Submission Guidelines

COUNTDOWN PERIOD

8th August 2020 - 27th August 2020 (19 days + release day)

TIMEZONE

We are using the Eastern Time Zone (GMT-4). All artwork deadlines we specify follow this timezone, e.g. when we say “Deadline for ___ is 1st August”, we mean 1st August at 11:59pm, Eastern Time.

HOW IT WORKS

Sign up via this Google form before the deadline (5th July).

After the application period ends, you will be assigned a date (referred to as “Day ##”, where ## indicates the number of days before the release date, e.g. Day 20 = 20 days before release).

Accept or reject the date assigned to you.

Submit your countdown piece. The submission deadline for your piece is 3 days before your assigned date. (i.e. if you’re assigned a later date, you have more time to work on your piece)

Countdown pieces are placed on queue and posted on crystalchroniclescountdown.tumblr and @ffcc_countdown on Twitter.

SCHEDULE

The following schedule is tentative and will be revised by the mods as required.

Applications:     June 2 - June 29 July 31, 2020

Work period:     July 5 - August 7, 2020

Submission period:      Deadline varies between artists

Twenty day countdown:     August 8, 2020 - August 27, 2020

ARTWORK GUIDELINES

We do not have requirements on the skill level, but please adhere to the following:

Submitted artwork must be complete (no WIPs). Please put a considerable amount of effort into your piece(s) as it will otherwise be unfair to the other participating artists who work hard on their submissions.

Artwork must be SFW and contain only characters featured in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

Mild gore or violence is accepted but please keep it to the minimal!

You’re free to come up with costumes or settings for the characters on your own but keep the characters recognizable.

If the artwork is traditional, ensure that it’s properly scanned or that a clear photo of it is submitted.

Indicate on your artwork the countdown day that the artwork is for, e.g. (“Day 7”, “1 week left”, etc.)

Please do not post your piece anywhere before your assigned countdown date. You may post your finished piece separately after it’s been published on this countdown blog and on Twitter. If you post it separately, please tag @ffcc_countdown so that we can reblog / retweet it!

If you are unsure of what to draw or how your countdown piece should look like, you can refer to past countdown projects such as oras-count, spl2n-count and ssbucountdown.

ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS

.JPG, .PNG or .GIF

Any size you like. However, portrait is the preferred orientation as the artwork will be posted on Tumblr and Twitter.

You may refer to this post for the preferred image size for Tumblr.

SUBMITTING YOUR WORK

Email title - Day 20 submission: FanartistName

Artwork file name - Day 20_FanartistName

Nope! Choose whichever character you’d like to draw, and as many characters you’d like to draw, as long as they’re from the world of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles! We do ask you only make 1 picture for each day you’ve been assigned, however. ◈ Can multiple people draw the same character? Yep! That’s totally fine. It’s all about creating art for the game, we wouldn’t want people to miss out drawing their player characters or NPC favorites! ◈ Can we include monsters? Absolutely! They’re in FF:CC, they deserve the option for representation of the project. We do ask you to keep the focus on playable/recognizable characters, however, rather than monster-only pieces. ◈ Is there a first come/first serve basis? Not for applications or characters! We’re hoping to accept everyone of any skill level! We may have to deny requests to take a date if too many artists are assigned to it, but we’ll just give you another date with no stress. Our aim is to distribute art evenly throughout the countdown period! ◈ When will we find out our day number? After applications end and have been sorted, which is the 5th of July. ◈ What are the permissions regarding live streaming work in progress art related to this project? That’s perfectly fine, go ahead! We only ask that you do not post the finished piece until the countdown day. ◈ Can we submit old artwork for the countdown? No, to be fair to the other participating artists, please only submit new artwork made specifically for this event. The same applies to the submission for the collaboration project.
