Influencer or content creator? Who should you work with and why? While most influencers do create content on a regular basis, their focus tend to be more on themselves. Hence, you'll see more selfies, day-in-the-lives, as well as personal musings. Content creators, on the other hand, are those who tend to create content focused on a certain theme. This depends on their areas of expertise, be it cooking, yoga, cat-grooming, or social media marketing. Who should you hire? Influencer or content creator? Well, it really depends on the nature of your trade, your own brand influence, as well as who your audiences trust. If your brand already has considerable traction online, working with a content creator may be useful. If, on the other hand, your brand is just starting out, then influencers could help you to get the word out. What are your thoughts on this? Social media marketing is a lot like a marathon. You’ve got to keep getting at it, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. It took me 9 long years of blogging, facebooking, Linkedining, tweeting, and instagramming before I quit my job to do this full-time. While I’m aware of some #marketinghacks that people use, I feel that the best forms of marketing are long-term and sustainable. Just like training to be fit! PS - I can do 26 pull ups, 110 push ups, 70 over sit ups, and lots of curls, presses and dips. Use the Two-Minute Rule from James Clear and begin with mini steps! “When you start a new habit, it should take less than two minutes to do.” Thus... "Lose 10 kg in a month" becomes "Wear my running shoes." "Write articles on LinkedIn" becomes "Write two sentences a day." "Read a book every month" becomes "Read a page every night." "Engage with my followers" becomes "Comment on 3 posts every day." "Reach new prospects" becomes "Call one new person each day." Make your habits as easy to start as possible. While the following actions may be difficult, your first two minutes should be easy. Once you start on this “gateway habit,” you'll find it easier to take the subsequent steps. As a trainer, I'll use the example of creating a new course. 🥵 Launching a 2-day workshop is very hard. 😖 Developing curriculum for a 2-hour module is hard. 😅 Creating 20 Powerpoint slides is moderately difficult. 😉 Drafting 10 bullet points is easy. 😁 Starting a new Google Doc? Very easy. Your goal is to develop a new course, but your gateway habit is to start a new Google Doc. That’s how you follow the Two-Minute Rule.
