this is just gonna be me bsing about the pixie chicks because I’m bored
in an old archived article it states that there was supposed to be a movie where tinks friend falls in love, he dies and the girl goes to a fairy band referred to as the pixie chicks and it looks like it goes with the brain freeze Entertainment storyboards
But completely unrelated to that is the bonus dvd that was supposed to release with the TB movie
These are different from the others as they don’t seem to include any other characters than the 3 girls
now what’s weird about the “If you Believe” short is that it was produced by Attitude Studios in 2007 in France unlike Ring of belief being done in India
Attitude Studios worked on mainly motion capture projects like Renaissance (2006) and video games which is why I find it weird they did the bonus short
but there’s not only the bonus dvd itself but the test shots of the girls
I’ve been slacking recently so i haven’t found any new clips of them but I’ve at least made a list of people who should have worked on this short
The ❌s mean I’ve emailed them and they either had nothing or didn’t respond
this will be the death of me

Historical mermay prompt 6: Rococo Mermaid
Does a.... kraken-maid count? I'm going to say she counts for Mermay. It’s rococo so it had to have pastels, ruffles, and covered be in roses/bows. Based at least a little bit on my fave reference for the era, Madame de Pompadour.

My MS Paint Wanda drawing is finally, FINALLY, done and I couldn't be happier with it. Yes, you read that right, I drew this with MS Paint. With a mouse as well.
Detail shots & references under the cut. I have a write up on all my different influences & thoughts on my design process
First, the detail shots because I'm so proud of this drawing:
Hair, face, and tiara
Wanda's hex bolts + her gloves
Her belt
Torso + cape
Last but not least, her boots :]
-
In case you're not in the loop, this is a digitalization of this older drawing that is included in the link below.
-
Regarding the design process, a lot more went into this then one might think. I pull from a lot of influences to make my final vision of Wanda a reality, as well as having my own ideas of how I picture her in my head.
Let's get the obvious ones out of the way first.
This pose is a direct redraw of Sandy Plunkett's drawing of Wanda in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe #9 (1983). I can't explain what it was, but something about this pose spoke to me.
It's a pose that just says "the Scarlet Witch" in my mind.
The overall main costume is clearly Alan Davis' extremely underappreciated costume of Wanda. I seriously love this costume and I need more people to talk about it.
I did make a few changes to it to suit my personal tastes:
1. I extended Wanda's pink under-bodysuit so she's not at risk of popping out of her costume.
2. I *did* remove the hoops and bangles, I love Wanda in jewelry but these pieces just feel like lazy shortcuts meant to convey a 'gypsy' look that are leftovers from George Pérez's iconic but extremely stereotypical (and inaccurate) costume that was used to convey Wanda as a Romani character. The necklace was removed because I felt that it was both busy and I didn't have room on my own drawing to include it.
I kept the waist jewelry because it fills in space, gives some contrast to the suit, & adds a little more to look at. Also, I just like how it looks.
It wasn't included in the original paper & pencil drawing because I couldn't get it to look a way I like.
3. The gloves are drawing off the chunkier at the bottom gloves that you see a lot for classic Wanda.
The final main influence would be Travis Charest's absolutely incredible drawing of Wanda. This is one of *the* defining images of Wanda for me. I just want to eat this and have it live in my brain forever.
The cape design, the overall high contrast shading/highlighting effects, and the way Wanda's body looks in her costume were heavily drawn from when I was doing my MS Paint drawing.
-
Some influences that aren't as heavy, but still inspire me when I draw Wanda:
John Byrne's Wanda is an influence in my drawing even though I didn't draw Wanda in her classic costume. The large tiara & the taller pointier top of the costume - in contrast to the lower more rounded edges of Wanda's costume in the Davis design - in particular can be seen in my drawing.
The Wanda that George Pérez drew is a major inspiration in general. I think her eyes & big beautiful hair in particular are very noticeable inspirations in how I draw Wanda, but just the general vibes of his art as well. You can tell he had a ton of love for Wanda that really showed up in his artwork.
-
Regarding Wanda's tiara, there are a number of influences I use when I'm drawing my iteration of it. Though, I will say that the ones listed below aren't the only ones I use:
These two sketches by Phil Jimenez for the overall shape
Alex Maleev's drawings, these two drawings in particular, were *MAJOR* inspiration for the way I draw Wanda's tiara.
This one drawing from Iron Man Annual #13 (1992). The height of the inner and outer edges of the tiara that are near Wanda's forehead are in particular being drawn from.
The thinner edges around the pieces of the tiara that are around Wanda's face are heavily drawn from the way Richard Howell would draw her from a frontal view.
I also realized I unintentionally kind of channeled Tim Sale's Batman with his giant ears as well, lol. Tim Sale is in general an inspiration to me, though this one was rather accidental.
-
My Wanda's physical appearance isn't drawing from one person or drawing, but many combined to get the whole picture.
I will say that my Wanda is *explicitly* Roma and her physical appearance resembles that.
I am not debating with gadje.
As a mixed white passing Roma, I do *not* feel represented by whitewashed depictions and I especially do not represented by *that* white woman.
If you argue with me about depicting Wanda as a brown woman, I want you first to ask yourself why you're arguing in favour of whitewashing & the comic industry's heavy (racist) preference towards depicting characters of colours as white
-
Anyway, back to talking about Wanda's appearance.
I wanted her to look like a person even though this is a heavily stylized MS Paint drawing of a comic book character. I did my best to convey the general 'super hero' look without vacuum sealing her into her costume or breaking her anatomy to suit the pose.
I'm still not super great at drawing people like I am horses, but I hope this all looks okay and anatomically plausible to yall.
-
The hair was very important to me when I was drawing. I knew immediately what I wanted to do with her hair, which was big, beautiful, and having tons of shape to it.
I didn't do my redraw out of spite or maliciousness, but I will say one of the reasons I wanted to redraw Plunkett's Scarlet Witch drawing was because the hair bothered me & I wanted to rectify it. Wanda is Romani, her hair should be ridiculously thick with a lot of shape (speaking from experience, it is a curse and blessing, but mostly a curse lol).
I also drew from the shape of her hex bolts some when I was first drawing this.
-
Speaking of hex bolts, I went with a more modern way of drawing them as I really do like the circle & point style you'll see drawn by certain artists.
I decided to use pink because I'm a pink fiend (in case my blog's colour didn't make that obvious lmao) and I find it helps it helps her powers stand out and helps prevent the overall look from being too red heavy.
I added a light pink to magenta gradient to make her hexes look more visually interesting
-
Regarding colouring, I don't have much to say beyond that I wanted this drawing to *POP* out at you.
Classic bright comic colours, because I'm a sucker for the saturated look.
I gave her a very reddish dark brown colour scheme for her hair & eyes because I like to be matchy matchy like that. Shoutout to my friend Vinny for convincing me to go with the brown eyes.
-
Alright, that's all I wanted to say. I hope you enjoyed my drawing and the thought process behind it :3

okayokayokay... hear me out. Barbie Fairytopia AU where everything is the same, except the necklace the Enchantress gave Elina didn't give her wings, she instead got the power of Magic Footsteps.
[ID: a digital art sketch of the characters Dandelion and Elina from Barbie Fairytopia running/flying through a field of flowers. Dandelion is a slender fairy with long pigtails, a skirt made of dandelion fluff and petals, and pixie wings fluttering behind her, orange and white sparkles trailing behind her as she flies excitedly by Elina. Elina is a taller, likewise slender fairy but, diverging from canon, she doesn't have wings and is instead running on glittering, magical, platforms that appear wherever she steps, while Dandelion flies beside her. She's wearing a dress with a layered, rose-petal skirt, with a sleeveless top with two petal-like decorations that trail off her shoulders. Her hair is in a low bun. The two are looking at each other and smiling. /END ID]
