The Muse
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sydney is back on set wearing the scarf from when it all began. The name of it is the Musa Bandana, after the Musa plant which produces bananas and plantains. Much like the very first meal she ever made which had plantains. Musa is also a word for muse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmy wanted to create a *thoughtful* chaos menu with her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sydney was looking for inspiration in NOMA. Carmy wanted to look for inspiration in the food tour.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmy inspired Sydney's dish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sydney inspired Carmy's drawings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is his muse and he is hers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I can't wait to see what else they're going to inspire out of each other next season.

i've been trying to follow the filming stuff but it’s tough bc i’m not on twitter and i avoid the subreddit like the plague. but does it seem like jeremy and ayo haven’t been spotted on set or at the filming locations at the same time much? i feel like jeremy is spotted a lot (mostly bc of his smoke breaks lol) but i haven’t seen ayo as much and if she is there then it’s when jeremy isn’t. i’m starting to wonder if they won’t share a lot of scenes or storylines this season :/ any thoughts?
They've had scenes together with the other people in the crew at Nat's house, the funeral, Ever, The Bear, etc. There are a few Carmy flashbacks scenes next season that they've filmed so she's not there for those. I think most of their scenes of just the two of them would be inside the restaurant which is on a sound stage so no pics of that or in Carmy's or Syd's apartment which is also hard to get a pic of.

Claire and Carmy's future....
Tumblr media
Season 3 Potential Spoilers in 3, 2, 1
Someone caught them filming a scene with Carmy, Claire, and Richie.
I hear Carmy saying "I didn't fucking do it! You know I wouldn't! I'm sorry!" and Claire says "Yeah you did! You lied about it! What are you doing?"
What could our resident Chill-Cool-Girl-That's-A-Friend be so heated up about that she would yell at Carmy like that accusing him of lying?? 🤔
Tumblr media
She knew something was off the moment she walked into that building and saw Sydney. I am so ready for her to figure out all his emotional cheating and put the clues together. Carmy must suffer.

Sydney is on the last train home
Tumblr media
This clips little mention of a choo choo train reminded me of something.
At the end of Ceres after Carmy turned down Sydney's risotto dish, Last Train home is playing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sydney is what Carmy believes to be the fallen angel, she fell into The Beef to save it. But really she's just there because she fell behind on life. She feels out of luck and out of time. Her wishbone tattoo symbolizing her desire for good luck and her mother's car symbolizing her short time on earth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Carmy doesn't want to love her or listen to her and help her get to where she feels she needs to get (the stars, accolades etc) then he needs to let her go because she feels out of time to achieve her goals. Season 3 it's all on the line for her because she feels like she is giving it her all and it's finally being seen by her dad, and she can't let Carmy be the one to mess it up for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She put her heart where it didn't belong by giving the dish to the food critic because she believed in it and loved it. And then things went wrong. Carmy also put his heart where it didn't belong and messed things up for himself by getting locked in the fridge. Sydney overheard him saying he's not even sure he's meant for this and he might not want to keep going, which made Sydney throw up. Sydney wants to know if he's actually going to quit on her or if he's hopping on The Bear Express. Season 3 is the last train for The Bear, they either make or they don't and it ends for Sydney, and everyone else.

In another universe The Bear staff is standing outside staring at the eclipse today with their little glasses except for Fak who just stares directly into the sun and is briefly blinded and I think that's beautiful.

Okay, but you have overstepped multiple times and it gets weird. Your thread about Claire reeks of misogyny because you’re aren’t placing any blame on Carmy, a grown man, acting as if he has zero agency. Also the sex thread? You need to have some boundaries. And connecting things that the actors do to Sydcarmy? It’s odd. Twitter Sydcarmies are starting to notice that you are the one causing this discourse, everything is about sydcarmy to you….and it gets weird. You need to relax. We love sydcarmy just as much as you, but you seek controversy as if we don’t deal with enough jobless incels on a day to day basis. There are things to appreciate about the show outside of the ship and everything the actors do isn’t connected to sydcarmy. We can talk about them, but dragging an irrelevant character like Claire through the mud and blaming her for things that have nothing to do with her? Or sexualizing innocent actions of the characters? I mean come on.
Because the thread wasn't about Carmy and what there is to dislike about him. It was about Claire. Hope that clears things up. If reading the table scene as a parallel to the sex scene in that same episode causes you this much discomfort and crosses your boundaries perhaps you should watch more G rated shows.
Connecting what to who? If I want to post about Sydcarmy every single hour of every single day, guess what? I can. You don't have to read it. The twitter sydcarmies do not need to follow me or keep looking through my tweets if they don't want to, the block button exists. It's up to them to click it, move on, and quit coming back every day to look at my tweets. You don't have to deal with incels or anyone. You can make your accounts private, block people who bother you and move on with your life. You can also scroll through my posts both here and there and see plenty of non ship related posts.
Pointing out Claire's character flaws and how she is not the cliche perfect girl Richie and Fak and everyone thinks she is, is not "dragging" it's actually looking at the show and understanding she is flawed character like everyone else. I made the thread precisely because people only talk about disliking her for being boring or one dimensional when there are plenty of reasons to criticize her as a character and as Carmy's girlfriend.
Sexualizing innocent actions? Bro have you never interacted with any other movie or tv show? Using innuendos and creating tension between characters out of things that are not overtly sexual is not a new concept and not singular to The Bear. Look up the Hays Code.

there's a tweet that says a leaked script had something about Syd visiting Carmy in Arizona -- what's the deal with that? I can't post the link but if you search twitter for "carmy az" you'll see it.

This? Doesn't seem super legit to me. Also don't know how he would even find the time to go to Arizona

what do you think is going to happen to ebraheim in s3 :(
Tumblr media
Grief and loss is a big part of the series with the loss of Mikey obviously, Sydney's mom, and now Marcus' mom, but we don't talk enough about Ebra who objectively has had it worst and seen horrific things. Everyone loves to talk about how Carmy is so traumatized, but Ebra literally lived through a Civil War.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is a refugee from Somalia, we've seen him share little bits of information about his past, like his family meal suqaar, or when they were talking about forming a brigade he mentioned his time being in a brigade during the Somali Civil War. In Review when he's helping Richie after he got stabbed, he tells him the story of Black Hawk down battle of Mogadishu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He definitely has some level of PTSD, he didn't want to wear a uniform at culinary school, and Tina had to reassure him that it "was not that kind of uniform" and then when she said there were a lot of Sydney's in culinary school he told her "Don't look them in the eyes." But honestly seems to handle things pretty well and is generally unphased by the chaos of the kitchen. Carmy clearly also has some PTSD from his traumatic upbringing that makes him panic, and I think they both find comfort in the kitchen but in different ways. Ebra enjoys the chaos and loudness while Carmy is about the perfectionism and order.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was also arguably one of the nicer people to Sydney from the start and respected her quickly, I think because she reminded him of Tina in a way with how assertive she is but still looks out for people. He's also a feminist icon. He also knew they needed help and Carmy wasn't cutting it. He quickly saw the good in her by how she was giving confidence to Marcus. He was the one reading the review and being excited for Sydney and for The Beef getting positive recognition. He was happy to see it change for the better because he cares a lot about The Beef.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But seeing turn into something completely different and riskier with The Bear is scary for him and he didn't really feel like he was changing with the place and felt like he was getting left behind. He was very close with Mikey and worked there for decades, so hopefully we see them together in Mikey's flashbacks. He was also very worried about Carmy messing up the place and the system. I'm sure we'll get more Tina Ebra shenanigans, I think Ebra is a bit of enigma who is always going to be throwing in random bits of his dark lore. He's going to be in charge of the sandwich window in the back when it opens. He was the only one still wearing The Beef uniform, he's an embodiment of the past. But it's not just The Beef that is changing, the entire neighborhood is. I think the window in the back and the main kitchen are going to kind of battle it out. The Beef already has an established clientele and regulars, which are quite a different demographic than the people who are likely to dine at The Bear and it's going to be interesting to see how they all fit in together in Season 3.

Sydney lights a fire for Carmy
Tumblr media
The first thing that happens in the entire series is the sounds of the stove igniter clicking to start a fire, while Carmy is dreaming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sydney brought the heat and fire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really do not think they spent that much screen time explaining the fire suppression system to not put it into work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tina turning up Sydney's literal heat caused problems between them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the pilot light is out, Sydney starts a fire. He was worried about the heat on the stove and the grease trap catching fire right before trying Sydney's dish, then Sydney left and a grease fire breaks out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sydney heard back from Carmy, she almost burned her onions. When Sydney first came to his place, she almost lit his pants on fire. Syd and Carmy have a slow burn. Their fire is increasing. They tried to suppress it and for a while it worked. But the flames are not out and it's going to reignite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Claire, he thought there was a genuine spark and some fire, but it was mostly literally fireworks. Artificial, planned, pretty to look at, but ultimately not a practical source of energy that he needs. Fireworks are also not legal in Illinois. He needed a real fire for the restaurant and the fireworks were not going to cut it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has an energy problem, which is brought up when he was out with Claire all day. We know Fak fixed some of their electrical problems for the fire suppression by rewiring things at the last minute, but if they now get too much amperage that puts them at risk for electrical fires. I would not be surprised if there's some sort of issue that causes the fire again. Sydney gives Carmy fire, they just have to embrace it and harness it.

i was just thinking, it wouldn’t make sense for the show to end in three seasons bc how would that give enough time for them to finish off character arcs and also decide an ending for the restaurant? the endings have to feel deserved and bc we just got the restaurant and we still have a lot left unexplored or unaddressed with the characters, three seasons would be crazy. how do you finish off the intended journey with the restaurant (whether it stays open or closed) and finish off character arcs without it feeling undeserved? everything has to add up and make sense, three seasons wouldn’t be enough to do that. i think four seasons can perfectly do that, but three? ehhh… there’s too much to address as of right now.
I think Chris never really expected to get a second season much less the opportunity to do up to 5 seasons. I think regardless of how many seasons they end up having, he is still going to have the series end the same way he intended it to from the start. And I just don't see him doing major reworks to the ending/arc of season 3 when they're already in the midst of making it.
Tumblr media
Contrary to all the headlines, Season 4 has actually not even been confirmed by FX, and until it is I'm really not getting too much hope up. Those bonus episodes they agreed to film could be added within the Season 3 storyline, so there might not even be a fourth season. Which I think could make sense to just give them more time for things to wrap up, the "partnership" to work itself out, and everyone to have an arc in Season 3 that doesn't feel rushed.
Tumblr media
Also just the general timeline of things, even if they do continue filming into June for a real Season 4, they are very limited in time for producing a fully fledged long season because everyone probably needs to go do their other projects they are signed up for right after. I could see season 4 being a sort of epilogue "where are they now" kind of vibe if they really do end up going in the direction of the restaurant shutting down by the end. If the restaurant doesn't close then I think the ending of season 3 could be moved to be the ending of Season 4.
Tumblr media
I don't really expect any major time jumps in Season 3 because so many major events are happening right at the start of the season. So to wrap up their 15 month timeline in 12+ episodes is tight. I think there will always be more they could have explored for all the characters and some level of loose ends with the story, I think Chris likes to leave a certain level of things up for interpretation.
Tumblr media
As for season 5, I really don't see it happening any time soon if they can't even film for season 4 next year. I could see them doing a Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life situation type of reunion like 5 to 10 years after the finale if the story does go in the direction of The Bear closing and them agreeing to try again in the future.

If we don't ever get to actually see their "partnership" play out on screen after getting all those Claire Carmy episodes that no one asked for.... i will have some words for Chris.
I will be honest; of course, I can't predict it, but I'll be mad if sydcarmy ends in a question mark. If I wanted that, I'd watch season 1. It won't make sense to me.
It will leave me questioning if I imagined that their relationship is the big plot of the series.. then he ends it to where it's open-ended, and it will just be this minor plot of the show.
You already made this fanvid of strange currencies where Sydney interrupts Carmys panic attack Storer. You might as well go all the way!

So what comes next?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In case you have not heard. Season 3 might be the last. This was the same source that first announced that the bear will have additional episodes and they would begin filming in February so I would say they are pretty reliable. It was also Chris' intention to just do 3 seasons, and based on the major themes I do think it makes sense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The timeline to pay back Jimmy was 18 months. We're already 3 months in. I doubt Season 3 will cover an entire year and 3 months. So why end it at Season 3 when there is still so much that could happen and they could explore?
The Bear will shut down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not unheard of for Michelin star restaurants to shut down. I could see them giving it their all and even getting a star or two, but in the end it still not being enough. Operating costs is extremely high. Gentrification was touched lightly in season 1 with the landscape of the neighborhood changing. Many Michelin restaurants are part of restaurant groups and have large financially backing plus generate income through other products like books or packaged goods.
The show has been setting up everyone to be ready to be on their own if or when the time comes.
Marcus becoming a legit pastry chef.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tina leveling up in the kitchen as a sous.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Richie becoming a high end host and expediter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natalie becoming a manager and also a mom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They have all gained skills that could get them a job anywhere else. Carmy and Sydney are the ones still stuck.
Sydney is terrified of having to start over once again, because she's scared of time running out for her. She's not even 30, most people don't get to have their own restaurants until much later in life. She wants what Carmy got and she wants to share it with him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmy doesn't know what he's doing on his own. Mikey was his motivation but now that he's accepted he's gone, the only thing that seems to get him motivated is his fear of disappointing Sydney. He started cooking out of spite and has seemingly ignored all his other interests like fashion and drawing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They need want each other. I think it will end with knowing that they will have each other even if it's not about the restaurant anymore, because really this show was never really about the restaurant but the people in it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Syd will stop stressing about time, Carmy will find his own purpose. And maybe 10 years down the line they'll give it another try and build something completely new and he'll actually be there for her in the process. I think it will be bittersweet, but still hopeful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly this is the only way that I can see it having a concrete ending, without leaving a ton of questions in the air, while still having a optimistic door open for the future. In the end the restaurant might have not succeeded financially, but it brought everyone together and made them better.

I saw your tweet about the Bear and I think that they might be filming flash fowards or something got lost in translation, I don't think they're actually filming two seasons right now especially with how quickly they were able to get back to filming because that would mean 24 or something scripts were written, I just can't see Chris doing that lol. He's efficient, but he still likes quality lol.
I think their pr agency is just telling things to try and throw people off. They have like 5 different filming locations on the same days, I'm sure half won't actually be used. They also started using letters for code instead of literally writing "Carmy's apartment" on their permits.

All this "Syd is a lesbian" allegations reminds me of another John Hughes movie, Some Kind of Wonderful. And as we know Chris doesn't shy away from Hughes references.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sounds familiar, right? Well Keith also has a best friend that everyone thinks is a lesbian.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They even dress the same and they rely on each other a lot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the end of the movie he realizes that she has been in love with him and that he is in love with her, and he gives her a gift to wear that he spent literally all his money on. Sounds familiar right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just some food for thought.

Wondering if you have any thoughts on the symbolism of “our mother of victory” line between the siblings. Not sure if it has any meaning behind just reflecting their (probably) catholic upbringing, but I don’t trust anything in this show to not have further meaning so wondering what smarter minds out there mean…
Our Mother of Victory, Pray for Us
Tumblr media
The root of this is in the saying Our Lady of Victory, Pray for Us, which comes from a battle that the Catholics won against the Ottoman Turks. It is often used as a prayer before big event, Notre Dame football team says it before football games for good luck. Adding mother instead of Lady places their mother, Donna, in comparison to a literal Saint, the Virgin Mary. Which is ironic and part of their inside joke because as we know she is far from a Saint.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But I actually think this is a reference to a John Hughes movie called The Great Outdoors, a movie about bear attacks believe it or not. In the opening scene the say Our Lady of Victory, Pray for Us.
We already know Chris Storer has said Hughes movies are a big source of inspiration, specifically in season 2. He included songs from movies like Pretty in Pink, National Lampoons Vacation, and he even gave Kevin McCalliper McCallister from Home Alone a shout out.
Tumblr media
Yes. Even more Bears and Fish. So bear with me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Great Outdoors is about a family from Chicago that goes on a trip to a cabin and the mother's sister and her husband, who they don't really get along with, invite themselves on the trip. At the start of the movie the dad tells them all a scary story about a man eating bear that he saw through the window and shot at but is still on the loose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Bear also starts off with a man going face to face with a bear. The bulk of the movie is about the two families not getting along, but by the end of it, the mythological bear appears and chases them into their cabin and attacks them, but they end up scaring it away and then they all get along and things work out between them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first Bear attack after their prayer was with Mikey and Donna
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second Bear attack was with Carmy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But this time, they were actually victorious. Because of Sydney. She managed to get the Bear away from them so they could keep going.
Tumblr media
She is their miracle. Right before Sydney ever appeared there was a Virgin Mary figure. Sydney is always portrayed like Mary with light behind her, even with her hair always covered and in blue and white. Mikey is viewed as a Jesus like figure, he died so that they could all fix their sins and the restaurant. He is this ghostly figure whose memory is everywhere. Sydney and Mikey tied together, and she is the one that takes on his last words. Let it rip.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmy views Syd as a miracle, he could barely even look at her when he said it. Finding the money in the tomato cans was a miracle, it allowed her to come back and be with him. Her coming to work for him in the first place was a miracle, she came in at the perfect time when he needed her the most. Their Mother of Victory was not their mother at all, but Sydney.
