Scarefield brings us 11 “killer” tracks on their debut album, A Quiet Country; released March 25th, 2024. Fireblood – Hellalujah (2024)
Tumblr media
Tom Hanno of Tom's Reviews looks at Hellalujah, the new album from Charlotte, North Carolina based doom/sludge act FIREBLOOD, self-released on April 1st.
Fireblood may have dropped their first album on April Fools Day, but the songs that they’ve presented us with are no joke! So much so, that I can’t believe how many times I’ve listened to it since then, and the only thing that I can find wrong with it is that it’s only 4 songs.

Celestial Sword – Nocturnal Divinity (2024)
Tumblr media
James looks at Nocturnal Divinity, the new album from US raw black metal / dungeon synth artist Celestial Sword, released on March 1st on Death Prayer Records.
Celestial Sword know how to create black metal with an enthralling atmosphere, a skill showcased fully on their third full-length release Nocturnal Divinity. Here the band demonstrate their mastery of the marriage of raw vampiric black metal and dungeon synth. But what makes the album so special is the production and mastering. Everything sits on top of everything else in a way that feels suffocating as the instrumentals and vocals present as washed out, distorted and emerging from a sort of supernatural haze and yet, each element manages to shine through clearly.

Judas Priest – Invincible Shield (2024)
Tumblr media
Tom Hanno of Tom's Reviews looks at Invincible Shield, the powerful new album from UK heavy metal legends Judas Priest, released March 8th on Epic Records.
What do you think of first when you hear the name Judas Priest? My immediate thoughts are of leather and spikes, hard hitting riffs that have only gotten heavier with time, the vocals of the one and only Metal God, Rob Halford, and the pulverizing drum work of Scott Travis. I would also venture a guess that many of you thought the same, or at least something fairly similar. The good news for those of us that love their music is that these Birmingham based Heavy Metal Warriors have returned with yet another outstanding release on Invincible Shield, which is available now!!!!

Warcoe – A Place For Demons (2023)
Tumblr media
In this republication from Monster Riff, Patrick Schober looks at A Place For Demons, the new album by Italian stoner / doom / heavy metal act Warcoe, released December 15th on Regain Records.
Heavier than The Giant’s Dream, A Place for Demons shows Doom can be fun. Yes, A Place for Demons marches in the shadows of gloomy, towering riffs, but there’s an underlying and infectious charm in the music that’s simply irresistible.

Moor Mother- The Great Bailout (2024)
Tumblr media
Tony Le Calvez looks at The Great Bailout, the new album from Philadelphia based experimental industrial / hip hop / jazz / noise project Moor Mother, released March 8th on Anti Records.
“The Great Bailout,” is a horrifying, nightmare evoking album that addresses and criticizes the way the British Empire abolished slavery in 1833. Over the course of 45-minutes, Moor Mother delves into the subjects of reparations, the epidemic of amnesia in political institutions, and the erasure of atrocities in the collective consciousness.

Sahon – Blood Shall Be Paid (2024)
Tumblr media
This republication from Dovendyr - Heavy Metal Historian looks at Blood Shall Be Paid, the new album from South Korean thrash metal act SAHON, released March 8th on Brutal Records.
South Korea is the home of K-pop (which admittedly I have grown to like), but if you search enough, you can find heavy metal. A few years ago, I searched the Korean underground for metal, and found a few bands that I enjoyed. However, one band stood out the most – Sahon! Sahon is, without a doubt, my favorite metal band from South Korea! I really enjoyed the unbridled intensity of their fourth and fifth albums. And now, after 6 years, Sahon has released their sixth full-length album, “Blood Shall Be Paid”!

Cas Metah & J.Rawls – Criminal Blinded (2023)
Tumblr media
Tony Le Calvez looks at Criminal Blinded, the new collaborative album from Ohio underground hip hop artist Cas Metah and legendary producer J Rawls, released December 15th on PolarEntLLC.
Old school never dies, or at least, that’s how it feels listening to Cas Metah’s newest record, “Criminal Blinded.” The project never wears out its welcome and the chemistry between Hogle and J.Rawls style’s are undeniable. Both artists sound incredibly in-tune and immersed in hip-hop culture and their positive regard of old school makes this project come together like a perfectly molded set of grills. My biggest complaint about the record is just that there isn’t more of it.

Basque – Pain Without Hope Of Healing (2024)
Tumblr media
Scott Mclatchie looks at Pain Without Hope Of Healing, the new album from Canadian Emoviolence act Basque, released March 22nd on No Funeral Records, Fireflies Fall, Larry Records, SHOVE records, Tomb Tree, 3LA Records and Cremation Records.
The balance of noise, distortion from the vocals and guitars sit in an almost shoegaze mix within its floating and exploratory genre bending sound. Emotional, chaotic, dissonant, harsh yet somber in its delivery. A head full of thoughts and noise. Basque offer a refreshing development on the genre of Emoviolence and I look forward to hearing this live in its full intensity.
