten minutes until your curiosity got the better of you. âWhat are you doing up there?â
âNothing,â you could hear the smile on her face. âJust building.â
âI know that,â you huffed. âI mean, what are you building?â
A muffled giggle. âSecret.â
You paused your mining. Youâd probably see endless corridors of stone and coal in your dreams. âShould I go back up?â
âNo!â Hanni quickly exclaimed. âPlease, not yet.â
âAlright,â you grumbled, placing down a crafting table to make a new pickaxe. âHurry up, Iâm almost out of food.â
Fifteen minutes later, you heard a meek, âYou can come up nowâ, and then the abrupt sound of her ending the Facetime. You were confused, and you tried to call her back, but to no avail. You spent an embarrassing few minutes trying to remember where the stairs back up were. Eventually, you began the arduous journey back up to the surface, and when you reached the top, your thumb ached from pressing the space key too much.
You saw it immediately. Right next to your cottage was a custom cherry blossom tree with a bench under it. You moved towards it, and a sign caught your attention: âCan we place our beds next to each other from now on? <3â
You laughed to yourself, blushing, and entered the house Hanni made before breaking your bed and placing it next to her pink one. You took a screenshot of this and sent it to her. She replied immediately with a Facetime call back. And that was that.
It was 9 months of this: enjoying each otherâs presence, being disgustingly in love and domestic, opening yourselves up to one another⌠before The End arrived. Maybe you should have seen it coming. You were never good with your emotions though.
(Danielleâs horrified reaction upon seeing your âTâ result after that nonsense test she made you do flashes through your mind.)
Even if you did see it coming, would you have been able to stop it anyway?
Looking back now, it was so obvious. The number of dates dwindled down. The dates that did happen, once full of animated conversation and laughter over silly little things, now consisted of half-hearted and dry replies.
Maybe it was your fault. You know how distant you can get under academic pressure, and especially with a course as demanding as nursing, thereâs barely any time to yourself, let alone Hanni.
The End happened on a Saturday evening. A familiar rhythmic pattern of knocks echoed through your apartment, and you slowly made your way to the door to greet Hanni.
âHey,â you smiled tiredly as you leaned against the doorframe. âI missed you.â
With the hand thatâs not holding takeaway, Hanni squeezed your hand lightly. âI missed you too.â
You both made your way back inside the apartment. You went to your room and slumped back in your chair, continuing your work as Hanni set up the table for dinner. Even though both your schedules were packed, you were glad that you were able to see her once in a while. It sucked, but it had to be enough, was what you told yourself. Little did you know.
At Hanniâs calling of your name, you remember running your fingers through your hair, closing your eyes for a second and taking a deep breath. A second was the plan. You ended up dozing off right then and there, and Hanni had to come in and shake you awake.
Dinner was quiet, save for the sounds of the clinking of cutlery and the occasional slurp. It had been like this for a while. At least there was background noise with the TV playing on some obscure channel. You wondered when this became the norm. The two of you didnât even bother to ask about each otherâs day, because it would elicit the same response: âExhausting.â
You swallowed the last of your food and mentally prepared yourself to drop the bomb.
âHanni,â you started off cautiously. âYou know how weâre in second year now?â
She hummed in response, her eyes meeting yours. You missed when it used to have so much life and love in them.
âWell,â you breath hitched. âI start placement soon. And itâs full-time.â
âOh.â
You both knew it was coming, but you guess it wasnât something you were both prepared to face. Full-time placement typically ranges from four to six weeks, and the university allocates you a location to work at, usually far from home.
Hanniâs face was unchanging, and you hated this. She used to always be so expressive around you. You would always be able to read each other like a book â thatâs how it always was. âHow soon is soon?â
You tapped your finger on the desk nervously. âLike⌠next week type of soon?â
She dropped the chopsticks on the table. âAre you serious? You couldnât tell me sooner?â
âItâs not that deep,â you hastily defended yourself. âA month isnât that bad. At this point, itâs normal for us to not see each other for a month anyway.â
Your tone was harsher than you intended, but in the heat of the moment, your pride and your stress got the better of you. But this was the worst mistake you couldâve made, because it all escalated so fast and so wrongly.
Hanni scoffed in disbelief. âYou say that like itâs my fault. Youâre the one whoâs always busy. Youâre the one constantly canceling our plans. Iâm the only one whoâs trying to keep this relationship together.â
âDonât act like Iâm not trying here,â you gritted your teeth. âYou know my schedule. All the free time I have, I spend it with you.â
âI canât believe youâre guilt-tripping me over wanting to spend more time with you.â
âIâm notââ You stopped yourself from raising your voice. âIâm not guilt-tripping you. You shouldâve told me how you felt rather than just dropping this all on me today. Iâm already stressed enough.â
Hanni let out a scornful laugh. âOh, you canât be the one to talk about dropping bombs. And have the past few weeks not been enough of an indication for you? Youâre too stressed to notice how we literally act like strangers?â
âYou canât expect me to read your mind!â
âWell, I expect you to at least care enough to notice!â
You threw your hands up in exasperation. âLookââ
She cut you off. âWhatever. I donât think this will work out. Especially now that youâre practically going MIA for a month.â
âAre you serious?â You spat. âYou donât think our relationship is worth fighting over? You canât even handle a few weeks?â
The jarring screech of the chair scraping against the floor as Hanni sharply stood up rang in your ears. âI have been fighting. But clearly, youâre too in over your head to see it. Weâre over.â
And with that, she stormed out of the apartment with a thunderous slamming of the door.
Youâre crying. Youâre still at the party, drunk out of your mind, and youâre bawling your eyes out. You at least have some dignity to force yourself up and stumble outside so that no one has to witness what a horrible mess you are.
You drop yourself against the wall, and you hit your head against it. It hurts like hell, and thereâs going to be a bruise tomorrow, and you want to scream so badly. You clench your fists instead, feeling the digging of your nails into your palm, your body racking with sobs as you try to breathe, but itâs too hard.
You couldnât even grieve in the first month, because you were on placement. It did provide a temporary distraction from The End, but at night, when you lay in bed, miles away from home, there was nowhere else to run.
You sat with that weight, that feeling of your body closing in on itself. Tossing and turning, you could only rely on completely crying your eyes out until you were so drained that you had no choice but to fall asleep.
All you were left with each morning was the swelling in your eyes and the ache all over your body.
When you finally finished placement, you did what anyone else would do after a breakup: entirely shut the world out. The only time you left was for mandatory classes, which you barely survived. A cap and mask to hide your miserable self was the solution.
In the third month, Danielle somehow managed to lure you out of your room. She offered you some takeaway from your favorite restaurant, and you were surprised that she didnât pry. You mustâve looked really bad. After that, you gradually assimilated yourself back into normal society and got a grasp of your usual routine.
What hurt most was that it wasnât hard to live without Hanni, because you had already been separate and distant before you even broke up. The other hardest part was learning how to move on, because it was something you never thought youâd have to do.
You didnât want to move on though, and although Danielle reassured you that it was fine (you finally broke and told her everything one night when she found you drunk on the couch blabbering to yourself), there was this nagging feeling in your chest that it was the right thing to do.
After all, it was your fault.
You hear the door of the house open and there are faint voices floating around. âCheck if sheâs outside.â
Some time passes by before a soft voice calls out your name. This is followed by a few gentle taps on your cheek.
You curl yourself up and turn away from the stranger, your voice small and croaky. âLeave me alone.â
âIâm gonna take you home.â
You shake your head. âI donât want to.â
A few seconds pass by with no response. You assume mystery person has left, but they speak up again. âWhy?â
âIâm sad,â your words come out nasally because of your blocked nose. âIâm really really really sad.â
You hear a sigh before the mystery person sits next to you, a few inches apart. âDo you want to talk about it?â
âI miss my ex,â you whine. âI miss her so much.â
âUmââ
âI want her back,â you continue, slurring your words. âIâm so stupid. So stupid.â
Mystery person listens silently.
âAnd the universe keeps reminding me of her. Yesterday, I was playing the Sims, and the Sim I made of her burnt my house down. She must really hate me.â
â...You made a sim of her?â
You sniff. âYes. And I made one of me. And I made us marry.â
Mystery person laughs quietly. The two of you sit there and focus on the muffled music from the party for a few minutes.
âDid you really mean it?â They suddenly ask.
âMean what?â
âThat you want her back.â
The question makes you burst into tears again.
âYes,â you ramble. âI miss her so much⌠I want her back⌠Iâd do anythingâŚâ
Your voice grows weaker with every passing word. You pass out after a minute of repeating the same thing over and over again.
You wake the next morning with a killer headache and swollen eyes. Huh, this doesnât feel too unfamiliar. Youâre snuggling yourself deeper into the bedsheets, but then you realize that this is way too comfortable to be your own bed. You blink your eyes open, adjusting your vision, and thankfully the room is dark, otherwise you wouldâve been flashbanged.
Oh my god, your mind eventually registers. This is not your room. This is Hanniâs room.
You sit up in shock and horror. It makes you nauseous but you hold it down. How on earth did you end up in her room?
You can hear some shuffling outside the door. Okay, you think. Two options here. Best case scenario: Itâs Minji, and you can awkwardly say hi and bye. Worst case scenario: Itâs Hanni. There is no current thought as to how you will approach the situation.
Then you hear humming, and just your luck, itâs Hanni.
Okay, you think to yourself again and look out the window, is it possible to survive that jump? (It isnât.) Your brain runs through hundreds of methods to somehow suddenly die, but none of them are plausible.
Hanni approaches the door, and you quickly hide under the sheets and pretend to be asleep.Â
She flicks the light on. âI know youâre awake.â
You sheepishly peek out from under the covers.
âGo brush your teeth and shower,â Hanni says. Then, in a smaller voice, as if embarrassed, she continues, âYour toothbrush is still there.â
You stand in the shower, contemplating all of your life decisions that have led to this very moment. You brush your teeth, still contemplating all your life decisions. You consider sending a text to Danielle, something along the lines of: I HATE YOU!!!! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!, but thatâs not very fair to her.
You decide on sending a nicer text: hi i hope you got home okay⌠sorry for not staying sober!
You pace around the bathroom, thinking of what to say to Hanni when you step out. You could just take off and run, but youâre probably not coordinated enough to do that. Guess itâs time to be the bigger person and have a mature conversation.
You take one big dramatic step into the living room of her apartment. Minji isnât home, it seems. You gulp as you see Hanni, back turned to you as sheâs cooking breakfast. Thereâs already a glass of water and Advil waiting for you on the table.
You wordlessly sit down and gratefully take it. After a while, Hanni sets the table up, and this takes you back to the day of The End. You sit there, frozen, but then she stares at you in confusion and you remind yourself to eat like a normal human being.
âSo,â Hanni says after a bit. âDo you remember anything from last night?â
âNo,â you fidget in your seat. âDid I do something bad?â
âYou said you missed me. And wanted to get back together.â
âOh,â you swallow.
Hanni tilts her head. You still canât read her. âDid you mean it?â
You play around with your scrambled eggs. â...Yes?â
She continues to stare at you.
âI did,â you say, a bit more firmly this time, albeit shakily. âAnd Iâm sorry â for everything. I took you for granted⌠and I shouldâve been more considerate of your time and your feelings.â
A pause.
âIâm sorry as well,â Hanni bites her cheek. âI shouldnât have expected you to know how I felt.â
Another pause. âAnd I miss you too.â
âTruce?â You offer an awkward smile.
Hanni puffs out her cheeks. âNo more last-minute news?â
âNo more last-minute news.â
âSpend more time with me? Quality time?â
You nod. âTell each other how we feel?â
âTell each other how we feel,â Hanni repeats. Then she says in a serious tone, so serious that you almost donât believe what youâre hearing. âBuy me Planet Zoo?â
âBuy you⌠Planet Zoo?â
Hanni swiftly hooks her pinky into yours before you can stop her. âYou pinky promised!â
Unbelievable.
âWhatever,â you mutter with a smile.Â
Planet Zoo is a small price to pay to get the love of your life back.
(âOkay, how drunk was I on a scale of one to ten?â
âOh, you were so drunk.â
âI said on a scale of one to ten.â
âLike, passed out on the floor, crying, mumbling my name scale of drunk.â
âOkay, not my finest moment. But you were there with Yunjin⌠or Yeonjung. Or Yeojin. What else was I meant to do?â
âYujin. Itâs Yujin.â
âOh⌠Agree to never mention this again?â
âNope. Love you.â)

Had me crying ngl
BONUS [ LIKEALOOK ] â the last great american dynasty, pt 1.
jang wonyoung, throughout the years.
WARNINGS ; misogyny, toxic household, infidelity, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, absent parents, mentions of affair families, hints of eating disorders, overworking, health issues, fatphobia, implied depression, implied teenage pregnancy (5.5k)
jang wonyoung was born on august 31, 2004.
the newborn was nine pounds and twenty-one inches. with a head of dark, thick hair, the baby's cries rang throughout the hospital room as a tired jang jiyoung could feel the tears welting in her eyes. her baby was alive, and healthy by the sound of it. it was music to her ears.
her baby. her beautiful baby.
she could already imagine it. her beautiful baby boy, inheriting the jang name, passing it on. he'd run for office, just like his father, upholding its integrity, its strength. jiyoung would introduce him to one of her costar's friends, and they'd get married. he'd take care of her, as jiyoung would help his pregnant wife get settled into the family.
she loved her baby boy. her perfect little wonyoung.
"what would you like to name her?"
jiyoung's heart dropped.
her?
"i'm sorry?"
she must've heard wrong. it was just the post-labor haze that had been talking. not only would wonseok reprimand her for not producing an heir to the jang name, but she wouldn't have anyone to take care of her once she grew old.
at least, not someone capable.
the baby's cries continued, almost as if the baby was begging for a glimpse of its mom. with tiny little hands outstretched in the direction of jiyoung, tears poured down its chubby cheeks.
her baby. her baby girl.
"wonyoung." she said half-heartedly. "i'll name her jang wonyoung."
jang wonyoung was imperfect from the start.
her cheeks were too chubby.
any normal four-year-old would have been praised. chubby cheeks were a sign of health, a sign that your baby was eating well.
wonyoung knew it from the way her mom would stare at her, sometimes even pinching her cheeks harshly, almost as if she was trying to pull off the fat on them.
she tried to ignore it, always opting to color peacefully and blink the tears away.
she always drew four people.
her mom, hair flowing to her shoulders, her eyes the same doe-eyed ones as wonyoung. wonyoung always drew her with an angry expression. it was only on tv that wonyoung saw her smile. the youngest jang always stayed up to see her mom smile.
one day, she wanted to see it in person.
her dad was there too, who she rarely saw, but always held a frown whenever he came home. she noticed that he always smelt different, sometimes like the dark, but other times, like flowers. her dad was always serious, even when he was with her mom.
there was also her nanny, a middle-aged woman named hannah, drawn with a smile that made wonyoung feel warm and safe. from what she told wonyoung, she had been working for jiyoung back when she was lee.
wonyoung wondered if her mom smiled back then.
lastly, in the middle, the four-year-old stood. she'd draw herself out in blue crayon, holding her parents' hands with a happy smile. she wished they had a photo like that, instead of the rigid ones that they kept above the fireplace.
hopefully, she'd get a younger sibling soon, so she could love more people.
"enough drawing, wonyoung." her mom snatched her masterpiece away, eyebrows furrowed like the pictures. "your dad is coming home soon."
"he is?" she hoped that he smelt like flowers again.
"he is." jiyoung's face hardened. "you have to go to your room now."
"but i want to see him." she hadn't seen her dad in two months. her mom always said he was at the office, helping the next candidate for the upcoming election (whatever that meant). wonyoung didn't care though. all she wanted was to see her dad again.
jiyoung let out a long sigh, and wonyoung could feel the guilt starting to build up in her chest.
did she make her mom mad again?
"he's in a bad mood, wonyoung." her lips were in a tight line, and wonyoung could see her jaw clenching.
she just wanted her mom to smile at her for once. she wanted to stop making her angry, and her dad happy.
the young girl's eyes brightened, her cheeks turning a light red.
"i can cheer him up!" her dad always laughed at her jokes. if she could get him to smile, wonyoung was sure she could make him feel better. "my friend, sarang, taught me a magic trick. if i can just show dadd-"
"i said," her mom's voice was strict and firm, not the smooth melody she heard on tv. "go to your room, wonyoung."
"but-" wonyoung could cheer him up! she knew she could.
jiyoung sighed. of course, wonyoung would disobey her. she shouldn't have expected anything else from the younger girl.
"do you want him to be mad at you?" the older woman scolded her, jiyoung's finger pointing at the four-year-old in front of her. "do you want him to know that you're a stupid little girl who doesn't listen to her mom?"
stupid.
wonyoung hadn't heard that word before, not until now. her mom had always called her other things; annoying, loud, irritating, but she had never heard stupid before.
she didn't know why it made her feel bad.
"what?" wonyoung could feel herself shrinking into her seat, gripping onto the blue crayon in her hand. "what's stupid?"
"you." jiyoung's eyes were numb, void of all emotions. wonyoung hated it when her mom looked at her like that. "you're being an annoying, stupid little girl right now."
stupid? was she stupid?
wonyoung could feel herself crying.
she didn't want to be stupid. she just wanted to make her dad happy. she just wanted to spend time with him, even when he smelt weird, like the cabinet her mom would open frequently.
"i just wanna see daddy..." wonyoung hiccuped. her lip quivered as her mom glared at her, huffing.
her mom was mad. it was wonyoung's fault, again.
maybe wonyoung was a stupid little girl.
she didn't want to be stupid.
"he doesn't wanna see you." jiyoung whispered, her voice piercing the young jang.
wonyoung hung her head low.
she knew it deep down. she knew that her dad's laughs were to shoo her away. wonyoung could see it by the way he looked at her, and no matter how hard she tried, no matter how funny her jokes were, wonseok wouldn't look her way. even when she showed him her drawings, all he would do was nod.
wonyoung was a stupid girl.
"go to your room, wonyoung."
wonyoung nodded, her bottom lip quivering as she packed up her crayons. she cradled the box against her body, rushing upstairs as jiyoung poured herself a glass of wine.
the four-year-old swung the door open, jumping into her already-made bed. the box of crayons squished against the pale blue covers, various pinks, and reds staining them. it was warm in her room, blindingly bright for a night at 9pm. if wonyoung wasn't crying so much, she'd ask hannah to turn down the lamp and turn on her rabbit night light.
she loved rabbits. they looked like her mom.
"wonyoung." hannah laughed at the little girl, sitting beside her faced-down head. "your crayons."
wonyoung stayed quiet, letting her bed soak up the tears pouring down her face. she tried her best to be quiet, to not disturb anyone, just like her mom taught her.
hannah could still hear her sniffling, though.
the older woman rubbed the back of wonyoung's shirt, feeling the young heiress gasping for air. "what's wrong?"
wonyoung lifted her head up, squinting as she tried to adjust to the room's brightness. she could see the han river from where she was, the water glistening into the jang household.
the four-year-old looked at her caretaker, the kind woman smiling at her.
"mama told me to go up here." her voice was as tiny as she was. "she said daddy was coming, and that he was upset."
wonyoung was upset too, but she was okay with being upset if it meant wonseok would look her way.
"why are you crying then?"
she was crying because she was stupid. she was crying because she never got to spend time with her dad, and her mom only looked her way when wonyoung listened to her.
she was crying because she was jang wonyoung, and her parents didn't want jang wonyoung.
"mama said i can't see him." she hummed as the nanny stroked her hair, comfort washing throughout her body. "he'd get mad at a stupid girl like me."
hannah frowned.
she was worried that jiyoung would turn out like this, bitter and cruel to the younger girl. jiyoung had always resembled her mother, even back when the eldest lee was a baby. hannah had always hoped that she wouldn't hold the same parenting style as her.
"wonyoung." hannah bit back the quiver of her voice. no girl, especially someone as sweet as the young heiress, should ever think of themselves in such a way. "don't call yourself stupid. you're a very smart girl."
wonyoung shook her head. every word her parents had said was a sense of truth to the young child. every glare, every sigh made her feel sad. it made her hurt.
it made her feel worthless.
(but the four year-old didn't know that word yet, and it wouldn't be a couple years until she did. but it didn't matter, because she knew it felt the same when she was four as it did when she was twenty.)
"mama said i was." her voice was as little as she was.
jiyoung was her mother in every sense, just like she always wanted to be. hannah hoped wonyoung wouldn't meet the same fate.
"she's just stressed out right now." she felt guilty lying to the young girl, even though it was partial. "don't listen to her."
wonyoung wanted to believe hannah, so she nodded, sitting up and allowing herself to accept the excuse.
hannah smiled, her grin sending a warmth through wonyoung's body that made her feel loved. she wished that her mom would smile at her that way, but she didn't mind that it was hannah.
the woman looked at wonyoung's bed sheets, stained with the young girl's tears and her crayons.
"do you wanna help me clean this up?" hannah asked, watching as the four year-old's eyes lit up.
wonyoung always wanted to help her.
it made her miss her daughter.
"can i show you a magic trick first?" the young jang smiled, her chubby cheeks protruding from her face.
"a magic trick?" hannah asked gleefully. she pinched wonyoung's cheek lightly, trying her best to control her giddiness. she didn't understand how anyone could hate her this child. "our baby knows a magic trick?"
"can i?" wonyoung grabbed a crayon from the box, waiting for hannah's answer.
"of course, wonyoung."
wonyoung felt perfect.
wonyoung was stupid.
she didn't understand how she could get a 78% in english. perhaps she had been too enamored by their english teacher, the young woman from overseas who had cat-like eyes and a soft, comforting voice that felt like a blanket.
still, she should be doing better. she had gone to an english speaking preschool. most of her friends spoke english as well. she even had cousins across the planet that lived in english speaking countries.
the young heiress felt herself tense as she heard her father sigh beside her. her teacher, pretty and proper, sat in front of them, alongside the principal. only a dark mahogany desk separated the two parties, but wonyoung wished it was more.
"a tutor?" jang wonseok voice was sharp, yet deep and demanding. "why would she need a tutor?"
she needed a tutor because she was stupid. wonyoung was a stupid girl.
she held her tongue back, the knot in her throat increasing as she felt her father radiate anger.
"wonyoung is struggling in english." the eight year-old could hear the worry in her teacher's voice, but she didn't know if it was directed at her or at her father. "it's normal for kids her age too, but she has a hard time with the structure."
the young heiress wanted to go home. she wanted to sit in her dark room, in her closet behind the mahogany doors, the one that had twelve knots, an imperfection that was smooth to the touch.
it was the only imperfection she could bear because jang's can't come with imperfections.
wonyoung wished she wasn't a jang, or at the very least, she wasn't wonyoung.
"if it's normal then why does my daughter need it?" the young jang didn't need to turn to know that her father was scowling at the pretty girl in front of them. she could already hear it in his voice.
"well, since you did sign her up for the advanced placement in our school, it'll be hard for her to keep up with the class." her teacher was calm. wonyoung liked calm. "a tutor would help her and-"
"my daughter doesn't need a tutor."
she did. wonyoung knew she did.
but her father rarely acknowledged her, much less as his daughter. part of her had wondered if he did it purposefully, but it didn't matter. not right now, at least.
"right, wonyoung?"
wonyoung couldn't continue to be a disappointment.
"no."
"get up." her father smirked. he stood up, dusting his tailored dress pants. "we're leaving."
"yes, dad."
obedience was perfection, just like status was worth.
wonyoung just wished that it didn't have to break a part of her every time she did it.
jang wonseok stormed out, and wonyoung could feel the embarrassment fluttering across her chest. her eyes met her principal's, his face scowled in disdain.
jang's had pride, but wonyoung knew better than to leave as such.
the eight-year-old bowed. she bowed as an apology for her and her father and as a sign of respect for the two school staff who took time out of their way out of concern for her.
"jang wonyoung!"
her eyes widened, and wonyoung found herself bolting out of the room, her school bag clutched against her chest.
jang wonseok was scary.
the two made their way into wonseok's mercedes, wonyoung hopping inside, as her father started the car.
the two drove in silence, wonyoung knowing better than to speak once spoken to. she didn't want to anger her father any further, otherwise it would fall onto her mother, which would fall onto her.
she didn't have time for that. she needed to study.
her stomach grumbled lowly, the sudden sound making her head jolt up.
oh, she needed to eat too. she had forgotten about that along the way, too anxious about the parent-teacher meeting that happened to eat lunch earlier that day.
she needed to eat and then study. if she studied as soon as she got home, she would have time to draw or watch cartoons without sacrificing her grades.
was she even allowed to watch cartoons now? her mother had always called them nonsense but wonyoung liked to turn off her brain once in a while. maybe that's why she was stupid. maybe that's why she was like this.
or maybe she was just like this because she was wonyoung.
"your teacher pisses me off." wonseok turned the corner. "is she always like that?"
did she always care about wonyoung? yes, more than her father did.
but she wasn't going to tell him that.
"no."
"hm." wonseok hummed, the car coming to a halt as the traffic light turned red. he glanced at his daughter, gaze cold and stern. "you shouldn't be struggling, wonyoung. that's not how i raised you."
the young heiress wasn't raised by her father or her mother. at eight, she already knew that, and it angered her to think that they kept trying to take credit for her actions, whether it be good or bad.
hannah raised her. not jang wonseok.
but she still held his last name, like how his blood flowed through her veins, and how his title affected her daily life.
"you're a jang." the car started to move again. "jang's don't need help. you think my father helped me? you think he made me how i am?"
part of her wondered if her grandfather had treated her father like this, or if her father was just mean to be mean.
"do you understand what i'm saying?"
wonyoung nodded, obedient as ever. "yes."
"when you get home, i expect you to be studying." wonyoung frowned. her father would most likely be in his study, one that had a clear view of the kitchen. "hannah will keep an eye on you."
"hannah's sick." she was in no shape to take care of the young jang. in fact, wonyoung had been taking care of her. "she should stay in her room. i can just ask my friends-"
"how much do you know, wonyoung?" wonseok asked, practically waving her shortcomings in front of her face. the young girl stayed silent. "exactly. and your friends know as much as you do. hannah will be making sure you stay on track."
wonyoung knew better than to argue, so she listened like she always did.
"yes, dad."
wonyoung wished she could stop listening, just this once.
there were twelve knots on the inside of her mahogany-boarded closet. four were broken in half, caught in between doors while the rest scattered.
there were fifty slits on said doors, one hundred in total. she liked the way the light peaked in, and how warm she felt when it hit her face.
there were three pillows that scattered the ground in said closet. one was bunny-shaped, pastel blue with beady eyes that wonyoung had gotten for her ninth birthday. the other two were throw pillows, white in color, ones that her mother had given her this year, on her tenth.
the hard, cold ground was covered with a blanket, navy blue and fluffy, one that hadn't been washed in over two months. wonyoung's initials were stitched onto the side, but it was only a reminder that she and this closet, her escape, were owned by her father.
it was her father who owned this house, who owned her existence, just like he owned a second child.
her father was a cheater. wonyoung had heard it in between slits of the one hundred panels that made up the majority of her closet's entrance.
"cheater!" she heard.
"liar!" she heard.
crying, she heard.
she wished she could stop hearing it in her head, how her mother's sharp cries echoed in her skull, and how jiyoung blamed everything on the ten-year-old jang wonyoung.
it's my fault.
it always was.
a shadow passed through the holes of her closet, blocking the sunlight as it reached her eyes. wonyoung wondered how long she had been inside, the fighting reaching its climax at around four that morning.
she only wanted to study.
the shadow stayed still as if it was contemplating leaving. the young jang hoped that it was her mother, coming to apologize for the careless words that she had yelled an hour ago.
but jang jiyoung never apologized, just like she never cried.
the shadow spoke.
"wonyoung..."
the young jang stood up, opening the opposite door in a hurry.
the ten-year-old grabbed her arm, bracing it gently as the older woman smiled. she could see hannah holding a cup of water, waves rippling with each shake of her hand.
"you should be resting." she furrowed her eyebrows.
hannah merely stared, not budging as the young heiress felt herself getting more desperate.
wonyoung begged. "hannah, please."
"i'm not leaving until we talk." the older woman shook her head, standing her ground.
hannah was like her, stubborn in every sense. she cared too much to let wonyoung wallow in her sorrows. the young jang knew she would be lost without her guidance.
"can you at least sit?" wonyoung tried to reason, ushering hannah to her bed.
she nodded, allowing wonyoung to lead her. she sat down, handing wonyoung the glass, who took it carefully as if hannah was the one that was fragile.
the two sat in silence, and all hannah could remember was wonyoung at four years old, crying about her mother.
it was no different this time.
"it's not your fault." the older woman started. "your mom is just angry."
jiyoung was an angry person, like wonseok.
but wonseok wanted calm, and jiyoung hadn't been the person to provide that.
"do you think she would be happier if i was never born?" wonyoung asked, her thoughts echoing the shouting of her mother.
hannah couldn't fathom anyone saying such words about their child.
"if i could, i would." the ten-year-old wonyoung meant it truthfully. "i don't like seeing mom upset. i keep trying to fix it but i'm just too..."
wonyoung knew the word. she had felt it at four years old. she had felt it at eight. wonyoung was sure she wasn't going to stop feeling it until she died.
she knew the word because it's what she was.
"worthless."
the word that summed her up in all parts hung in the air as hannah stared at her in shock.
"wonyoung-"
"i am though!" wonyoung never raised her voice, but wonyoung wasn't perfect. she never was and never would be. "if i wasn't like this, mom would love me. dad would pay attention to me. he wouldn't have cheated if i was better."
wonyoung wondered how someone could be so imperfect. she wondered if she was doomed to be alone, to be unwanted, and to ruin every good thing on this planet.
"it's my fault."
"it's not, wonyoung." wonyoung wanted to believe hannah, but she couldn't this time. "your mom and your dad have a very complicated relationship."
wonyoung shook her head. she was the reason it was complicated.
"i wish dad would stop yelling at mom." wonyoung placed the still full glass on her counter. "i wish mom would stop yelling at me."
wonyoung didn't remember a time when her mother didn't yell at her. whether it was a bad grade or to wash the dishes, it was always a yell.
"i'm at the top of my class. i'm friends with all the people dad told me to be friends with. i even skipped a grade. everyone keeps telling them that they want a daughter like me, but mom and dad don't even want me." wonyoung just wanted someone to want her. "i don't know what to do anymore."
if she could, wonyoung would disappear.
"you're ten, wonyoung." this wasn't right, not for anyone and especially not for a ten-year-old. "you don't have to do anything."
wonyoung really wanted to believe her.
"i just want them to love me."
the young heiress had wished the unconditional love that everyone had talked about applied to her when it came to her parents. she had heard that it was supposed to happen as soon as she was born.
perhaps she missed out this time, in this life, because in this life, she was worthless.
but not to hannah. never to hannah.
"i love you."
wonyoung had never felt love from her mother, but she had always felt love from hannah.
"you do?"
"i do." hannah smiled sadly. it hurt to know that wonyoung had felt this way (and how there was a chance that her baby felt the same, wherever she was). "i know how complicated families can be..."
wonyoung had never heard hannah speak about her family, but she knew that the older woman would be a good, if not amazing one.
part of her was jealous that someone out there had a mom like hannah, when she had a mom like jiyoung.
"do you have family, hannah?"
the woman, hands shakey, grasped them together tightly. her lips were pursed, and a mournful expression seemed to overtake the comforting one from before.
"i have a daughter back home." her baby was nine pounds and twenty-one inches with a head full of hair. when hannah closed her eyes, she could hear her baby crying for her mother. "i had her really young."
her baby. her beautiful baby girl.
"do you miss her?" wonyoung asked.
"i miss her a lot." missing her was an understatement. "i haven't heard from her in years."
"why?"
she could think of a million reasons why, all of which she held to herself, in grief and in sorrow.
hannah was a bad mother for abandoning her child, and a bad daughter for being so reckless.
"i grew up really poor." hannah couldn't even begin to compare the jang's house to the one she had back home. "i couldn't find a job, so i moved overseas. i left my baby with my mom."
but her child lived, and her child was loved, even from afar.
"do you love her?"
"i do." hannah couldn't think about not loving her. "i love her so much."
"but you left her."
"i left because i loved her." wonyoung's eyes glistened at the word. she couldn't imagine leaving someone out of love. perhaps disappearing, but leaving was unfathomable. "i'd rather have her grow up hating me than die starving. i just wish i can go back. i just wanna my baby one more time."
this was the unconditional love that everyone had praised. it was the homemade bento boxes, and the tight hugs that wonyoung would see from her friends and their moms. it was the tearful goodbyes from her best friend's grandparents, and the thoughtful notes that her seatmate would find in her bag.
to love someone is to do what's best for them, to do the right thing.
was wonyoung the best for her parents? were her parents the best for wonyoung?
did they even love her?
"you're a good mom, hannah." wonyoung hugged her tightly. "i wish you were my mom."
wonyoung couldn't imagine it, having someone risk everything just for her to be happy. she couldn't imagine loving someone so much, but one day, whether it be a child or someone else, she would love to.
wonyoung wanted to love someone right.
she looked at the tearful hannah, the older woman smiling down at her.
"i promise that when i'm older, i'll make sure you can go back and see your family again."
it was a promise that wonyoung intended to keep.
"thank you, wonyoung."
hannah didn't doubt her. not for one second.
the jang's were never good at keeping promises.
jang wonseok was a politician. keeping promises and breaking them was part of the territory. every campaign he held at least a couple empty pledges, just like he did back home. the twelve-year-old jang wonyoung knew that.
plus, there was no way she'd actually believe what her father said. not after he betrayed her mother.
jang jiyoung was no better. being a news anchor, she had always run a tight schedule. for days, wonyoung wouldn't see her despite each promise that the woman would make, and although she didn't mind, sometimes the young jang did want someone to eat dinner with, even if it was just a cup of instant noodles they could share.
wonyoung thought she was different. that she was hannah's daughter and not a jang.
but it ran in her blood.
"hannah knew me before i knew her."
the microphone echoed, the twelve-year-old's shakey hands grasping tightly onto the paper in front of her, her fingerprints making light marks against the blank white.
"she went with my mom to get an ultrasound when she was pregnant with me." her parents were nowhere to be seen, her father at a meeting and her mother at work. "they said i was a big baby, but hannah said i was a special baby."
to love someone is to do the right thing. letting go was the right thing.
"i don't think i'm special. i think i'm just wonyoung." the crowd laughed. hannah would've laughed too. "hannah was the special one. she knew how to make me feel better. she knew when i was sick before i got sick. she even knew the weather before it happened."
wonyoung didn't want to let go, but she would, for hannah.
"hannah told me that she hadn't seen her baby in a while." she hoped hannah's baby knew how loved she was, and she hoped that her words could reach her, even if it was far away. "i promised her that when i was older, i would make sure she saw them."
the jang's were known to break promises.
"i thought she was gonna live forever. i wanted her to live forever, or just long enough so i can keep my promise. for once, i just wanted to make her feel better. hannah always made me feel better." wonyoung didn't know when the page got so blurry, or why water was pouring out of her eyes. "i thought if i loved her enough, i could fix it. i could do it."
she didn't know how she managed to fail the one person who believed in her.
"i want to apologize to her today. i should've tried harder." she had everything. why couldn't she try harder to give hannah this one? she might've been a twelve-year-old, but still. "i'm sorry, hannah. i'm really really sorry."
to love someone is to do the right thing, but wonyoung realized it was also to mourn, and to be angry at herself for not being better. her failures stared her in the face, the casket mocking her as if she was nothing.
she didn't want to think about it anymore. she had failed, and wonyoung wanted nothing more than for this pain to be gone.
sighing, she stepped down from the lectern.
hannah was her own. her mother.
and like a shadow, she was gone.
death seemed to round the corners of the jang household.
she could see boxes upon boxes piling up in front of their penthouse, her mother glaring into the distance half-heartedly, conflicted with her pain.
jang jiyoung was a lee once. she was the younger sister of lee jihuyn, and the aunt of the ten-year-old lee hyunseo.
lee jihyun always smelt like flowers whenever she was around. it was no wonder why jang wonseok was so fond of her.
"this is hyunseo." her father said, patting the heiress on her shoulder. it pained wonyoung to see him so happy to have his affair child around, especially after- no. wonyoung didn't deserve to think about her again. "she'll be staying with us."
wonyoung nodded bowing as the younger girl stared at her in wonder.
"hello, hyunseo."
wonseok smiled at the young girl in a way wonyoung never got when she was hyunseo's age. "wonyoung will show you your room."
wonyoung's face twitched in disdain before switching into a soft smile.
she led hyunseo up to hann a room, unoccupied yet cleared of any existence that came before it.
hyunseo didn't deserve this room.
wonyoung turned to the younger girl. "this is your ro-"
"can i call you unnie?" the lee couldn't help but gleam at her, her eyes bright as the han river glared back into her new room. "i never had an unnie before. it was just me, mom and dad all the time."
wonyoung bit back a scowl.
her dad. hyunseo was lucky she had a dad.
"i'll ask the butlers to bring your stuff up." wonyoung couldn't help but be cold. "i have a school tour to go to."
"oh..." she watched as the younger girl deflated, and wonyoung couldn't help but feel guilty. hyunseo bounced back, though, her expression brighter than before.
"okay!"
wonyoung didn't understand how she could be so happy.
wonyoung had never been to a public school.
her father and mother had always opted to have her in a private one, yet the presence of a public school with such a reputation around their area had the jang's interested.
wonyoung had to agree that the high school was fairly nice. it had its own swimming pool, and it was clearly popular among international students, wonyoung seeing a few as she passed by.
everything else was pretty much the same as every other school, though. nothing stood out, at least nothing of interest.
the heiress found herself walking back to the entrance, scrolling through her phone to get her butler to pick her up. as she dialed, screams and cheers could be heard from the gym.
she should've known better than to enter, but wonyoung's facade was wearing her down. the newly impulsive jang crept inside, more and more yelling filling her skull. it wasn't angry yelling, but a cheerful one.
she didn't understand what could be so interesting.
the heiress felt herself getting swept away, a sudden crowd forming around one of the players as the final whistle blew.
her eyes trained onto the figure, two adults, seemingly the girl's parents, hugging her tightly as the girl cried.
the girl was perfect in every sense, from her face to the way she smiled. she didn't doubt that the older girl probably had perfect grades, and a perfect family, with a set of perfect friends.
the crowd around her roared, and wonyoung realized that the girl in front of her was so loved, so respected, all because she was perfect.
to love someone is to do the right thing.
one day, she'd be perfect enough to have her parents love her. one day, she'll feel like she wasn't a mistake, that she wasn't worthless.
and one day, someday, wonyoung would be perfect enough to mention her name once more.
she'll do the right thing this time.
wonyoung was going to be perfect.

Thirty To Regain
Parings: Kim Minji x fem!reader
Sypnosis: 10 months of loss, thirty to regain.
Genre: Slight angst
Memories came flooding in of the bitter yet sweet memory of your first love as you reenter your apartment for the first time in 10 months.
Kim Minji was everywhere you looked, in the kitchen, living room, bedroom, everywhere. There wasnât a single place that stood without her memories.
You felt as if you were going crazy as you heard a ghostly echoes of her laughter.
The place you once called âHomeâ havenât been the same since she left. Because she was your home but now that sheâs gone, home doesnât exist.
You turned to your right, facing a bulletin board filled with polaroid pictures of you and Minji.
You took one of the pictures out, it was taken right when she stole your first kiss. You havenât smiled like that in ages, or even smiled at all.
As you were looking through all of the photos, a sudden phone call rung, startling you in the process. âHi momâ you immediately relaxed after hearing her voice.
âHi honey, when are you flying back home?â
âMaybe next week? And how are you mom? Is dad giving you a hard time?â
âIâm managing, but honey, your dad is getting suspicious, but I can hold him on for a little longer. Just make sure to be back before your engagement party.â
You frowned after hearing the two last words, you hated getting reminded of that, after all itâs the reason why things are the way it is.
âRight. Donât worry, I wonât disappoint you.â
âOh honey, you could never disappoint me. Your happiness is my happiness, Iâll support whatever you decide to do in the end. Just know that mom will always be on your side, I love you.â
âI love you too mom, good bye.â You felt better after the call, your mom have always been your biggest supporter since day one. Canât say the same for your dad though.
You held your breath as you went into your bedroom, it was still the same as how you left it 10 months ago except for the fact that her stuff was gone.
All was left was a teddy bear, one that she won for you at the carnival that you guys went to, on your first date.
You lifted the toy and traced its fuzzy fur. A teddy bear filled with memories of the times Minji would jokingly call him your son. She gave it a purpose, but now that sheâs gone, itâs just an object.
Before you even knew it, tears were threatening to fall as you were clutching the teddy bear to your chest. Fresh air, you needed fresh air.
With a heavy heart, you placed the bear back to its rightful position before you ran out of your apartment.
You went anywhere your feet would take you to, you just wanted to stop reliving your memories.
But walking through the streets of Seoul wasnât any better, she was everywhere being a member of NewJeans after all.
They were getting bigger and bigger everyday, you have always been their biggest supporter then and even now. Even before you got together with her, you were also extremely close with the girls.
So when Minji went back to the dorms with a broken heart after you had broken up with her, they were all understandingly upset at you.
Especially Hyein whoâs your little cousin, she wouldnât talk to you for days but then found out about your dadâs plan of marrying you off.
You had to beg her not to tell her members but it was too late since she already told Hanni, Dani, Haerin, and luckily not Minji.
That night, your phone was blowing up with concerned messages from the girls. You were always grateful to have them in your life, they treated you like family.
It felt like time was slowing down as your feet carried you through a familiar street which you missed dearly. Soon, you find yourself heading inside of a cafe you once visited regularly.
The smell of roasted beans and baked goods hit your nose immediately after stepping foot inside of the cafe.
You decided that it was a good time for a hot drink. After putting in your regular order, you waited a bit for the worker to finish with it before finding a place to sit.
You sipped your hot chocolate and was about to pull out your phone when you were interrupted by a gasp from behind .
âYn unnie?â A familiar voice called out. You turned around and was shocked to face Hyein and Haerin who were both as equally shocked.
âUnnie we missed you!â Your cousin immediately went to hug you with Haerin doing the same after the younger girl stepped aside.
âWhy didnât you tell me that youâre coming back?â Hyein pouted and slapped your arm playfully, causing you to let out a chuckle.
âSorry, I donât plan on staying long anyways. Just for a few days sinceâŚwell, uh, Iâm getting engaged next week.â You explained regretfully, your voice dropping when you spoke about the engagement.
âWhat? Thatâs so soonâŚwhat about Minji unnie? You still love her donât you?â Haerin questioned with her curious cat like eyes, you couldnât help but soften up.
âOf course I do, Rin. I still love her a lot, but itâs complicated.â Truth to be said, all you wanted to do was run back to Minji and beg her to take you back.
âStill, I think Minji unnie deserves to know about it, itâs only fair.â The younger girl insisted gently, earning an agreeing nod from Hyein.
âHaerin unnie is right! Yn unnie, you should tell her, she doesnât deserve to stay in the dark.â
Both of the girls looked at you pleadingly, they were sick of having to hide such a big secret from Minji, it didnât feel right.
But you didnât feel any better, it was eating you alive.
âI donât think thatâs a good idea, sheâll only hate me more. Plus, Iâve already broken her heart and to find out that Iâm getting married too? I canât do that to her.â During the time when you were still dating Minji, the biggest thing that you guys had after love was trust.
You both trusted each other so much, never hiding anything from one another. So hiding this from her even if you guys arenât together, was killing you inside.
The girls stayed quiet for a moment, trying to find the right words to comfort you.
âYouâre wrong, she doesnât hate you. Unnie still have your pictures hung on her wall and stuff and sometimes I would find her just looking at it for 10 minutes straight.â Hyein admitted after seeing the sad expression that laid on her cousinâs face.
âReally?â Your eyes widened up at the information before looking at Haerin to confirm.
She nodded. âYeah I witnessed it too, more than once actually.â
Hyein placed a hand on your shoulder, looking at you pleading. âI feel like a child of divorced parents. Unnie I really donât like your future fiancĂŠ, sheâs so mean.â
You sighed knowing full well that she was right. Youâve known your future wife since you were kids but never liked her. She was snobby, mean, and an entitled brat.
She used to always follow you around and would hit anyone who tried to talk to you, Hyein was one of them. She was only 6 when she got pushed to the ground while trying to play with her older cousin.
It was when the younger girlâs resentment started to grow.
âI know Hye, but I donât have a choice.â
âStill, you should talk to her. You both really need it.â
You nodded in defeat, you could never reject your baby cousin. âIâll think abo-â you didnât get to finished your sentence as you got interrupted by the notifications from your phone.
A sigh escaped your lips as you read one of the many messages that your dad spammed you with. Totally ruining your once happy mood.
Turning to Haerin and Hyein with a sad smile, you said. âIt was wonderful meeting you girls, but I have to take this, sadly.â
You hugged them both for the last time before disappearing out of their sight.
âWho were you two talking toâ Minji popped out of nowhere, startling the two girls in the process.
âUh, we were talking to Y-â Hyein was stopped by Haerin who stomped on her toes. âNo one, we were taking to no oneâ
âAre you sure?â They nodded in sync, it was suspicious but Minji decided to not dig deeper as it was already late at night.
âOkay then, letâs go back to the car, our manager is waiting.â
The question from your mom left you dazed. Is she worth fighting for? Of course she is.
Kim Minji will always be worth it.
You couldnât believe that you were actually proceeding with the plan that you and your cousin made.
But there you were, your heart pounding as you were standing alone backstage, waiting for Minji to arrive.
The last time you were this nervous was when you were asking her to be your girlfriend.
Seeing her again after so long would be hard, but you had to fix things or at least try.
Being too clouded with your thoughts, you hadnât realized that she had already arrived in the room, her eyes opened wide as if she had just saw a ghost.
âMinji, can we talk? Please.â You looked at her pleadingly, facing her was nerve wreaking, she was still the same Kim Minji whom you love more than anything in the world combined.
âWhat are you doing here?â She spoke in a harsh tone, one that she never used with you.
But then again, you shouldâve prepared yourself for this reaction, you were the one broke her heart after all.
You took a deep breath, trying to seem calm but in reality, you were anything but calm. âThereâs a lot to explain. I made mistakes and left you in the dark but I canât hold it in any longer. I know I have no rights to want this from you but I need you to listen.â
Minjiâs stare softened a little. You knew deep down she still cares. âWhat is it?â You could hear the hurt inside her words. âWhat could you possibly say to fix this?â
âWell, for starters Iâm getting engaged next week.â You started off with the main root of the problem, it was a bad idea but you werenât thinking at the time.
Minji looked at you and scoffed. âWhat? Seriously? First, you broke up with me without telling me why, then you disappeared for like 10 months and now youâre back just to say that you found a new lover who youâll be getting married to?â She glared at you with arms crossed. âYouâre ridiculous Yn, actually.â
Your heart was aching but you chose to continue gently, looking at her with sincerity. âI know I am and Iâm so sorry, no amount of apologies can fix this. I still love you Minji.â
Minji frozed at your words. âNo you donâtâ she denied. âNot anymore at least.â
Your heart dropped. âI understand that you donât believe me and youâre mad, b-â
âYouâre right, I am.â
âBut please listen to what I have to say.â You looked at her pleadingly. You would go as far as to beg on your knees, anything to get her to listen to you.
âWhat is there to say? Youâve found yourself a new girl, thatâs it.â
Your heart dropped at every words that were coming out of her mouth. Especially since it couldnât be further from the truth, you just needed to explain yourself before you go crazy.
You reached for her hands, meeting her gaze with open sincerity. âPlease just listen, I love you so much, it feels like Iâm going insane!â
âYou canât just leave and shut me out of your life just to come back and say that, itâs not fair.â
âWell, I had no choice! My dad never approved of us, he wanted me to marry a woman I do not love, if not heâll do anything in his power to make you disappear from my life completely. So I complied, I did not want to lose you Min, but I had no choice.â You felt like you were being suffocated on spot, the walls around you were spinning around. You wanted to disappear.
Minjiâs once cold face turned into a concerned one before turning into a slight frown. âYou idiot! You shouldâve told me the truth from the start!â She exclaimed as she slapped you gently on the shoulder.
âYouâre right to call me an idiot, I shouldâve told you from the start. But I was afraid that if I let you know then Iâll have no choice but to go against my dadâs wishes.â
âWhat changed?â
From the moment you arrived on earth, youâve never went against your dad. Youâre your dadâs daughter after all, but you were always miserable with him around.
But not being around Kim Minji was even worse than any punishment combined.
Squeezing her hands gently with regrets staining your confession. âEveryday without you have been hell. I shouldâve realized it sooner but now I know that my love for you is stronger than any threats, even if it means that there will be trouble.â
She stayed quiet but you knew that she was listening. That was your thing, understanding each other without needing words to say it.
Gazing into her eyes, your heart spilled open. âYou are my home, Min. My heart belongs to you. Always has, always will.â
A heavy silence fell. She knew you better than any, even yourself, every emotion held in you have been made obvious to her. Her eyes held an answer yet, and rightfully so trust should be re-earned.
âThirty days.â Minji said gently yet firm. But you felt confused. âThirty days?
âIâll give you thirty days to regain my trust.â She took a steady breath. âShow me your sincerity, make me believe that we can work.â
Your eyes sparkled as you nodded in determination. âThirty days, I promise to be better, no secrets, Iâll tell you everything.â
Squeezing your hand, Minji replied. âI want to believe in us again.â
âIâll make you believe.â

Sweet Memories
Pairings: Kim Minji x fem!reader
Synopsis: When life gets too hard, you go down memory lane.
Genre: Fluff
Minji knew that she shouldnât be overworking herself, but how could she not when there are thousands of people ready to critique her imperfections.
It didnât help that she let them get to her head, making her focus too much on perfecting her moves rather than enjoying herself.
But no matter how perfect something is, people will always try to find flaws. Thatâs just human, but that doesnât mean that itâs okay.
Due to the growing popularity of NewJeans, the group gained many fans but with fans, comes a bunch of jobless haters. Just a bunch of snakes, waiting for a victim to spit their venom at.
It so happened that Minji became one of their many targets. Endless of cruel words being said about her, words that are not true, words that have been exaggerated to fit the narrative that they view her as.
You would know, being in the same situation as her and as well as being her supporting pillar since your trainee days. You were one of the very few kind hearted people left, a pure soul who genuinely find beauty in everything.
These past few months have been stressful for the girls, but especially for Minji whoâs the oldest of the 6. Because being the oldest means that sheâll always get more criticism from the public, even if sheâs not the official leader.
You have seen how bad it gets on her bad days, she wouldnât talk much, and keeps to herself a lot. And it hurts to see because your girlfriend have been hurting and you canât do anything to stop the source of her sorrows.
âMinji, talk to me.â
Minji have been keeping to herself for way too long, she was like a ticking bomb just waiting to explode at any moment. Everyone was worried about her, especially you.
âPlease, I donât want to talk about it.â Minji whispered as she laid on your shared bed covering herself with a blanket, with her back facing you.
You bit your lips, genuinely frustrated that you werenât able to make her feel better. âMin, I know how hard it is for you to talk about your feelingsâŚjust know that Iâm here to listen, just like what you did for me.â
She wasnât responding but you knew that she was listening. You took a deep breathe before continuing. âRemember that night? February, 5th, 2019â
You were a trainee long before she joined the company, being one of the best trainee in the whole company.
You were all of the teacherâs favorite and was very popular amongst the trainees and staffs as well.
Minji first thought that a fellow trainee was exaggerating when they said that you were like an angel sent to earth, but soon after she met you, she could understand fully why people admired you so much.
Youâre the most beautiful person she have ever met, both beautiful in and out. Many people have said that perfection doesnât exist, but clearly theyâve never met you.
You would always be surrounded by trainees who were desperate to share a conversation with you, even a glance would make them fall on their knees.
You were very well spoken and your voice was angelic, people couldnât help but shut themselves up whenever you talk.
But theyâre also the same people who make up their own version of you. Never really intrigued enough to want to know you, the real you, and for the longest time, Minji was one of those people too.
All until one night, the night that changed everything.
[February, 5th, 2019]
It was late at night, almost everyone was out of the company by then and Minji was preparing to go too, having practiced for 8 hours straight, she was dying to enjoy the warmth of her bed.
Humming to herself as she strolled down the dark halls, chills suddenly went down her spine, the company was undeniably creepy during those times. Minji was praying that the rumored company ghost wouldnât appear in front of her.
As she was about halfway to the elevator, sounds of someone crying reached her ears. Minji eyes went wide, heart pounding as she stopped her steps.
No this will not be how I did she thought
Minji really wanted to sprint to the elevator, maybe even jump down the flight of stairs, all to get away from the crying sound that she was sure that itâs the ghost
But her body was betraying her, her feet moving towards the room and before she could comprehend what had happened, her hands were already pushing the door to get into the room.
Minji felt her breath hitched as her eyes wandered onto the girl whose face was covered by the palm of her hands, but also feeling relieved that it wasnât a ghost.
It was you, she could recognize you from a mile away. Probably because she spends too much time looking at your figure from afar whenever you guys are in the same room.
She felt a magnetic force pulling her towards you. Minji kneeled down and put her hands on your shoulders, you were startled at first but then your eyes soften when you realized that it was only her.
She felt her heart stop beating for a moment as she scanned your face, gosh you still looked gorgeous even while crying.
âYn, are you okay?â To say that Minji was concerned would be an understatement, she herself doesnât even know why her heart ached at how sad you looked.
âI wish I could say that I am, but that would be untruthful.â Your eyes were watery, an overwhelming amount of worries wandered your mind.
Minji eyes soften even more if thatâs even possible, she softly caressed your hand. âI know weâre not close, and we donât talk much either but you can talk to me.â
You took a deep breathe, you donât know why but after looking into her genuine eyes, you felt like you could tell her anything and everything.
âItâs just that everything and everyone have been so overwhelming, the teachers they are always expecting the best out of me and are always putting so much pressure, I mean I thrive in pressure but itâs always way too much whenever they bragged and compared me to other trainees, and the other traineesâŚthey talk. I donât understand why I care so much about what they discussed about me, but I do. I donât think they know that I heard what theyâve been saying about me eitherâŚâ
âWhat have they been saying about you?â
âThey talk behind my back, saying that Iâm a show off, that Iâm doing too much, desperate for attention, they call me names, they mock meâŚbut the thing that I donât understand is how could they be so different when theyâre in front of me, they act as if we are friends, almost had me fooledâŚsorry for ranting to you, I just needed to get this out of my chest and thank you for listening it means a lot.â
All of the things youâve said surprised her, for the longest time she thought that everyone loved you. How could she not when on the surface they would do anything to try to impress you, but if only she knew how two faced those people are.
Minji wished that she could beat the crap out of whoever talked bad about you, it disgusted her that even for an angel like you, they would still be able to make up shit to talk about.
She still couldnât understand why would they think that way about someone like you, a person who never talked back to anyone, always too kind that may be deemed as a pushover, soft spoken, you were just too perfect for them and it makes you a threat.
âPeople are cruel and we canât do anything about that, but you did not deserve to receive their cruelty.â Minji softly muttered as she used her palm to lift your face up, her eyes stuck onto yours.
âYn, you are genuinely the kindest person Iâve known and I do not understand why people think itâs a good reason to step on you for that. But take my word when I say that youâll be far more successful than them, they can stay mad, jealous, and miserable. But you are a star, you shine wherever you go, even in the darkest room, youâll be able to shine. So cheer up, I miss your smile!â
For the first time in very long time, you finally felt genuinely happy, a smile slowly making way onto your face. âAha! Come on get up, letâs go do something fun!â Minji felt proud of herself as she got you to get up with a smile on your face, slowly forgetting your sadness.
âWhat is something you do when you want to feel like yourself again?â
âHmm?â You pondered for a moment before a bigger smile appeared on your face. âI have something, come on Iâll show you!â Your voice and face were filled with excitement as you dragged the older girl with you.
The two of you laughed along the way, about nothing in particular, it was just the right mood to laugh.
âTa-dah!â
âThis is yours?!â Her jaw dropped as you both were standing in front of your precious motorcycle.
âYeah, it used to be my dadâs but he doesnât ride it anymore.â You informed before looking at Minji with a smirk on your face. âSurprised?â
âYeah, I mean you donât look like someone who ride motorcycles.â
âWhat does motorcycle riders look like exactly?â You looked at her with a teasing smile and then laughed once she couldnât find the words to explain.
âSorry that was stupid, I mean you look soft and well people who ride motorcycles at least in movies, are usually-â As she was about to finish her sentence, you interrupted with a big and goofy grin. âBig and scary?â
âYes! Gosh that is such a stereotype, maybe I should stop watching so much movies.â Minji laughed at herself.
âNo, I get it. A lot of them are, my dad is one of them, heâs big and kinda scary. Anyways, wanna go for a ride?â
âIt would be stupid to decline such offer!â Minji grinned as she hopped on the vehicle.
The two of you rode into the darkness of the night, worries fade away and replaced with laughters and unforgettable memories.
That was the night that changed everything.
[Present Time]
You forever felt grateful to Minji who listened to your ranting that night, if she werenât there you wouldâve given up your long life dreams.
âI was so upset that night but somehow you managed to cheer me up.â
âI donât know if you remembered the things youâve said but I will forever remember. Take my word when I say that youâll be far more successful than them, they can stay mad, jealous, and miserable. But you are a star, you shine wherever you go, even in the darkest room, youâll be able to shine.â You smiled as you recited her exact words before looking back at Minji who was still silent.
âIâve never told you this butâŚif it werenât for you that night, I wouldâve left my dreams behind and never look back. Youâre the most important person in my li-â You were startled by the sudden hug you received, but soon melted into her embrace, caressing for back once you heard a sob.
âI-I am really sorryâ she cried into your neck. âI know you are, but you shouldnât be sorry.â You replied softly.
âNo I should be sorry, sorry for not talking to you, for being distant, really sorry for being a bad girlfriend.â
âHey! Donât say that, youâre the best girlfriend and Iâll never find someone else like you.â You cupped her face with your hands and leaned in, softly placing a kiss on her forehead.
âYou better not.â She frowned as she point a finger in front of your face threateningly, but you found it cute. âAnd I do remember that night, and everything about that night. How could I forget when itâs the reason why youâre mine.â
You gave her a teasing grin. âIâm yours?â She nodded and intertwined her hands with yours. âMine.â Before leaning into your lips for a sweet kiss.

Girls
Pairings: Danielle Marsh x fem!reader
Synopsis : Under peer pressure, Danielle Marsh agreed to go to prom with her secret lover's twin brother
Genre: High school au, secret loversâŚ
Danielle Marsh had always known that she liked girls more than boys.
Her feelings for you started to appear in 3rd grade. Danielle thought that you were the prettiest girl sheâd ever laid eyes on.
âDani, letâs play family!â You exclaimed before pulling the Australian to the playground. âOkay Ynnie!â She found herself agreeing with whatever you want her to do.
âHmm, I want to be the mom!â You claimed your role being looking at the five other girls. âAnd Hyeinnie, you can be the baby because youâre the youngest!â
âIf Hyein is the baby then I want to be the rich auntie!â Hanni was next to claim her role, grabbing the youngest by her shoulders before ruffling her hair. âStop it unnie!â Hyein slapped her hands away.
âI want to be the other auntie! Haerin, you can be my cat!â Minji smiled widely and pulled Haerin to her side before the younger one could protest. âIâm not a cat thoâŚâ Haerin whined softly.
âDani, what do you want to be?â You asked her softly, awaiting for her answer.
Danielle pondered for a moment, before looking back at you with a bright smile that could rival the sun. âI want to be your wife!â
âOkay!â
Back in the days, everyone was carefree. No one cared if a little girl wanted to play a married couple with another girl.
But before and now is very different. Danielle had told a classmate that she likes girls back in 8th grade and they looked at her weird.
She felt upset, but quickly said that it was a joke when it wasnât. That was when she started to pretend that she doesnât like girls like that.
[Senior Year Of High School]
Danielle was getting ready for school when she heard a sound coming from outside of her window. She looked outside of her window and into yours.
There you were, as beautiful as ever. Danielle could describe you as someone with a pretty face that matches your pretty personality, with pretty lips that she kisses behind closed doors when no oneâs looking.
âDani! Do you want a ride? My older brother agreed to lend me his motorcycle!â You shouted from your window.
Your houses were next to each other since your parents are best friends and wanted to be neighbors too.
She nodded excitedly before shouting back. âYes, I do! Iâll be over in a bit, just let me get ready first!â You gave her a thumbs up before disappearing from her point of view.
She left her house before walking to face you. Her breath hitched at the sight of you wearing a leather jacket, with your body leaning on the motorcycle.
You looked mesmerizing.
âAbout time youâre done princesses.â You teased her before handing her an extra helmet. âHere you go.â
âThanks!â She looked around to see if anyone was looking before giving you a kiss to the cheek. After that, Danielle went on the motorcycle and wrapped her arms around your waist.
âAlright, hold onto me or youâll fly away!â You joked before turning on the engine and speeding away.
The ride with you felt like freedom, free from all the pressure that her parents have been putting on her to be the top student of the school.
âIsnât it beautiful?!â You shouted as you were on a speedy highway, the wind blowing your hair to the back. Danielle placed her chin on top of your shoulder to admire the view in front. âYeah it is, but not as beautiful as you though!â
You giggled. âDanielle Marsh, you are such a flirt!â before speeding past the cars around you.
âI should convince my brother to lend me this baby more often.â You say as the two of you arrived at the parking lot.
âYeah! It was fun if we ignore the part when you nearly crushed into a car.â That time, you were trying to look back at Danielle, luckily she notice just in time or else youâll both be in the hospital by now.
âCome on, princess! That car came out of no where!â You protested but Danielle could only laugh, though her stomach flutters at the use of the nickname youâve given her since the first time you two had a thing going on. âYeah sure, whatever you say.â
âYouâre mean!â Danielle felt a soft punch on her shoulder, she placed her hands on that exact place, looking offended. âHow dare you! Come back here, Park Yn!â
Danielle chased after you non stop, well until she reached the hallways where she got stopped by someone.
âHey, Danielle!â Park Jihyun, the schoolâs best basketball player approached her, also the guy she have been rejecting for 2 years straight. âUh, Hi?â She was a bit annoyed by the interruption as she still wanted to chase after you.
âI really like you, would you like to go on a date sometimes?â The poor guy looked so confident, she almost felt bad.
âSorry, Jihyun but Iâm not looking for anything right now.â She replied awkwardly but it was true, she wasnât looking for anything but she was looking for someone, you.
âUh itâs fine, I know Iâll get you to change your mind one day!â His face and voice still filled with confidence.
âAhem!â Comes a voice besides her, it was you.
âHey, little brother youâre not asking my best friend out, are you?â You gave Jihyun a teasing smile as you placed your arm around his shoulder, before looking back at Danielle.
She felt a little bitter when you called her your best friend, girlfriend is what she shouldâve been called.
âWeâre the same age you know? Iâm like only an hour younger!â Park Jihyun exclaimed and turned to leave but not before winking at Danielle. âYouâll say yes one day!â
âHeâs so annoying, I shouldâve ate him when we were still in my momâs stomach!â Danielle laughed at your antics before intertwining her hands with yours. âLetâs go to class before Ms.Lee actually eats us alive.â
âDanielle! I heard that Jihyun is going to ask you to be his partner for prom!â Hanni who sat right next to her informed. âWill you say yes?â
âI was hoping he wonât! And no way, not in a million years.â Danielle replied before closing the book that she have been reading.
âCome on Danielle, you too would look so good together!â Said by of her classmates who sat in front of her.
She shook her head in denial. Thereâs no way that sheâll accept him, ever!
âWe all know you like him back! Stop playing hard to get!â One of the most annoying gossiper teased her.
Okay, who is we? Because Danielle would like to have a word with them.
Everything they said started to get on her nerves, but of course you came in to save her day, as always.
âWhy would Dani want to go with my idiot playboy brother, he doesnât deserve her.â You chuckled before placing your palm on her shoulder. âRight, Dani?â She nodded, earning a satisfying look on your face.
He doesnât deserve me, but you do.
This was not how she planned the day to be. Danielle was preparing her books to put in her lockers, when she was interrupted by an annoying voice she grew to hate.
There he was, Park Jihyun in all his glory. He asked her to go to prom with him.
Nearly all of the students in the school was watching them and chanting for her to accept his proposal. You were there.
Everything was overwhelming and she said yes due to peer pressure. An action she regretted immediately after seeing your hurt face.
Everything started to get rocky after that day. You wouldnât look her in the face and would only give her short relies.
She could hope that prom comes faster so it could all be over. She missed the kisses that you two shared in secret.
âDo I really have to go?â Danielle whined as he mom was helping her zip up her dress. âOf course you have to Danielle! Jihyun is a nice boy, Iâm glad you said yes to him!â
Yeah, because everyone was shouting at me to say yes, is what she wanted to say but instead, Danielle kept her mouth shut.
Her eyes lingers to the view of your bedroom, your lights was turned on and she could see that you were doing something on your computer.
If only she hadnât say yes. Danielle felt horrible, but she couldnât just not go after agreeing to go with Jihyun.
âDanielle, Jihyunâs here!â Her dad announced. Well thereâs no turning back now.
It was like any typical Friday night, well except for the fact that thereâs a prom party going on at your school that you arenât going to.
You have been really upset with Danielle lately, often going as far as to ignore her when she tried to talk to you.
You knew it was childish, but how could you not be jealous when the girl you had a thing going on with, decides to go to prom with your twin brother.
Sure, you guys werenât girlfriends but you werenât friends either. What friends kiss each other on the lips.
The ongoing bitterness of the situation and the fact that it was raining outside made it perfect for blasting sad songs to cry to, no one was home and you could do whatever you wanted.
âStupid Jihyun.â You muttered bitterly as you scrolled upon your brotherâs instagram post. You could see Danielle in the background, mdancing with Minji and Hanni.
She looked so pretty, too pretty that you through your phone away in frustration.
But when you were about to go and pick it up, a rock flew into your window. âWhat theâŚâ you were startled but then you heard a familiar voice.
It was Danielleâs.
âYn!!!â She screamed out for you, her whole body trenched in the rain but she still looked jaw dropping.
âOh my god Danielle! What the hell are you doing here!?â
âJust come down!â
You rushed down the stairs, almost flying due to how fast you were going.
Opening the door, you faced Danielle who looked like she have been standing in the rain for far too long.
âAre you crazy!?â You were extremely worried at the sight of her shivering due to the coldness. You quickly pulled her into the house and led her to your bedroom without giving her a chance to talk.
Danielle giggled as you were running around your room trying to find something comfortable for her to wear. Soon after, she was wrapped with 4 blankets.
âExplain.â You looked at her seriously as you sat on the chair in front of Danielle.
âYn, Iâm really sorry for agreeing to go to prom with Jihyun. I swear it wasnât because I wanted to, but because everyone was screaming at me to agree and I really do regret it!â She rambled on without missing a beat.
âAnd I felt even worse when you ignored me. Prom is only without you with me. Iâm sorry for everything! And I miss you, I miss us!â
You couldnât help but stare at her lips as she rambled on about how sorry she was. âCan I kiss you?â
âWhat?â Danielle froze for a second, obviously not expecting to hear the words that are coming out of your mouth.
âI said, can I kiss you?â You cupped her face with your hands, looking at her intensively. Danielle was lost in your eyes as she muttered a quiet yes.
Her heart races as you softly pressed your lips onto hers, she wraps her arms around your shoulders.
Your lips moved in harmony, it was sweet and loving. Danielle found herself wanting more when you pulled away.
âIâm sorry for being so immature, and not letting you explain yourself.â You felt extremely bad after all your bitterness have been washed away by the kiss.
âYnâŚâ she smiled at you warmly. âGive me another kiss.â
In the end, the two of you laid on your bed, arms armed around each other tightly as you were both in deep slumber, not a care in the world.

Pairings: Pham Hanni x fem!reader
Synopsis: In which Pham Hanni found herself crushing on her memberâs younger sister.
Note: Y/n is the same age as Danielle.
Genre: Fluff âď¸
You were helping your older sister Minji, move her stuff into the dorm that she will be sharing with her members. âUh, unnie where do I put these?â You questioned as you were holding a box packed with snacks that your mother packed for Minji and her members.
âJust put it on top of the countertop in the kitchen, Iâll organize it later.â
You nodded and left your older sisterâs room, ears blasted with music from your headphones.
You hummed as you made your way to the kitchen, not noticing Hanni who came in a few seconds prior.
You were trying to get the snacks out of the cardboard box but couldnât because it was sealed shut. âHmm where are the scissorsâ you asked yourself before turning around with the intentions of asking your sister but to your surprise, Pham Hanni was standing near the door frame.
âOh sh-â you were startled after seeing her. âUh ,sorry for that! Hello, you must be Hanni unnie, Iâm Minji unnieâs younger sister!â
You greeted her but she didnât respond because Hanni Pham was mesmerized by you.
When she first saw you in the kitchen, she was wondering who the pretty girl in the kitchen was but after you greeted her, she couldnât help but think how your voice is as pretty as your visuals.
But while she was star struck, you were standing awkwardly while waving your hands in front of her. âHey?â
âOh sorry, yeah Iâm Hanni! Youâre Yn right?â She replied, her face shows that she was clearly embarrassed and turning red as well.
You giggled a bit at how red her face is before giving her a reply. âYep, thatâs me!â
The two of you stood still for a while before you asked her where the scissors are at. âHere you go.â She placed the scissor on top of your palm, getting a thank you from you in return.
You shifted your attention to the box of snacks before using the scissor to unpack it.
Hanni who watched you the entire time decided to step in. âYn, do you need help putting it away?â
âYeah, that would be nice, thanks unnie.â You smiled at her as you lift one of your favorite snack out of the box unintentionally, gasping after realizing that itâs a box of cookies and cream pepero. âOh my god I love these! I canât believe mom put these in for Minji unnie after banning me from eating them!â
Hanni looked at you in confusion. âWhy did your mom ban you from eating them?â
âMom said that I am too addicted to them, honestly so unreasonable, I only eat 3 packs a day! Donât you think so too?â You told her about the unfairness of the situation, you looked so serious about it that it made you look cute in her eyes.
She found herself subconsciously agreeing with whatever youâve been rambling about.
âRight? Totally so unfair! But I guess itâs fine because I do eat them behind her back!â
After you finished rambling, she began to laugh and you soon joined her.
Minji, who have been spending a lot of time on organizing her room, heard the loud laughers from the kitchen, so she decided to investigate.
She found you and Hanni laughing endlessly about who knows what. âWhat are you guys laughing about?â
You and Hanni turned away from each other to face Minji. You waved your hands around dismissively before replying. âNothing unnie, itâs nothing.â
She nodded at your answer though knowing that it wasnât true, but she also didnât want to ask further. Her eyes scanned the room before landing on the pepero that was in your hands.
âYnnie, youâre not allowed to eat them anymore, you know that!â She exclaimed before snatching the box from your hand.
âHey! Thatâs unfair, please can I at least have one piece?!â You begged like a child asking their mom for candy, Hanni found it adorable.
âNo way, youâll only want it more!â Minji refused before running back to her room, leaving you alone with Hanni again.
âUgh, sheâs so mean.â You sulked as you unpack all the other snacks onto the counter.
Watching you sulk, Hanni felt the need to make your frown go away. âIf you want them so bad, we can go to the convenience store, Iâll buy them for you!â
âReally?!â You no longer have a frown on your face as it have been replaced by a large smile.
âYes!â Seeing you so happy made Hanni feel complete.
âOkay, what are we waiting for? Letâs go!â You tugged the sleeve of her hoodie before locking arms with the older girl.
Hanni knew she was down bad when she found herself approving of everything snack you put in the cart.
When you finished putting every snacks you wanted, Hanni brought them to the check out, it came up to 85$. Hanni was crying on the inside but seeing your million dollar smile definitely made her moneys worth.
The two of you made your way back to the dorm, you were eating your ice cream while Hanni was occupied with holding the bag of snacks that she bought you.
You offered to hold it at first but Hanni insisted that since she was older, sheâs the one who should hold it.
Minji jaw dropped when she saw the snacks in the bags.
That day, both you and Hanni got scolded by Minji. You for spending all of Hanniâs money, and Hanni for buying the snacks that you werenât supposed to be eating.
Hanni got scolded more though but she didnât care because in the end, it was worth it knowing that your happiness came from her.

Hold me, never let go
Pairings: Kang Haerin x fem!reader
Synopsis: Haerin loved you a lot and you love her just as much.
Genre: idkâŚ
They say friends turn to loversâŚ
[2 years before NewJeansâŚ]
Haerin was practicing with four others girls before she saw a girl come in with Min Heejin from the reflection of the practice roomâs mirror.
âPrettyâŚâ she muttered subconsciously, awing at the sight of you. Danielle who was right next to her gave a teasing look but the younger girl didnât notice as her eyes were stuck on your pretty face.
Never in Kang Haerinâs 15 years of living have she seen someone so gorgeous.
âGirls, this is Y/n sheâll be training with you guys, sheâs really shy so make sure to make her feel welcomed!â
She could see that you were nervous from the fact that you were fiddling with the ends of your hoodie.
Although sheâs someone who rarely approach people first, she found herself subconsciously making her way towards you, shocking the other girls.
âHi, Iâm Kang Haerin!â She greeted you with so much enthusiasm that even she was surprised with herself.
You lift your eyes from the ground, facing a pretty girl with pretty cat like eyes. âOh hello! Iâm Yn but you already know that, I thinkâŚâ You greeted back awkwardly, scratching the back of your neck.
To say that you were shy was an understatement, you couldnât even look at anyone in the eyes.
But Haerin found herself finding your awkwardness cute. From that day on, she made a promise to herself that sheâll get you to open up, which is kinda ironic because the other girls (mostly Minji) used to complain about that same problem with her.
As weeks had passed, she found out you liked a lot of things; video games, mint chocolate ice cream, and perfume that smells like peach.
Haerin would spray herself with that specific scent everyday before practice just to get a compliment from you.
She found herself doing things that she never had interest in just to spend more time with you. Specifically video games, she was really bad at them which was why she stopped playing them until she met you.
Because the only way to get you to talk a lot is if the conversations is about video games, you could rant on and on for hours and Haerin would still listen attentively, noting your favorite ones.
Even if she was terrible at them, she would still play games with you every day after the two of you finished practicing.
You would always insist on doing something she likes for a change, seeing how she doesnât enjoy them as much as you do, but she would always refuse saying that as long as youâre enjoying it then sheâs enjoying it too.
When I say it with my chest, I think I love her. But not as a friendâŚ
You found it heart fluttering how she would always try for you. No one else have ever put so much effort just to make you happy.
âRin, do you want to go to the cat cafe down the road? I heard the cats and kittens there are adorable!â
Another thing that made her fall for you even more is your love for cats. She found that out one day during your lunch break when you kept mumbling to no one about how much you missed your cats.
âYeah, whatever you want Ynnie!â
Your hands intertwined with hers as you guys head to the cat cafe. âAw theyâre so adorable!â You squealed and ran to one of the cats, pulling Haerin with you.
âAwe, this little guy looks like you Rin!â You exclaimed as you were holding a ginger cat. Haerin gasped feeling a little offended. âNo it doesnât!â
âHe does! Look at his eyes, theyâre as pretty as yours.â You made the girl in front of you reddened up without noticing since you were distracted by the cat.
âYou think my eyes are pretty?â Haerin smiled shyly, her eyes looking straight at yours. You gave a an adoring smile back. âI think everything about you is pretty.â
If you hold me I wonât let go, Iâm not sure Iâve said so.
That was enough to make a freeze, her blushing become more evident causing you to giggle. âYouâre adorable Kang Haerinâ you poked her cheek before getting distracted by the cat again.
That was it, you broke Kang Haerin.
A year had passed since you first met and since Haerin started falling for you.
After weeks of debating with herself on whether she should confess, Haerin had finally built up the courage to do so.
Kang Haerin felt like the happiest girl when you said yes to her confession and kissed her on the cheek.
But itâs true, Iâm in love with you.
Soon, you two began to kiss behind close doors, with your relationship not being out yet. Both of you were scared that if anyone found out then they would break the two of you up.
You loved her a lot and she loved you just as much.
The rest of the girls whoâve seen how the two of you acted around each other, suspected that thereâs something going on, but not wanting to point out something that might not exist, they let it go. Though they teased the two of you a lot.
The relationship you guys had was beautiful, you both loved and respected each other so much, and youâve never fought nor disagreed on anything.
All until one day.
You guys have been walking around eggshells lately.
Your vocal teacher have been reprimanding you and the girls to not get into relationships, saying that it might ruin everything for the whole group. She would always look between you and Haerin while doing so too.
âRin, I feel like theyâre on to us.â You had pulled Haerin into your room.
âI feel it too, but itâs fine as long as they donât find out right?â Haerin placed her hands on yours, she was as concerned as you were.
âI donât know Rin, maybe we should distance ourselves from each otherâŚtake a break maybe until weâre off their radar.â
âWhy would you want to do that?!â Haerin felt shocked as tears fell down her cheeks without realizing.
âI donât! But wouldnât it be better for us to take a break rather than being broken up?â Your heart aches at the sight of your girlfriend crying, your hand reaching her cheeks and softly wiping her tears away.
âItâs just that weâre debuting in a few weeks and I donât want to risk us not debuting togetherâŚIâm hurting too, but itâs for the best.â
âIf thatâs what you want, then letâs take a breakâŚâ
Feels like Iâve been hiding, havenât tried to fight it.
Nothing felt the same after the conversation you too had.
Everyone noticed that you and Haerin wouldnât look at each other in the eyes and it was concerning.
Fast forward to present time, you and Haerin stayed friends. Friends who loves each other way too much to still be friends, but are too afraid to do anything about it.
Is this how the story ends?
