Oh OHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh The Blood Moon is not in relation to the actual lunar eclipse phenomenon which is impossible to force to occur as often as it does in Hyrule but RATHER its in relation to all the dark smog/malice/gloom clouding the air as the ashes of the thousands of monsters across Hyrule pollute the air and tint the light of the moon red since it scatters all of the blue light OHHH IT'S BASED ON REAL LIFE AIR POLLUTION THE WHOLE TIME!! Ok imagine you watch the play Hamlet and then the Shakespeare Company announces a prequel for the events of Hamlet and it's advertised as a heart pounding and desperate adventure that fleshes out the characters you know and loved.

Then when you go watch the prequel, instead of getting a look at the politics and relationships and murders and events that shaped the world and characters you knew in Hamlet you instead were introduced to a time traveling watermelon that saves Hamlet's father in the first five minutes of the show and the rest of the play is dedicated to having all the various characters react to this watermelon before the watermelon then kills Claudius for Hamlet at the end and everybody goes home and has brunch

You're definitely right that Totk's existence is mainly due to Botw's success...which is exactly why I am worried for the writing. I'm still unsure how I feel about Zelda's new spirituality... I definitely need to play the game further to get more context like you said, I am hoping there's still stuff that I am missing concerning her characterization.

The stuff that I value the most with Botw Zelda was that she was a person beyond her spirituality and role to the goddess, so whether or not you interpret her other passions as hobbies or not, they were important in define her as more of a human person with relatability and struggles--and it's those aspects that I'm not quite seeing yet in the game that have me worried. They were hinted at in the beginning but now that I'm running around in the game, and all the pieces I'm finding that let me piece together what's going on with her so far are so focused on spirituality and power and dieties and such. I hope to find more proof of her motivation as I play, cause like you said, her heroism should lay in her ability to use her powers and not the powers themselves--but right now I am getting a lot of New Powers(TM) and magic and a lot less of motivation and character.

My perspective might change when I'm further along though and I am glad that down the line you don't agree with these fears!

On the plus side though, the AoC timeline Tears of the Kingdom would have;

Mipha with 150 years of battle experience

Purah and Robbie experimenting with sheikah tech without fear of death for the past 100 years

No Yiga Clan / Non antagonistic Yiga Clan

The powerhouse that is Battle-Tested Guardian

Terrako, who has the ability to time travel

I mean, it wouldn't be unheard of for a new Link and Zelda to be born 100 years after the last two (ALTTP and ALBW, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks).

Well of course! However, my point is that a new Link and Zelda in the events of Totk, if we say that Botw Link/Zelda die during their lifetime in Age of Calamity, means it would be an entirely new set of circumstances for the beginning of Totk. The "new" Link and Zelda wouldn't discover Ganoncorpse because they would be far younger and might not have any reason or authorization to go there, and the whole...well not to spoil but *situation* with Zelda that goes on in Totk would also be difficult to replicate since it seems a lot of the stuff that she orchestrates and does is dependent on her relationship to her powers and influence as the princess, as well as her deep bond with Link
