6SS - first part

Decided to post both a section of Give Up The Ghost and one from magic shop!!

This portion is from GUTG, it's Sashnetra but this bit is between Anetra and Marcia 😊😊

“If you're going to act like a kid, and cause everything electric in Sasha's apartment to break for no reason, then I'm not going to help you anymore, Marcia.”

Anetra expected Marcia to pout, to maybe scowl and evaporate again. Instead, their face twisted in sudden anguish, their head ducking to Anetra's hand.

They gave a sharp, shrill cry, like a mortally wounded creature; not a cry of pain but one of desperation, pleading.

Then Marcia lifted their head again, sitting up tall, a shard of ice shooting through Anetra's heart to see their eyes shimmering even in spectral form.

“Everyone promises to help me, they say they want to see me again, but it's always the same, every time, every single time it's new people and the same questions, nothing happens, nothing moves! It's frustrating and exhausting, and I - I'm scared, I'm scared! I worry… is this what it's going to be like? Forever?”

Anetra swallowed the lump in her throat down, blinking back the sudden tears in her own eyes. 

“It won't be, I promised I'd help, but you have to work with me, and stop annoying Sasha.”

“While she can say whatever she wants about me?”

“I didn't say that, but … she lives here, if she leaves - if you make her leave - then I won't be back; but while I can, I will help you.”

Marcia sucked their lower lip, letting it go slowly, gazing into Anetra's eyes with a sudden softness.

“I wish I'd known you.”

A barrier had risen, serving as a chilly reminder to Anetra that Marcia still existed in some ethereal way, that their actions couldn't be ignored. As much as she wanted to help them, she didn't know their intentions, and their actions and reactions were so peculiar to Anetra, as if Marcia was taking care to show Anetra exactly what she would expect them to feel.

As if Marcia almost didn't want to acknowledge the fact they were a ghost. 

Did they even fully realise themself all of the time?

Anetra's heart ached, a dull pain in her chest, and she reached a hand to Marcia’s face to brush a tendril of their hair behind their ear before realising she physically couldn't -

“Okay, I'm back!” Sasha flung the front door open, pizza boxes in hand, and before Anetra could even blink, Marcia vanished from Sasha's spot on the couch.

"The morning is intimate in a way Anetra didn’t expect. Sasha waking first and hogging the bathroom with her lengthy routine, brushing her teeth and combing her hair and moisturizing her face. Ordering room service, and finding out Sasha likes hot sauce on her eggs too. That she likes her bacon extra-crispy."

I'm still catching up on spy au but this made me 🥹 it's just very soft and calm and comforting!! So I thought I'd come and quote it at you 😊😊
