"You mean angels, right?" She then got an idea, remembering something she had seen in a book, and quickly scanned the pages on her laptop. "Here!"
She turned her screen around and showed the symbol and writing to Aziraphale. "It's an angelic summoning ritual." Martha looked back over the ingredients. "I think I could get this stuff together, and if it works, maybe summon an angel and question them, see if they'll help us."

"Well, who doesn't have something against wasps and hornets" Martha smiled as she interjected, trying to crack a joke to lighten the mood, then moved closer too her friend. She was silent, letting him finish, and when he did, the final question hung in the air for a moment.
She thought about her answer before replying. "Minus four. You said twenty thousand minus four. If this is a fixed point, we can't stop it, but we don't know if it is yet, and even if it is. Minus four. You saved four people in Pompeii, and they went on to live lives, thanks to you. Maybe we can't stop it altogether, but if that's true, we need to try and protect as many lives as we can. You said you stopped caring, well, start again. In medical school, they told me: "You can never save everyone, no matter how hard you try, and caring about them is what makes you a good person. Being able to learn and move forward from it so that others may live is what makes you a good doctor.""

He glanced over at Martha, a small smile growing on his face as she spoke. “Ohh, Aristotle,” he said, “Actually, not Aristotle - it’s commonly misattributed to Aristotle, but actually, the one who came up with that was Will Durant.” He leaned back, staring up at the high ceiling for a moment. “I met Aristotle once. Good man, even if he did have something against wasps and hornets.”
He sighed heavily, and glanced down at the floor. “Still, the rules are there for a reason. Can’t get around a fixed point - I could have shattered all of time and space, but I just didn’t care any more. Sometimes, I think a Time Lord lives too long… What if this Apocalypse is supposed to happen? Who am I to meddle in something that’s prophesised?” He laughed bitterly. “The last time I meddled in prophecy, I ended up causing Volcano Day on Pompeii. Twenty thousand people. Twenty thousand people minus four.”
He shook his head, feeling a sudden, uncharacteristic surge of desperation. “What do I do, Martha?”

Martha pulled her fist back and held it in her other hand. She had had UNIT training, so she knew how to pack a punch, but it still hurt every time. This time, however, it was really, really satisfying.
"No, I don't think I will. I've been wanting to do that for weeks now."
Oh come on that wasn’t fair.

Martha pointed towards the main part of town, opening her eyes and looking at the man. "There's a restaurant off of Main Street, and a bar right next to it, on the corner across from the pawn shop."
She gave him a small smile, not wanting to anger him, having gotten the feeling that this man was dangerous. She also had the sense that he was something different, other. It was something she picked up after years of dealing with aliens and UNIT.
A Walk in the Park // Open
It was the day after the full moon, Peter was still feeling slightly weak from his turn. He wondered in he could cut through the park to get to the taverns. He still didn’t fully know his way around. The sun was something Peter had yet to get used to. It didn’t usually get hot in Hemlock Grove, not like it was today at least.
The werewolf sat on the bench next to a woman who seemed to be enjoying it. Either that or she was just taking a short cap nap. Peter suddenly longed for his hammock. “Excuse me ma’am, do you know where I can get a bite to eat? Possibly a bar of the sorts.” He said in the most polite way he knew. The last thing Peter wanted was to make an enemy.

I'm not a hero, Sam. I don't try to be, and I don't pretend to be. I'm just a person who knows what's out there and is trying to do the right thing. People are going to die. Lots of people. and I'm trying to stop that.
I'm not a babysitter either, and I'm not going to bother with someone who doesn't care about anyone else but themselves.

Martha looked down, away from the Doctor to give him a moment of privacy. She frowned, upset to see her friend like this.
"You... you know about fixed points. I'm sure, if you tried to change something, you had good reasons. You wouldn't otherwise. You have faults, sure, and I've seen that you have a darkness in you, but so do all of us.
Do you want to know what I told all those people about you when I was going across the Earth? That you were an alien, but that you were one of the most human people I've ever met. That you were always going to be there to protect us as best as you can,
The things that make us good or bad people, are our choices. Sometimes we make wrong ones. But a philosopher said "We are what we repeatedly do." . You protect this planet time and time again, one that you only have an arbitrary connection to at most, consistently try to save people, You always try to make the choices that help the most people you can. You aren't perfect, but who is? You're a good man, Doctor. Even if you forget it at times."

Martha gave a salute to her laptop and the people watching her on the screen, then closed it.
She had just finished giving a report to her superiors about the town. She had told them that, while there was no need for military intervention at this time, she thought it would be best if she stayed in town longer. She didn't mention the Apocalypse, because she had such little information, she wanted to wait until things were substantial, until she had solid proof to report it to UNIT. She loved her job, and didn't want to loose it due to them thinking she was crazy.
Still, the report had given her the first chance in days to get out of the library for a decent length of time. She had had to go find a private place with a stronger internet connection than the library had, ending up at the park.
As she walked back, she took a seat on a bench, she placed her laptop next to her and closed her eyes for a moment, letting herself enjoy the sun on her skin in a rare moment of serenity since she had arrived.

Martha watched as the Doctor spoke, noticing the distress on his face.
"Doctor? What's wrong?" She knew him well enough to see that his mind was on different things, things that were troubling him deeply.  She crossed the room before gently placing a hand on her friend's shoulder. "We can stop this thing. You, me, Jack, Rose, all of us. We've done it before, we can do it again." She paused. "Do you want to talk about what's bothering you?

I don't need your protection, I never asked for it, and I've seen things more impossible than you could ever believe. I can believe almost anything. And I'm not going to thank you for treating me like I'm some weak, incapable moron.  Maybe it's not your job to care about the millions of people that are going to die, but I do, because I have a level of basic human decency.
My job is to go into places where the world is about to go to hell and stop it. That's what I do. I'm pretty good at it, and I'm not going to stop just because a giant asshole told me to.

"Great..." Martha sighed and placed her head on the table. "This is getting us nowhere, every way we turn there's just another problem that we don't know how to possibly solve."
This was getting incredibly frustrating, she had been living at the library for a week, and while she had information, there was nothing to point her to a useful course of action, a dead end after dead end. She felt completely useless. This guy, Aziraphale, was getting her much farther than her research than any of the books she had read cover to cover.

"And get some of those bliss patches that destroyed the government? No thanks." she joked, smiling. "I'll be fine, Doctor. Don't worry about me."
She thought back through her research and frowned. "I don't know as much as I'd like to. And I'm not so sure about the rewriting history thing. There's enough prophecy for the end of times in our history, and a lot of them say very similar things, which I don't think is a coincidence. From my research, it's not going to wipe out humanity, just a sizable portion of it, some will survive and continue the species, I don't think that it will actually destroy the world either, so I don't think that it would show up in the history of the universe, a small planet that isn't completely wiped out, why would there be a major entry on that?"

Martha felt a jot of energy rush through her, as if she had just down a double espresso. "Horsemen... how can we identify them though, and how do we stop them from riding? It says..." She paused as she looked back through her notes. "That Pestilence, War, Famine and Death will come on a white, red, black, and pale horses, in order, and that their coming will be the first part of the next stage of the Apocalypse, the Seven Seals of the Scroll. I'm not sure if that will be literal horses or not, or what they can do when they get here, but they sound powerful and dangerous."

So do I.  I have to go stop the Apocalypse, which someone lied to me and said wasn't happening, laughed in my face about it, really, and now doesn't seem to give a single goddamn shit about the fate of the world.

You’re a selfish, conceited, stupid, jackass, Sam, and I don’t know how you could possibly be the same man I met before.

"Great, so one side is going to 'win', no matter what, but we don't know how to stop it." She was feeling her exhaustion catch up with her, even despite the coffee quickly growing cold besides her, and she could barely suppress a yawn. "I---If its the same situation, or even if it's just similar, knowing what worked last time would be helpful for planning, even if you don't do the same thing."

She was glad for the awkward attempt a comfort, and the change of subject. "Yeah, I, uh, have some information on that front. It's..." She knew she wasn't being very articulate, but it was a difficult thing to say. She decided to just spit it out with a sigh.
"It's the Apocalypse. The biblical one. It's drawing people in."
