Candice shrugged, âI donât want you to think Iâm turning down all your ideas because I really appreciate the advice, it just doesnât sound like something that would work. Iâve never been very good with having time on my hands.â
âYou donât want me to think it but you are.â Caspian pointed out with a bit of a laugh. âI mean, itâs whatever. Itâs advice for a reason. I can only advise you, I canât force you to make that choice at the end of the day. Seems to me you might be making more work for yourself just for the sake of it though whether or not you mean to.â

âOkay so admittedly I did think about bringing you back a tie or something from Paris,â Piper began, producing two boxes from her bag. âBut instead I thought Iâd get you this really nice French wine. Drink it alone or with a friend, but I thought youâd like it,â she smiled, handing over one of the two boxes to Caspian. âAnd then I thought about how nobody can resist French pastries so I also grabbed you an assortment,â she mentioned as she held out the other box. âThereâs a mini crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e in there that is absolutely to die for.â
@caspianberrycloth
âWhilst I didnât expect anything I am extremely flattered you even thought about me when you were in Paris, I would definitely say you made the right call. I feel like a tie would end up eaten by some of the creatures I work with and wine... well you canât go wrong with that. I might have to hide the pastries from Nesta though. For once I have the urge to be selfish.â He joked, moving forward to give the woman a hug. âBut thank you, truly. Itâs such a thoughtful gesture.â

caspian: You're not very nice to me.

nesta: Cas, dragons are more interesting than quidditch
nesta: although i gotta admit that any game would've been more fun with you next to me đ
caspian: I am glad you added that second text because I was going to question if they were more interesting than me.

Piper: Oh wow! I bet the Americans are kicking up a fuss đ and yes I realize I'm saying that despite being an American myself
Piper: I am, thanks. My best friend and I have been dreaming of going for ages and so far the city's really been living up to our expectations.
Piper: Although the French really don't like tourists, do they? đ
Caspian: I mean, they always are but yeah I think there are a lot of unhappy Americans today.
Caspian: I'm glad you got to fulfil one of your dreams. Doing it with your best friend is just the icing on the cake.
Caspian: Oh, is that so? đ

Piper: Hey Cas!
Piper: Or should I say bonjour? đđ
đŒ
Piper: Who won the cup? Are you at the afterparty?
Caspian: Yes, I went. Scotland won. Quite rightly.
Caspian: Both sides played well though. Enjoying your trip?

âIâm sure you were the one that said you needed a work out. Someone recommended this trail to me. Never again,â Seb replied, managing to catch his breath some more, âI am definitely not a runner.â
âI do need a work out. Otherwise all the crap I like eating will catch up with me. Youâre the one who really took it to heart though and jumped at the chance.â Caspian laughed jovially, watching the man. âI definitely prefer running over the gym.â

âIâm going to have to start carrying you around in my pocket boost morale, arenât I?â Piper joked after his compliment, appreciating him greatly. âConcerning?â she tilted her head to the side slightly until Caspian clarified. âAh, wellâ I think people should mind their own business. Why canât I have a friend like you who likes to visit me with no fine print? Iâm grateful for you every time you step through the door,â she insisted, not wanting him to think otherwise or feel weird about it. âIt is, isnât it?â Piper laughed at his reaction, rejoining him shortly after acquiring the napkins. âSo howâs work? The fantastic beasts arenât giving you too much trouble I hope?â she asked with a smile as she helped Caspian set out the treats heâd brought for the two of them on the coffee table.
âIâm sure youâve said that once or twice about me. It never gets any less flattering.â He stated with a chuckle on his lips. âYou do realise where we are though donât you? Keeping out of peoples business seems to be a particular difficulty around here, especially with the gossip witches around always brewing up more trouble.â Caspian confessed. Heâd seen so many people get hurt by that. âWork is doing well. I probably spend too much time in the water though hence why I make myself come out and be social with those of my own species once in a while.â

âWhen did you get so clever?â Celestina teased, sipping on her own coffee, âHow are you feeling today then?â She asked, referring to how his head was feeling after their adventure out on the town the night before.
âAlways been that way. I just occasionally enjoy winding you up and I know idiocy is probably one of the easiest ways to do that.â The grin he was wearing was wolfish and he chuckled at the question. âStrangely well rested. I think I just hit the deck when I got in and was spark out. What about you?â

âOh yeah that would be my irrational need to get people to like me working on you then,â she chuckled, half-joking because there was definitely truth to that. Piper had a habit of going out of her way to be friendly just to avoid ruffling any feathers. âNo, noâ itâll be fine,â Piper insisted with a wave of her hand. âYou probably pop in here more often than my best friend, but her job is incredibly demanding so I get it. Itâs nice though, seeing a friendly face throughout the day. I appreciate it,â she added, leading him towards the back where they could have a place to sit. âAlright if you insist,â Piper shook her head a little with another laugh. âIâm going to grab us some napkins just in case. Settle in anywhere youâd like here,â she gestured to the couches with a smile.
âIs it possible to dislike you? Because from what Iâve seen so far, Iâd say itâs not.â Caspian complimented, a smile on his lips. âOh? Well that sounds a little... concerning.â He admitted with a laugh. âBecause youâd expect that of a best friend or a significant other, neither of which I fall under.â And he didnât want to make things weird between them because he genuinely enjoyed her company. âYou know, this isnât too bad for an employee area...â

âStop, itâs just a coffee,â Celestina said, handing it to him with a pointed look on her face. However, the smile on her face was evident, âDonât tell anyone, I have a rep to protect.â
A chuckle left his lips and he took it off her, immediately taking a sip. Despite the scalding heat, he was grateful for it. âOh, I wouldnât dare. I mean, if I did, it might stop you from doing all these sweet things for me and then Iâd be much worse off now wouldnât I.â

âYou probably havenât. Though I am in here a lot over lunch breaks, banished to the back room for my lack of knowledge of top stitches,â she tried to joke. âErm, maybe ten minutes?â Merle replied, though his next comment caused her eyebrows to raise and she leaned further over the counter. âAnd who are you, mysterious man who is bringing my best friend a drink and a pastry, hm?â
âWell thatâs a shame, I suspect her coffee will be cold by the time she gets it or at least luke warm which is never enjoyable. If you drink the same thing youâre more than welcome to it.â Caspian offered. At least the pastries wouldnât be disappointing in that amount of time. âMe? The nameâs Caspian. Iâm a friend. She helped me out with creating a dress for my girlfriend at christmas.â He attempted to clear up, not wanting there to be any misunderstandings.

âWhat is this?â Caspian asked, pleasant surprise on his face as he smiled at the woman in front of him. âYou know, people might accuse you of becoming soft if you keep this up Shacklebolt.â He spoke warmly.

âOh pleaseâ you are much too sweet for your own good,â Piper insisted with a laugh, although she appreciated his words. It was nice to know she made a new and honest friend during her time here, especially when things felt so hopeless most of the time. âMaybe itâs my boss you should be bringing gifts to instead of me,â she teased, ushering him further into the store. âCan I help carry anything?â Piper offered, holding out her arms to take anything off of Caspianâs hands.
âBut I canât imagine your boss being half as endearing as you are.â Caspian answered with a little chuckle as he complimented the girl playfully. âBut seriously, am I going to cause problems with your boss by popping in occasionally?â He asked, shaking his head when Piper offered to carry something. âIâm good, really. Iâve made it from the cafĂ© to here so I think a little further isnât going to do me any harm.â

âThere is absolutely no way I am doing that again,â Seb replied, collapsing in a heap on the grass. He spoke as if he were out of breath, because he was, and tried his best to catch it, âListen, I consider myself to be in good shape but that was just⊠excruciating. How do people work out like that every day?â
âIâm sure youâre the one who invited me out and not the other way around.â Caspian laughed at the exhausted heap that Sebastian had formed on the ground. âI suppose itâs enjoyable to some people. I know it gets their adrenaline pumping. Iâve never really been the type to love it but I like that it makes me feel accomplished afterwards.â

âThank you, Caspian. I hope I donât blow up your phone too much that you start to regret that offer,â she laughed. âOkayâ Iâll quit it. But I do think what you have is special,â Piper shrugged, but deciding not to pry further since Caspian didnât seem to enjoy her bringing it up so often. âThanks again for coming to see me. And bringing so many gifts! My breakâs on in five, want to share these pastries together?â
âYou wonât. I doubt you could bother me even if you tried, Piper.â Caspian attempted to assure the woman, not wanting her to feel as though she had to hold back on the contact if she needed him. âWhat can I say though, if Iâm going to get away with demanding your company so often when you are at work, I feel like itâs a necessity to bring things to barter with.â He joked lightly.
