[Adam hugs him back tightly, this time smiling as he chokes back small sobs] I love you kiddo...
[There's a knock at the door.]
"Daddy, somebody's at the door!"
Adam heard his daughter shout from the living room. He stopped in his tracks, putting the dirty dishes down back in the sink and ripping his hands with the kitchen towel. His hands were still trembling. He had done his best to keep his emotions in and not break down in front of his little daughter but it was still hard, he could barely comprehend the fact that one of his children was gone. Crushing guilt and devastation would be good descriptions of his emotions right now, but then again it felt like an understatement of the century at the same time. He was surprised he could even function right now.
He cursed quietly under his nose, a visitor was the last thing he was hoping for right now. Just another thing to exhaust him mentally. Still, he pulled himself together and left the kitchen, approaching the front door.

Oh, I know that dear. Seems your mama is a bit of a scardey-cat sometimes. [He chuckles] Say, Jackie, if you wanna reenact that for your kid, how about you go pet Boris?

Oh, yes, she ran away screaming and even curled up into a ball. It was very amusing to see.

Oh- yes, Boris. He's my guard goose, he protects the chickens from predators- and also apparently my property from intruders too, as your mama unfortunately found out. [He snickers a little]

O-oh- [Adam smiles weakly when he notices the little kid. He completely forgot they were even standing there, he was so focused on his own child.] Is that the little Wist I heard so much about?

I-it's alright, really. You should really stop apologising for everything. [He sniffles a little and wipes away the remainder of his tears] You- you didn't do any of this out of malice.

[Adam held him like that for a long time, he wanted to say something, anything more but he could barely collect himself from his sobs. He couldn't believe it, his child was alive.]
I-I thought you... [He let out a whimper, moving one of his hands to Jack's hair as he pulled her closer] J-Jackie, m-my baby, I can't believe you're- [another broken sob and he tightens his grip on them]

[Adam paused for a solid second, looking at the person in front of him in shock. It took him a moment to register the amulet or the words that he heard. He quickly lifted his glasses and rubbed his eyes, as if disbelieving what he was seeing. But no, his eyes weren't playing tricks on him. It was them, it was Jack, and they were alive.]
J-Jack- y-you- [tears pressed into his eyes and he choked back a sob. A moment of hesitation. He grabbed Jack by the arms and pulled him in close, wrapping his arms around him tightly like his child was going to disappear if he let him go, and immediately broke down into loud sobs and wails. He gripped at Jack's sweater tightly with his trembling hands, choking out his words between sobs.] M-my baby-... My little baby...I- I tho-thought you-...I-I'm sorry...I-I'm so sorry, I thought I- I thought I-I lost you...
