I'm probably going on a depression break from this blog or at least a semi-hiatus.
As a heads up, if you follow me, this doesn't apply to you.
I love my muse so fucking much but I see so many people uninterested in me/my muse and given how much I put into him, it actually really upsets me and hurts, especially when the fandom I'm in is already small and reaching out to other fandoms is like pulling bricks from a brick wall if they don't follow you first.
I suspect part of it is because I'm too different from the average western fandom and don't enjoy the dub of Ves*peria, because it made too many changes to the original Yuri, and I get the feeling that I'm very isolated because of my JP preference and the fact that the two Yuris are vastly different, and so people don't want to write with my version because it doesn't fit their expectations. I can't imagine it's anything except that or the fact that I have a determined ship and people don't want to write with me because of it.
I just feel very silently judged. I appreciate everyone that is genuinely interested in my muse and I probably know who some of you are based on ooc interactions, but I just see so many who aren't, in such a small circle, that it's really getting me down. There are so many people in such a small fandom who haven't even remotely acknowledged my existence and presence.
I don't even know what I did wrong except that people must not like me for my JP preference. If someone followed everyone I know but not me (and this happened more than once), my muse is the problem and that just hurts. It makes me not want to be here. I feel very lonely here. This is the strongest muse I have right now, and yet I feel so limited.

Attraction: Flynn is so dazzled by Yuri’s looks that sometimes he can’t really help but stare at the other when others aren’t looking. Growing up, Flynn loved to play with Yuri’s hair and found it almost soothing to run his fingers through. His hair is probably his favorite physical trait on Yuri, right next to literally everything else. Overall, Flynn is VERY attracted to Yuri. He is a touchy-feely boyfriend and he is not afraid to show it. (And also his voice is very nice.) Long story short, boyfriend gotta hot body what can ya do?
Affection: Growing up, the affection that Flynn held for Yuri admittedly wavered here and there. Less because he didn’t like Yuri but more from the own monsters in his head. As a teenager, his affection had practically been maxed out as he practically couldn’t even consider spending time with someone else. As a Knight, he tried to quietly smother that affection, afraid that Yuri was going to do something stupid and get himself killed and that he wouldn’t be able to recover from it. However, as they went on from that part of their lives, Flynn couldn’t really bring himself to hide how much affection he has for this man. To the point where Yuri is usually the first on Flynn’s list of concerns.
Interest: Flynn didn’t have a lot of interests as a child aside from practicing swordplay, due to having to help care for his already frail mother. Because of this, Yuri ended up having to introduce Flynn to a bunch of his own interests in which Flynn picked up as his own. Because of this, Yuri and Flynn share a lot of interests with one another. Of course, Flynn began to pick up his own interests eventually, mostly when he was separated from Yuri but a lot of them were practically because they branched off from the original interests they shared as kids.
Loyalty: Flynn is loyal to a fault when it comes to Yuri. He’s so loyal to Yuri that he was even willing to give up his position for the man. Even when Yuri had committed murders, Flynn would tell himself that he intended on turning Yuri in to pay for his crimes but it seemed like he was finding every reason in the book to not arrest him right then and there. Even when Yuri had blood on his hands, Flynn was still trying to reason with him that it wasn’t too late to turn back from that path. And if Yuri had decided to do so, Flynn would have likely turned to look away from the crimes that had already been done. He will also put his entire life on the line for Yuri. (Also, this man literally created a fake report to cover for Yuri killing Garista. Despite what Flynn says, he would never throw Yuri in jail and will hide a body for him. )
Trust: There is not a single human being in this entire world that Flynn trusts more than Yuri. You could put the world’s kindest individual in front of him and Flynn would still say that he trusted Yuri more. Flynn trusts Yuri to watch his back, to protect not only him but to protect the people around them. That trust has never wavered. Not once and likely never will. Flynn trusts Yuri to always do the right thing, even if it doesn’t seem right in other people’s eyes. Flynn even trusts Yuri to grab him and yell (or even beat) some sense into him if he ever found himself treading down a wrong path like he did with Alexei. It’s probably not healthy to trust in someone as much as Flynn trusts in Yuri, Flynn is aware of this. But he simply does not care.

Flynn's complete change in attitude caught him off guard, but it also worried him. How had he gotten that intense? Even on his normal (normal...?) angry or aggravated days, it wasn't this bad. At the very least Yuri was grateful he'd come to his senses, but... now he was being erratic in a completely different way. Worse, Yuri wasn't... entirely sure what to do about it.
"I... uh... it's okay, Flynn... It'll probably bruise, but... I'm not badly injured or something..." He knew Flynn wasn't even thinking about it right now based on that reaction, but Yuri supposed he would have to consider this another loss under his belt against Flynn. It was hardly much of a spar in this case and more of a one sided venting session, but it wasn't like Yuri hadn't humored him... or at least tried to. Even in this situation, it wasn't like he was going to halfheartedly engage in a sparring match with Flynn. He'd still wanted to try.
For now they could just go back to their room and Yuri could use a gel, then have his shoulder checked tomorrow. Honestly, he wasn't sure how much of a deal to make this. If he ignored it, was that too little attention paid to a possible problem? Would it just upset Flynn more? If he went along with Flynn's choices, what if that just made Flynn panic more?
Before he added that he could just try a gel for now, he paused. A small but silent sigh left him. Just like usual lately, he... didn't know what to do. What would make Flynn react in anger, or if this panic of his could be calmed without him getting angry. Was Yuri stuck between choosing anger or panic for Flynn? At this hour though, he really didn't want to have to explain to someone that Flynn was just upset and needed an outlet and then... this happened.
"Let's just get back to our room. I can take a gel from our personal backups for tonight and have this checked tomorrow. If something was dislocated or broken I'd probably know." It hurt, but nothing like that. Yuri bent down to pick the practice "sword" up with his better hand, moving to grab Flynn's on the ground from where he'd dropped it in his panic. He didn't want to think of this as a good thing, but maybe it would... help Flynn be able to think things through better...?
The injury would probably be sore tomorrow, but there was nothing they could do about that. Yuri gently tugged at Flynn's wrist as he passed him on the way back in that direction, nudging him to go with him back to their room. If Flynn still needed to get his anger out, they could get him a training dummy tomorrow easily, but... he wasn't sure if Flynn could wait that long. It was like... something was boiling over tonight. He had a lot of angry days lately, but... tonight was... worse than that.
When they got back to their room, he again almost let out a sigh, though of relief. Whether or not someone heard them out there he didn't know, but they'd gotten to their room without incident. More than likely, everyone else was too tired to bother berating them right now and would just wait until tomorrow. As promised he checked through their backup stock of assorted items, deciding it was probably better to use a Lemon Gel right now. That would probably get Flynn's mind in a better state than an Apple Gel...
Tumblr media
After getting the gel out and swallowing it, he turned back to Flynn. That worried, panicked expression hadn't left his face... As much as sure, it did hurt, it wasn't nearly as bad as Flynn seemed to think it was... "Are you... okay? It hurts, but..." Word it carefully... "...I really don't think it's any kind of emergency. I know you didn't mean to do it, so..."
Flynn should have been glad that Yuri took up the practice weapon, should have been glad when the man took up a stance to spar with him. He was always calmest and happiest when his weapon was in hand and he always felt at ease when he sparred with Yuri. It was where he felt most at home when he lived back at the Lower Quarter. It was always when things felt normal for Flynn.
So Flynn was terrified when he realized, as he swung his blade with Yuri, that the familiar feeling wasn’t returning. He couldn’t get his head into it, couldn’t feel the same familiar joy he felt when he swung the stick, letting wood collide as their weapons met. And with every clack of wood against wood, with every vibration of their connected hits shooting through his arm, he grew more and more overwhelmed by the fact that nothing was feeling familiar anymore.
Was he truly so different now that he didn’t even feel at home while sparring with Yuri? Was he so lost that he couldn’t even enjoy this anymore? Did he even deserve this? This wasn’t his thing anymore, was it? Was this simply reserved for the old him?
Another swing of his wooden blade. Another connecting blow with Yuri’s weapon. Who even was the old him? When had he disappeared? Was this why Yuri couldn’t even look at him?
A dodge to the left, he side steps and he even gets grazed by the other’s sword, though not enough to leave a mark. Was he just a shadow of his father now? Had joining the nights really erased every bit of himself? Was he just going to be ‘Finath Scifo’s son’ now? Will he ever make up for his father’s mistake? Will people ever stop reminding him of how noble, how stupid, his father was?
Will–
The weapon swings much harder than Flynn intended and connects hard with Yuri’s shoulder and in an instant, his mind goes entirely blank as he watches the other recoil back, hand grasping his now hurt shoulder. For a moment, he’s taken back to that day, about ten or more years ago, when he had first met Yuri. The day he had just nearly broken Jareth’s shoulder because of his own intensity with the weapon Yuri had given him.
He remembered feeling a bit of guilt that night, curling up in his bed and wondering why he couldn’t stop himself. Why he couldn’t stop himself from lashing out. They were just kids. They had no training. They had no means of self defense. He was honestly surprised that Yuri could stop him at all.
He thought he had gotten better. He thought he had.
“...Yuri–” The wooden weapon slips from his hand and clatters to the ground as Flynn jumps to Yuri’s side, hands hovering as if he’s afraid to touch the other (because he was afraid. What if he hurt Yuri again?). “Oh my gosh– Yuri, are you alright?! I’m– I’m so sorry, I wasn’t... I didn’t think I was swinging that hard!!"
His face was pale and panicked… but for once since they had started talking tonight, his eyes were slowly beginning to focus. Focus directly on Yuri as worry began to overtake his features. “H-Here, can you pull your shirt off a bit…? Let me see it. Maybe… Maybe we can request a healer. I’ll take the blame for it– This was my idea.” It’d come from his own funds, he was certain of that. That was fine. Totally fine. Anything to get Yuri healed.
"Dammit– Dammit– Yuri, I am so sorry, I wasn’t thinking– I was distracted, I didn’t want to hurt you!”

"Do you want revenge? Is that what you're thinking right now?" — @cataclysmus
@cataclysmus
Of course some part of him did. Alexei had hurt all of his friends in some way or another. Even Don Whitehorse himself was gone now because of Alexei's plans. As much as the man may have wanted to atone, there was only so much he could do. Some things stayed with a person. Lost lives couldn't be brought back. Nothing could fill that void. Not for good people like Don who were lost, and if Judith's reaction was anything to go by, Astal was probably important to her.
There wasn't a single person he'd traveled with who wasn't affected by the man's actions. There was still so much he was upset about, but... he had decided to trust Raven. If Raven could get him under control and take responsibility for anything the former commandant did, that should be enough for him. It wasn't like Yuri didn't have any negative bias, but he was doing what he could to refrain from being too open about it in front of Raven.
Maybe it was also because he'd killed Ragou and left Cumore to die that die that he knew he would get nothing out of it if he were to kill Alexei now. Back when he'd been their enemy, sure, but... if he was willing to turn himself around? Yuri wouldn't be killing some heartless criminal who would only repeat his villainous behavior as soon as he was safe again. At the very least, he could tell the difference between them and Alexei. At least, the Alexei that stood in front of him today.
Tumblr media
"There's still a part of me that wants revenge... but I'm trying to tell myself that Alexei is already dead... even if it's just for Raven's sake." He knew Raven was trying to get them to reconcile. He knew Raven wanted two of his closest friends to get along. It wasn't that easy and they all knew it, but if Alexei was going to truly, honestly take responsibility in some way or another, what place did Yuri have in getting any sort of revenge?
Besides for that, it would merely be for himself. Even if he claimed it was for his friends and what had been done to them and their lives, it was only for Yuri himself. None of those people were out seeking that kind of revenge anymore. If they were, they'd want to do it themselves anyway. Killing Alexei out of his own personal grudge, regardless of who for, was still only for him. Still only to make himself feel better.
Alexei wasn't Ragou or Cumore.
"I wasn't thinking about revenge right now, no... but I do still think about what you did. I do still find it hard to move on and just get past it. Seeing you up close especially, it's hard not think about those things. I can't take that anger out on you anymore though. At this point it won't help anyone but me. I'm taking your word and Raven's that you mean it when you say you want to make up for what you did. Just don't make me regret it and end up hurting more people. If you go back down that path, I can't promise I won't go after you."

He wished he could explain. Wished he had time to warn him properly. Even for Yuri, it was almost insane how quickly everything in the world just went completely haywire. Things were normal for a while at least, aside from the constant fear of never know who was next on Vision Central. That was just the norm though. Other than that, Yuri's life had been normal. Average. Things were fine until... Van happened.
When Repede nudged him, he looked back at him for a moment, a small sigh leaving him and he nodded. Repede was right and he knew that, but walking away like this was just... difficult. He knew Repede understood, but they all knew Yuri getting noticed here did none of them any favors. Rather, it could just end up getting them all killed.
Flynn's apology could have broken his heart though if it wasn't already basically broken. Yuri had already lost so much of himself that was hardly recovering around Kanata's group. It was nothing compared to what he was before. Flynn probably noticed it too... how everything about his demeanor had reshaped itself for survival and reality.
"It's okay. All of this has been... a lot." They both knew why he cried. Yuri might have felt the same way if he had as well, and eventually he would, even if only out of frustration. Their entire situation just felt like... a lie. In some way, it almost felt like it was just there for people's entertainment. To watch some supposed criminal just try to keep living and struggling all the time. To see who else suffers in the meantime who knew him.
Maybe he did need to leverage with Jade. Not only was he important in his military, but he was also technically in opposition to the side that was... rampant with these things. Yuri didn't know much about Gadel, but he was at least aware he was to blame for Aegis' sin being completely made up. For all Aegis insisted he had committed at least a sin of sorts, it was nothing worth the lie he was being put through.
Even if Flynn was partially joking, Yuri still gave the smallest nod in understanding. He was still right. If they met, Flynn couldn't risk his position or his entire life by associating with him in front of others. Some soldiers might be understanding if they knew he was an old friend, but most of them would only give him so long to "steel himself" and "get over it". They would likely only leave him to a grieving period - not a chance to explain the truth.
Still, he knew he had to go and sighed again, almost as a means of bracing himself to be able to leave. Being condemned was difficult and painful, but taking him away from his life - Flynn and the Lower Quarter - was even worse. His hand reached for Flynn's as he leaned back toward Flynn for another, this time brief, kiss. "I love you too. Always." It had taken everything left in him not to choke on his words. It was too late for that. He had to leave.
He gave the longest glance he could before turning around, patting Repede's head to let him know it was time to go. Repede answered with a quiet bark and followed Yuri down the alleyway. Yuri stopped only briefly to look back at Flynn, not saying a word; no expression on his face that remained before he rounded the corner.
He wasn't sure if he was angrier than he was sad. Angry that this had to happen in the first place. Yuri had been angry enough to kill before, but seeing the effect a single condemnation could have on so many others was a lot more than aggravating. Yuri's life hadn't been the only one ruined and nobody cared. None of the masses cared about the others who lives were in danger now just for associating with him. Just for knowing him.
This all started because of Kasque, didn't it? No matter how much he blamed Van, if Van was just working for Kasque, he needed to skip right over Van's head and go for her. Kanata and the others were doing that, but they weren't strong enough yet. None of them were. They needed to be. If Yuri was going to kill anyone, it had to be her. If Van got in the way, he would just have to go down too.
Whether it was a lie or the truth, Flynn didn’t know nor did he care. Just hearing Yuri was enough to give him some spark of hope to cling to in his mind. As long as Yuri said those words, Flynn could pretend that Yuri was definitely going to come home one day. It was such a strange way to fool his mind but he knew he could trust Yuri and his strange ability to survive, even the smallest of odds.
Even if Yuri were lying about his promise to make Flynn feel better, Flynn had a feeling that it didn’t matter too much. Because Yuri was Yuri and his friend would find a way to make it through alive, even if it seemed entirely impossible at the moment. He wasn’t sure who Yuri’s new friends were and he definitely didn’t have the time to ask but he just had to trust that these friends would help Yuri along this path he had taken.
Meanwhile, Flynn would have to assist from a distance. Though he wasn’t too sure what he could even do from Zaphias, not to mention he would have to leave the city occasionally as well. Thinking back to their long term goal… To get rid of the vision orbs and Vision Central… He could always start from there. Research their origins, find connections and maybe even research the Goddess as well.
Though even if he found anything, there was no guarantee that he would be able to give the information to Yuri unless they were able to meet up. And him leaving to go search for the other would be entirely out of the question for a multitude of reasons. But he couldn’t just sit around and do nothing, could he? He had to have something to offer Yuri for when they inevitably meet up again. (Because they would, wouldn’t they? It seemed impossible that this would be the last time they see each other.)
So, he would have spend what little free time he had researching the topic of the Vision Orbs and of the Goddess Kasque. Carefully, of course. The last thing he needed was someone to catch him looking into the matter and getting suspicious about Flynn’s sudden interest in the topic.
At the mention of the twins, Flynn is suddenly caught off guard by the sudden topic change as Yuri wiped at his face. “What…? Twins? I don’t… think I’ve ever come across them…?” As he speaks, he notices the worry on Yuri’s face and whoever these two twins were, they were already filling Flynn with a sense of dread.
If Yuri looked this worried and was needing to bring it up to warn Flynn in the middle of their goodbyes, it must be serious. But did Yuri know this first hand? Had these twins hurt him in some way? Tricked him? Were they dangerous? Flynn had too many questions to ask and not enough time for any answers. For now, if he were to come across these twins, he would probably just have to opt to avoid them if possible. It would be nice to know what he was dealing with but they did not have the luxury of time.
Repede wanders over and lets out a tiny whine as he bumps his head against Yuri’s leg, ears pushed back as he glances back over to Flynn for a moment. Repede… was right. They were spending too much time here and it was only a matter of time before one of his knights came back and found him still hanging around the alleyway. He could only cover for himself for so long.
“I have a lot of questions about… well… everything but… But Repede is right. We don’t have time.” Flynn’s chest began to ache again as he moved his hand to dry his tears. “I… didn’t want to cry. How embarrassing…”
A weak laugh escapes him. This wasn’t how he ever wanted to see Yuri off. How could Yuri find the strength to do any of this after such a depressing goodbye? No, Flynn had to do better than that. To salvage this the best he could and, despite his red eyes and tear stained cheeks, see his most treasured friend off on a good note. With a smile.
Reaching over to cup Yuri’s cheeks in both of his hands, he leans forward and kisses him one last time, short and gentle before mustering up the biggest smile he could make in these circumstances. It was shaky but he hoped it would be enough.
“When we see each other again, I hope we’ll have enough time to actually sit down and have a talk about everything. If you come across me while I’m with our Knights, we may have to pretend to be enemies for both of our safeties but just know I wouldn’t do anything to actually hurt you… Badly, anyway. I know you’re perfectly capable of taking a few hits from me. And vice versa.”
He offers another tiny laugh at his poor attempt at a joke as strokes his thumb against Yuri’s cheek. “You should go… We’ll see each other again soon. I love you.”

So it was his weapon? It would explain why he had no trouble handling these guys... Normally Yuri wouldn't either. His blade work was fine and he was perfectly capable of fighting the Enforcers off. The main problem was how they just didn't die. His skill was never the problem... and this guy somehow had the means of getting rid of them? Then again, he was called the Great Transgressor... and Yuri had no idea what that really entailed.
He couldn't help the frown that pulled at the corners of his mouth. Beg? For a weapon? Yuri had made it this far and he was perfectly content not begging a stranger to have a weapon capable of dealing with Enforcers. Certainly he would take one, but not at that price. Still, he was... curious about this man. Rumors had a whole lot to say about him, but he hadn't shot at Yuri. Seemed more interested in him than anything.
"Nah. Sorry. Not begging. I'll still take it though." The number of Enforcers was dwindling, even if he did have Vicious to thank for that. On his own he might have kept evading them, just as he had been for the past, well, short time that felt like forever. Weapon or no, he wasn't dying here. There were still plenty of things he had to do, and he would make sure they were done even if he had to do it all as a Transgressor.
"Thing is, I wanna fight these guys... to get them off my back. The people I really wanna fight aren't here. They just hide behind these white cloaked nothings." These... inhuman creatures that never even spoke. Yuri could take pity on a monster in the right circumstances. They were still lives. But these things? They were almost creepy. "These things are just in my way, and it's annoying."
Vicious snorted a puff of air before full blown laughing at Yuri. That was it? Man, these people sure didn't like any fun around here now did they? Nobody could handle a little murder or two or maybe they just really got off to condemning people. Vicious gave Yuri a one over with a thoughtful sound, pointing his gun to shoot a Enforcer about to interrupt him. Gives a whistle to the guys little sob story of how he came about being a transgressor. Rather a bummer the guy got caught but hey, that just meant more fun and games for Vicious, was like a little treat.
'you just stopped to take these guys out for fun?'
❝ ahah, uh. yeah— and? ❝ Vicious smirks, ❝ you wanna fight, too, don'cha. i can see that LOOK in yer eyes. ❝
Tumblr media
Vicious didn't come across many people like this guy so he was in for a good one. Wondered if just possibly, this guy was up for the challenge. He eyes the weapon in Yuri's hands before looking back to his feet and he nearly laughs in his face.
❝ that shit isn't gonna do jack-all against the enforcers, but maybe— — if ya beg.
i'll give ya a weapon that'll really knock 'em DEAD! ❝

/ on thaaaat note, I am considering a knight verse AU that like... takes some things from FS and carries them over to this AU but is an AU of Yuri as a knight game based and not movie based. I'm not sure if it'll actually happen but it's a thought.

/ Since I mention in my pinned post that this blog has some changes from canon, I'm going to make a rundown post that I'll be linking in my muse info on my blog. My timeline post covers some of this too and has other things canon to my muse that aren't here because they're timeline based and not direct changes based. I'll update this as needed.
Repede had another owner before Yuri got him in the game. I'm combining this with FS. Thus, Repede would have been basically an infant when he and Lambert ended up with the knights. From there he took to Yuri as he did in the FS drama CD so Yuri was primarily in charge of Repede during his stay with the knights, but he and Flynn raised Repede together as is in line with the game. This means they continued raising him together even after Yuri left.
In the JP version of the game, Yuri says he was with the knights for a short time but doesn't specify how long that time was, so I'm completely yeeting the "three months" dub aspect from this blog. I can't reasonably assume he signed up, took the exams, went into training, went from errand boy to battle status, then went on normal missions and left in the span of three months. So as usual, we're following the JP timeline. Generally anything the dub makes up or actively changes from the original context/tone gets yeeted here.
In the FS drama CD, Flynn is extremely repetitive about Yuri quitting the knights and with his nagging. At least with @mistralxsoul and anyone else who prefers it the following way in threads with my muse, we're toning it down because it just feels absolutely batshit to us how bad it is in the drama CD (it's worse than even the movie itself).
Since the timeline for Yuri and Flynn's knighthood conflicts super horrendously between the novel, FS/FS drama CD and the game, I'm mixing all of it together (primarily because I consider the novel more canon than the FS drama CD). Basically (for my muse), they signed their names and didn't take the exams immediately, but when they eventually did it was at least a couple years later, due to Yuri still having his teen appearance when he signed his name to join in the novel. This is because otherwise, if I average my muse's teen age out to be fifteen/sixteen and his age to be about eighteen/nineteen in the knights, it would mean he'd been with the knights (including training, etc) anywhere from 2-4 years if his sign up was immediately after the novel's events. If they were to sign up and join immediately after the novel timeline, it also makes even less sense because Flynn's attitude in FS and his relationship with Yuri (and remember, the FS drama CD comes before the movie's timeline and Flynn was even worse about Yuri's attitude in the CD) would seem like it literally 180'd overnight.
So basically, to avoid all this insanity, a short summarized timeline for my muse would be: they signed up but didn't join right away, Flynn moved away and was gone for a couple years or so after the events of the novel, both of them changed in personality/behavior drastically in that time, they met up at the exams, they went into training, they got sent to Niren's squad, they were more errand boys than actual knights when they were still super fresh newbies and Yuri was extremely annoyed with that, they were actual knights for a while (I'm going to say Yuri was a knight for at least six months or more, especially if I consider the trajectory of Flynn's behavior toward him in the drama CD through the end of FS), the events of FS were not one straight timeline and things happened between the days etc etc, then Yuri left.
Following the game's drama CDs, Yuri hesitated a lot more when Flynn was injured at Zaude. If not for Flynn nudging him to go after Alexei even while wounded, Yuri wouldn't have left him there.
Following the same drama CDs, it's Raven and Repede who find and look after Yuri when he wakes up after Zaude. That is to say, Repede was already with Raven and lunged when he sniffed out Yuri in his room (super doggo powers). Raven followed Repede in a panic, who ran to Yuri's room upon realizing Yuri was there, and Raven finds Yuri awake but right in the middle of passing back out (the sound is basically Raven's voice being distant with some ringing, so it's from Yuri's point of view that Raven is trying to get him to steady himself but he passes back out). Raven takes care of him from there until he's recovered properly enough to go back. In this time, Rita did investigating and eventually, with the others minus Raven, went to Zopheir after deciding they couldn't dawdle and just wait in their grief. While they're there, Yuri and Raven have headed out after them and show up together and reunite with the rest of the group. Raven has already been updated on what Yuri knows from Duke at this point (Duke saved him as usual, but the drama CD changes come in after that), so the two of them update everyone else.
In the game, there's a skit with Yuri, Flynn and Karol where Yuri mentions "playing in a river", but in the novel, they were actually getting water at the river and the other kids were playing in the river when they got attacked by a monster, fell into the river (Yuri also mentions (I thiiiink in another unrelated skit) that just falling into "a river" was enough to panic him), and Flynn grabbed onto a merman. For my muse, I'm just going with Yuri simplifying the situation to Karol while keeping the novel's event as my muse's canon.
#{ muse info + headcanons }#/ a lot of the timeline post itself is also for me and not y'all LOL but like. if you need to know#differences in interaction with me this stuff is good to know at least bc I don't strictly follow the game canon#I follow a mix of official content and obviously some of it overlaps and retcons other things#as for the dub if you've been here long enough y'all know I hold a huge ass grudge against#how much it changes Yuri's behavior/personality and his attitude toward Flynn#but the three months thing just does not feel reasonable to me on top of the dub just making it up#and it helps SO much to have that free time period for writing#even if we assume he wasn't counting the training to officially join the knights in the dub#three months is... way too short imo and then if I combine the FS drama CD with that#it makes even less sense bc the girls tried to get Yuri to stay when he did actually almost quit#on top of the whole not rly doing knightly things for a while at first#and yeahhhh it's just a fucking MESS to try to cram everything with all this content into three months#also like since I LOOOOVE the teen arc of the novel and that's My Fucking Baby Boy#I don't want to actually change anything from it so I'm just mixing everything together to keep it all#it's like... I love all the official Yuri content and so I want to keep as much of it together as possible#but since it's not always the same people working on the content or bc there's such a time gap between content#things aren't always consistent and when it comes to writing a muse I just. NEED timeline consistency#even if I have to make it myself LMAO. I try to keep as much of the game stuff together as possible#since I know most ppl interacting with me only know the game and possibly the movie#and not all the drama CDs and all the various JP exclusive content#but it's hard to keep it together perfectly when there's so much other content I'm using that has formed my muse#like... my muse exists the way he is bc of all this content you know? and only using the game#would change him a fucking lot in hindsight with the way he thinks and reacts and such#like... there's no fucking way he's not traumatized after the events of the novel in the teen arc there's NO fucking way#it was bad enough that it nearly pushed him to murder when he was a teenager#and he might have actually done it if his foster mother didn't stop him (and end up doing it herself)#so yeah I mean... I do my best to keep him within game context with most people I interact with#but the more you interact with this boy the deeper you're gonna get into muse specific lore lol

In some ways Yuri could tell there was something wrong even without Flynn's admittance. Usually Flynn at least kept it so his appearance never indicated if something was wrong. Even right now though, if anyone else saw him, they would be able to tell instantly. Yuri didn't want to push any buttons, but he also wasn't sure he wanted to just leave Flynn by himself when he was apparently struggling with something.
As far as using sparring to work things out, that was nothing new to them, so Yuri wasn't against it. They fought a lot lately and Yuri hated it, but he didn't want to leave Flynn alone to deal with something by himself. More than against doing this, he was simply concerned at the way Flynn's thoughts seem to change direction again and again. Like he couldn't keep a clear idea of what he wanted to say in his head.
So Yuri sighed, hoping it would relieve any potential tension in his voice. "I don't... really know how to help you make sense of whatever is going on in your head, but... I'd help if I could. If this helps, I don't mind doing this for a while." Even if it got them into a small scolding, that was better than watching Flynn struggle through his personal thoughts that he couldn't even figure out how to speak out properly.
Though Yuri didn't want to say it in this moment, primarily out of fear for saying it wrong or saying it in a way that might once again set Flynn off, he was concerned. Concerned that Flynn wasn't automatically just telling him what was on his mind. Concerned that he couldn't read his thoughts just by looking at him when they'd been able to do that mutually before. Concerned that... Flynn was mentally in some distant place where he couldn't even talk to Yuri himself about those thoughts.
As they sparred though, a couple of things did clear up for Yuri, as he might have been able to guess if he'd really considered that their sparring sessions answered his questions best. First, something was bothering Flynn in a way that caused anger, but that anger wasn't specifically directed at Yuri. It was more like he was trying to fight against something else and was looking at something else. Second, that Flynn's thoughts seemed to carry his "weapon" more than Flynn's mind did.
On a normal day, Flynn's movements didn't look like this. These were more erratic and unhinged than his usual sessions. Normally he was calmer and able to calculate better, but these movements were more like... he couldn't focus. Like whatever was going on in his mind was too distracting to properly keep his mind on the session, instead wandering away from it.
Given how off his movements were, Yuri shouldn't have been surprised when the practice weapon landed just right on his shoulder when his own thoughts about what Flynn was dealing with distracted him. Just right to make him drop his own weapon and wince backward. It probably wasn't intentional, but it was entirely possible Flynn's clouded mind had struck wrong. It hurt, too. Was it just an accident, or... was it subconsciously what he'd done on purpose to Jareth back then...?
As the weapon fell from his hand, his free hand moved to his shoulder as the pain did its rounds right through it. Another indicator Flynn wasn't on his usual mark. A normal session didn't see Flynn use this much force in his swings. In a practice session, he wasn't looking to hurt his partner. The intensity of that swing made Yuri think Flynn really wasn't all that there right now.
Flynn caught the way that Yuri’s eyes glanced over, even if it was just for a second, and then suddenly he was looking away again. Flynn felt his gut twist as he forced his own gaze away as another wave of conflicting emotions raged through his chest. He hated that Yuri kept looking at him like that. Like he was some type of stranger… but at the same time, he really couldn’t fault Yuri for it. He wasn’t the same Flynn that he was when he lived back in the Lower Quarter.
Thinking back, was that Flynn even the real Flynn? Or was he just pretending to be something that he wasn’t in order to feel more accepted in the Lower Quarter? He didn’t want to think that he was just subconsciously pretending to be something he wasn’t… he really wanted to believe that all of the time he spent with Yuri back home was real… but…
What had happened to him? It almost seemed like when he removed himself from the Lower Quarter, he reverted slowly but surely back to how he was as a child, maybe even worse. He couldn’t seem to keep the anger under control and he could barely keep his thoughts straight. The daily comparisons he received to his father, Yuri growing more and more reckless by the hour, still coping with the loss of everything that happened in the Lower Quarter.
It was a lot, of course, but… Flynn should still have control over himself better than this, right? So why did his chest hurt so bad? Why did he feel so out of place in his own body?
Scratching at his own arm for a moment, the uncomfortable feeling stuck with him– seemed to spread even– as he just quietly gestured to Yuri to follow before taking his sword and quietly slipping out of their shared room. Perhaps a spar between the two would help him feel more at ease?  Make him feel more like himself? Maybe it’ll give him something to keep his focus on?
“...We can just spar in the courtyard. It’s close enough.” Plus, if they were caught, it was less likely they’d get into much more trouble than a half-hearted scolding. As he leads the way, he remained quiet for just a moment.
Being out of their room at the very least made Flynn feel… less confined? He was still conflicted as all hell and even now, his mind was screaming at him for breaking curfew like this but sparing with Yuri back in the Lower Quarter always made him feel better after a particularly bad day. Maybe this would help…?
As the two near the courtyard, Flynn does pause, a sudden hesitation appearing on his face again. But what if Yuri didn’t want to spar? Flynn really had just kind of demanded that they spar. And for what? So he could keep running away from whatever was messing with his head? It was foolish, really.
“... I know I forced you out here. Sort of.” Flynn mumbled. Deep breath. And release. He ran a hand through his hair and the conflicted look comes back again as he considered what he wanted to say. “... Probably too late to be saying so but you don’t have to spar with me. It’s just… I don’t know. Something feels wrong and I just… I can’t find what I want to say about it so just…”
Flynn lightly swipes the practice sword in the air. “...This is the only real way I know how to let out how I’m feeling and you’re the only one at my skill level but … I don’t know. Even this feels wrong.”
He was surprised that he could get himself to even say that much at least. He still felt scattered and confused and he was sure he was confusing Yuri as well.

"I had to do what I thought was right."
@voidtouched-blue
Even if Yuri himself didn't have ill will against her, it still made him... uncomfortable. When he'd met her before, she didn't seem threatening so much as skittish. Didn't seem like she was interested in harming humans. To know she thought, even if at the time, that killing humans was the right thing, by now he was just... tired of all that. He didn't want to argue about whether it was right or wrong to participate in the war. He himself couldn't have known how he'd feel had he been older when it happened, because he'd only been a child at the time - about eleven, twelve years old.
Tumblr media
"Aren't you past it? Isn't everyone past that yet? I don't want to hear about this anymore." In a way he felt bad for feeling snippy toward her, but on the other hand... it almost felt like what he'd known of her way back when had been a lie. Her interest in humans and the way she treated him like any other person, when she had really taken part in the war and hated them only a few years prior was almost haunting.
Maybe it wasn't a lie in her mind at the time, devoid of proper memories as it was, but she may not have been so open and understanding with him otherwise. Was that to say, her real self would have hated him back then? Back during a time when... Yuri had been so accepting, understanding, giving...? Was it just a lie, then? If that had been the real her, would she have slaughtered the Lower Quarter?
"I just wanted to know if you were lying to me. To us. When I let you in back then. Not about why you used to kill humans."

●●●●○ | ATTRACTION ●●○○○ | AFFECTION ●●●○○ | INTEREST ●●○○○ | LOYALTY ●●○○○ | TRUST
Attraction: That is a hot man if he ever saw one and he's seen one before. Definitely gets some looks.
Affection: He finds Vicious fun and easy to be around. It's genuinely helpful for Yuri to have him and Kanata around because Yuri has a lot of his old feelings after his condemnation. His personality is mostly dormant for a while, and Vicious is probably the best person to bring it back out. For the most part, he's on the same page as Vicious and agrees with him on a lot of things.
Interest: There's still a lot he doesn't know or understand about Vicious, but seeing someone so chaotic and active spewing half the shit he does does have Yuri's curiosity. The fact that Vicious can give out Blood Sins and that being a power of his but having this attitude does make Yuri want to understand where the power comes from and if Vicious could be someone beneficial to fixing how twisted the world is. Someone chaotic who is learning to have a good heart but has also sees the disgusting habits people have (like the immediate, uncaring condemnation of innocents) makes Yuri hope he'll work out as an ally and not just a temporary fix for Yuri's own problems.
Loyalty: He does have some degree of loyalty to Vicious for giving him a Blood Sin, but his loyalty is low because he doesn't have a real bond with Vicious. It's still shallow and very based on the fact that Yuri didn't really have any other options. At the very least he'd like to know more about Vicious by spending time around him. Vicious has a habit of saving and protecting people and pulling it "it was interesting/fun" card, but Yuri does want to see if there's more to it and more to Vicious.
Trust: It's somewhat low because he doesn't know Vicious enough to truly trust him. He at least trusts Kanata and trusts that Vicious genuinely cares about Kanata, so he doesn't expect Vicious to purposely do anything to get Kanata killed (though he understands from what he's been updated on by the group that Vicious does have a power that could harm everyone that he's still learning to control). He at least trusts that Vicious has the power to actually do harm if he wanted to and sees that generally, he isn't. If he's staying his hand to help Kanata, Yuri presumes there's a reason for that and that there's something worth trusting.

@mistralxsoul
●●●●●● | ATTRACTION ●●●●● | AFFECTION ●●●●● | INTEREST ●●●●● | LOYALTY ●●●●● | TRUST
Attraction: Yuri wants a sixth dot sneaked in. As we know he is very attracted to Flynn's eyes and has been since he was seven. Loves his hair like he has since he was seven. When Yuri was seven, he woke up one day and choose Flynn (all the other boys noticed...). Yuri is very attracted to his appearance, voice and personality! He's just... very deeply attracted to Flynn. Oftentimes he may be seen being fidgety about it because he has uncontrollable stomach fuzzies.
Affection: By the time they were teenagers his affection was already through the roof. When things got rocky, he still had affection and hope that Flynn was still the same as he always was, even if he couldn't understand what was going on. His affection withstood everything that went on between them though, and even at their worst he was still praising Flynn and trying to keep everyone's opinion of him up. He wants everyone else to also see the best sides of Flynn and nothing else, because he knows Yuri can handle the worst sides privately the same way Flynn can handle him and all Yuri's own worst traits. Yuri also likes to spend as much personal and private time as possible with Flynn, because while he likes being with everyone else with Flynn included, when they're alone, they have their own world to be lost in that nobody else can get into. People can see it, but they can't enter it.
Interest: Even if he literally does not care what the knights are doing, he's always interested in what Flynn is doing. Dumb paperwork, too! He'll be nosy sometimes and look at the work just to complain about it and how dumb it is. Since they share, literally, the same interests, it keeps Yuri's interest in Flynn's activities up because he's curious about someone who shares his values and interests. He's also very interested in seeing what kinds of new things they can do together and he always wants to find something fun to do, since "fun" and "Flynn" don't usually... work.
Loyalty: Yuri would... literally do anything for Flynn. Die or kill for Flynn, and anything in between. Even if he thought Flynn was in the wrong, he would never really lose faith in him. Given that they reached their worst and came out of it even stronger, there's nothing that could really break their bond at this point. They'll have struggles sometimes, but Yuri will always go back to Flynn. Even if they were actively fighting, if something happened in that moment and Flynn was in danger, Yuri would still have his back immediately by instinct and no longer even be processing that they were arguing, no matter how bad it was. Being on Flynn's side is Yuri's first instinct regardless of what goes on between them beforehand.
Trust: He's always trusted Flynn, but post canon verse he has no doubts in his trust. Nothing like in the knights or when Alexei was giving his orders and Yuri had doubts and was unsure what he could trust. Sometimes his trust was shaky, but it was still always there and strong, sort of like a deep intuition that at the end of the day, if Yuri was about to die or even get hurt, Flynn would save him no matter how bad things were between them. He also trusts Flynn with their home as the Commandant, even if he wants more time with Flynn. Early retirement calls!

○○○○○ | ATTRACTION ●○○○○ | AFFECTION ●●○○○ | INTEREST ○○○○○ | LOYALTY ●●○○○ | TRUST
Attraction: Not his type. Sorry, Lexi.
Affection: To a point, he has affection. Before everything went down Yuri did at least have some hope of respect for Alexei. Flynn also deeply admired him and for a little while, Yuri really hoped the knights would be set straight by him, but he had his doubt because of how crazy everything was and because knights still got away with so much harmful chaos and nonsense. After everything settled in our Alexei survival verse, he at least has appreciation for the fact that Alexei isn't still insistent that he just "did the right thing", but accepts that he did what he thought was right and acknowledging that it wasn't. If Alexei truly wants to atone, Yuri will give him that chance because the people Yuri dealt with before "like" Alexei didn't care to atone. Their upset at being found out was purely selfish, and their only regret was that their life was in danger. Alexei has potential to go up in the affection section, even if it's going to hard to break into on Yuri's end (especially because the betrayal directly affected Flynn and Raven, so it wasn't just a betrayal that he could've been like oh yeah a knight betraying people what a surprise. It deeply hurt people he loves and that plays a huge role in his stubbornness to forgive).
Interest: If Alexei could really be the type of person he used to be again, then Yuri would like to see that. Right now he isn't sure where Alexei will go, or if he'll just wallow in guilt. Both Raven and Flynn seemed to see something in Alexei that Yuri didn't, and he wants to trust their opinions on what Alexei used to be/could be again, but he's skeptical. He accepts Alexei wanting to atone, and he's interested in getting to know the Alexei that people used to know, but the main barrier is that he's interested in a ghost of Alexei that he can't be sure will be revived. He'll give him the chance, but he's not holding out on expectations.
Loyalty: At the moment, none. It's possible he might gain some along the way, but at the moment, he doesn't feel any sense of loyalty toward him.
Trust: It exists, but mainly because he knows Alexei has enough guilt to act on some things. It's low because he isn't entirely sure what he can trust Alexei with, but if people close to him believe Alexei can come back from everything, he'll give him a chance. If we also consider it from a post thread perspective, Alexei did risk himself to save Yuri's life. Trust exists, but Alexei is in the works.

●○○○○ | ATTRACTION ●●●●● | AFFECTION ●●●●○ | INTEREST ●●●●● | LOYALTY ●●●●○ | TRUST
Attraction: Well, he looks okay as Schwann... Yuri guesses. Not really his attraction type though.
Affection: Raven is like an older brother to him, and Yuri has always been the older sibling to his foster brothers, so it's a very different experience to have someone who can support him from the other side. Raven also knows how to have fun and relax, even if he's not always genuine about it, but that's at least helped Yuri figure out when he's being genuine, even if it's not a perfect spot yet. Raven is one of the few people in his life that he'd be absolutely crushed to lose.
Interest: He likes doing things with Raven and hanging out with him. Sometimes their interests don't really align, but for the most and vast part, it's easy to find ways to hang out with him that don't feel forced, and most interaction is natural.
Loyalty: Yuri will always be on Raven's side now that he knows him. Yuri is as protective over Raven as he is with other people he loves. Whether it's relevant to Dahngrest or Zaphias, if Raven needs support in something, he can always call for Yuri for any help he needs.
Trust: As far as general trust and all that betrayal stuff, Yuri fully trusts him. His only trust issue lies more in what Raven might do with himself and that he may still have doubts here and there. Yuri finds it understandable, but he sometimes still side eyes Raven out of habit and concern.
