Later that night, Betty lays in her bed, silently begging sleep to come. She has a mandatory AP History study group in the morning that she’s barely prepared for, so consumed by the investigation, and she can’t face it while also sleep deprived.  Her mind wanders back to the Blue and Gold earlier that day, at the way Jughead had commanded the room during their interrogation. At the same time, he’d given her room to ask questions and had easily bounced off her. Her face flushes as the thought crosses her mind: we make a pretty good team. After Dilton had finally left the office, Betty had collapsed onto the beaten up couch. “Is it weird to say I’m kind of pumped with adrenaline right now?” Then she’d looked up and caught Jughead staring at her, this goofy grin on his face that made her heart literally skip a beat.  “No,” he had replied. “It’s not weird at all.”

I’m curious, you guys tell me how you distinguish between your two sets of grandparents when speaking (or how you did it as a kid). Was it always Grandma [Lastname] or Grandpa [Firstname], or did one or both sets of grandparents have nicknames? (Like Nana or Papa.)

#we used #grandma/grandpa last name #on both sides #however my son calls my husband’s parents grammy and poppop #my parents are grandma and grandpa no first or last names #and he will correct you if you use the wrong term #for each grandparent #like i can’t call his grammy ‘grandma’ lol

a shot in the dark, chapter 7

“Betty,” he repeats, like he’s trying out how ridiculous it sounds as he stalks closer. Willing Jughead to stay frozen in place, she juts her chin out and squares her shoulders, allowing her anger to burn through any fear. Closer up, she can smell the alcohol from his breath, that sweat and sex stench of the Wyrm on his skin.

He studies her, but when he speaks, it’s directed back to Jughead. “Never thought I’d see the fuckin day, son. But I ‘spose I can’t blame you.” FP circles her, and Betty wills herself to stand firm, but not frozen. It’s a naked sensation after all these weeks not to have a gun in her hand. Jug’s knife is still in her boot—she takes a deeper breath at the thought. 

“But I’m still gonna need more details on how this came to be. I can tell she ain’t a whore, and she been well fucking kept for most of her life. Hunger looks new on you, Miss—well, I suppose I should say, Mrs. motherfuckin’ Jones. Pardon my French.”

Her eyes narrow. “I speak French,” she tosses back. “And Betty’s just fine.”

For @lurker-no-more - a caveat with this ask is that I only watched the show to about mid-season five…but I feel like maybe that’s a universally understood caveat at this point lol

Riverdale

favorite male character: Jughead – he was the most interesting and felt like such a fully realized character rather than the literal caricature he was in the comics – which is not to say that version was bad or wasn’t what that purpose of that character was meant to be in that media format, but in the one that was seen within the show – that iteration was filled with emotions and a span of witty, often insane dialogue and I can’t help but love that version.

favorite female character: Betty – gosh did she deserve so much more than her stories on the show…she deserved to live…to thrive…but a testament to Lili that the hope within that character rose above the stories and reached the audience’s heart.

least favorite character: Archie (no elaboration)

prettiest character: Betty

funniest character: I don’t know if “funny” is the right word, but Cheryl wins for the best lines.

favorite season: I really like three, but season one is also just so nostalgic – especially looking back on the show now…

favorite episode: I think I’ll always love 1x06…for perhaps obvious reasons…but then the season three finale…what a finale in my opinion…and when an episode of television can feel cinematic and sort of supersede the confides of a smaller screen, then I feel like it achieves something really great and this episode felt like that to me as a viewer.

favorite romantic ship: Bughead forever

favorite family ship: probably because Jughead felt like the most fully realized character to me as I stated above, and yes his family dynamic was ultra dysfunctional (defining the word really) but it’s my favorite in that even in the often “comic” fanciful realm of the show, they felt the most grounded if that makes sense? So with that I say Jughead and his family. Not saying that in a ship way like this asks makes it out to be, but in that it was the most compelling to watch.

favorite friend ship: Veronica and Betty <3

worst ship: Barchie
