so apparently, mojang removed the help button from the stonecutter screen, but they didn't actually replace the toolbar with a regular close button, so the close button is just... the only thing on the toolbar, which isn't how toolbars are supposed to work. there's definitely enough space to have a regular close button.
also it completely breaks if you use a controller that's great thank you mojang

okey, i've just looked through the changelog for java edition 1.20.5 and couldn't find anything that would affect any of my resource packs, so these new minor versions should be coming out the day after 1.20.6.
i'm pretty sure i've finished updating all my java edition packs to 1.20.5 (i haven't noticed any immediate issues in my brief testing), but i'm gonna hold off on posting them until sliced lime's resource pack changes video comes out, just in case there's anything i've missed.
there won't be any major changes in any of these packs, so i'm pretty sure you can continue using the 1.20.4 versions for now, but Menu Buttons of Stone and Thickly Be-Beveled Buttons will be getting a very slight tweak that you probably won't even notice anyway. as well as more intuitive game version compatibility.

[ID 1 (original post, copied from alt text): Text in the Minecraft logo font that reads "I don't know how redstone works and at this point I'm too afraid to ask".
ID 2 (op's reblog, first image): tumblr tags that read "#minecraft #how do you may these lmao?!!?
ID 3 (op's reblog, second image): a similar minecraft title logo to the first, but it now has the stripes of the aroace flag on it and has a simple lighting effect coming from the top-left. it reads "blockbench.net".
ID 4 (spiffybits' reblog): the first title logo again, but it now reads "So I Went to Visit My Friend / Bro Visited His Friend".
ID 5 (leafae's reblog): the same, but it now reads "Friend Pilled / Visit Maxxer".
ID 6 (wjbminecraft's reblog): the same but it reads "The / Frienderrr". end ID]

ID 6 (current reblog): another minecraft title logo, now in the style of the HD logo used from release to 1.17. it reads "It Even Has the Superior Previous Title Logo Style Fuck Yeah". the image is comically wide, causing it to be comically zoomed out. it is difficult to even tell the logo is in a slightly different style. end ID]

how does water work?
water, in minecraft, is really quite simple, but a lot of people still don't quite understand how it works, so here are a few basic facts on the mechanics of water:
firstly, there are two types of water: flowing water and "source blocks". (flowing water is the official, internal name for the block, while 'source block' is a common community term.) as the names would imply, flowing water comes out of the source blocks. source blocks are the kind that naturally generate and are placed from buckets.
not counting the source block, water can flow seven blocks horizontally in all directions.
Tumblr media
i'm using invisible blocks to keep the water in place to better show off the mechanic, but rest assured, that air block really is air.
downward flowing water, as far as the length water can flow is concerned, is basically a source block. if water flows down at all, it will be able to flow horizontally another seven blocks.
Tumblr media
the area i built for this doesn't even have enough space to show this off lol.
a block can only be waterlogged with a water source. if you place a block in flowing water, it will simply block the water.
Tumblr media
levers are an exception to this on bedrock edition for some reason.
normally, water will only flow horizontally on the ground, but if a source block is placed in the air, it will flow 1 block horizontally before it starts only flowing downward.
Tumblr media
this is, of course, assuming the water isn't blocked.
Tumblr media
certain blocks, like kelp, can be placed in downward flowing water and turn that into a source block. notice how the water starts flowing 1 block horizontally where the kelp starts. that's because of the kelp turning the downward flowing water into source blocks.
Tumblr media
source blocks can also be created if two full strength (that is, level 7, the water flowing directly from the source and not from other flowing water) flowing water blocks meet. here's a very common infinite water setup:
Tumblr media
these are both sources. if i let them flow into each other:
Tumblr media
now all four of these blocks are sources. because of this "level 7 rule", water can be taken infinitely from this square so long as it isn't taken quicker than the water can flow.
water will only disappear if it is cut off from its source block. for example, if water is made to flow horizontally on the floor, and then the floor underneath it is removed, it will keep flowing the length it was flowing before, as well as also flowing down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a water source that is actively flowing into flowing water will also appear to be flowing, even pushing any creatures that happen to get caught in it, but it is still a source block.
Tumblr media
source blocks that don't flow into anything appear still (at least, on its top. the sides will always appear flowing).
Tumblr media
only source blocks can be picked up with a bucket.
