Yes I'm german too :) I initially planned on staying at least til June, as of right now I still have a flight scheduled then. But this whole situation is way too uncertain, the amount of cases in NZ is growing though, by far not as high as Germany but who knows how long the lockdown will take..

I hope your flight goes smoothly and you don't get stuck somewhere else!! Good that you could get a flight for a decent price! I was too late for that.. Gosh I was panicking when I heard about the lockdown here.. Looking for a place to stay at until I can go home, hoping for these flights to work out to begin with.. I just want to be home at this point tbh

Omg I just saw that you're stranded in Australia! Did you get home already?? I'm stranded in New Zealand and have to wait for the rescuing flights from the German government 🥺 I felt that when you said that Germany isn't exactly the safest place to be 😂 cause yeah I think that way too, but I can't wait it out here.. Who knows how the world looks like in a month..

nope my flight is on monday next week if it doesn't get cancelled!! also yeah the german government sends flights to NZ and is planning the same for australia but there's nothing happening so my friends and i just booked on our own when we finally got a bit cheaper flight ;; there's still the risk that doha (our stop) will shut down and then we're stuck there so we're praying that won't be the case 🙇🏻‍♀️ my friend also stays in NZ right now and he's also waiting currently :')
