being brown is queer is hard because men for me feel so much like reality, and women or any other gender identity a fantasy. I've always been told to marry a man, so much I think that's what will happen. but being with a girl or another gender identity feels unreal like it's something unattainable. like no matter how much I try, ill never get it.

There is a certain kind of trauma and fear that only brown parents can give to a child and I will die on this hill.

Especially brown mothers. Brown fathers are (for a major part) very detached from their children's life. The "papa ki pari" stereotype is NOT real. There is only policing. Brown fathers treat their daughters like infants well into their adulthood. They absolutely hate seeing their daughters develop into mature adults with their own opinions and thoughts. To them, they must always stay the same happy child that does as they want them to. If this stereotype was as widespread as they claim it to be, daughters would not be getting "Honour" killed everyday. It would be the sons but it's not.

But back to Brown mothers.

Brown mothers create this hostile environment around their child where they are attacked for everything. If the child grows up, if it doesn't, if it eats something they don't like, if it says something they don't like. It is also generally more acceptable for mothers to hit their kids than for the father. Brown mothers love to make their kid a contestant in a reality show that haunts their every move. They treat their children like trophies for display. Daughters are especially traumatized because, as women, they tend to think that their mothers would at least listen to their struggles as girls but instead, mothers shut down any conversation about any struggles their child faces and wear this "victim facade" by weaponising their motherhood against their own child. If their child tells them to not yell about small issues that can simply be talked about, they burst into tears. Instead of acting like an adult and accepting that they made a bad decision in anger, they double down on the child and start guilt tripping them into thinking that they have wronged their caregiver by showing discomfort or displaying a human emotion.

I wish I could write something dramatic about the fear and the paranoia that Brown mothers instill in their children but it's too personal for me to get deep into it.
