Struggles
Me is a poor student who cannot afford more than thousands of the tuition fee for the master degree in America(or anywhere else). Well, not sure about if i would eligible for it, but the financial problem hold it back beforehand. So I decide to be a self-taught learner using this enormous information library, the internet. There are many great sites that help you to learn free, like Edx. I am taking UX courses and basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript courses.
My goal is becoming an UX designer who can also do front end developing, and ultimately living as a digital nomad if I can.
However, the struggle is real. I mean, I’m studying business now in Korea and I want to make my career oversea in UX designing field. Here comes dilema.
1. Which language should I use.
- English makes sense as I would like to start career abroad but community where I belong is Korea which basically share most of the sources in Korean. So I will face some difficulties in creating portfolios or works. I feel confused.
2. Where to get connections?
-This is a real thing. Even though I can study by myself, I need a mentor who can gives me advice. In this point, my connections in business school usually are not well-known about UX design field. Quite limited environment to study. This brings me to think if i should go to master degree for good connections as well as high quality of study sources. (If I go master in any other countries that teach it in English will solve #1 even actually.) I tried to search some meetups active in Korea and I found none. But good courses are. (in master and private institutions that care from A-Z)
3. Who can teach me well?
- Well, some professional companies like ‘pxd’ (In Korea) uploaded many good advice and sources about UX/UI including great tips how to become a UX designer and etc. It says it is not necessary to have master degree for becoming an UX designer. (I believe so, but the thing is I want to get a job after becoming an UX designer lol..will it work?) But I still wonder how to prove my self I am a okay learner after taking all Edx courses. Who can give me notes on my portfolios?
4. Am I doing right?
- I realized I am really good at mind-maping, relating everything and brunch them out so that I can imagine how it will be awes if I could reach the goal. But, usually too many things to do and I may don’t know how to operate those things efficiently.
ps. If anyone who reads this lonely shout-out, feel free to comment advice if you have please. From silly business student.
