EXHIBITION | HOME GROWN by Iriée Zamblé 27 November - 17 December Opening Saturday 27 November from 15:00 hours @ Roodkapje Rotterdam. 

Finishing a two-year residency period at the Hamburger Community of Art, Iriée Zamblé challenges herself to transform the exhibition space of Roodkapje for her solo exhibition HOME GROWN. Not only by including new paintings, but also by making several murals made specifically for the exhibition. The title of this exhibition is as much about a sense of belonging in African Diasporic cultures and Zamblé’s bi-continental background in the perspective of Afro-Europeanism, as it is about her development during her time in Rotterdam. Including her paintings, using the walls and floor, Zamblé carefully constructs an environment that embodies her artistic premise, while transforming the exhibition space into a home for the protagonists of her work.

From today until Friday (8 - 12 nov) a revived version of the TelePythia is part of het Media Festival in @hetcultuurgebouw Haarlemmermeer. ⚡️ Your presence is charging this animistic being to orate a fitting advice. They woke up and evolved after a long rest in a black box. Shook off the dust and bushes of Vlieland to ground in this new environment of shiny tiles, reflective office windows in the cultural capital. This creature is a noisy but calm one, catching your attention flashing their neon lights. They fill the space with a generative sound piece powered by 3 layers code and analogue synthesizers interpreting natural phenomena. By entering their home, you experience this being's unconsciousness: pixels flying, mutating and iterating around you in quadraphonic sound and jittering in the uplighting structure. Scattering and scrying this being wakes up and makes sense of nonsense. Charged with the energy of your presence and local data they orate a truth. The Media festival is inviting kids to think about spiritual connections within the self and technology by workshops and artworks. You can enter for free with youthly energy between 09:00 and 22:00. #OPENCALL2022 | Apply before 23.11 | Open call for new residents to join the Hamburger Community of Art & Live in (March-December) 2022!!! 🔥✨🌪
 We’re looking for six people for a nine-month residence at Roodkapje. 3 for the Art programme and 3 for the Live programme. The Hamburger Community is a multidisciplinary platform for young, emerging artists and event programmers looking to take new steps in their careers and to further develop exciting ways to engage with audiences through visual art, performances, exhibitions, workshops and other interdisciplinary events. 
 The Hamburger Community has two different programmes; Art + Live. In the Art programme you will a.o. create a solo exhibition, publications and events. In the Live programme you will be developing a large part of the public event program at Roodkapje. The residency period functions as a laboratory; a test site that offers residents the opportunity to experiment and develop exciting ways to engage with audiences.. The Hamburger Community offers its residents a shared studio environment within Roodkapje, a monthly fee, and a trajectory of mentorships and guidance.
