I have more to add to this regarding the way people believe that the only way villains deserve to live is if they have a tragic enough backstory or are the perfect victim. And how even at this point in the story, fans still ignorantly view the world in black and white. but I’ve got to get up for work tomorrow so my thesis will have to wait.

And! The argument of ‘if shiggy hadn’t have had xyz happen, he wouldn’t have been bad’ needs to die off now bc that isn’t the point. HE DIDNT GET THE CHOICE. He could’ve been a hero or he could’ve been a villain, but the point isn’t that his backstory is a reason he became a villain. He literally never had an option. His whole autonomy was taken from him! Free will is the basis of being a person and he didn’t even get that. He deserved the ability to choose who he wanted to be !

The tragedy of the fact that shiggy was never suppose to have peace. He literally was BORN so he could become afo’s prime vessel. Every awful thing that ever happened to him was hand crafted and planned even before he was born. He was always going to suffer because that’s what he was made for and nobody was ever going to be able to save him because he simply wasn’t made to be saved.
