AITA for taxidermizing my moirail's lusus? Quirk masking. Okay I admit saying it like that sounds awful, but I (Purple) used to have a moirail (Teal) with a very loyal lusus. We weren't morails for very long before the accident happened, but we all pitied each other very much or whatever. We admired each other's work. Bond was strong. T was also carpenterror in addition to standard work and helped construct hives, and had made the one we lived in together. One night, T had perished in hive stem collapse and his lusus stayed there the whole wipe, poor thing. After clearing out my anguish bladder in mourning, I managed to get back on my strut pods and returned to my miserable little life. Now, his lusus had been notoriously picky and refused to even return to the caverns to pick up a new wriggler. I, um, "preserved" T and kept the body in my hive to try to bring his lusus inside and keep it out of the weather. It stayed but was notably losing weight as it refused to eat. I tried contacting a lusus mediculler, but nothing seemed to work. Eventually I decided to put the poor thing out of its misery and taxidermized it as well. I keep them as a set in my closet, and generally try not to show guests. However, I did tell other hatefriends in our group about what happened and what I did to T and his lusus so they'd stop worrying about the beast, but I was met with utter disgust by some of them.
