Laura sunk back into her chair a bit. She wanted to drop the kebab and slide her head into her sad polo shirt and hide in it like a turtle would, their shell. Unfortunately however, she couldn’t. So instead she would sit and wait for the inevitable horror that would be Flann’s disgusted pout--
She almost jumped in her seat when the other woman’s laughter came bubbling outve her. She blinked and stared at her somewhat shocked- and definitely surprised with the reaction. As her laughter died down Laura looked at her sheepishly, taking a moment for Flann’s words to sink in. The more Flann spoke, the more embarrassed Laura began to feel about the previous exchange she would personally label as ‘awkward’. And with that embarrassment came a pair of flushed cheeks that were creeping their way up to her ears very quickly. “A-Ah-- u-u-uh--” She gulped and slowly lifted the kebab up a bit to hide the bottom half of her face as she mumbled a series of jumbled sounds and glanced to the side a bit, trying to compose herself a little.
After a moment or two she slowly lowered the kebab, hands shaky and face still a hint flushed and hesistantly met eyes with Flann. She was so....sure of herself and headstrong and charming-- Laura could tell just from this interaction what an admirable woman she was. She deserved someone equally strong and sweet- someone who could spoil her and care for her. And yet, Laura decided to say something anyway. “Being overworked is.. well, part of the job description for retail, right?” She gulped a bit and balled all her strength together to keep looking her in the eyes for her next sentence. “Though... if anyone’s sweet as cream here it’s you. And... I.. may be a little sour but... sometimes.....sweet and sour is a nice mix.” Her face was heating up again, she could feel it, she was dying inside and a bit of sauce was dripping outve her kebab bag and oozing down her palm. But by god, she somehow made it this far she was not going to break their gaze now.

Emerging from the coffee shop with a fresh cup of vienna in hand, Flann made her way back into the fray of the food court with her usual bounce in her step. The day thus far had been uneventful for her after waking up seven minutes before midday. Not much to expect there, on a day off work. She began musing to herself about how to spend the rest of the day as she started moving into the droves of tables and seats. If she didn’t go home, she’d probably end up out in the town come night time anyway. That being said, there wasn’t much worth doing back home for her except maybe laundry.
Thinking about this, Flann gently swished her coffee around within its cup, feeling the weight of it moving around inside the warm cardboard. Out of the edges of her vision, a glimpse of pink caught her eye, and a sound of curiousity left her lips.

Laura’s eyes widened a bit and her expression froze a moment as she processed Flann’s response. A secret…? Well, that could mean a lot of things… either her job wasn’t exactly normal or she wanted to sound cool and mysterious. But she somehow thought Flann wasn’t the type to put up appearances like that just to seem cool… She was intrigued, but after that mischvious smile and the cute way she lifted her finger to her lips… ahh Laura’s heart was fluttering a bit. She smiled a bit sheepishly and took another kebab bite, nodding a bit as she listened to the rest of her response. “Spoil yourself huh…? Well..if it’s that stressful a career change might be good.” She muttered through half a mouth of beef. Laura was a little envious of how carefree Flann seemed about her life… she missed that kind’ve feeling.. but whatever. She didn’t hesitate to take another bite of her kebab to keep her own mouth shut. With a blink, Laura lifted her eyes from her kebab and jumped a bit when she saw the expression on Flann’s face. She seemed so sincere….. so.. concerned…? Laura stopped chewing for a moment and stared at her, processing her words much slower than any normal perosn should then blinked hard and looked down again, chewing and swallowing with a shrug. “It….is what it is. I’m used to it. It’s. fine, yknow?” She muttered a bit hastily as she stared down at the table so steadily she could’ve burned holes into it.
She could feel it again. She was getting attached- she liked her. She really liked her. She could see all the possible ugly endings to this happening before anything even started. Looming over her. waiting. She was going to regret this. She should leave. She should leave. And yet… she also wanted to stay. “Ah.. sorry for.. being snappy.. Tired y’know?”

Flann’s chirpy response wasn’t one she expected. Laura’s cheeks went a little pink when Flann quickly sat down and made herself comfortable. Laura gulped a bit when she did and smiled straight at her like that. It was a little intimidating, having someone so attractive staring at her so closely. She smiled a little despite her nervousness however and took another bite into her kebab.  Really it was a shame she didn’t remember much about her night with Flann. She was cute afterall... very cute. She felt bad she didn’t remember enough to start a conversation of some kind. She wanted to please her.. for whatever reason. She didn’t really know why.  Laura blinked when Flann asked her question. Quickly finished her mouthful and nodded at the same. Waiting to swallow before she spoke. “Ah, yeah. I just.. work at the supermarket. Nothing fancy..” She smiles a little at Flann, a small meek smile in comparison to Flann’s, and she gestures her kebab towards her a little. “What about you..? I.. can’t quite remember sorry.” She couldn’t really remember anything else either but she could pretend.

Laura somewhat nervously stared at Flann after she posed the question. Social situations weren't exactly her forte. She just hoped that this particular encounter wouldn't last too long. More for Flann's sake in all honesty, Laura tripped over words the way a drunkard would trip over tiny rocks, in a brilliant, terrible fashion.
She jolted a bit as Flann placed a hand on her hip and replied. Laura gulped and stared at her stiffly for a moment, trying to find the right words to meet that dissappointed pout. Fuck what could her name be? She swore it started with F- Fran.. Francesca? Felicity? F.........Fuck it. Swallowing her pride, Laura glanced into the other's eyes with hesitation. "C-Crap uh- I'm sorr--" However that was when the other party began grinning and. For some reason that was suddenly more intimidating than her pout.
Laura jolted, again, when Flann began laughing. Her cheeks went red and she paused before letting out a large sigh. "G-God you gave me heart attack Flann-- " She admitted as she looked down a moment to recompose herself a bit before meeting eyes with the other woman again.
In all honesty, Laura didn't exactly remember a lot about the night the two of them had spent together. It was another of her drunken shenanigans that she thought she could avoid facing but... well. She obviously wasn't getting away with that this time. As she watched Flann idly and noticed the way she twirled her hair she couldn't help but wonder what exactly drew someone like Flann towards someone like Laura. Which was when Laura blinked a few times, drawn away from her thoughts by Flann's question. "Oh- I..." She paused and looked down at her kebab and her uniform before looking back up again. "Ah well... I-I am on a lunch break but.. I-I...don't mind...having company. AAH That is- Only if..... you want to....be...company. I. I uh suppose-- " There she went. The drunkard tripping up the street. GG Laura.

Laura gazed around the foodcourt dully, looking at people as they walked past, watching kids have small tantrums and sighing as she took another bite into her kebab. She didn't get why people thought kids were so cute....... Honestly they were like little shitting machines with no mute button. Who would wanna deal with that? She chewed her food slowly, pulling her phone from her pocket and about to unlock when she heard someone speaking. She paused for a moment, mouth full, before she looked up to see a girl- well. A woman. A very attractive one at that who seemed... To be staring at her? She stared back for a moment before she looked over her shoulder to see if someone was behind her who was more likely to be receiving the attention of the beautiful lady before her, but there was no-one there. She looked back and finally swallowed her mouthful, staring at her a moment more. Wait this wasn't just any random pretty woman. It was one she swore she'd met before. She looked the girl up and down, glanced at the colour of her hair, the way she held herself, the energy that was emitting from her before Laura finally blinked hard as the answer came flooding into her mind. Her cheeks went pink and she furrowed her brows- just slightly, not in frustration but in a little embarrassment. She met eyes with the other girl and smiled sheepishly. "A-ah Yeah it has-- Sorry I.. Didn't realise it was you at first--" She mutters before looking down a bit. "Uh-- h-how are you.. F..Flann right?" Fuck she thought was her name. She hoped it was. Otherwise she was gonna look really fucking stupid- Hell, she probably already did, gawking at her like that. But honestly of all the places to run into one of her one night stands this was probably the most awkward one she could imagine. Just her bloody luck......

A pale hand with chipped polish rubbed Laura’s eyes as she walked towards the food court, a purse in her other hand. She surveyed the crowds that bustled around several food stands and sighed, exhaustedly. It was a slow day at work and she’d dealt with too many elderly people for her liking. Now she had to deal with everyone else who was trying to eat at the same time, as well. Splendid. Stepping into line she sighed and waited to reach the counter.
15 minutes later she was sat at a table on her own with a kebab, a drink and a dull expression on her face. She slowly started to roll back the foil and eat as she looked around the food court. It seemed it would be another average, uneventful day.
