Why is it that kinda creepy dudes almost universally seem to prefer the word “females” over saying “women?” Are they trying to sound academic or something? It’s like they’re talking about an animal species. “Let me describe my observations of THE FEMALES”

#controversial opinion but i feel that cremation should honestly be more accepted in christianity. you know “memento, homo, quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris” and all that jazz. i think it would be more poetic in a sense.

I hate that it’s become common to minimize the word “trigger”.
When I get triggered, I have an anxiety attack and detach from reality, sometimes so completely that twenty minutes go by and I legitimately don’t know what happened in those twenty minutes. It’s not just me getting annoyed, or disliking something. I’m legitimately triggered into a state of being where my brain disconnects from reality to try and protect me due to past trauma.
Being triggered is a real thing for many people, and we shouldn’t minimize that.

Me: “I feel pretty good rn.”
BPD: “You’ve always felt this way, and will carry on feeling it forever.”
Me: “Makes sense! I can totally do that, what was I ever whining about before?”
Also me, a few hours later, crying on the floor: “Nobody ever loved me, I’m gonna die alone, and I’ll never get better. I should just give up and die now.”

I’m having a hard time remembering this tonight, so incase you need reminding too:
You are more than the things they said to you/about you
You are more than the things they did to you
You didn’t deserve it
You won’t ever forget it, but one day you will be able to live with it.

Many of us will experience some kind of trauma during our lifetime. Sometimes, we escape with no long-term effects. But for millions of people, those experiences linger, causing symptoms like flashbacks, nightmares, and negative thoughts that interfere with everyday life.
This phenomenon, called post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, isn’t a personal failing; rather, it’s a treatable malfunction of certain biological mechanisms that allow us to cope with dangerous experiences.
PTSD has been called “the hidden wound” because it comes without outward physical signs. But even if it’s an invisible disorder, it doesn’t have to be a silent one.
To learn about the science of PTSD, watch the TED-Ed Lesson The psychology of post-traumatic stress disorder - Joelle Maletis

"Why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends?"
Because I have the emotional stability of a three-legged giraffe on ice skates and the rage of a child given pencils on Halloween.

Do you know what I hate most about abuse? It makes you “crazy”. It makes you angry and tearful and volatile. And that in and of itself leads people to dismiss your story when you say you have been abused. They use your unstable emotions as an excuse not to believe you or to say that it’s at least partially your fault. It seems like almost nobody but other survivors stop to wonder how you got that way to begin with
