Lettuce Plants at Day 37
November 1, 2022 (Tokyo, Japan) - These lettuce plants are growing in a hydroponics tower and as can be observed the color green is quite vivid.  The roots are healthy and white. When using Environcon™ in the water reservoir tank, the water doesn’t discolor because of pathogen and bacteria buildup. Also, when using Envirocon™, I have noticed there is no foul smell in the  water tank reservoir. This is because the Envirocon™ plant biostmulant (PB) product contains a proprietary silver ion process that kills bacteria causing odors. The roots on this lettuce plant have grown to around 50cm (19.68 inches) in length and the lettuce plant hasn’t been harvested yet. When it is harvested I will take another measurement of the root length and structure to compare.

Conflicting State Laws Bring Confusion to Cannabis Industry
November 5, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - In this news article readers can begin to understand the confusion and the uncertainty being displayed by state governments on the direction of the legalization of marijuana. Readers can see just how nascent the cannabis industry is with a myriad of complex laws and restriction that need to be rapidly worked out in the coming years.

Legal Marijuana Is Coming To Illinois, But What Will Happen If You Bring It To Missouri?
By JOSEPH BUSTOS | BELLEVILLE NEWS-DEMOCRAT | November 4, 2019
Tumblr media
On Jan. 1, Illinois residents will be allowed to possess any combination of 30 grams of cannabis flower, 5 grams of cannabis concentrate, and 500 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused product.
While people who are at least 21 will be able to purchase recreational marijuana legally starting on Jan. 1 in Illinois, it doesn’t mean they’ll be able to bring the cannabis into Missouri.
However with such ease of travel between the Missouri and Illinois, with multiple bridges connecting the two states in the St. Louis-area, someone is bound to bring legally purchased weed from the Land of Lincoln to the Show Me State.
On Jan. 1, Illinois residents will be allowed to possess any combination of 30 grams of cannabis flower, 5 grams of cannabis concentrate, and 500 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused product. Non-residents will be able to possess half of those amounts.
Illinois’ law also prohibits transporting cannabis across state lines.
If other state’s experiences are any indicators, Missouri will probably see people bring weed that is legal in Illinois across the river. After Colorado legalized marijuana, Nebraska started seeing more arrests for marijuana possession.
Nebraska and Oklahoma even sued Colorado because more people were bringing in marijuana into the two states and overwhelming police and courts. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case.
HCI Alternatives, a marijuana dispensary in Collinsville, expects to do at least $20 million in sales next year when recreational weed becomes available. Among the factors is the proximity to St. Louis. And the Green Solution in Sauget is even nearer to the river.
Possible charges
So what could happen if you bring your legal cannabis into Missouri?
Possessing between 10 and 35 grams of marijuana in Missouri can be charged as a class A misdemeanor, which could carry up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000, according to the Missouri Sentencing commission.

Snoop Dogg “Down With” Israeli Cannabis Company, Highlights Investment in the Country
November 5, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - Here is a piece of intriguing technology from Israel. A sealed container controlled by AI technology for optimal growing of flowers and vegetables - and cannabis.
________
Source: CFN Media Group
Vocal cannabis activist Snoop Dogg has signed on as a brand ambassador for Israeli start-up Seedo (OTC: SEDO), the maker of a refrigerator-type of a machine for auto-growing plants, including cannabis. The indelible award-winning rapper says he’s “all the way down with” the Seedo Homelab and the utility it brings to allow people to grow their own plants in unused space at home.
With the help of Snoop, Seedo is one of a handful of companies making news that complements the storied history of cannabis in Israel that includes the discovery of cannabinoids decades ago and the passage of legislation this year that makes the country one of only of a small group in the world allowed to export cannabis.
Another company etching its name in Israeli cannabis business is Isracann Biosciences (CSE: IPOT) (OTC: ATLED), the first pure-play cannabis firm in the country to list in Canada.
Technology in Israel
Seedo’s smell-proof, self-contained cultivation box lets users with no previous agriculture experience produce “brag worthy yields” with little more effort than planting a seed and monitoring the process through an app. The world’s first fully automated and controlled indoor growing machine drums up memories of the old hands-off, “set it and forget it” Ronco rotisserie.

Another Example of Out of Control Bureaucracies In California
November 4, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - These people in these law enforcement bureaucracies are living in Al Capone’s prohibition era Chicago. Unbelievable that they can destroy all these plants at their discretion because these plants were a little over the “legal” THC limit. Police: Hemp plants seized in California were pot worth $1B
November 3, 2019
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Authorities in Central California have seized and destroyed about 100 million plants they said were being grown as legal hemp but contained THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said it served search warrants at several fields totaling 459 acres in the Arvin area on Oct. 25 as part of a joint investigation with the FBI and California Department of Fish and Wildfire.
The office said samples of the plants tested “well above” the federal limit of 0.3 percent of THC for industrial hemp.
Authorities said the plants were essentially cannabis worth about $1 billion on the black market. They wouldn’t name the grower, citing the ongoing probe.
The Bakersfield Californian said hemp cultivation is allowed in Kern County but pot production, sale, and processing is all but illegal.

CBD and Insights On Its Efficacy
November 4, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - Here is a great interview on THC and CBD oils readers might be interested in listening to in order to increase your own understanding. The consequences of the ongoing misguided "war on drugs" have been devastating on multiple fronts not the least of which is the lack of research into actual benefits. On the last episode of Objective:Health we looked at the new research being done on psychedelic drugs to help with a whole range of mental issues. This week, we shift our focus to cannabinoids, better known as CBD, a powerful medicinal from the marijuana plant.

Release American Farmers with Industrial Hemp With Its Diverse Uses
October 29, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - If American farmers are going to be economically salvaged than industrial hemp will be their only salvation as we will see in this article by F. William Engdahl.
________
Will the US Farming Crisis Determine the Next President?
By F. William Engdahl | 16 September 2019
Tumblr media
Image credits: U.S. Department of Agriculture NRCS photo - Public domain but use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested. https://www.usda.gov/policies-and-links
The American farm sector is undergoing its worst crisis since the 1980’s. Extreme snow and then unusually heavy rainfall across the Midwest farm belt this spring and summer have severely delayed or reduced crop plantings. That comes after several years of falling farm income. A US EPA series of waivers to the oil industry then sharply cut the market for corn ethanol. To make matters worse, in retaliation for Trump Administration tariffs on China goods, China has halted all import of US farm products. All this comes as US farmers struggle with record high debt with bankruptcies spreading. Some compare the situation to the crises of the Great Depression in agriculture. Farm production has long been a major pillar of the US economy and exports. Could this little-noted farm crisis become a factor that could determine if Donald Trump wins or loses re-election in 2020?
The Ethanol Fiasco
At a time when farm income has fallen dramatically over the past several years, the Trump Environmental Protection Administration just dealt a further severe blow to the market for corn used to produce ethanol for E10 fuels. On August 9, the EPA announced that it had approved 31 of its 38 pending small refinery exemptions, allowing the oil refiners to avoid mandatory blending of gasoline with corn ethanol. The approvals were retroactive to 2018, in violation of the Biofuels law, and allowed oil refiners to evade mandatory blending of more than 1 billion gallons of corn-based ethanol, a huge blow to US corn growers.
To make matters worse, the pro-oil Trump EPA, first under Scott Pruitt, a strong backer of the oil industry, and now his successor, Andrew Wheeler, a former lobbyist for the coal industry, have granted a record number of oil refiner exemptions including to companies like Chevron and ExxonMobil, in direct violation of a law intended to help only small distressed refiners. The exemptions are to date some four times what was exempted under the Obama administration resulting in a major loss of corn ethanol consumption.
Acting retroactively, the EPA granted the equivalent of over 4 billion gallons of ethanol exemptions for the period 2016 through 2018, equivalent to losing a 1.4 billion bushel corn crop, the entire annual harvest of Minnesota, a major corn state. The US ethanol lobby organizations are demanding the Trump Administration restore that lost ethanol volume as required by law. Emily Skor, CEO of Growth Energy, an ethanol association, stated, “More biofuel plants are closing their doors with each passing week, and farm families have run out of options. The EPA must take immediate action to restore lost demand under the 2020 biofuel targets and repair the damage from abusive refinery exemptions granted to oil giants like Exxon and Chevron.”
The growing of corn to produce ethanol for blending with gasoline for fuel additive has become a major prop of US agriculture since the Bush Administration proposed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 which amended the Clean Air Act, requiring the EPA to mandate annual volumes of biofuel, mostly corn ethanol, to be blended with gasoline fuel, heating oil or jet fuel. The growth of the US ethanol production has been such that today almost 40% of all US corn grown is for ethanol. Most USA gasoline today is E10 with 10% ethanol. Today the USA is the world’s largest corn producer by far, almost doublenumber two, China.
The EPA waivers to the oil industry have dealt a big blow to US corn farmers across the Midwest states, especially Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska and Indiana. To date the Trump Administration has made several gestures to address the loss of ethanol markets for corn farmers. But the farmers and ethanol associations claim it is far too little. Notably, in Iowa during the 2016 campaign, Trump pledged to protect the Renewable Fuel Standard of 2005, which mandates a certain amount of biofuel added to the fuel supply each year. Many farmers feel betrayed by the EPA.
The White House is now caught between its heavy support to the oil industry, a major campaign donor source, and to the farm belt, the heart of the trump “Make America Great Again” popular support in 2016 and critical to a re-election in 2020.
The ethanol EPA rulings are by no means the only actions farmers see as a negative coming from the White House. The China trade war has also dealt a huge blow to US farm exports.
Please go to F. William Engdahl to read the entire essay.

Bernie Sander’s state of Vermont  and Cannabis
October 28, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - Only in America can a communist politician like Bernie Sanders advance the legalization of cannabis as a presidential platform promising executive orders to change the laws. In 2020, don’t do it America. Don’t put this clown in office. Bernie Sanders is from the state of Vermont. Look at what the abusive policies are of the massive bureaucracy that has formed over the years in Vermont:
“Consider that in Vermont, the government has grown to be a mammoth corporation (the state's largest employer by far) and sucks up working Vermonters' wealth in a trickle-up bureaucratic behemoth.  So much money is spent on reports, studies, and employment for state workers that Vermont's property tax rates are some of the highest in the nation.  To the extent that any of the money does come back down, it is indeed a mere trickle.”

Bernie Sanders Manages To Make Marijuana Legalization Cost $50 Billion
The senator's marijuana legalization plan is heavy on taxes, regulation, and executive power.
By CHRISTIAN BRITSCHGI | 10.25.2019
Tumblr media
Yesterday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I–Vt.) released at 4:20 P.M. (sigh) an ambitious marijuana legalization plan that is heavy on taxes, spending, regulation, and executive action.
Within the first 100 days of his administration, the Vermont senator and Democratic presidential candidate is promising to issue an executive order instructing the attorney general to deschedule marijuana as a controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act, something legalization advocates say would be a huge win.
"Directing the attorney general to declassify marijuana would eliminate significant obstacles to medical marijuana research and also alleviate the banking problems facing marijuana companies operating under state law," says Matthew Schweich of the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP).
Marijuana's current classification as a Schedule I drug prohibits state-legal cannabis businesses off from using U.S. banks, meaning they lack access to financing, payment processing services, and even basic bank accounts.
Sanders' plan also calls for expunging the records of those convicted of federal marijuana offenses, re-sentencing federal marijuana prisoners, and providing funding for states and cities to do the same. While expungement goes beyond a president's pardon power and would require the cooperation of the courts (and possibly Congress), throwing the executive branch's weight behind an expungement effort would speed the process along, Schweich says.
Because this is a Sanders plan, his legalization initiative also calls for more federal spending and regulation. Sanders wants to tax the newly legal marijuana industry to the tune of $50 billion over 10 years, and then spend that revenue on new grant and development programs. This includes $20 billion in grants to "entrepreneurs of color who continue to face discrimination in access to capital." Another $10 billion will be given out as grants to "businesses that are at least 51 percent owned or controlled by those in disproportionately impacted areas or individuals who have been arrested for or convicted of marijuana offenses."

Hemp Industry Will Continue to Grow and Learn
October 26, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - In the state of Illinois this hemp farmer is going back I guess to the way hemp was originally grown? He is mixing his crops including hemp as one of several crops he is raising. As the hemp industry is preparing for a massive book there will be a continuous display of how hemp will be grown more efficiently and with better techniques. It’s not going to be easy as many farmers begin switching to or including hemp in their farm production crops. It will take a lot of hard work and experimentation. Then the quality of the hemp and the strain will have to be taken into consideration if that hemp is used for CBD oil production.

One of Illinois’ first hemp farmers goes back to the basics this harvest season
OCTOBER 24, 2019 | BY LAUREN JACKSON
ROSEVILLE, ILLINOIS  --  It is the middle of harvest season, but there is a new crop coming from rural Warren County, Illinois.  Andy Huston is the founder of American Hemp Research and one of the first farmers in Illinois to legally farm hemp.
"We are going back to the thirties where we gotta do it by hand," Huston said. " This is a lot harder work."
In August of 2018, former Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner signed the Industrial Hemp Act. That act legalized the growth of hemp in the state. In December 2018, Congress passed a farm bill legalizing industrial hemp production in the United States. Now, CBD oil extracted in Illinois can be sold to other states.
"It feels like were pioneer days and we`re just starting to figure stuff out," Huston said. "It's all brand new."
Modern farm equipment isn't made for hemp. Huston says he tried to use a combine to harvest his 17 acres of hemp, but the combine isn't grabbing the plants. He says that the crop is too new and there is not hemp specific equipment on the market yet.
"There is just going to be a lot better ways to do it than how we are doing it this year," Huston said.
It's a learning curve for Huston and his team. He harvested hemp on a research grant in 2018, but this year he has more than 90,000 seeds.
"It seems like everybody is using different techniques and using different machinery," American Hemp Research Farmer Logan Bird said.
Tossing the hemp into the combine by hand is more than just hard work, it slows the harvest process down.
"I would say it's probably going to add maybe another week or two," Bird said.
Huston's plants are going to be extracted for CBD Oil. He used two different types of farming techniques on the five different strains of hemp.

'This is gold' — Leamington's Aphria starts rolling out cannabis vape products

Cannabis for vaping is the next big retail marketplace push for Leamington's Aphria Inc, which has begun production of vaping products ahead of Health Canada approval. Here, a Windsor man enjoys his vaporizer pen in downtown Windsor on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019. DAX MELMER / WINDSOR STAR
LEAMINGTON — They just look like three average-sized kitchen pots on a stovetop half-filled with a syrupy molasses.
But there’s enough high-potency THC in those containers to keep everyone in Windsor stoned for a month. And the gooey contents here — cannabis distillate with a ultra-high-inducing THC level of about 90 per cent — are worth about $3.4 million.
“You know what they call this place? This is the liquid gold room,” Aphria interim CEO Irwin Simon told the Star on a tour this week.
For anyone to get into the sealed “refinement area” of Aphria Inc.’s sprawling Leamington operations, you need a company escort, company photo ID created at the front entrance, hairnet, spotless lab coat and footwear slip-ons. The scientists and lab workers handling that valuable liquid, processed from the acres of greenhouse marijuana plants grown on-site, also don protective gloves and goggles.

Bernie Sanders Wants to Keep Big Tobacco Out of the Cannabis Space
October 26, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - Just as you would expect from any saprophytic politician, Bernie Sanders is jumping on the cannabis bandwagon and is pushing for further legalization of marijuana. Good luck trying to keep big tobacco out of the cannabis industry. Big tabasco will come out on top with branding and infrastructure it already has in place to build on their existing tabasco businesses.

Bernie Sanders’ Marijuana Legalization Plan Goes Furthest of Any Candidate
Sanders’ plan aims to keep the industry localized and diverse — and to keep Big Tobacco out of it
By EJ DICKSON | October 25, 2019
Tumblr media
Bernie Sanders introduced a comprehensive marijuana legalization plan at 4:20 p.m. yesterday. Scott Olson/Getty Images
Sen. Bernie Sanders has unveiled one of the most ambitious marijuana legalization plans to date.
Yesterday, at precisely 4:20 p.m., the candidate released a detailed, sweeping proposal to legalize marijuana on the federal level. “Too many lives were ruined due to the disastrous criminalization of marijuana. Today I am releasing my plan to: Legalize marijuana with executive action, expunge past marijuana convictions, [and] invest in communities most affected by the War on Drugs,” the senator tweeted.
According to Sanders’ plan, the presidential candidate would ensure that revenue from the cannabis industry is pumped back into communities that have been most negatively affected by the War on Drugs, such as marginalized communities of color. The plan would authorize the creation of a $20 billion grant program within the Minority Business Development Agency to allow entrepreneurs of color to have the funds to start their businesses, as well as a $10 billion grant program to help fund businesses in areas that have been disproportionately affected by the War on Drugs.

Most Cannabis Companies Won’t be Around In the Coming Years
October 21, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - For cannabis investors here is an interesting article by Motley Fool on the investment potential of Aurora Cannabis. Most cannabis stocks couldn’t have decreased in price than what we’ve seen over the past several months. It is likely most if these companies won’t be around in the comping years. 3 Reasons Aurora Cannabis Could Soar Before the End of 2019
Don't be surprised if the beaten-down Canadian marijuana stock makes a comeback soon.
By Keith Speights | Oct 20, 2019
Sure, Aurora Cannabis (NYSE:ACB) shares are down around 25% so far this year. And, yes, the stock is more than 60% off its highs set in the first quarter. But the growth prospects for the global cannabis industry still appear to be very good. Aurora remains a top candidate to prosper in this global market over the long run.
But what about the short term? Is Aurora destined to underperform for a while to come? Not necessarily. In fact, there are three very plausible reasons Aurora's shares could soar by the end of 2019.
1. Its Q1 results could be impressive
The most obvious way Aurora could rebound strongly is by reporting impressive fiscal 2020 first-quarter results. Those results will probably be announced by early December. Don't discount the possibility that they could be better than expected.
It's easy to overlook that Aurora's fiscal 2019 Q4 results weren't bad. The main problem was that the company had given overly optimistic guidance just a few weeks earlier. Aurora's net revenue in Q4 jumped 52% from the previous quarter. The company reported negative adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), but it's trending in the right direction.
There are a couple of factors that should work to Aurora's advantage in Q1. The company's higher production capacity will enable it to sell more cannabis in Canada and in Europe, particularly Germany. And with its Aurora Sky facility's low production costs, Aurora's margins should improve.
Remember that companies play a game of expectations with earnings results. Aurora lost that game in the last quarter, but it could just as easily win it in Q1.

Former task force chair sees warning signs from first year of decriminalized cannabis
By Armina Ligaya | October 20, 2019
The former lead of the federally appointed task force for the legalization of cannabis says the first year has gone "extremely well" but there are "yellow flags veering to red" on vaping as laws governing the next wave of pot products come into force.
Anne McLellan, the former deputy prime minister and head of the team of experts assembled by the Liberal government to make recommendations on how recreational pot should be legalized, said the growing number of vaping-related illnesses on both sides of the border is giving her pause.
"Do we get to red, as a federal regulator whose first priorities are health and safety of the consuming public?" she said in an interview.
"I don't know but we're certainly, I think, at yellow, based on what we're seeing out of the U.S. and some of what we're seeing in Canada.
Her comments come roughly one year after Canada legalized cannabis for non-medical use on Oct. 17, 2018, making it the first major industrialized country in the world to take the landmark step.
The rollout was plagued by product shortages and supply chain bottlenecks that lasted for months. While Canadians in provinces such as Alberta and Newfoundland have broad access to legal pot at dozens of stores, Ontario did not have a single legal pot store until April of this year.
Supply issues have largely been resolved and the number of licensed cannabis providers has grown to more than 500 -- though not all are up and running -- but the distribution is uneven across the country.

The Coming CBD (Cannabidiol) Free-For-All Explosion
October 18, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - The CBD (cannabidiol) market is expected to go to $10 billion by 2024 and as it does, consider for a moment the coming ferocity of the competition. One company after anther all vying for the best brand of CBD oil to carve out their market share. Everyone including their family dog are going to be selling CBD oil to cash in on this boom. The downside is there are going to be a lot dubious companies selling substandard CBD oil products. CBD oil is now sold in gasoline stations if you can believe that. It will be sold every where and by every one. In fact, children will replace Kool aid stands with CBD stands. See if you can count the number of companies manufacturing CBD oil. Personally, I have counted over 30 and that’s just casually.

Great Idea In Pennsylvania For Growing Marijuana
October 17, 2019 (Tokyo, Japan) - What a great idea in Pennsylvania for spreading a little equality around making it easier for the average slave/subject in America to grow their own cannabis. In California, practically anyone can grow it though. Everyone wants into this cannabis industry as it is getting set to blast off to the moon. Lot’s of loot to be made especially for the states in tax revenue and of course licensing fees. As an example, look at the hemp industry growth. And for you people who don’t know it, stop stealing hemp crops. THC is at a minimum in hemp. You can’t get high on it.
Inside the 'wild wild west' of Indiana's first major hemp harvest
Thing is once you pay a fee to grow marijuana, the restriction would be that you could only grow 10 marijuana plants. So get everyone in your family involved and let’s say you have 6 relatives interested, your clan could grow conceivably 60 marijuana plants. Be sure to contact all the cannabis seed suppliers you can because the science is moving at such a pace there are companies that have some really advanced hybrid marijuana strains. Some of these seeds can be expensive. Some going for around $30 a seed or more.

Grow it Yourself: Recreational Marijuana Proposal for PA

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Some Pennsylvania senators are proposing another bill for growing cannabis after Governor Tom Wolf announced his support for the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Under a new bill introduced in the state Senate, people 21 or over could pay $50 a year for the right to have up to 10 pot plants for use in their own home. That person could share the marijuana they grow with friends or family. They would not be able to sell it.
"I think it's a good thing because people can get it easier. And I think it would stop crimes from people selling it. People can just grow it themselves at their house," Sidonio Castro said.
"I think for people medically it's a good idea, but not necessarily recreationally. I think maybe that's going a little bit too far," Maria Gyle said.
For $250 a year, you can get a permit to grow up to 150 plants at home then sell it to a processor or dispensary. The catch is you can't use that pot yourself.
Another provision would allow adults to pay $50 a year for a permit to deliver recreational marijuana from licensed dispensaries.
The senators who proposed the bill expect it to generate $500 million in tax revenue after the first year. That money would go to schools.
"From the tax revenue alone, and there's a lot of medical benefits to it, so absolutely," Jim Rail said.
The proposed legislation also covers businesses. Use lounges would allow people to smoke or consume their own marijuana in a public place, but marijuana could not be sold or traded there. That permit would cost a business $1,000 a year.
Dispensary permits would cost $5,000 a year.
