i'm not sure how to explain this but i think a LOT of dumb fandom discourse about media - all media, i see this in basically every fandom - comes from an apparently widespread belief that a person's agency in any decision they make can only be either 0% or 100%, like, either you did absolutely nothing wrong in any sense you can be considered responsible for or your actions are purely self-created and the circumstances you're reacting to might help explain them but cannot do anything to diminish culpability. i don't think it actually works like that

Having so many thoughts about Paige Guthrie and her relationship with her family right now

Paige and Jono drive me so nuts because they’re so clearly right person, wrong time because Jono is in the middle of hating himself because of his powers and how they changed his body and Paige is at the start of pushing herself to work too hard in order to impress everyone around her because she’s not worth anything if she’s not being helpful. If either of them could actually sit down and talk about what they’re feeling, it would work but unfortunately they’re both teenagers and not fully aware of what the problem is

Hey anyone else thinking about how Paige, despite being flat out ignored by her mom, still tries to connect with her and says she loves her mom? How Paige barely interacts with her siblings aside from Sam but Sam assumes Jay likes Paige more than him even though there’s no evidence for that? How Paige is shown to have emotional distress or issues with her mutation that’s addressed but solved off page on her own? And then how when we’re shown Paige’s deepest wish it’s to be wanted and taken care of?
