“Your excitement was probably a factor in you being chosen, jeez…” Laxus commented on Monica’s enthusiasm, she was honestly a little too loud for his liking.

The next morning, Laxus realised Monica did not calm down any overnight, so focused his attention on Max. “You’re not having second thoughts, are you? Don’t forget, you’re also there to settle the score for your friend that lost,” he told him, talking about Kyle.

Soon it was time for the new Fairy Tail team to make their official appearance in the crowd, with Laxus walking out first for the rest to follow. “Let’s go, it’s time for Fairy Tail to make their comeback.”

“Oh Hell YES!!!” Monica yells in excitement. “Ka-gu-ra!” She intentionally over enunciated. Monica then linked her fingers together and gave a devilish smile the way a psychotic supervillain would while planning.

Meanwhile Max was visually panicking. “Ru-Rufus, I-I… hmm…” Last night, Max was calmed by the reminder of Mavis’ tactician legend and Laxus’ reassurance. This morning those two things see to be the only thing keeping his worry to just a panic attack. Max racked his brain for a plan to fight him.

“I can’t wait to see how she’ll react to Ama no Murakumo. She’s beaten me against all of my family’s swords, but we haven’t dueled since I put Ama no Murakumo together. I’m so excited.” Monica went on.

"Of course, no need to elaborate on that..." While Loke was pleased that he got with Lucy, he frowned at the reveal that she was with Natsu before, and he hurt her.

"Yeah, that does sound like me so..." It was unfortunate about the ultimatum, but it wasn't the first time he was willing to break the rules of the Celestial Spirit World. "I'm sorry you had to go through all that."

He could better understand Luca now, it made him more determined to inherit the will of his alternate self, and take care of this son of his. "Then, how did you get here exactly, the Eclipse Gate?" he asked, being the only method of time travel he knew about.

Luca nodded but stepped back a little.

“I might think you know how humans procreate, right?” He asked, looking a bit uncomfortable, “That happened between my parents from my world. It was Natsu-oji’s fault, from what I can gather. He broke up with her over something stupid and Hahaue was heartbroken sooo… yeah. That happened.”

Luca adjusted the sling and moved a little to just calm down a little.

“As soon as she told my chichiue that she was pregnant, he refused to go back to the Celestial world from the time she conceived to the time we were summoned back with the King giving an ultimatum. To put it bluntly, the choices where ‘I can’t exist as long as he was Leo’ or 'keep me outside of the Celestial world, but his key would completely shattered on the day I turned… I think three? Maybe four. I have some memories, but not a ton.”

Luca seemed a bit sad. It was one thing to talk about it with Lucy, but he’d made sure to avoid Loki as best he could for seven years…

Yet it was so easy to talk to Loki/Leo?

Yeah. It didn’t make any sense to Luca either.

// S Class Adventures [Sting & Mizumi] - Part 5

As the participants went deeper into the forest, they were faced with their worst fears, manifested from their thoughts and memories. This included another one of the trials’ participants, Toshiro Yurei, a wind mage who could transform into a white tiger.

He saw a version of himself, a mysterious bipedal white tiger beast. The worst case what if, if he could not control his instincts when transformed and attacked his friends, his version of the Dragon Slayer’s Dragon Force, but uncontrolled.

“I doubt there is another me in here or I have a twin, so this must be some magical illusion. I hope the others notice this quickly,” he commented before he braced himself at the white tiger beast pouncing on him with a growl. It was his guess, that this was an obstacle to split up the participants.

“In this first stage, they must conquer their fears. There are a lot of unknowns especially with S Class jobs, I want to make sure they’re mentally ready. If they can at least confront them, they’ll be on the right track to lead others too,” Sting explained to Rogue as he kept watch over the map of the trials. “Oh! Looks like some have already found the jewel’s location!”

As the water mage made his way through the forest, he couldn’t help but see something out of the corner of his eye. “Huh?” He turned, seeing nothing in sight. He was sure he was alone right now in that area. Aside from his peers being in the area. As he shrugged and turned to continue walking, he came face to face with a plant humanoid that looked strangely familiar. Almost like his older brother. “!!” With a surprised yelp, he quickly hopped back, flipping as he drew his lacrima edged blade. “You…! But… how!?”

Hiro jogged lightly along a beaten path before he saw movement and leaped up, dodging the jaws of a gigantic plant snake. “Gah…! Damn it! I hate snakes! Why did it have to be these assholes!?” He said as another one slithered up and tree near him as he dodged its strike and gave it a mean side swipe with flames on it. “Hragh!!”

Fumio stood in a tree that was remarkable tall before seeing a rather suspicious temple in the distance. “Hm… it seems that the temple down that way must be the target. I could go alone… but perhaps it’s time I end this childish game and find the others. Maybe Hitori is near-!” As he turned, the feeling of the air behind him changed directions as he followed his instincts. If he did not do that, the sharp stone blades of a humanoid arm would have kill him. As he swayed around a couple more attacks, he threw up and kick, which did not move the man. He had vines all over his body. Bark clinging to him like armor, and sharp edged stones coming out of his arms like jagged blades. It made the wind mage flinch in place before he almost dodged too late, the stone scraping his cheek before hopping back and bringing up his arms in a martial position. “Who are you?!”

Nobody had heard from Hitori after they split up. After the beasts came his way in the midst of the chaos, all anyone could hear was fighting going on, knocking over trees followed by roars mixing in pain and aggression before being silenced.

With the First’s reassurance, Laxus added to Max. “She is a master tactician, so we’re in good hands. The stakes are high, and that is more reason why. You were picked because we have faith in your abilities, you should believe that too. Think it through tonight, you won’t have that luxury tomorrow.”

The next morning the new team of Fairy Tail consisting of Max, Monica, Laxus, Gajeel & Juvia gathered for a final meeting before the final day of the games started. Max was to take over Gray’s role, and Monica with Erza’s.

“You all got that? We stick to the First’s plan right from the start, the rest is unknown territory with this free for all. But we’ve seen what the other mages are capable of, so adapt to your surroundings accordingly," he reminded the group, acting like the unofficial leader.

“Yes sir!” Monica exclaimed loud and enthusiastically. Monica started to walk off.

Max hesitated however. “Ar-Are you sure First Master?” He asked to her before leaving. “This isn’t just about the games anymore. This is like… life and death kind of stuff.”
