It’s National Boss’ Day, y’all and I think we should chat about it. The reality is Kyle and I are our own boss (and secretary and accountant and errand runner, and on and on and on 😂). Soo Mental Health Awareness is next month, but honestly... I don’t know what’s been in the air lately, but, I have been going throuuuuugh it! Anxiety and Depression are ruling. I have some amazing people in my life, and honestly, I’d be lost with out them. There are things that are out of my control. Xoxo, Sam👩🏻💻 Repost @elevated.therapy NAME: Consciousness Raising: A Group for Women of Color *************PLEASE READ EVERYTHING************ FOCUS: This eight-week, summer season of the group is a trauma-focused series of conscious conversations and healing sessions that explore the use of Narrative Therapy in processing trauma. Trauma refers to the Ancient Greek word trauma, which is the notion of “wound” or “damage.” Trauma is an experience that disturbs the individual’s sense of inhabiting the world in a safe, coherent, and meaningful manner. Trauma and pain can be considered as muscle memory. Like muscle memory where specific motor tasks can be consolidated into memory through repetition, specific emotional reactions from trauma and pain can be consolidated into memory if experienced once or repetitively. This type of emotional memory can be passed down through generations and if left unexplored, can lead to emotional issues and difficulties with forging positive relationships to the people around us. The effects of generational trauma endured by the oppressed are imprinted in our DNA.
