Brooke sprinted back the way she came hearing a cackle behind her from one of the men. She jumped over a low fence that would hopefully slow down her pursuers. It was times like this that she was thankful for joining the track team at school. She slipped into a small gap between two houses, grazing her right palm, and hid behind a wooden crate.
She heard the heavy footfalls of the werewolves pass by her hiding spot. She took a few minutes to calm down and compose herself before she moved out from behind the crate and exited out of the gap the same way she got in.
She took a deep breath and looked around to see if anyone was around. No one was, she was alone. She walked back the way she came and hopped over the fence. Maybe going to Deaton's wasn't such a good idea, she thought.
She huffed out a sigh and began to walk back to her house, rubbing at her lower back where there was still a dull ache from falling over. Pulling out her phone she scrolled down to find the vet's number. She was completely unaware of her surroundings and managed to bump into a solid wall, or at least she thought that's what it was.
Building Bridges || Brooke and The Disciples
Brooke took a few deep breaths to try and recover from falling down. She moved her hands in front and took note of the grazes across her palms.
“God damn, really not in the mood for this.” She muttered.
“What’s such a cute fox doing sitting on ice?” She heard a man ask.

Brooke stumbled back slightly, trying to keep her composure. She really didn't like the snarky guy, he was really putting her on edge, but she could tell he wouldn't do anything to her. The other guy was the leader. She knew that much. It was the way he held back, he only spoke when he needed to. And Beautiful woman? Really? Who did this guy thing he was?
She managed to bite back a vicious remark that would no doubt get her into trouble. She smiled at them both and turned to the one she thought was the leader. "I just want to expand my knowledge on the natural world." She fluttered her eyelashes at him. "Or maybe I just think flowers are pretty."
She smirked at him, stepping back slightly and trying to edge away. "And really 'convenient'? That's what you're going with?!" She turned to face Snarky guy. "As if you'd even know what these plants ar..."
Oh shit! They're werewolves...but...Boyd never mentioned them, She thought. All she could see were flashes of fang and deep red eyes. They can't be! Boyd would have told her...wouldn't he?
She could feel her face flush with panic and realization, as she opened her mouth to say something. She closed it just as quickly and pushed the files and Agrimony into her bag. "Look, I don't know who you are or what you're pulling here, but I really should go now." She said quickly, trying to put as much distance between herself and the two men.
She didn't like how they were leering at her and she thought screw it and turned to run the direction she'd come from, hoping that the two werewolves wouldn't catch up to her.
Brooke took a few deep breaths to try and recover from falling down. She moved her hands in front and took note of the grazes across her palms.
“God damn, really not in the mood for this.” She muttered.

New York didn't break her,

And she lost the fight.

New York, New York #2| Brooke Backstory
Brooke moved quickly towards the man and uncapped the vial of wolfsbane. He looked shocked that she was attacking and hesitated. She threw the contents of the vial onto the man and took his painful reaction as a distraction to move around him and run out into the hallway.
She turned left and ran down the corridor looking for a stairwell that led downstairs. She was just reaching the end of the corridor, when she was tackled from behind. She hit the ground with a thud and felt a heavy weight pressed against her back. Strong hands flipped her over and the man grasped her throat in her his hand and pinned her up against the wall.
“Oh no. You’re not going anywhere Princess.” He snarled, sniffing up her cheek. “I can smell your fear you know. I can hear your heart trying to beat out of your chest.”
“You should have just taken the stuff and left.” She spat, trying to take some breaths. “But no, you werewolves think you think you’re invincible. Think you can get away with anything.”
She took in a sharp breath as his grip tightened around her throat. “Oh and what are you gonna do about it Swee…” He froze as she slipped the knife from her pocket and stabbed hit into the middle of his chest.
He laughed and let go of her, stepping back slightly. She dropped to the floor, gulping in breaths of air and rubbing her throat. She checked her pockets with her other hand and made sure there were spare vials of wolfsbane and bags of mountain ash.
He looked down at her and his lip curled up into a smile. “It’s gonna take more than a knife to kill me Sweetheart. Me and my pack can’t be killed by flimsy pieces of metal.”
“I know.” She said, wiping away some blood from her nose, from where she hit the floor. “That’s why I took the liberty of soaking it in a wolfsbane solution.”
The mans eyes widened in shock, as he tore open his shirt and revealed the black veins spreading over his heart. “You…you bitch…I’ll…I’ll kill you.” He growled, pulling the knife from his chest and approaching her. He staggered forward and she could see the veins slowly poisoning him. He was about to take the last step, when he suddenly collapsed on top of her.
She immediately pushed him off and stood up. She looked down at the body of the werewolf and sighed. He didn’t have to die, she thought. She leaned down and picked up the knife, wiping off the excess blood on the bottom of her shirt. She moved and knelt down over the man. She reached out and closed his eyelids.
“I’m sorry.” She said, looking down at the body with pity. “But you should have honored our arrangement.”
She turned and headed towards the staircase at the end of the corridor, following the whines from the Alpha’s other pack members.
She started to walk down the stairs, slipping another wolfsbane knife from her boot.

Brooke watched as Boyd walked out of the house and to his car. She started to cry as she realized what Boyd had said to her. She wouldn't let anyone get hurt for her, especially her best friend.
She slipped down the wall and curled her knees into her chest. "I do trust you Boyd." She whispered. "I just don't trust myself."
She sobbed into her knees, wetting her tights and letting the tears soak through to her knees. She can't remember how long she was curled up crying, but after a while she lost consciousness and into a deep sleep.
He looks at her seriously “alright then Brooke come on tell me more I know there’s more stuff to you than that after you live in Beacon Hills now so everyone is special.” He shakes his head and pulls her into a tight hug “sorry for making you uncomfortable I just want to know…

"I...I can't remember." She stuttered. "I can't remember anything. There was just so much blood and then..." She stopped remembering what happened after. "Then they attacked me. The werewolves that is. I can't remember anything after that. All I know is that a group of teenagers found me in the abandoned apartment block. Apparently I was alone and there was no sign of anyone else being there. The police told me that after I woke up in the hospital. Then my Dad told me we were leaving. It seemed my late-night antics running around the streets of New York weren't being ignored after all."
She stopped talking and bit her bottom lip nervously. "I can't ask you to protect me Boyd. I won't let you get hurt because of me." She rubbed her hands together. "I'm willing to talk to Erica though...about the person who broke into her house, but right now Boyd I think I need you to leave."
Her hands started to shake and she gripped the bottom of her dress. "We're okay, I'm not mad at you. I just need to spend some time thinking this over. I'll call or text you when I'm ready to talk...okay?"

Brooke was stunned. She couldn't comprehend what Boyd was saying.
Werewolves?
Her vision turned white as she remembered her friend Toby's eyes. They flared gold as well. No, no, no. This isn't happening. She thought. This can't happen again.
She stood up and backed away from Boyd. "No. No, you can't be." She started to cry. "I can't...I can't help you. I got them killed Boyd!" She was screaming now. "They trusted me. I had one job and I managed to get them killed."
She ran a hand through her hair. "I knew there were creatures running around Beacon Hills, I just wasn't sure that they were the same as Toby and Maria."
She turns and looks at him now, her face set in rage. "Do you know how difficult it is to kill a werewolf Boyd? Extremely difficult. You can rip their throat out, or like the Omegas I met in New York cut them in half! Dichotomy is an extremely painful and gruesome way to die, and even then, you have to restrain the werewolf and make it weak enough that it won't fight back."
Her mouth snapped shut as she remembered that night in New York. Finding Tobias' body hanging from the ceiling, his bottom half lying discarded on the floor, and the vials of wolfsbane that had been stolen from her apartment.
"I was trying to protect them." She said, her voice barely a whisper now. "I was trying to protect them and they were killed anyway."
She then remembered the rage she felt towards the wolves who had killed her friends and the hunter that they had working with them. "And don't even get me started on Derek Hale!" She spat. "Even saying his name makes me feel sick!"
She settled down slightly "They were gonna come here you know. Tobias and Maria. They knew Derek's sister and they were gonna come find him to join his pack. But they were taken before they could even plan to leave." She took a shaky breath. "They were killed because they wouldn't give up the location of Derek. If he hadn't have gone around turning people left, right and center, they probably wouldn't have been attacked. But apparently he broke the rules and they were gonna find him. They'd even kill innocent wolves to find out where he was."
She finished talking with a whisper, then went silent.
He looks at her seriously “alright then Brooke come on tell me more I know there’s more stuff to you than that after you live in Beacon Hills now so everyone is special.” He shakes his head and pulls her into a tight hug “sorry for making you uncomfortable I just want to know…

She gripped Boyd tight when he hugged her and her eyes welled up. "I'm sorry Boyd but I can't tell you everything. Not because I don't want to, but because I can't remember."
She pulled away and wiped her eyes. "There were some things that happened in New York that really broadened my knowledge of the world. I can't remember the last few weeks of staying there, because I was in a coma for two of them. I got involved with some bad people Boyd. Dangerous people."
She turned away from him. "I thought I was helping. My friends...they needed my help and I...I got them killed." She started to cry again.
"I don't just study plants. I'm able to create natural solutions that can poison, cure  and immobilize humans and...and things that are more than human." She turned to look at him now. "My friends in New York were different. I can't remember why, all I can remember is that they had a secret and I would take it to my grave."
She scrunched her hands into fists and her lips set into a firm line. "I know something is happening in Beacon Hills Boyd. Something not normal, and I won't sit around knowing I can do something about it. I'm sick of people hiding things from me. I need answers and I'm going to do anything to get them."
Hanging out- Boyd & Brooke

Brooke took a few deep breaths to try and recover from falling down. She moved her hands in front and took note of the grazes across her palms.
"God damn, really not in the mood for this." She muttered.
"What's such a cute fox doing sitting on ice?" She heard a man ask.
She glanced up from her hands and saw two older men looking down at her. She gulped and set her face in a sharp smile. "Vixen." She started. "A female fox is called a vixen. You're question should be 'What's such a cute vixen doing sitting on ice?'"
She acknowledge the other man as he held out his hand for her. She looked between the mans hand and his face, before reaching out and taking it.
"Thanks." She said, as he helped her up. She brushed herself down and moved her hand to her lower back, rubbing over the area that she knew was gonna bruise. She noticed a flash of yellow out of the corner of her eye. She turned and looked down, noticing some of the pages from her file had fallen out of her bag, along with the bag of Agrimony. Crap, she thought. I hope none of the pages are wet.
She quickly scooped up the loose pages, hissing when it pulled at her back, and grabbed the bag of Agrimony, holding them all to her chest. She then looked over at the two men, taking in their 'interesting' appearance. They didn't seem to look like they belonged in Beacon Hills and by the sharpness of their eyes, she could tell they weren't just tourists.
She gulped slightly and looked around casually, hoping someone else was on the street. There was no-one around. Brooke started to panic and turned back towards the two men.
"So..." She said, taking a shaky breath. "Thanks for you know, helping me up and stuff." She waved her arms around, indicating to the slip of ice.
"I've ermm...gotta see a man about some plants, so thanks again." She stuttered, making a move to walk past them.
After thinking over some of the events of New York, Brooke decided to open up some of her old files and look into the information she stored within them. She moved her homework from the bed and settled it by her nightstand. She smoothed down the sheets on her bed before...

"You can hear my what? No, it's nothing. It's just the plant stuff, no-one knows about it and I just...well it got me into some trouble back in New York." She looked up at him and hurried to explain. "Nothing major, it was mainly my Dad freaking out. But it's just a really huge secret of mine and I didn't want you to think I was doing something suspicious, so I panicked a bit, but now you know."
That wasn't the whole truth, there was information about Derek Hale and New York that she hadn't mentioned, but everything she said actually happened.
Her fingers are toying with the bottom of her dress and she's just waiting for Boyd to say he's going home. That's what always happens, she thinks she talks too much and people get overwhelmed by her interest in science and botanics. People give her weird looks and laugh at her.
Then they leave.
Boyd looks at her seriously “I already did and things only gotten worst I haven’t talk to Derek in weeks and I haven’t talk to Erica since Christmas.” He raises his eyebrows to where he’s staying “at home where I live well actually I stay at my sisters house sometimes, but I’m…

She giggled nervously. "Gosh no, it's nothing seedy, just a project on using natural materials for medicines. My dad develops vitamins with natural plant extracts to ease pain. I'm just trying to develop it into a liquid and cream solution, as well as increasing the speed in which the wound heals."
She looks at Boyd, hoping he followed, sometimes her science talk could put people off. She brushed her hand over his arm. "Come on Sunshine, lets hit the store and the station, then we can relax for the rest of the day."
She turned and walked to the front door. "I'm really glad your staying here too."

Brooke gulped and tried to pass herself as calm. "Just some stuff on poisonous plants. My Dad works in Botanics and he got me interested in it when I was little." She walks back into the other room and sits down on the couch. "Like herbal medicines and stuff. Only I'm looking into possible cures for certain poisons, not like really huge cures, just stuff that eases pain and reduces the effects of the plants."
She takes a deep breath. "I need to get some files on people from Beacon Hills who have suffered poisoning in the last two years to help with my research and also for evidence." She smiles at him. "Sorry it's really boring, I'll shut up now. Do you wanna go shopping in about an hour? It shouldn't be too busy at that time."

"Really? That would be brilliant." She said, smiling at him. "I've been really busy the past couple of days so I forgot to get some food."
She stood up and moved into the kitchen, putting away the ice-cream she left on the counter. "Hey." She shouted into the other room. "Is it okay if we make a stop at the sheriff's station? I have to pick up some files for a project." She wasn't lying, she had turned this whole thing into a little project of hers, she just hoped Boyd wouldn't question her too much about it.

She smiles and hugs him. "Thanks. If you wanna get some stuff from your house, you can meet me back here later." She pulls away. "I have to get some shopping and stuff anyway."
She thanks the heavens she met someone like Boyd. She needs someone to keep her grounded. But right now she needs to get some files from the sheriff's station.
She also needs to get some food. She can't remember the last time she ate, she thinks it was the other morning, but she's been too busy with work and worry.

She looks him over, studying his expression. "Well maybe you need to take a different approach." She started. "Why don't you ask the other people who were there what they thought happened, you know. Understand the situation from all perspectives."
She takes a breath. "And I didn't mean anything by asking where you lived, it's just...well, you don't know when your adopted parents are coming back and mine are away for another couple of weeks." She looks down at her hands, fiddling with the bottom of her dress. "I have two spare guest rooms so...if you ever wanted to stay over it's totally cool. I know how lonely it gets, sometimes it's like no-one even lives in this house."
Her eyes start to tear up and she snaps her head back up to look at Boyd. "But only if you want to. I still think you should talk to everyone, but taking a break from life every once in a while can do you a world of good."
She smiles slightly, pushing down the panic that she felt at hearing Derek's name.
