the fact that we only have “herculean task” and “sisyphean task” feels so limiting. so here’s a few more tasks for your repertoire
icarian task: when you have a task you know you’re going to fail at anyways, so why not have some fun with it before it all comes crashing down
cassandrean task: when you have to deal with people you KNOW won’t listen to you, despite having accurate information, and having to watch them fumble about when you told them the solution from the start (most often witnessed in customer service)
feel free to chime in i ran out of ideas much faster than i anticipated

I’ve seen Sessrinners feel threatened even by Sesshomaru caring PLATONICALLY about others. They all went into a seething rage when the Yashahime mangaka said he headcanoned Sesshomaru bought Kagome soy-sauce or something (look it up, they made it into a whole #soygate thing) and now they’re trying to revise canon history and are claiming Rin is the only person Sesshomaru ever felt sadness over losing, never mind even Kagura they try and say that he wasn’t even sad over his father’s death (y’know, the guy he was obsessed with and angering about for the majority of his arc?) and that he didn’t care about him or any others at all until he met Rin.
I’ve never seen shippers of any other ship go as far as to claim one half of their ship only cares about the other, wtf is wrong with them?
Your guess is as good as mine, honestly. I don't know why anyone would find one person being incapable of any other kind of relationship or caring in general except in the one narrow case of a single other person romantic - I personally find it odd and creepy. I guess they're taking the "I only have eyes for you" trope to a ridiculous extreme, which might make sense if you have such deep and ingrained insecurity that singular fixation is the only way you can envision true romance.
Not to mention I find the interpretation of the cold, aloof Sesshoumaru suddenly filled with eternal unbridled passion for ANY one person rather far-fetched from the characterization we're given in canon. I have no idea where they can pull THAT from, and it makes no sense in isolation from their desperate need to imagine Sesshoumaru as their Rin's totally devoted lover who would never leave her for someone else like their ex did.

Do you heard Gundam creator criticized Makoto Sakai and Kyoani for lacked sex scenes ?
No, and I can't say it's information that I was particularly invested in. As I said, it's been literally years since I've seen the original Gundam, and I don't even remember that much about it.

Unlike trashime by homophobic writers, Tiger and Bunny were praised for diversity including queer representation and dealing with toxic family members like Lara. The way how Susiwara portrayed Sesshomaru as a toxic parent and Towa was immature unlike Lara
I hope this Tiger and Bunny show becomes popular enough that studios start to take more risks like it, then - I've heard some things about it, and while I'm done with anime for the time being, I think the medium could benefit from going in that direction, as opposed to the Yashahime regressive direction.

is it just me or has the Inuyasha fandom been on a rapid death spiral since S2 of HNY ended?
it wouldn’t surprise me, to be honest. Given how toxic the fandom itself has gotten, and the troubled production of HNY giving us bad writing/animation I wouldn’t be surprised if the fandom just finally dies already.
it would probably be for the best if it just died for a decade or so. There’s way better works than Inuyasha out there more deserving of fans that are criminally underrated.
Looking back at Inuyasha critically, I don’t think the series was half as great as the fandom made it out to be after all these years. it’s a nice time capsule of a series, and I get pretty nostalgic when I hear Change the World, but it’s also something that for me doesn’t have a whole lot of rewatch value as it once did.
Maybe I’m just getting old.
Let’s be honest, if you’re not an InuKag fan, (and I mean it has to be your favourite ship, not one of many), don’t worship the ground Kagome walks on and aren’t still trying to defend Sesshomaru, there’s no place for anyone in the fandom lol.
The homophobia problem is still strong. Attaching an alphabet soup of queer headcanons to your fav characters and trying to make queerness “unproblematic” is a huge modern problem with queer youth and the Inuyasha fandom is no different. Ignoring canonly queer or queer coded characters bc it’s “problematic” is why we get these super oppressive, sanitised takes on pride parades. Y’all aren’t any better, it’s still part of our history, Jakotsu being a gay stereotype and Naraku being a gender non conforming shape shifter are still canon and still part of our identity.
Racism is still present. I will see people saying that everyone’s interpretations are too white, too westernised, not correct enough, then will turn around and create “realistic” versions of the characters that are so disgustingly stereotypical and caricaturised that a 1940’s anti-Japanese propaganda magazine would be proud. Bonus points for East Asian people expressing their discomfort in the replies and getting dog piled. We love to see it.
Sexism haunts this fandom like the ghosts in a Christmas Carol. I won’t get too into this one, the poor treatment of women, the uncomfortable fan service, the double standards, the insensitive approach to male trauma and mental health, because it legitimately makes me too angry, but I will say that the way Kikyo is still treated by this fandom, all for the sin of being The Ex, is fucking DISGUSTING.
Now, all of this exists and has existed for a long time. It’s not even much of a secret. However, when the sequel was announced, most corners of the fandom, including people who were no longer in it, were at least curious and willing to unite again just to see what was happening and maybe get some new content to enjoy.
What we got was “pedophilia is great, bad writing is even better, overworked animators don’t matter and neither do any of you, give us that sweet sweet nostalgia money cuz these lolicons aren’t going to be quite enough to pay all our bills :)”.
The rest is history. Just like the fandom of a once perfectly passable anime that was this close to dying a quiet but dignified death.

I agree with your statement saying that yashamine didn’t lead to sunrise bankruptcy. They were probably going bankrupt even before the show. I feel like yashamine was one last effort for sunrise to make money. That’s why there were doing so much marketing for the manga in hopes that people will buy it. I remember in the first season they kept on tweeting about manga chapters that would “correlate” to the episode. Now looking back I know that it was just them advertising the manga and not “signs” of flip going to happen. They also advertised a lot of inuyasha and Yashamine merchandises. It’s just seemed like the show was created for the sole purpose for them to make money in merchandise. But at last the money was not enough and they went bankrupt.
Indeed, Yashahime was such a brief blip in Sunrise's history that it's much more likely that it had no effect whatsoever than a negative one. Clearly they WANTED it to be a bigger phenomenon on par with Inuyasha, to sell merch mainly, as you said, but they didn't read the room correctly AT ALL.

Are you in the Sailor Moon fandom at all?
Can't say I am. To be honest, I haven't been in many fandoms at all lately, and certainly not any anime fandoms. With their increasing insistence on writing lolicon and child grooming into shows, I have just stopped watching anything anymore that I don't already have on DVD and can be reasonably sure doesn't appeal to those themes. Can't say that Yashahime didn't factor HEAVILY into this decision, frankly.
I'm sure Sailor Moon is okay, a lot of people have grown up with it and I don't hear a lot of these kinds of complaints about it, but I'm rather soured on pretty much ALL anime these days.

Sessrin is so shit even general proshippers & casual Inuyasha fans hate it. Was legit talking to one of these the other day and she admitted Sessrin shipping is incredibly rare in non-IY proship circles and despite being a proshipper she herself would’ve only watched the sequel for InuKag but she immediately peaced out as soon she saw that it wasn’t going to focus on them. But sure Sessrin keep telling themselves the lie that their ship is sooo beloved, and the most popular ship of the IY fandom, meanwhile the majority were literally only here for InuKag and they’re the reason they even bothered to give Trashahime a second glance. 🤪🤭
Rumiko & Sunrise was literally sitting on a goldmine with InuKag and yet they continue to trash and shit over the ship and it’s fans when they were always the main draw to the franchise in the first place, they’re an iconic ship for a reason!
Sessrin is largely irrelevant even among the wider, general proship community. Like they’re not as popular among casuals or even the the Inuyasha fandom like Sessrinners say they are, it’s honestly soo embarrassing the way Sessrinners hype up their shit ship and try to make it sound more popular than it actually is. Nobody in the English-speaking or wider Inuyasha fandom fucking cares, as evidenced by the fact that Yashahime did so poorly it led to both it’s preemptive cancellation and Sunrise’s bankruptcy, literally the only ones who hardcore ship Sessrin is their own little raisin containment corner of crazy hags who stalk and doxx people for daring to insult their self-insert ✨QUEEN ✨Rin or have the nerve to imply Sesshomaru cared about literally anybody else. (not even just shipping him with people other than Rin, simply stating the canon fact that Rin wasn’t in fact the only one he cared about!)
Sessrinners are the Inuyasha fandom’s equivalent of those annoying middle-aged Twilight Moms.
They certainly did their best to create the illusion that S*ssR*n was a foregone conclusion, at the very least. Sunrise and the shippers worked pretty tirelessly to present the pairing as the only logical destination that Sesshoumaru and Rin's relationship could take, but it was a rather poor job done in the end. The shippers' desperation itself was a clear indication that they had spent a majority of their time shipping S*ssR*n trying to argue the same points to people who recoiled at this view of the relationship. If you find yourself insisting that your pairing is obvious and good to most other fans you meet, chances are that it's not that popular. And Sunrise, as I've explained previously, was just writing to the market they tried to create. Unfortunately for them, Inuyasha was too widely popular before the whole lolicon proliferation really took hold in anime, and they weren't able to create the demand for S*ssR*n necessary to make this pairing even a viable BASIS for their "sequel". They shouldn't have bet so heavily on their creepy little hints toward the pairing in the past.
But I do have to give them ONE tiny thing: it wasn't entirely out of nowhere that they would try to give Sesshoumaru a bigger role in a sequel they made, and I think the only reason they didn't make him the central figure was because RT asked them not to center the parents and instead the next generation. S*ssR*n may not have been as popular as either Sunrise nor shippers made it out to be, but Sesshoumaru himself was second only to Inuyasha in popularity (I say "was" because, well, turning him into a child sexual predator really bit into his popularity in the end, lol), and I could hardly find a comment section talking about the Inuyasha series without SOMEONE expressing a desire to see more of him in a spin-off. I would shake my head and laugh at this, because part of Sesshoumaru's appeal comes from his lack of concrete definition, and I knew any narrative that gave him more of a spotlight would end up exposing more of how fundamentally BORING he is.
You've at least got to hand it to Sunrise that they avoided the boring pitfall, only to get caught in the "this character is the actual WORST" pitfall instead. So, props for that, I guess.
I disagree that Yashahime led to Sunrise's bankruptcy, though. I think Yashahime was a hail mary pass at the end of a LONG ROAD of bad decisions that ended up not working out, but it was only the last ditch effort to avoid what was a much bigger fate. Sunrise no doubt had done many things, both in public and behind the scenes, to set up their domino line of a downfall. Not that it's going to mean much going forward with, what is it, Bandai? It's the same shit, different name as far as I'm concerned.
But yeah, overall, I think it's absolutely true that the people who are invested in S*ssR*n give the overall impression of being this fandom's most insufferable members. They don't really care much about any aspect to the series other than how it might be used to argue for their questionable, non-canon ship, and their insecurity is a constant eruption whenever anyone so much as hints at Sesshoumaru's relationships with others. It's absurd and sad, and I'm surprised they haven't all given themselves aneurysms in their apoplectic rage that the rest of the fandom doesn't agree with them yet.

So happy seeing that other Latam anti post, & that I can see a fellow bilingual Latam Anti also trying to make the English speaking antis aware Latam antis exist (not singling any English anti, but..). I tried to explain how we Latam antis just keep to ourselves more, how we're less vocal bc sensible folks are too used to quietly trying to live on amidst all the nonsense in our chaotic countries (which Latam shippers are ONLY a tiny part of!). Be more understanding of this plight of ours, fams!
Frankly, I don't know why Latam shippers are getting such hyper-focus from this particular querent. I recall a while back there was a post detailing the current media climate in Latam countries that could explain why there might be so many shippers coming out of the woodwork in those countries, but it's been quite a long time, and I don't recall seeing Latam shippers being any MORE abusive than shippers from any other place.
In any case, I'm sorry to Latam antis who have to see the strange fixation with shippers from their region and implication that there is something inherent to it that produces angry shippers. Querent needs to lay off and find something else to talk about, because I will no longer be answering any asks regarding specifically Latam Shippers.
