Summary:

The knock on Carlos’ door startles him from the thoughts that had consumed him since he had met his parents earlier that day. The hurt in TK’s eyes when he dropped him off at home, told him all he needed to know.
“Are we breaking up?” Carlos asked when the door opened to reveal TK, the same hurt in the beautiful green eyes that Carlos had grown so fond of.
The look in his eyes quickly changed to confusion “What?”
“I thought-” Carlos stepped aside for TK to walk in. Carlos stood with his hand stuffed into his pocket as he watched TK pace the distance of the living room.
“Carlos” TK’s voice was laced with so much anger, he had never seen TK like that before “you didn’t tell your parents I’m your boyfriend” TK slumped into a chair and looked up at Carlos “why?” tears glisted in his eye and Carlos had to fight everything in his being to not rush over to him and wrap TK in his arms.
“It’s complicated”
TK laughed drily “of course it is, I thought we” TK stopped himself and took a deep breath “I thought we were promised to work through this no matter what? Now you’re just shutting me. Do they not know that you’re gay? Have you decided that this isn’t going to last?”
“TK”
“I’m never enough am I?”
“TK” Carlos hadn’t meant to raise his voice but he needed to stop to stop TK from spiralling. “TK look at me” he gets down on his knees to look up to TK, his hands cupping his boyfriend's cheek “you are more than enough, you are so perfect” Carlos rest his forehead against TK’s “you’re so funny, and sassy and sexy, smart and you have the biggest heart”
“But?”
“There’s no but, Tyler Kennedy Strand” Carlos smile at the groan that escaped TK’s parted lips “you are so much more than enough, it scares me how well things with us were going, I didn’t want it to end”
“It didn’t have to”
“My family aren’t like yours”
“But they seem to love you alot” TK asked, slightly confused. That made Carlos laugh.
“No they love me alot, they’ve accepted who I am without any hesitation. They’re still traditional. They don’t do the meet the parents thing until marriage is on the table, it’s just a big deal. I know what happened with Alex, and I just didn’t want to scare you”
“You’re not ashamed of me?”
“Never”
“Carlos”
“Yes?”
“Get off the floor, your knees will hurt”
“Tyler?”
“Yes?”
“I love you” Carlos’ words were just a whisper against TK’s lips.
“Do you mean that?” TK asked, a bubble of hope blooming in his chest.
“The fear of losing you just reminded me how much I want you in my life”
“Carlos?”
“Yes, Tyler”
“I love you too”
