Research: Cinema The host
I have recently been to the cinema to watch The Host. The advert for this film was amazing and sold the film really well. However, It was nothing like the advert and was completely misleading and different,
The story was really well thought out and very different and unique but at the same time quite Boring. I thought the film had ended three times and I was quite relieved when it finally did. It was an emotional story and you could connect with the characters and how they could have felt if they were put in that situation but it was almost feeling sorry rather than comparing what you would do in that situation. The Main Actress, Saoirse Ronan was a great character and was really good at what she was doing. She sold it well. However the other actors kind of let it down i felt as though they were acting and Saoirse wasn't if that makes sense.
Overall, well thought out and different but i think simpler is always better and maybe in this case a lot simpler would have been better.

Fmp: Further Development in the script
So I have recently thought about the ending to my short drama, and I think there could be a better way to end it. Well even better than the original ending. I have a lot of confidence that it will work out and I have a lot of faith in the original idea but it just came to me the actor who Plays the "Chav" hasn't got a large part or role in the short Drama and I would like him to have. Therefore I have thought about making a bigger twist or a twist with a twist.
So here is what my idea is:
At the end where Scott is in the Garden:
EXT. GARDEN - NIGHT
Scott is sat on a garden chair holding onto the last picture he took of his family. He is tearful as he looks at the image.
Camera shot- same as first specific shot, over the shoulder of the image. The camera slowly moves back through the house to focus on Scott. Fade to Black.
This was originally the end of the Short Drama.
What I want to change is where it fades to black Instead fade to an orange colour like fire and then it zooms out and it is a fire where someone is putting pictures in. the camera then zooms down to the pictures in the Man's hand and you can see Jane (the mother and Wife) looking cosy and in love with a man not her husband. The camera then moves up revealing the man, who is the "Chav". It then cuts.
The kind of reaction I'm looking for is Lies and Happy families don't go together and you are going to loose something or someone in the end.
Nobody can have everything.

Fmp: Music choices
I have been looking into music choices for my Final Major Project. I have thought about the music choice a lot. I think it is an important part as it reflects what has been seen and said in the music.
I know I need to get permission to use certain songs therefore I have looked into ways to resolve the situations here is a website I can use if necessary :

Make-up effects for Alex Brand's Fmp
Alex Brand has asked me to help him out with Make-up effects for his Fmp project. What he wants to achieve is
To make the characters look dehydrated (Blue lips & sweating)
To make them look Pale
To make them look tired and worn out.
To make them look dirty.
To make them look ......
So I have tried to look into some videos on YouTube and other websites. However, I couldn't find any relevant ones so I looked into a website that tells you about side effects, I'm going to try out some of these and see if I can get them right before the shooting day for Alex's project.
Here is what i found:
Are you Dehydrated?
Dehydration may not seem like a pressing issue, but the fact is, the average person spends most of their lives in at least a partial state of dehydration, leading to symptoms that are easily enough avoided simply by giving your body the fluids it needs.
You know that severe dehydration can be fatal, and since you are not at risk for such drastic effects, you think you are not affected. But did you know, many of your everyday physical complaints could be due to dehydration?
Mild dehydration can be the cause of:
Headaches: This can be possible to do not with Make-up though
Fatigue: Also do-able
Dry mouth: I can do this with Make-up
Low blood pressure: This isn't relevant and can't be done
Dizziness: Acting can make the actors look dizzy
Constipation: Also not relevant and can't be done
Dry skin: I can do this with make-up and will look into it.
Nausea: This can also be done but i don' think its relevant.
Shortness of breath: This can be done without make-up.
Rapid heart rate: This can be done without make-up.
Hot flashes: This can be done by applying Vaseline to the forehead and other 'Hots spots' and dab water over the coated area to give it a sweaty affect.

I have recently received and email form Star now (the website I use for the casting jobs) and I have got a match to for the Main role Scott here is what he had to say Philip Stapelton about my idea:
I was very happy when he said he was reliable and passionate about acting and that the Project stood out at him! There are thousands of Jobs on the Star now website and he chose to respond to my ad. I was very thankful and happy. I now have almost a full cast i have 2 weeks left till I need to start filming. So it is time i find the next actress "Jane".

FMP: Pitch feedback from tutors
The feedback from the tutors was really good, they didn't have a bad thing to say. They made me believe in myself more and have given me more than enough support. The only thing they asked about was the Location and i have to agree with them. Hearing it out loud as made me think is it feasible? So they have asked me to move location or to consider it, to St Annes it is still in Blackpool but on the outskirts. It's quieter and will properly be a lot easier to film there.
Theses are some of the shots i would love to get :
So i have decided i'm moving the Location to St Anne's, Soon i'm going to go do a test shoot with a few classmates. And see if it will work out and get a feel of what i can get from it.

I have looked into short horrors & thrillers and this is what i came across:

This was a great story the twist was very unexpected and well thought out. the shots were also fantastic the first scene inspired me to do something similar with my drama were the camera follows the character. So I'm going to try do something similar.

I don't quite understand this short drama, I do understand it i just don't think the idea is well thought out or there's a reason behind it there are a few shot i like so i might use them and have a go on trying them out if i do ill post another blog about it.

FMP: Pitch
This is my final Major Project Pitch, I have uploaded the images because I want to explain them step by step:
At first this page was Idea,Plan, Do and Review,The reason I changed it was because it didn't sound professional. So i changed it to this. Better layout and easier to understand.
When I got to this page in the pitch I would have to click script and the script would appear (I have also uploaded the script in a different post) i also handed out some to the teachers who where there.
This is the basic outline of what the script says.
Some images i gathered from the internet, what the cast will be like.
I cut this down to 4 main topics so when i was reading from my notes I said the following:

Beach (Blackpool) Don’t need permission
Car park (Blackpool) Might need Permission

Garden (Undecided)

Theses are the people who will be helping me to full fill my short drama. They have all agreed to help and i have agreed to help them with theirs.
If i can't record the sounds myself i have a backup plan to buy them online and then use them.
Location: Blackpool (St Anne's)
Time Frame: April or May
Production Lenght: Half a day
Feasibility: Yes
Cast: Casting website and Facebook ads.
Where i will get my research from.
These are a few things i will need to do.
The pitch went really well and all the teachers thought it was a good idea. Before doing the pitch I asked for some feedback from some class mates and they thought it sounded great. I also practised in front of my parents and sister and they thought it was great too.
