I'll Be Seeing You Pt. 1
Druig x Eternal!Reader
Inspired by “I’ll be Seeing You” by Billie Holiday.
After 2000 years, Druig thinks the spark of love between you two is gone. He’s surprised that when he sees you to find out he’s dead wrong.
Like Sprite, Reader also is a storyteller but she has the gift of music. Her songs are what brings music to the world and Druig loves that shit.
Sorry if the timline is off, im still working on it
Reader uses she/her pronouns
Tags: Pining, longing, flirty Druig.
Part Two Part Three Part Four
Druig stared into the crowd of Babylonians, observing their actions as they enjoyed their evening. His fellow Eternals were stationed throughout the small area, interacting with the locals, and relaxing for once. Druig stood alone under the colorful flags and tapestries, Makkari not far away. He always felt the need to keep an eye on her, but he knew she could take care of herself. Most people thought he and the light-footed Eternal were an item, but they would always casually wave people off. Their relationship was based in friendship and that was that. No, Druig’s heart belonged to another. The most beautiful being to ever grace this planet.
“Druig…Druig? You in there?” You waved your hand in front of his face, a teasing smile gracing your lips.
“I’m sorry, m’lady. Must have been lost in my own thoughts.” He felt a blush creep across his face.
“Thinking of someone special, are we?” You giggled, wiggling your brows as the taller man.
“Maybe,” he paused, nudging your shoulder. “Jealous?” A hint of a flirtatious grin playing on his pale features. You ignored the butterflies swirling in your stomach, pushing his shoulder back with yours.
“Me? Jealous? No way!” You gave an exaggerated eye roll, earning a light laugh from Druig. Gods, you loved the way his laugh sounded. It wasn’t often that he would let his emotions show, his usually stoic presence being something you had grown to love about him. Truth be told, you might have a slight crush on your fellow Eternal but that wasn’t something you could even imagine telling anyone, not even Sersi and she was your closest friend. She and Ikarus were the ones in love. You didn’t want to throw another relationship into the group.
“You don’t have to lie, Y/N, I know you’re secretly in love with me.” Druig grinned smugly, turning to face you fully.
“In your dreams, loverboy.” You laughed coyly, trying to hide your own blush from blooming across your cheeks.
“Whatever you say.” Druig shrugged, grabbing a pear off the table beside where you stood and taking a bite. You had to stop letting him get to you like this.
This dance had been going on for centuries. You two flirted like your lives depending on it, letting it play out like a game. It had become a dance of sorts between the two of you. Both of you were just too stubborn to admit the truth but you sort of liked it this way. It was invigorating, getting to come to one another with flirtatious teasing and lingering touches here and there. It had become your favorite way to pass time on this planet. Maybe one day you would find the courage to speak up but until then you just played the game.
“What are you two lovebirds talking about?” Makkari signed as she approached you.
“I was just telling Y/N here how I know she is in love with me which of course she denied but we all know the truth.”Druig signed back, a cocky grin on his face.
You shot him a faux dirty look, a smile playing on your lips.
“I see,” Makkari signed back with a smile.
“Both of you are ridiculous.” You waved them both off. “Besides, even if I was…”
“Y/N! It’s your turn! Everyone is waiting for you.” Kingo yelled from the other side of the small gathering.
Thank Arishem for Kingo.
“Sorry guys, looks like its my time to shine.” You shrugged, shooting a wink in Makkari’s direction. Taking your place beside Sprite, you got yourself ready for your moment.
“When are you going to tell her?” Makkari signed, poking Druig in his side.
“Never. She’s not interested in me. I just like to give her a hard time is all.” He shrugged, turning to watch you as you made your way to the center of the small crowd. He wanted to tell you so badly how he felt. How he longed to feel your touch, to hold your hand. To trail kisses down your body and make you truly understand the intense love he felt every time he looked into your eyes. You would never feel the same for him. If he knew anything, he knew you deserved someone much better than him.
“I have something that might change your mind.” Makkari signed, pulling an intricately decorated box from her small sling bag.
“What’s this?” Druig asked, taking it from the speedster with a slightly shaking hand. Opening the box, he was pleasantly surprised by what he saw. A beautiful ring of ornate silver was placed ever so delicately inside the box. The red stone inlayed in the center shown brightly in the dancing firelight.
“Tomorrow we’ve been here 1000 years. You should give it to her.” Makkari signed, a smly smile gracing her face.
“Yeah, and tell her what? Propose marriage?” Druig snapped the box closed.
“It’s just a suggestion.” Makkari signed, crossing her arms.
“Makkari, you know I cant –“ but his thought was cut off. There, in the middle of the group of awaiting Babylonians, came the most beautiful noise he had ever heard. You had begun to sing. This was his favorite part of evenings like this. Even if Sprite has the gift of illusions, you had a much more amazing one. Your voice was angelic, sweeping over every surface and burrowing down into Druigs’ heart. This song, one of his favorites, was one of forgotten love. The beginning was melancholic, nostalgic even. But once the chorus picked up it was a story of lovers finding one another again. The onlookers watched with rapped attention, some even crying at the beautiful serenade. Druig had to center himself to keep from shedding a tear himself. The way your body glowed with energy, enrapturing all around you was more than he could stand. At the same time, he couldn’t take his eyes off you. Your line of sight caught his as the song ended and you sent him a soft smile. He smiled back, trying to hide the longing behind his eyes. He knew Makkari was right. It was time.
“I’ll take the ring.” He said, not taking his eyes off you.
“I thought so.” Makkari signed, slipping the box back into his hands.

MASTERLIST || PART TWO
Tumblr media
From the first day of the month of November until the last day of the month of February of the following year you had religiously found yourself away from the Compound, an agreement that no mission or extracurricular activities was to be made during those four months. No amount of danger or impending doom could bring you back to help them during those four months. You were under the radar, without anyone knowing your whereabouts nor were they aware of who you were spending those long months with.
In the eyes of the people you called a team, it was a weird condition, somewhat selfish choice for you to make. But you knew better, knowing that being part of said team saving the world on a day-to-day basis and being away from your own family was more selfish—especially for your husband of few good centuries living in this earth. It was selfish for you to make a choice with your husband and leaving him behind when you bit more than you choice chew, disobeying the one thing your family had told you not to do. You interfered.
You were an Eternal, who was sent to Earth to eradicated the Deviants—in your mission, you were ordered never to interfere with their wars nor their advancements, but you couldn’t stop yourself. It was always in your heart to interfere even knowing openly the consequence that could come to you one day. It tore your family apart centuries ago, choosing to stay with your husband as they had stopped the both of you from interfering with the impending but senseless wars. It broke your heart having to leave them behind, to see Sprite and Sersi beg you to stay, to not follow your husband with his choice. The pain of having to let Ajak free each and every single one of you into the world—the catalyst of the impending change in the only thing you had known as your family.
But the life you had created with your husband wasn’t perfect, it was far from it. The home you had created for yourself was far from the advancement with the rest of the world. Generations upon generations you had seen the people in the small commune stay stagnant, content with the life that they already have in the moment. Of just the two of you in this community, watching the people grow, reproduce, and pass before the cycle once again repeats.
But it was never for you. Your husband has known as much and had come to terms that you would want to explore the world and all of its advancement along the way. So he had allowed you to go, to explore the world for as long as you had promised him to you would come back, which you did. Decades of such a set up and the two of you found your middle ground.
You had never broken your promise, always and forever kept your promise of coming back to him. Whatever it takes.
It was in your exploration that you’ve met Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, created an identity away from what you were created to be. A human with extraordinary skills. Someone that had helped them in whatever capacity they would need from you. You had created a family in them, away from what you had lost in the past.
It was the perfect set up and your husband had accepted it, for as long as you do come back to him, nothing else truly matter to him.
It was a setup you never thought would become a constant to you, instead of the explorations you’ve done in the past. Four months out of the year away from the team and the eight was fully dedicated to any missions they would throw at you, your team believing it was the only time out of the year that you could be with your family. The holidays were religiously for them (notwithstanding the fact that neither you nor your husband really celebrate anything), no amount of bribing or teasing from the team could convince you to break your four month breaks. It was a promise you were not willing to break even if the world was crumbling.
But then a mission happens, you were Superhuman, but you were not truly invincible. In the act of saving Natasha Romanoff, you found yourself falling thousands of feet down the cliff. Everything somehow moved in slow motion, Nat tried reaching for your hand but she was just a second too late and your back and head were met with the jagged rock-filled ground.
The impact shook you, and the sounds of their scream could never compare to the sudden numbness in your mind. The voices in the back of your head, every voice fearing for your well-being and the promise you had with your husband finally being broken.
What if you couldn’t come back to him in your state? The last thing you would ever want is to scare him or to worry him.
“Druig.”
It was a silent plea for him as the pain now resonated through your entire body, what you didn’t realize was even in the distance you shared with your husband, he heard you.
~
“How’s she doing?” Tony has inquired, shaken still after seeing your lifeless body down the cliff. Nat was sitting beside the bed you laid, uncertain if the spy had left you throughout.
“Still hasn’t woken up since what happened.” Nat’s voice portrayed the same expression she showed—worry and guilt.
It’s been three days since the mission, three long grueling days since your operation, three long and painful days since you had sacrificed yourself for Nat who had been the most doubtful of your arrival in the team. How it took years for you to soften her up in your presence, of how you simply wanted a family in them. Every single member of the team had also learn this part of you, and the worry that had now come as it was the second day of November and you were still unconscious.
In the silence of the medical ward, the prominent beeping had irked the two members and the gravity of what had happened to you meant. The things that now changed since the incident. It scared them, how you could so easily give your life away if the chance ever presents itself to you. To the family you’ve made here.
“Have you tried contacting any of her family?” Tony inquired again, unsettled by the number of bandages in your body. Dr. Cho had done her best to keep you stable for the most part—only time could tell when you would wake up and begin the healing process.
Nat shook her head. How could she even begin making necessary contact when you never disclosed anything about your life away from the compound. No mother, no father, no husband or wife, no children. Your record was clean for them to start making the necessary contact.
Silence was the only thing Nat could give. Her hand now coming to hold onto your own, even in your sleeping state, held onto her hand tighter—your little way of reassurance. The constant protector—the reassurance, the peace in the constant chaos of what the team could be if not mandated. Even as the questioned they were yet to find any answers to, it was a problem for another day. Even after all the years of knowing you, there were still things they were yet to know.
“I should have been the one that’s falling—not her.”
“You can’t continually blame yourself for this. She wouldn’t want you to.”
“Tony—”
Before Nat could continue on with her own protest, FRIDAY’s disembodied voice took the both of them by surprise.
“Boss, we have a couple of people waiting in reception looking for Y/N.”
Tony and Nat had shared a look now.
“Who?” Tony inquired his AI, opening up a hologram of the two individuals.
“Y/N’s husband and mother.”
~
“I should throw you off a cliff.” Druig was known to be quiet and somewhat broody as you would often tease him to be—but this time, seeing your unconscious body, he was being resentful.
“Druig.” Ajak was the only one keeping him at bay. Keeping him from doing something he knew you wouldn’t approve of. It was a good thing he had sought Ajak before making his way here in New York, he knew perfectly well it would be a much messier scene if she wasn’t here.
Sitting on the chair besides the bed you laid in, his hand held onto your own cold ones.
“Once she’s regained consciousness, we can have our doctors have another look at her before she can finally leave the medical bay.” The man Druig had learned to be Tony Stark had explained, but his attention was solely focused on the woman that was responsible for your predicament.
“I know you’re upset…” The woman began.
“Upset?!” His voice rose and he tensed at how even in your unconscious state, calmed him down as your hand tightened around his own. “What I am feeling is past being upset. I am angry at what my wife has to do for you humans.”
“No one wanted this to happen, you need to calm down, Buddy.”
“My wife wanted this to happen, to constantly risk her life for you, for the people that know nothing but pain and destruction. Of war and death. She wants to change the world but it is beyond saving more so when the world needs to depend on people like you. Centuries have passed but it is always the same and the only way that she would ever stop if she is dead.”
“Druig, please.” Ajak had now held onto Druig’s free hand. “This is not what Y/N would want you to say.”
Druig bit his lips, but it was the truth that he will never have the heart to have you face. His love for you outweighs the constant worry and fear he has for your safety.
“Just help her.” Druig pulled away from Ajak’s hold, his free hand coming to cup your cheeks. His mind was filled with the memories the two of you shared in your home.
Druig focused his attention on you. Ajak had now started using her powers to help in your healing process. A smile lingering on his face as the warmth was slowly returning to your palms. The power slowly surging back against your fingertips and the familiar color returned back to your features.
Before long, you were slowly swimming back into consciousness and the smile of relief finally rested on Druig’s lips as soon as your eyes had opened and it was his eyes that you first see as you woke up.
“Druig?”
It was adorable to see the confusion in your eyes, the familiar crinkle of your nose as you try your best to comprehend everything that was going on in the moment.
“I came all the way to New York, worried sick when you didn’t come home like you promised…” He trailed off, but the fear of the possibility of you seriously getting hurt overcame him. “Don’t ever make me so worried like that again, My Persephone.”
The smile on your face at the nickname brought the worries to rest for now. How fitting it was for the situation you both shared. A portion of your time was with him, in your own little underworld, and the rest was here, as far away from him as possible. You were the Persephone to his Hades, and it was the most beautiful tragedy known to man. He had taken you away, to his own kingdom away from the only family you had ever known, only to have you leave for a fraction of the year for the sake of your own happiness.
“We’ve been together for centuries, My Love.” You teased, hands finally having the strength to let go of his own. Gently, Druig savored the way that your hands hand now found their way to his cheeks. It was the littlest of touch that meant the most to him, even to this very moment. “I thought by now you’d get sick of me.” You continued rubbing circles against his cheek bones.
“Never.” He pulled back, lips twitching as he fought for the smile to not grow any bigger on his face. He still had a reputation to uphold. “When it comes to you, a century is not enough. As long as I can have you, I cherish it.”
“Even if I break my promise?” You inquired.
“Even when you break my heart over and over when you leave.” He whispered finally leaning down to kiss your forehead and eventually your lips—it was a gentle kiss, the first in months now.
He miss this, missed the feeling of your soft lips against his own dry and chapped ones. How with just a small fraction of a moment, he was finally brought back to life again. This was the power you held over him and you and only you could possibly have over him.
At the sound of throat clearing, he finally pulled away and the small gasp that escape that lingered on your lips made Druig well aware that you had not noticed the two familiar individual aside from Ajak that was also in the room.
“I would have said get a room, but you’re already in one.” Tony Stark has spoken, the gears in his head were turning—that much Druig could see through his mind. It was whole different thing when it comes to the woman besides him. It was chaos of the truth and the pieces finally coming together.
“Thank you for caring for our Y/N.” Ajak had finally intervened knowing neither you nor Druig had any plan of breaking the silence.
“Who really are you, Y/N?” And there it was, against the lips of the woman that had been the sole reason for what his wife was in the bed, in the brink of death only moments ago.
“It’s no one’s business but our own.” Druig’s terse response was almost a given when it comes to him, no one was immune to it except you. It was always like this with him and with new people—especially when said people are the reason for you being in this predicament to begin with. “Stay out of our business, Widow.”
~
“Druig.” You called hoping to stop anything from happening between the two. It still amazed you how your husband could be an imposing figure without even using his powers, only the coldness of his blue eyes could make anyone fold, even one of the deadliest assassins known to man.
“Just stating facts, My Persephone.” He finally turns his back at Nat, conflicted with how your husband was acting. “I placed my trust on this people to keep you safe but here you are laying on a hospital bed. Now they have the audacity to act suspicious over you of the thing in your life they know nothing about.”
You closed your eyes, so there was a reason why he was here. More than to take you back home, he was trying to make a point.
“Druig, please. Not here.”
“Then where? When you’re out there saving the lives of Humans that will one day turn their back on you if they don’t get what they want?”
“I think it’s time we settle this.” It was Ajak’s voice of authority that finally cut Druig from his upcoming tirade. “It is only fitting for you to do, Y/N.”
Turning your focus on Ajak, the look of reassurance was all you needed to see before every worry finally melted away from you. Away from your mind and all you could do was nod and hold onto Druig a little bit tighter, hoping that this would not ruin anything that you had built with the Avengers.
Full patched up thanks to Ajak, every single member of the Avengers had made their way to the meeting room, with you, Druig, and Ajak following closely behind. It was then that everyone noticed how you practically glued yourself to your husband—an individual no one would have ever thought you would have in your secretive life.
“It’s been so long since I’ve last seen you both, Thor Odinson and Loki Odinson.” Ajak greeted offhandedly upon seeing the two Asgardians also in attendance much to their shock and confusion at the sight of her.
Sitting beside your husband, you had watched Ajak begin to tell the team about their mission all those centuries ago. Of who you three were. Eternals. Of the sole reason you had been placed in this planet and how your purpose since it’s completion was to create a life for yourselves without interfering with the world.
It was a weird sight to see, the confusion in their faces before realization and shock came to replace it. Of course, they were made aware of your lack of help for Thanos’ action in the past, they were made aware of what you and your family had to do to stop the emergence from happening after what they had to do to recover what they had lost in the snap.
It was no longer a surprise for you when a few of the team you had made for yourself looked at you differently now. How some had stood up from their chair in the meeting room and walked away. It was to no one’s surprise that the trust they once again for you was no longer there.
“Let’s go home.” You begged now, stopping Ajak from further explaining your history with the rest of the Eternals.
It was when even Steve, the man you had been the closest with in the team had stood without another word and left that you realize that this was the final nail to the coffin and you cannot see yourself being part of the team anymore. There was no more trust and you’ve come to peace with that.
“Y/N—”
“Enough!” Druig spat turning his attention to Ajak now. “I am taking my wife home.” Druid stood with his hand held up for you to take.
You turned your gaze back to the people that remained still. Nat, Tony, Thor, Loki, Sam to name a few. There was hurt in their eyes that met your own. It would take a while for you to even look at them again like this, maybe never even, and you want to go home and think of what you could do for now if this was what you truly want for your life.
Coming to hold your husband’s hand, with the familiar spark at your connection you teleported the both of you back to your home. Deep in the heart of the Amazon Forest. There was a consequence you know perfectly well you needed to face when you come back but it was better than allowing the confrontation to come so early in everyone finally knowing the truth.
In the comfort of your shared bed, you took a deep breath before finding yourself sobbing against his chest as everything you had worked so hard for as part of the Avengers has now come crumbling away.
“I had to do it—Y/N.” Druig whispered, arms coming to wrap around your healing body. “I am yours, my Persephone. And I will do everything I can to keep you safe—even from the very people you always choose to protect.”
“I know.” You whispered, voice breaking in the process. “That’s what makes it more painful.”
~
In the silence of your bedroom, your focus had been on your surroundings.
The sound of crickets from the outside, the light platter of the rain against the roof of your home, the gentle and even line of breath of your husband that wasn’t asleep just as much as you weren’t. But in your shared silence, what stood out the most was your hearts, always beating in sync whenever you were together. One body, split into two, as your family had often spoke. He was your peace as you were his chaos. One cannot truly function without the other.
Craning your neck to look at him, he was look right back at you as you were still splayed naked on top of him. His gaze solely focused on you, hands resting against your naked waist, and his thumbs drawing circles against your skin.
This was the very thing that you missed the most out of him, of being home in his arms. It was this silence, the peace of not having to worry about the world for once. The only concern you had was your husband, nothing more and nothing less. It was this, the bliss of being in his arms, the warmth and constant comfort only he could give you.
“It shouldn’t be like this, not anymore at least.” He spoke in the hours of silence you had both shared.
“I can’t leave them like this.” You whispered. “I can’t disappoint them more than I’ve already did.”
“What about me?”
You closed your eyes, realizing that there would come a day that Druig would become selfish but what made it different now when you could simply stay back home longer was this time, you couldn’t. Not with the responsibility that now rested on your shoulders. Of the constant hope they had for you even with the doubt that came with your life, of your history, and of the things you still had no way of controlling.
“Please my love, anything else.”
“A child.”
At the words, you looked at him, the fear of what he was asking you. You wanted a child for so long, but Druig wanted his peace—a child would ruin that. The unspoken words of hesitation on his end, the one reason you really couldn’t stay here for long. It was the loneliness, the choices of having to stay with Druig alone in the heart of the Amazon, instead of being with your family.
A child that was all you ever wanted, to compensate the family that you have lost with the choice you had made with Druig. But he couldn’t give it to you, so he asked for something else, you chose to explore the world instead. Now he was using it against you.
“Don’t do this to me, My Love.”
“I want to keep you safe, at whatever expense I might need to endure. If a child is what you truly want, let’s have one. Arishem had given us the blessing if we wanted one.”
Bated breath, it was all you could have ever hoped for yourself and for Druig and now, as much as it was finally in your grasp it scared you to make it into a reality.
“What of your peace?”
“Centuries, and still you never understood where I get my peace, My Persephone.” He chuckled hands resting to cup your cheeks. “It is you. My peace in this Earth is you. Away from harms’ way and in my arms alone.”
“We can’t have this if I’m the only one that wants this. You can’t use the child to make me stay.”
“I always wanted this.” His hands now coming to rest onto the smalls of your back. “When I am alone, I see the people here, children of their own running around, it makes me think of you. Of how beautiful it would to see you caring and loving our own child soon. To see him have your eyes, beautiful just like his mother.”
“Him?” You smiled, amused that he would want his first-born to be a boy.
“Another one to help me in protecting you.”
“I will get hurt, we are Eternals, but can still get hurt. You have seen me bleed just as much as I saw you do so. But it is what makes as closer to being humans.”
As he closes his eyes, the deep breath you know very well where it would lead to.
“But we are not humans.”
“I know. I’ve made peace with such fact.”
“Why didn’t you tell them about us, about what you truly are?” He inquired. “Of our mission? Of the things we could have stopped but was ordered not to?”
You closed your eyes, of course you knew first hand. The snap had done so much damage to not only you and Druig but for each and every single member of the team. Of the things they had lost and of the life that shifted for everyone else. You could have helped in stopping the Mad Titan, but chose not to because you knew the repercussion it would have for not only you but for Druig if the time were to come.
You knew and turned a blind eye on it, for the greater good. Choosing to let them find a way all on their own instead of giving them the right answer. You could not interfere as much as you had already broken so much rules as it was.
“I did not have the heart to tell them.”
“Stay here with me instead. Let’s make everything we had always dream of into a reality.”
Opening your eyes, you come to stare right back into Druig’s own eyes. The pleading in his eyes that you knew you could never say no to—even for this moment.
“Okay.” You relent, lips coming to meet his own. “I promise.”

Hello! could I request a Druig imagine where he and the reader (an eternal with water powers) confess but then the whole group splits up and she didn't go with him and went off to be a teacher or something like that but then the snap and she went to find him because he was what she needed? (with a fluffy ending please) I love your writing! (I hope this makes sense)
A/n: this imagine has proven me physically incapable of restraint in my word count soooo apologies if its too long!! Also, full disclosure, i have only seen the movie once and although the general gist of the plot is accurate (hopefully) in this work, i know that the scene - particularly the Eternals breakup at Tenochtitlan - is not word for word accurate, but i tried my best & claim creative license for the rest. Hope you love it!!! Not gonna lie, i am vibing with Adva as an Eternal, so netflix if you’re reading this, gimme a call and we can do a spinoff tv show or whatever (uhm, rooney mara for Adva, anyone???)
The Power of Water - 1/4
Matchup: Druig (Eternals) x Fem!Eternals Reader w/ water powers (name Adva, Hebrew for small wave)

Warnings: violence, (mild) implied sex, Eternals spoilers
Chapter I: Tenochtitlan, 1521 BC

Adva sat in the moonlight on the edge of the river, letting the water rush over her submerged feet as she listened to the stories it had to tell. It was quiet to human ears - nothing but the soft sound of running water and the occasional sound of laughter drifting from the village in the distance. But Adva had felt a threat growing in the waters for the past few days. It had started several months ago, by the ocean, but it had been no more than whispers of a faceless threat. Recently, the threat had drawn closer and was beginning to take form. There were faces now - men’s faces, human men, clad in armor, with banners of amber and scarlet behind them. Weapons, too, ones that Adva hadn’t encountered previously in human conflicts; weapons that used fire and metal to kill from a distance.
Adva focused intently on the fractured images she could discern from the water. Luminous, golden waves covered her forearms and swirled around her wrists as she used her powers to pull the water’s stories into her mind. Her eyes were closed, but she was far from relaxed, her brow knitted in concern, splinters of fear working their way into her heart as more images flashed by.
The sound of a snapping twig somewhere in the forest behind her right shoulder interrupted her reverie. She wasn’t alone.
“Druig, no one likes a spy,” she called quietly from the riverbank.
Druig stepped out of the darkness of the underbrush, soaking in the sight of Adva bathed in moonlight from above, golden light from her powers as they radiated around her arms. Even after all these thousand years, she still caused his heart to skip a beat.
Adva opened her eyes, letting the water recede away from her and her powers dissolve into the night, as she stood to turn towards her fellow Eternal. He hesitated on the edge of the forest, unsure if she was inviting him forward or asking him to turn back.
Noticing his faltering step, Adva reached out a hand towards him. “Come here,” she encouraged, casting him a playful smile.
It had been nearly seven thousand years since Adva, Druig, and the rest of the Eternals had found their way to Earth. At first, the planet had been awash with calamity at nearly every turn. Deviants had run rampant for the first three thousand odd years, requiring near constant vigilance and battles from the Eternals to keep the fragile human race from collapsing into extinction. As the frequency and intensity of battles with Deviants had subsided, humanity had begun to hit its stride, which presented its own set of unique challenges as the Eternals sought to gently mold, encourage, and shape the future of Earth’s inhabitants.
Recently, however, humans had begun to shear away from the Eternals’ sculpting influence. Ajack had become increasingly forceful in her instructions not to interfere. Generally, the Eternals took little issue with stepping back; after all, they had earned rest after millenia of fighting. At first, Adva had relished the opportunity to explore the natural beauties of the Earth, places human eyes wouldn’t see for generations to come. But, as the frenzy of battles had worn off, Adva felt a tension growing in her fellowship, and in herself.
She knew Druig felt it too. Of all the Eternals, Druig had the most intimate connections to humanity by virtue of his powers. Stepping into their minds - or not stepping in, at times - came with a unique burden that he alone carried. The more time Adva spent with him, the more she saw this burden. And the more she worried for him. She couldn’t put it into words that suited her, but Adva felt a growing need to be close to Druig, to protect him. In the quietest corners of her heart, Adva already knew that she was in love with him, and likely had been from the very beginning. But living countless millennia - not even counting the ones that Adva couldn’t remember, the ones whose memories had been removed by Arishem after previous Emergences - had made Adva perplexingly out of touch with her heart's needs and wants.
Druig smiled, taking her hand in his as he joined her on the river bank, looking out across the water as the moon’s reflection danced across its surface. In the distance, Druig could hear snippets of the song that had broken out amongst the villagers. Tenochtitlan was in the midst of a Rain Festival, and there was an ebullient mood amongst the humans.
“What does it say?” he asked Adva, gesturing to the water. He sidled closer to her as she turned her back to him to look at the river. Her expression grew pensieve.
“I’m not sure…” she started, her lips tightening in worry. “Something’s coming… it’s not good. Other people, humans. They’ve got weapons I’ve never seen before…” Adva’s voice trailed off as she thought back to the images of the warriors she’d seen in the water. Druig remained silent next to her, both out of reverence for her thoughts but also because he was struck speechless by the image of the moon’s reflection dancing in her blue eyes. He took a silent inhale, breathing in her scent, which was a mixture of summer rain, fresh cotton, and a hint of citrus. As much as the words Adva spoke foretold of a coming threat, Druig found he couldn’t bring himself to focus on anything but her at the moment.
He let his breath out slowly, resolving to tell her of the feelings he’d been holding onto for the past thousand years. His heart sped up as he brought the words to his tongue.
“Adva,” he started, brushing her hair off her shoulder. She turned to him, the shadow of fear in her eyes not quite gone but slowly vanishing as she looked up at him. He noticed that she seemed to lean closer to him, her chin angled slightly upward as she held his eye contact. “There’s something that needs to be said…” Druig swallowed thickly, willing himself to keep focused in spite of the intense urge to close the distance between their lips.
“Yes?” Adva asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She certainly wasn’t making this easy on him.
Despite his best intentions, Druig found his mind giving itself over to his instincts. Instead of delivering the recited words he’d dwelled over since last winter, he found his hands coming to cradle her face, one sliding down her elegant neck as he pressed his lips to hers. For an agonizing moment, Adva remained frozen under his touch, and he felt certain that she’d recoil from him. But in the next instant, he felt her step into his embrace, pressing her body up the length of his, one of her hands entwining into the hair at the base of his neck, the other trailing lazy circles on the skin of his bicep, sending shivers all over his body. Their lips moved in unison, a shared sigh of relief to realize that the feelings each had were mutual.
After what felt both like an eternity in the making and not nearly long enough, they separated. All traces of anxiousness had left Adva, her face open in a grin as she giggled. Druig let his forehead connect with hers, joining her in laughter.
“What was it you wanted to say again?” she teased, breathless, causing Druig to laugh more.
“Can’t seem to think of it now,” he retorted, letting his hands fall to her waist as she leaned against him. The same moonlight glinted off the same river next to them, but it felt like a completely different world that they’d stepped into.
With a mischievous smirk, Adva looked up at Druig, hoping he could read her thoughts through her eyes. “Well, in that case, if you’re done talking, why don’t we find some other way to pass the time…”
Druig’s skin felt kissed by flames at the suggestion, an impatient coil starting to form deep in his gut, and an equally impish grin danced across his handsome features.
“Now that’s an idea…”

Shadows of the sun (prologue)
“Can you tell us the story of the twins again?” the gleeful children surrounded the younger looking Eternal
“Yes yes, the twins!”
Conjuring up golden projectiles, Sprite showcased two figures in the air. A female and a male alike in several ways. They are seen battling the deviants as they are working in coordination with each other. They float as if they were a God and a Goddess roaming the Earth with their feet never touching the ground.
“This is the story of Ikaris and Ikaria. One who flew close to the sun and the one who stayed in the shadows of the sun”
Kingo smiled as he reminisces the stories that Sprite would tell. But for him, there was another character that she was missing out in the story. A crucial character that forever diverged the path of the twins. The broody male that seems to hate the sun but brought the girl out of its shadows.

masterlist
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
Occasionally, he lets himself slip back into the bigger picture.
When he does, it's frightening. He'd grown accustomed to the society he had created, the one with completely different standards and restrictions. There were no rumbling trains passing by his bedroom window, no filtered voices through a radio, no clanking from the streets down below.
In this tangled jungle, there were no streets, no trains, no radios, and much to his dismay, no you.
This was the life he had chosen. He was proud of the people he'd raised, the community he'd grown. Over the centuries, he's watched the human race continue their wars. He'd heard of the enslavement of some, the massacres of others. He was grateful for the safety he was able to give for his people.
Druig didn't view himself as a God, but he certainly was in power. He'd experienced everything there was to human life - from birth (he'd even helped with a few) to death - and had grown admirable of it. He was appreciative for the flawed ways of humans.
However, there was always something that stung a little more than he would've preferred.
He'd watched them fall in and out of love. He'd seen them cry for love, beg for love, and even die for love. He'd witnessed the pain and thrill of it. And always, was he reminded of you.
Brooklyn. 1944.
He'd told them that this was a quick trip. It was usual for him to sporadically leave for a month or two, and while no one had ever been told about you, a few of the villagers suspected their leader had put his heart in someone else's hands.
It was quick trip, that's all. He reminded himself repeatedly on his journey. He would visit just to see you despite how much he hated the modern world. Anything was worth it for you. Fortunately, mind control was helpful when traveling through South America, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, and passing by sets of Islands until he could see in the horizon the figure of a woman.
She was a reminder of how long it had been since he'd seen you.
It had been long before there were skyscrapers and automobiles passing through the streets. You never stayed in one place for too long - in your case, more than thirty years - but he'd remembered your last conversation in Paris.
"America is thriving, Druig," you smiled, playing with the buttons on his shirt. One had been loose, just hanging by a thread, and you'd promised to sew it back for him. "I'd love to see it, anyway."
Outside your open windows lived the nightlife of Paris. The streetlamps had been lit for hours at the very least, the flames glimmering and twitching in the darkness. Couples walked the streets below, arms in arm and hands in hand. If you listened closely, you could hear their conversations of love. With Druig's heart beating directly under your ear, nothing else could have been more perfect in that moment.
He hummed in amusement. You were curled under his arm, head on his chest and his thumb rubbed over your shoulder. "Why would you want to leave 'the city of love'?" Druig mocked you. You had always been a romantic.
Besides, if there was a man going around by the name 'Captain America', he was sure you had something to do with it.
Stepping off of the docks, Druig did his best to adapt to the smells of the city. There was a rotting scent coming from a random direction, an odor of wet stray dogs and their food from garbage cans followed him into the streets, and then an aroma of what Druig sensed was cold vegetable soup and stale bread.
With a bag swung over his shoulder - the villagers back in the forest had slipped in some goods, which consisted of handmade clay pottery, because while they didn't know who, they knew their leader was visiting someone - Druig began to push his way through the crowded city.
Fashion had dramatically changed...was that a woman's ankle? A man wore a jacket made from the same material as potato sack, and a boy's shoes had holes in the front. There were the occasional men dressed in pinstripe suits with shiny suitcases, but they did their best to refrain from making contact with anyone else as much as possible. It disgusted Druig. He admired humans but they could tear each other apart in a way that he hated.
He already missed the people of his village, but anything was worth you.
You had been living in a small tenant. The windows were dirty with old rainwater and smoke, and the door to the lobby had a broken lock. Druig would've been worried but he knew you were more than capable of handling yourself.
He imagined how he would find you. Would you be sorting through a book or gliding through the kitchen? Did you still have the little origami swan he'd made for you all those years ago sitting on your shelf? Most importantly, was there anyone else you shared your bed with? Your heart?
Only when he appeared at your door, knocking twice on the wood, he didn't hear you shuffling inside to open it.
It was silent. And that scared him.
But then there were footsteps behind him - light and airy, he knew exactly who they belonged to. There was a pause, a comfortable shift of silence in the air as you stood a foot away with your groceries in hand. The dress you wore was pretty, but you were always prettier.
Blue eyes against yours. The thinker and the fighter. Before he could even speak, you smiled, "Would you like to come in?"
Your voice was still sweet and welcoming. It was home. He followed through your door, invited with the smell of cinnamon. It was refreshing from the stench of the city. Your kitchen was small, and the dining room wasn't much of a room but more of a single table with two chairs near a window. In front of the fireplace sat one long couch accompanied by an old armchair he recognized from Paris.
On your table sat a small vase of peonies. A few were gray and practically dust, but others were vibrantly alive. You set your three bags of groceries on the counter. "I can make you something if you'd like." So sweet.
"I don't need anything," Druig said thoughtfully. He put his hand over yours and rubbed your thumb. "I know I said I'd be back sooner-"
"10 years sooner," you corrected him. It was true; Druig had made an oath in Paris that he would see you again, so you were surprised to have waited a decade later than he'd promised. You weren't cross or aggrieved, but you were right to be at least a little upset.
Druig's heart broke at the thought of you being alone, knowing that sometimes you could let your thoughts get the best of you if there wasn't someone else to aid you. "We were having complications at the village," it was your turn to rub his hand in comfort. You knew how the first war would affect him.
"It's okay, Dru," you smiled, kissing his chin. How he missed your lips on him, he'd never be able to explain it.
He pressed his forehead to yours. Both of your eyes closed as the moment enveloped you. Even the sounds of the city outside began to drown out. When he opened his eyes, Druig glanced to a stack of papers scattered over your counter. You weren't one for clutter. "Looks like you really do need me," he joked, and you smiled. With a nod of consent, you turned to the groceries as he flipped through your mail.
"Jane B. Acklam, from St Bartholomew's Hospital...in London," Druig laughed impressively. "You're famous, aren't you?"
"That would be Kingo," you take the letter from his hand and looked over the address. "I was a nurse for them in 1915," Druig's heart clenched when he noticed the sadness taking over your tone. In your eyes he could see everything. You admired humans as much as he did. "I suppose they want me back."
Druig wanted to comfort you and wipe away any memories of a battlefield, but he took your sudden smile as a sign to change the subject. There was an envelope on your counter that had been ripped open and inside was a letter. "Well, look at you," he teased, watching as you playfully rolled your eyes. "An admirer?"
He couldn't understand much of the scribbled writing, but there were a few words he could make out. "Love", "see you again", "after the war, we can go dancing", and "With love, Steve".
"He'll get over it," you smiled fondly of the Captain, but he wasn't truly yours. "Besides, I've got someone else to keep me happy."
Druig discarded the letter, and smirked. "I wonder..." his fingers tilted your chin so your lips angled perfectly with his. You only met gently, just barely brushing against each other. It was serene and intimate. "Beautiful, beautiful (y/n). I missed you."
Cheeks turned red. Your eyes began to open again but his remained close. He was taking his time to remember this moment, because all of those centuries ago, he promised you one thing.
Down your knees fell, skin scuffing from the rough stones below you. You could your bones shake. He was walking away, taking your whole world with him. "Druig!" You screamed after him. Your voice was shattered, the same as your heart.
He didn't even turn to look at you. His footsteps on the stairs halted. The entire city was covered with those of golden eyes. They all faced you both, watching as your lover slowly abandoned you. From behind you, Ikaris held his arms against his family attempting to rush to aid you and to convince Druig to come back home.
"Druig, please," you refused to let yourself cry. Not in front of him and not under these circumstances. "You can't leave."
You could've sworn you heard him laugh. "And you can't come with me," he spoke without even turning to face you. The moment was raw and unbearable, and never in your life had you done anything to deserve this. Even Druig knew that. So why was he tearing you apart? "You don't work without them, (y/n). You're their pawn, and I can't fit in with that."
Down your heart fell, millions of pieces left there in Tenochtitlan, even to this day.
Kneeled over so your forehead touched the stone steps, he finally turned and met your eyes. "Beautiful, (y/n)," he cooed, taking your chin into his hands. He had never abandoned you before. Your time on earth had been spent with him, not a moment alone. The thought of the years to come and spending them by yourself was frightening. "I'm sorry to leave you."
Somewhere along time, you'd learned to move on without the lost pieces of your heart. You healed, and when he returned back to you a century later, you forgave him--not as easily as he would've preferred, though.
"Have you missed me?" his voice brought you back to the sweet reality where you both rested in each other's arms.
Druig's eyes were desperate. Even if he knew the truth, he would still dig deep to find it. He always had to know. But he suddenly felt stupid for even asking; the smile on your face confirmed it. "You should stay," you murmured, "and never leave again."
He chuckled so deep that it shook your bones, wrapping his hands around your waist and hips so there were goosebumps forming on your skin. "You know I wish I could, love," You let yourself turn to putty in his hands as he lifted you onto your small counter top. With your dress riding up your thighs, there was a shock of coolness against your skin. Druig liked the way you smiled.
Kisses were left on your neck. "My beautiful (y/n)," slowly, you began to melt. "Let me love you."
-
He would leave again. Only once had he done it in quiet and when he'd returned years later, you wouldn't talk to him for days. From then on, he would wake you up or kiss you goodbye. Somehow, leaving had become a chore for Druig, something like a daily routine. It still hurt to watch your figure fade away as the distance between you increased.
With fingers brushing through his hair, Druig found it even harder to leave your side. He tried to think of the people of his village, how they needed their leader and his protection, but he wasn't an idiot. They were well-trained to handle themselves. Currently, the universe was pointing in the direction of you, and who was he to disobey?
Oh, right. He thought to himself.
"My love," he whispered into your temple, hoping it would pass through your skull and to your brain. Maybe then you'd be able to stop your affection and doting and he'd be able to leave. Even if he didn't want to.
And you were left wondering why. Why couldn't Druig stay? Was it so hard to stay by your side? Ikaris and Sersei had managed to love each other for centuries, and even if they had their troubles, that's all you asked for with Druig.
Your forehead touched his chest. "No. I can't." And you couldn't. There wasn't a single muscle or bone in your body that would let you let him go.
Druig felt the same and it only made it hurt more. It'd been two months since he'd stepped foot on the docks of New York, since he'd read that letter on your counter, since he'd lied in your bed for the first time in years. Druig was spoiling himself by staying with you for this long.
"I know you can," you could feel him turn cold and bitter again. "You've done it before."
"Don't make me do it again," you tried to sound strong but it was hard when he was tearing apart your soul. "I shouldn't have to be prepared for you to leave."
Druig looked away. You heart broke. "Why not? You'd think you'd be used to it by now." He clasped his hands in yours. Did he want you or not? He was making it impossible to tell.
You weren't sure what he'd said next, you'd stopped listening. But you were well-aware of his arms pushing yours away from him, of his lips leaving a delicate kiss on your lips that you didn't return. You were aware of the lack of his presence once he left your home and you could feel him drifting away.
a/n: i'm gonna start putting author's notes on the bottom here! well, i know it wasn't exactly heartbreaking but it's heart-wrenching. and there will be a part two soon!

𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: after a particularly bad argument with Druig, you had run off no where to be seen. while looking for you your boyfriend bumps into a helpful friend
𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: she/her pronouns used, fluff, soft moments, reader sucks at cooking and dancing, quite a bit of dialogue, underlying angst, reader has telekinesis as her power, mentions of the bridge of the Domo which is the room with the statue where they all gather (i had to look it up to find out its name so in case you didn’t know)
everything in italic i got from a pinterest post a while ago and it is not mine but if you know who it is from please let me know and i’ll credit them <3
Tumblr media
‘fine then, just leave!’ his voice echoed down the empty hall of the Domo, you being the only noticeable thing there. he turned around in annoyance, too pissed off to face you; you tried to give him a look of love but anger coursed through you taking over and making you give him a glare before twisting and walking down the bare hall. by the time Druig had turned back around, you were gone.

Don’t Let Me Go
Summary:Druig and the reader finally have alone time after the Emergence to express how they feel about each other.
WC: 4,459 words
Inspired by this song:
A/N: This is my first piece of writing like this!  Tried to edit it as best as I could :)  Sorry if it seemed rushed or uneasy!  I hope I did well !  @siempre-bucky, this is for you :)
Tumblr media
“You guys did that?”
“I love you…so ..much,”
You chuckled as you were leaning against the archway, watching the TV and seeing the news.  There was Tiamut, a marbled statue of the Deviant that almost killed off the entire planet.  You remembered being there on the beach when you stopped the Emergence from happening, remembering it all in your mind as you were watching the TV absentmindedly.  It felt like a dream that you went though that was beyond real and beyond intense to experience.  You could still feel the sea salt air against your skin, the heat of the volcano that erupted because of Tiamut waking up, and the ground shaking under your feet as you were fighting off who used to be our ally.
You were still reeling about Ikaris.
Ever since you all reunited and got back together to stop the Emergence, you had a sinking feeling that it wasn’t the same as it was before.  Ikaris was determined in any way, shape, or form to have the Emergence happen, which lead to demise of both Gilgamesh and Ajak in the process.  It was as if he stabbed you himself when you heard what he did to Ajak, your view of him forever changed.  But in the end, it was Ikaris who was defeated.
These past few days were a whirlwind to you, seeing your family again and trying to save the world at the same time.  Your head was spinning with all of this unfolding in front of you, from the moment they recruited you in your small log cabin in the woods out in the outskirts of Canada, you were in over your head.  But then again, it was nice to see your family again and to see their faces, it’s been centuries since you’ve all been together.  Old memories and moments were sprouting back into your mind as you went along with them, especially with one Eternal in particular.
Druig, the mind controller.

Why didn't you? pt. 4

Angst with a teeny bit of happiness, really small tho
Summary: You're heartbroken back to your family home who are consoling you.
Wordcount: 907
TW: Red Room, sadness, human trafficking
Your hair dripped in little strings over your face.
The rain poored from the sky, but you didn't knew if it was tears on your cheeks or the rain.
Staring at the wooden door for ages, you slowly lifted your hand and knocked on the door.
Thirty seconds.
One minute.
One minute and thirty seconds.
Why won't the door open?
Is she ignoring you?
Is everyone ignoring you?
No, that can't be.
Can't it?
The door swung open.
"Y/N?" She lowered her pistol.
"Mama," you whispered. Voice barely noticeable among the sturdy rain.
"What are you doing here, мой сладкий?" (my sweet), she pulled you into a soft embrace.
Your face scrunched up in pain and a hurted whimper escaped your lips. You didn't respond, only hugging her tighter. Cheek smashed against her wollen sweater.
"C'mon, c'mon get inside or else you're going to be sick."
Reluctantly you let go, you stepped into the hallway and kicked of your gear. Melina draped the coat on the heater in the livingroom.
"From who is that?" a deep accented voice said, papa.
You opened the door and sheepish you stood in the livingroom.
"Hi papa," you looked to the ground, not wanting that dad saw you like this.
"Y/N!" His voice was surprised and he stood up out of his chair. You wanted him to give a hug but Alexei ushered you to change upstairs.
Yelena's face turned into confusion then into happiness and then into worry, but she stayed silent.
In your comfy wear, you sat in the livingroom with a warm cup of tea and some cake.
"Eat! Eat!" Mama said, noticing the lack of hunger. Other than that, it stayed quiet. Only the sound of burning wood could you hear.
"So," Yelena said folding her hands. "What even happend? You're coming here al snotty with a sad face, what's wrong?"
You gripped your teacup and you closed your eyes, not wanting to cry.
"They-they told me I was a monster," your voice cracked. "I thought- I thought," you put your hand in your hair tugging slightly at it. "I though they were responsible for Natalia's death."
Eyes wide open, muscles tensed.
"They were ofcourse not responsible," you shushed quickly.
They are, admit it to yourself.
"They ignored the Snap, but that's whole another story," you waved away.
The muscles visibly relaxed and a quiet hum from Melina reached your ears. You took a deap breath and explained your side of the story.
"What! They did what?" Yelena stood abruptly out of the sofa. "ублюдки!" (motherfuckers!). Her eyebrows furrowed in anger, "they can't- they can't just assume you did it for fun! They are so dumb for not asking for clarification, о Боже." (oh my god.) She sighed the last part in irritation.
Melina's face was clear from any emotions, while Alexei was the completly opposite.
He was seething.
How could they hurt his precious daugther?
"If they ever show their faces here, they will be lucky if they escaped with broken bones," she deadpanned.
Alexei and Yelena agreed.
Bed time fell and you laid in bed, the door creaked slightly open showing papa.
"You're still awake?" he whispered.
You nodded.
Wait.
He can't see that.
"Yeah," you mumbled.
The relationship with your father was complicated, betrayal still fresh in your heart. He betrayed you and you still felt guilty to walk away from him. Not literally tho, but mentally. The mattress dipped and he avoided your look.
"You know I will always protect you right?"
A lump formed in your throat and you pulled your bed cover over you. With a muffled voice you said: "Then why did you sell us?"
He looked at the heap of duvet that was you.
"It was for you own good."
You stayed silent, a few tears leaking.
Guilt washed over Alexei and he mumbled a quiet: "Wait that came out wrong."
"I shouldn't have done that."
Other than the irregular breathing underneath the duvet, it was still.
"I am," he turned away his gaze and rubbed his face. "I am sorry."
You cried and gripped the cover with dear life.
Alexei pulled the cover of your face and he gave you a hug. You pushed him away but he wouldn't budge. Deeb sobs came out of your mouth while you hitted him on the back. Desperation hits you, the longing of a family.
You rested your head in his shoulder, the spot where your cried was completely wet. You felt a few tear spots on your shirt too.
The two of you said nothing to eachother, the unsaid words were said. Alexei stayed until you were calm and tucked you in, singing a Russian lullaby.
"In the declining years.
More tenderly we love.
Shine a farewell light,
That light of the last love.
Shadow of the evening dawn.
Embraced half the sky.
Just there, in the west.
Radiance wanders.
Keep your honor, keep your honor.
Look, friend, the great strength.
Was growing up ahead, look.
Look, friend, the great strength awakens
Fidelity in the heart.
Help me measure the strengths.
Strength, grief or your voice.
Slow down, slow down.
Slow down the evening day.
Stay longer, charm.
Let the blood get thinner in the veins,
But not in the heart get thinner.
My tenderness for you.
Oh, you, charm,
The last love."
"From who knew you this song?" You stared at him.
"My mother sang this to me when I was around your age in Ohio, do you think you can sleep now?"
"I will try, thanks papa."
"спи сладко, Y/N." (sweet dreams)
"спи сладко, papa." (sweet dreams)
Your relationship still fragile like fine china.
This time after making sure he couldn't hear you, you cried again. This time from exhaustion, happiness and pain and you fell in a deep sleep.
