Bill did promote BKW and we didn't notice it?

I know I've been very critical of Bill lately because of the last marketing fiasco of the Boy Kills world promotion. But one anon brought to my attention something that made me think in some coincidentical events of last year that now make sense. Have time? This is looooong

2023

- July 22 : Bill is spotted attending a UFC match in London.

- July 23: the BKW trailer comes to light, the famous " Cannes trailer". Someone found it and shared it with the world. Don't ask me who I just remember it was everywhere suddenly I even made a post about it too. Now (2024) is no longer up on that page. In that trailer the boy inner voice was different from the one we have now.

- The bobbysill IG acc caught our attention again after days of speculation if it was Bill's or not . Bob uploaded this :

-July 24: this same acc had a mental breakdance after someone went to the BKW producers to complain about someone "leaking" pictures of the movie without an official release of the trailer , calling it a hoax and bla bla ( sadly I don't have screenshots of those negatives comments but the pic of Boy is later erased) Bob starts posting a couple of pics that no one has ever seen before and that are absolutely Bill related:

August 3 The Toronto international film festival announces BKW premiere for sep 9

Sep 2 Bill is seen attending one again a UFC match in Paris .

Sep 9 The day of the premiere in Canada. Bill went to another UFC event , this time in Uppsala.

Coincidence?

Isn't curious that every time something big about BKW was out or about to happen ,Bill , let himself be seen in a UFC match ? It is very well known that he loves those sports, so I don't think these were the first or only times he attended a public UFC event.

Which is more important: the images we saw of him among the public didn't come from fans around him but from the official media present at the event. They were not accidental sightings, he wanted people to see him there. He knows how to hide , he could have gone and refused to be acknowledged in the public but he smiled and played along with the media there.

In 2023 the SAG AFTRA strike paralyzed the industry, no one could really promote upcoming projects without being accused of going against the strike. Maybe this was his way to promote the material, also for what we see now of the BTS shots , he had a really good time filming. I bet he was so excited about this movie he literally couldn't wait to start showing off what he was able to do.

After all HE and his team reached out to the crew asking to audition for the movie. You can look it up. So this movie wasn't just a cash grab for him HE WANTED to be part of it.

But something happened cause that enthusiasm was non-existent this year.

The first critics to the movie at the TIFF were 50/50. Not very impressive.

2024 it is announced that the inner voice now will be done by H. Jon Benjamin. The original voice was replaced just months before the world premiere.

There is a trailer going around with a voice that pretty much sounds like Bill and if it's really his I can hear he put a lot of effort to give the character an identity that went beyond than just the goofy one the director wanted as the final product.

Maybe anon is in some way right after all ? Maybe Bill agreed on erasing his voice but as an exchange decided to not use his actual voice to promote it.

A tantrum ? Yes absolutely. But also if you think about it maybe he saw it like they didn't take him seriously, his whole effort was not appreciated so along with the production team decided to "stay in character" and not talk about Boy. Others could do it for him.

****PLEASE do not take this as proof of anything, it's just speculation I did on my way home from my job.

He by all means could be just a diva who just didn't want to be part of the fuss of this premiere and that's it. Only the crew and him know what really happened. ****

I know Bill is an amazing actor and all but that voice over of his doesn't sound anywhere near like him at all. It sounds more like the robot voice. How do we know 100% it's actually him? Just curious?

We don't know BUT if you watched Clark ( his swedish series) you'll notice how similiar his voice is to the first bkw trailer.

Now that I'm paying attention this voice gives the trailer a more serious sort of dark tone ,right ? interesting.

The director and producers were interviewed about the VO switch. They said Bill's performance was fantastic, but the overall tone of the movie became more serious and dramatic than their original vision. The Archer VO brought back the absurdist contrast they wanted. Who knows why they didn't ask Bill to re-record. Maybe he wasn't available. Maybe the Archer VO was cheaper. Maybe they couldn't financially risk Bill not getting the timing or tone they wanted. It's not a slam on Bill. It happens.

Interesting thing is that not even with the change of voice the crititcs were happy. Some still labeled the movie as a "try hard", they find it too absurd now that it doesn't show more depth of the story or charcter , that both premises: drama and comedy in the film are in constant conflict... some said that is a very fun movie , praising Bill's work and not talking much about the voice.

MY friends said that everything is just perfect, voice and acting ... so each will decide. ME? , well I´ll go see it this weekend, in english and also in spanish (dub) to see how much of a difference " a voice" and its interpretation can make over the whole movie.

Lionsgate can be lazy with marketing, but not this lazy, so I can’t fully blame them as this was a Roadside Attractions movie. BKW wasn’t even on Lionsgate’s 📌 trailers on Instagram/TikTok, so I think their job was more on the distribution side, rather than marketing as it wasn’t even part of their movie lineup at CinemaCon. Bill definitely took the MUTE part of his role quite literally, because did he even speak at the BKW premiere. It’s almost like he just showed up because it would look weird if he wasn’t there. Now that I know that he initially did the voice over as shown at TIFF and he got replaced, maybe that played a part into his lack of promotion, especially as the lead :( or maybe he just didn’t get paid enough lol.

It wasn't confirmed but it is very likely that the first voice , the one people heard at the TIFF , was Bill voice . I've always wondered what he thought about the sudden change in the voice. I know some first critics said that Bill's voice didn't fit well with the theme of the movie ( if you ask me for the source ,I'm not sure but I know I read it somewhere ) , but some others attendees ( from Twitter) said they found interesting how much depth and comical timing Bill had with his voice for this character.

We will never know. I hope they release a dvd version with the first voice or maybe for the streaming version???

Is this a safe space to finally say that the BKW promotion WAS NOT ENOUGH and started a bit too late?

A movie as fun and full of action like this one deserved more. For what I've read in Twitter / X not even south African people knew about this.

In Latin America I saw more ads from the distribution companies ( in Portuguese and Spanish) but the bkw ig page doesn't seem to have paid for ads on IG or fb.

And to make things worse, the face: Bill Skarsgård didn't do anything else to promote it besides attending the premiere. Valter and Eija did more for him by sharing the clip and trailer on their IG stories.

I mentioned this before I'll say it again , there were Q&A clips from the red carpet SAM RAIMI himself took the time to play along and answer ... Where was the star? *crickets*

This past week the zendaya movie premiered too and did better than BKW marketing wise because since the beginning people were able to link one face to the product. Bill could have done the same , putting himself out there to compensate the -lets admit it - lazy marketing campaign.

Let's hope things get better in the near future , because if Lionsgate and Bill's team are going to manage the promotion for "The crow" like this then ... It'll flop terribly.

let me tell you sth all. See Sam Raimi didn't take any pictures with any of the movie actors. It's not only Bill. Y'all need to chill. I honestly think Bill is more interested in The Crow than BKW

He did take a pic with the director and other guys from the production , thats why i said that it could mean NOTHING.

He's the only one who knows what's going on.

AAAND Bill signing that photo of him as Eric Draven gives me hope that he is not regreting it ? giving it kinda of like an endorsement of what he did ?? maybe i'm reading too much into it.

Bill didn't seem to interact with a lot of people at the BKW premier. Or at least in the photos and videos we've seen. He barely looked at Famke when he was standing right next to her. He's supposedly been close to Zainab the producer and no pics with her either? He looked great and the goth look works for him. But he's also been seen wearing nothing but black for a long time now anytime he's been out and about. Looking at all the behind the scenes pics and videos coming out now from BKW he looks happy and everyone seemed to have a great time too. Not sure why he looked so uncomfortable and not mingling with them at the premiere other than the kids.

As for his PR team suddenly actually PR-ing him for once, we'll have to see. That new blonde PR lady he's been seen walking around NYC with and pulling him along at the premiere definitely seems to be taking her job really seriously so maybe they'll get his career back on track especially with everything coming out this year. He is an incredible actor and deserves more praise for that and not all the crap he's been getting due to his crazy "relationship choices". There's always rumors about him and someone other than HER anyway. As long as SHE stays out of the picture I'm ok with everything else.

They did some small Q&A clips on the red carpet ( what's your favorite weapon) and he THE MAIN CHARACTER , did not participate in it .... WHY ? was he late or WHAT?

He was so anxious that day , its been a long time I get it, he looked more relaxed after the red carpet , up in the stage. I , again, want to believe this is just an schedulle - stress thing and that everything is fine with the crew and fellow actor.

Yes that blonde lady was not playing that day , she had work to get done and she made sure to complet it. Fingers cross they know ehat they are doing and please more goth looks for who I and many others call: The king of goth and horror.

We in general want more of Bill as a figure ... as long as "we know who" stays in her lane, then perfect.

I suspect Sam Raimi isn't very pleased with Bill for being a promo dodging piece of shit on a movie where he's the headliner. Bill should watch himself - that kind of reputation catches up to you. There's a saying in Hollywood, "Be kind to the craft service guy today because he/she could be your producer tomorrow." Power changes on a dime, and you're an idiot if you EVER think you're too big or too connected to worry about burnt bridges. (And frankly, Bill isn't THAT big or connected.)

That's why i'm really hopping this guy organize better his schedulle , take a deep breath , buckle up and promote every single project he worked on. Everything from BKW , the crow and Nosferatu.

Nosferatu gotta be the cherry on top for this year , he must warm up the public first... If he is just saving himself for that late premiereof December then he and his work team are big idiots.

Literally all the gods are giving him this second chance , after the lost of momentum that came after IT , to get himself out there. If he lets this go , idk how he will be able to sleep at night ...

The Tea:

Bill was not listed to the trades as attending the BKW premiere until quite late (lack of promotion before the premiere… not a good look) and you may have noticed his Court Orlok inspired outfit. His team are trying to rugsweep Crow (and BKW) and get everyone talking about Nosferatu instead. They think it’s gonna be awards bait (it’s not) so expect him to be dressing like a vampire for the next year. More pap walks and probably a PR relationship or “rumours” of him and xyz. The goal for this year seems to be exposure.

There was an A Skarsgard on the lists but that was meant for Alex (he always gets offered Bills premiere invites but declines - must be a brothers agreement) so no marriage between B and A.

I didn't want to say anything on the premiere day but I was very surprised of not seeing one pic of Sam raimi and Bill, there is a just one group photo with both of them, yes, but that was it ...It could mean nothing I don't know but it was weird.

I want to believe he is not promoting stuff because of his schedulle , if it's not that then he is blowing off his own reputation and work ethics.

Yes I noticed the outfit as something premeditaded but for me is not only for nosferatu, this can also work for The crow too. The long coat and all black outfit is in general a very gothic look which ,by the way , works very good on him.

The team better not sweep The crow promotion under the rug because whether they like it or not , is it going to be one of the biggest releases of his career ( bc of everything surrounding it) . In my opinion they should keep up with the goth look , do more interviews for big media and youtube channels , share honest thoughts about his work ... what he has on his favour is that not even The crow die hard fanbase can deny he is a good fckn actor, they are only complaining about the new character aesthetics. Younger generations and people who does not take the 94's movie as the second arrival of christ are more chill about it and THEY are ones Bill's team and the crow's team must charm, cause they will spread the word about the movie. His charisma will do wonders, it worked for IT right? ( I wasn't around during that time)
