and it’s NOT easy for dean and cas to love each other! it’s NOT! it’s not easy for dean to love anything, not when “the very touch of him corrupts” and he thinks he’s poison to everyone around him! and cas barely knows what love IS, he’s 400 million years old and he learned what feelings were in 2008! but they STILL LOVE EACH OTHER because it’s WORTH IT to them! it’s worth all of the pain and heartbreak and anger! it’s a choice worth making!

from dean’s perspective “i need you’ is bigger than “i love you”. love is complicated but it’s direct, he could love someone without having them in his life. but need? dean “mr. dependent, guarded walls up so high, emotionally unavailable” winchester needing someone? thats huge. to need means to give them control. to need means i cant do this without you. love comes easy to dean but to genuinely need something and be selfish enough to ask for it? that goes against everything he’s been conditioned into believing.

cant stop thinking. about how cas wins at being a man on supernatural and hes not even trying. cas head tilt voice what like its hard? its just SO compelling. to me. that dean has written down all the rules and goes through the rules every morning to make sure he’s following all the rules and then he gets his shit rocked by cas who’s like. what are those. why do men have to do those things. i dont think thats true i just kinda decided im a man one day and i do not do any of that. cas shows up with a gravel voice and dean drops 3 octaves in response. cas shows up to a town as agent beyonce and burns a guy’s eyes out. cas is like ok well enjoy your toxic masculinity i guess but i’m gonna go use my masculinity to be the best dad in the world to my little baby boy. maybe also use it to be homosexual. but your wall punching thing is good too

when you realize cas never got a chance to see dean mourn him. to see what his death did to dean. how it broke him completely. SHATTERED. he never saw dean's utter despair. anger. complete hopelessness. he only ever saw dean's joy when he came back. and so cas figured that his death simply didn't affect dean all that much. that dean could be happy with Cas gone. that Dean could go on. Move on. cas never understood that this joy, this hope, this smile on dean's face after he came back was ONLY BECAUSE HE CAME BACK. CAME BACK TO DEAN.

Cas was the REASON.
