The freshman jolted slightly when he was suddenly bombarded with a tight hug and a kiss on his cheek. It was a bit too much for his taste, but…it was sweet. It reminded him of Alanna. It was that thought that brought a small smile to his lips as he looked at Rielle—smiling at the thought of his sister, not actually the merman in front of him—before he chuckled as Rielle grabbed his hands.

“Thank you,” Kristian replied through his soft laughter. “I’m not used to doing much for my birthday, I have to admit. Alanna would always try to pull something together, but no one else really cared.” This attention was really nice… He had always wanted to spend his birthday with people actually giving him attention for once. He wondered what it would be like to be at the center of a celebration about him. That just didn't exist in his family.

"I can't wait~" Kristian said as he gave Rielle's hands a gentle squeeze. And for once, his smile wasn't completely fake.

…Oh. So he wanted to upset the housewardens. Kira couldn’t help but be surprised by his response, not that he would be able to see such a reaction with most of her face concealed by a shadow underneath a hood. This man definitely wasn’t like any of the other students. They actually respected their housewardens, while this person…wanted to make their lives harder. Well, at least Malleus wasn’t here, so this wouldn’t affect her own housewarden.

Kira didn’t really care either way. The sound of a liquid being poured into the pot acted as an incentive for Kira to leave this place as soon as possible. The last thing she wanted to deal with was hyper students at this crazy school…

“May I ask what dorm you’re in?” the girl inquired, seeming to disregard what he was doing. She couldn’t see a mage pen on him, nor could she see his face from beneath her hood to recognize who he was… Didn’t he realize that people from every dorm were here..?? If he caffeinated a bunch of students from his dorm, he wouldn't get any sleep tonight.

There was a long pause, one might think that it was the Prefect contemplating his decision after knowing that the Headmage really didn't.. well.. care about anything that happened. And she was right, he was absurdly absent if someone wasn't stroking his ego. But, instead, he only seemed to smirk.

Punishing the dorm leaders? The people who gave him countless headaches over this whole school year by going absolutely crazy, putting their lives and other lives in danger? The ones, except Jamil, who had gone full ego-mode and Overblotted?

If anything, Alacai's silence made an even more chaotic grin formed.

"Perfect! Even better!"

The hiss and click of the sound of the can opening and the tell tale sound of pouring, fizzy liquid into the pot. That had not been a silence of consideration.. but a silence of plotting.

"Especially if Azul gets a headache from this." That bit held a particularly high amount of vitriol in the Prefects tone.

Xiao scowled as he stared out the window, hearing the heavy rainfall hitting the glass. Demons didn't care if it was raining. They would still try to taint the lands despite the ongoing storm. However... Xiao knew he couldn't go out like this. It was raining heavily at Wangshu Inn right now, true, but he could sense a worse storm nearing them. Even he wouldn't be able to fight in that...which was a fact he only accepted after Venti forced him to.

"...We will need to take shelter," Xiao said before turning away from the window to face the bard sitting on his bed. This room--along with pretty much any other room at the inn--was at risk in a storm like the coming one. They needed to get closer to the ground, somewhere without any windows. Xiao crossed the room and took Venti's hand. "Come on. I'll take you someplace safer."

Seeing the way he raised his hands like that, bearing no weapon, Kira slowly lowered hers. She sheathed her swords on her back, but her defensive stance and look didn’t go away. She was used to going out into the Fragmentum completely alone. She seldom ever ran into anyone else while out here. After all, not many people were stupid enough to willingly go into Fragmentum-infested areas…which said a lot about her, she supposed.

Regardless, she rarely saw people out here, and it was even more rare to have someone assist her. Unless you’re in Wildfire, it’s kill or be killed out here. Especially in the Fragmentum…Kira had some loot on her, so a smart person would take her out to steal her findings. But this man seemed to have no interest in her supplies. He seemed to genuinely just want to help…it made Kira even more suspicious.

Until he mentioned being with those travelers. “…Oh.” That group made themselves out to be a bunch of heroes, so of course they would go out of their way to save someone. Kira didn’t get it, but whatever. At least she didn’t seem so defensive anymore, but now she just looked…annoyed. “What’re doing out here in the Fragmentum?” She knew he could easily ask her the same thing, but she asked first.

It wasn't as though he'd been expecting some type of reward, but a thank you for saving her miserable life would have been rather welcomed, Seiko watching the way in which she still remained on the defensive, head tilting slightly to one side. Wait, was she thinking that he was about to attack her now? Was everyone in this wasteland so stupid? Ah, but he'd just get a lecture if he said such a thought out loud - something about thinking on the image of the express...like he honestly cared.

"I'm not going to hurt you", he sighed, holding his hands up to show he carried no weapons, not that it mattered but she wasn't to know that, "Don't you think if I wished you harm, I'd have aimed a little better? You looked like you needed some help, so I helped...that's it. I'm with those other travellers that you may have seen around...". If that was even enough to gain her trust.
