Guide to Crystal Grids
Crystal Grids are an incredibly powerful and beautiful way to manifest your intentions. They are also powerful healing tools. The power of a crystal grid comes from the combined energies of the crystals you use, how you lay them out, and the intentions you set. Basically, a crystal grid is a special arrangement of crystals and stones, used with intention, to manifest a desired result. Keep in mind that the universe likes to provide us with what we need, not just what we want. If you would like it to come to fruition, it is best to focus on manifesting a need vs a want.
Crystal Grids can be used in a variety of ways: in healing, manifesting, ritual work, meditation, intention setting practices or simply as a creative endeavor.
When it comes to crystal grids, there may be many different guides on how best to do them, but I find the most powerful healing and manifesting comes when you go with your intuition. Some people create crystal grids on a cloth, board, or piece of paper with Sacred Geometry on them, as they believe this increases the power of the grid. Others like to include pieces of nature, like leaves, shells, or flowers in their grid. Don't let a lack of crystals stop you!
Many people pick crystals based on the properties that are aligned with what they would like to manifest. Others will intuitively choose what crystals to work with. If you don't have a lot to choose from, don't worry. You can still work with what you've got, it is the setting of your own intentions that is most powerful.
The possibilities are endless, and it is really important to trust in your own intuition when creating your crystal grid.
Activating your Crystal Grid
To activate a grid once it has been laid, use a crystal wand or the power of your mind to join up all the points, including the keystone. If the grid does not have connecting lines to each crystal, take the wand (or your mind) into the central point and out again, touching each crystal in turn and weaving the energy into being. Finally, place the wand on the keystone and restate your intention.
Keeping your Crystal Grid active
Some grids, like protective or transmuting, need daily checking, while outdoor grids or those set to attract abundance can happily be left alone for a week. To keep your grid active, restate your intention, cleanse the crystals if necessary, and remove or add further crystals if appropriate. But don't interfere with your grid too frequently, or you won't really give it a chance to work.
Maintain your Crystal Grid
Don't forget to cleanse your crystals frequently to remove stagnant or unwanted energies. The easiest and safest methods include:
Smudging with incense, sage, or Palo Santo
The use of Singing Bowls
You can use running water, moon, or sun - but you need to be careful with these methods as they are not suitable for all crystals.

Palo Santo – Sustainability and Disambiguation
Tumblr media
For the past couple of years, Katie and I have used Palo Santo in our practice and invested more for it to be ethically sourced. We know some of you don't use Palo Santo at all because you heard it is endangered. Hopefully this article will shed some light on what Palo Santo is, help with some disambiguation, and give you the opportunity to make a more informed decision when purchasing Palo Santo in the future.
What is Palo Santo?
Palo Santo, a.k.a. Bursera graveolens, is a wild tree native to the countries of Ecuador & Peru. It is most often encountered in the form of its heartwood or essential oil. The wood is commonly burned in nature similar to incense by allowing the smoke to cleanse an area. Its essence is believed to energetically clear a space of any lingering stagnant energy. Diffusion of the essential oil may be used for those sensitive to smoke. The essential oil can also be externally applied to the body via dilution with carrier oils to activate its pleasantly therapeutic qualities and increase one's relaxation. This heavenly aromatic wood has been used for generations, and we work passionately to protect its place within contemporary conscious culture.
Not to be confused with…
“Palo Santo” is a common name that is used for several different & distinctly unrelated botanical species. Another species, known as Bulnesia sarmientoi is also referred to as "Palo Santo" in its native countries of Argentina & Paraguay.
Bulnesia sarmientoi was listed as endangered in the 2018 publication of the IUCN Red List, due to the deforestation of Gran Chaco and a strong global demand since 2001. IUCN estimates indicate that over three generations the global population will decline by around 50%.
Bulnesia sarmientoi is still listed as an endangered species.
Localization
They are two distinctly separate species, native to geographically different regions of South America & utilized for different applications. Bursera graveolens used in aromatherapy and various spiritual practices is a tree that originates in the dry forests of Ecuador & Perú, while Bulnesia sarmientoi originates from Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia.
Tumblr media
We offer sustainably sourced Palo Santo as a single stick, as well as bundles of 2 and 6 sticks, and as 1/4lb bag, which contains approx. 20-25 smudge sticks.

The Meaning of the Mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum
Tumblr media
Mantras are short phrases, usually in the Sanskrit language, that are used by Buddhists, especially in the Tibetan Mahayana tradition, to focus the mind with spiritual meaning.
Om Mani Padme Hum is the six-syllabled Sanskrit Mantra considered as the condensed form of all Buddhist teachings. Many people recite the mantra thousands of times in a day as part of their daily prayer practice. In English, this rhythmic chant translates to “Praise to the Jewel in the Lotus.”
"the six syllables, om mani padme hum, mean that in dependence on the practice of a path which is an indivisible union of method and wisdom, you can transform your impure body, speech, and mind into the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha". H.H. Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama.
To better understand the intention behind any mantra practice, we must know what the mantra means. In the Tibetan culture, to deeply know this mantra and to bring it into the very depths of someone’s being, is to attain enlightenment.
Let’s Break Down Om Mani Padme Hum
Below is the common understanding of the mantra, agreed upon by the majority of Buddhist practitioners:
Tumblr media
Om, is not a word but an evocation of spiritual power and the presence of the absolute. Buddhists believe that the sound vibration of Om cleanses away pride. Om helps us dissolve our ego and cultivate kindness and generosity whenever we recite it. Its color is White. Om sets the intention for our practice.
Tumblr media
Ma represents ethics and purifies jealousy. Reciting Ma can help loosen our jealous attachments while cultivating more ethical behavior. It is commonly represented in Green.
Tumblr media
Ni is believed to dissolve our attachments to desire and passion while representing patience, with ourselves and others. It is commonly represented in Yellow.
The entire word, mani, means "jewel". Mani helps us get in the right heart space for the practice, in the same way Om guides us to the right headspace.
Tumblr media
Pad purifies ignorance and judgment, while cultivating the quality of perseverance. Pad is typically associated with the color Blue.
Tumblr media
Me helps dissolve our attachments to being possessive, while improving our concentration. It is commonly associated with the color Red.
Together, Padme means "lotus," and represents wisdom. Padme reminds us to not be attached to the every-day quarrels.
Tumblr media
Hum represents the spirit of enlightenment, wisdom, and purifies hatred. Hum is associated with the color Black.
The Jewel is in the Lotus
Om Mani Padme Hum is a powerful mantra with a lot of meaning. It is often translated by “The jewel is in the lotus,” or “Praise to the jewel in the lotus”. This is to say that within all of us, the lotus, is a jewel. It often is covered up and needs to be spruced up.
Reciting this mantra, with the right intention, is believed to heal and purify until we are as sparkling, pure, compassionate, and wise as the lotus flower itself.
According to a lecture given by the Dalai Lama, while it’s a good idea to recite this mantra, one must simultaneously meditate upon the meaning of each syllable. In other words, we have to practice with the appropriate intention and understanding of the mantra.
Remember, Intention is everything.

Essential Oils & Meditation
What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing volatile (easily evaporated at normal temperatures) chemical compounds from plants. Their name comes as they capture the plant’s scent and flavor, or “essence.”.
Essential oils are generally extracted through distillation (via steam and/or water) or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing. Each one has a unique aromatic compound, giving its characteristic essence and its properties.
You might have experienced a familiar smell which triggered memories or emotions. This phenomenon is explained by studying our limbic system, which plays a role in emotions, behaviors, sense of smell, and long-term memory. According to Dawn Goldworm, co-founder of 12.29, smell and emotion are stored as one memory, forever, in our olfactory memory (the largest and most acute part of our memory). The limbic system is responsible for emotion. While you can’t tell me why you like [a scent], you can tell me how it makes you feel. (See her Ted Talk video below.)
Breathing in Essential Oils stimulates parts of our limbic system, exerting physical effects on our body. “Smell is the most natural and the most powerful way to make us feel good” (Dawn Goldworm).

What is meditation?
Meditation is a personal practice that varies and even evolves from one individual to another. However, we can all agree that Meditation usually involves the calming and quieting the mind. The practitioner typically focuses on a goal, whether it is to heightening awareness, deepening one’s focus, or simply being still and calming the mind and body. Or, it can even be as simple as focusing your attention on an idea or thought.
Tumblr media
How to combine them and what are the benefits?
The use of Essential Oils during meditation can heighten our experience based on the properties of the oils we use. Cedarwood and Patchouli essential oils are considered grounding. Lavender is considered a relaxing oil, and Ylang Ylang uplifting. Frankincense is known to enhance enlightenment and a spiritual connection.
Creating your own blend:
Combine the following essential oils in a clean glass bottle to create your desired blend and diffuse per the manufacturer instructions for your diffuser.

Patchouli (1 part)
Frankincense (1 part)
Cedarwood (1 part)
