One final mission
Darcy POV
I was super nervous about being alone with him after that dream. And yet here we were, me still in bed and him sitting in the chair beside me.
"So a Dream huh? What was it about?"
"Can't really remember..." I lied.
"C'mon, you told them why cant ya tell me?" He asked with a coy smile.
"I don't know what you're talking about.." I crossed my arms and looked away.
Bucky then looked at something that had been scribbled on a napkin.
"Who's booky?"
"No one important!"
"Sure... anyway how ya feeling?"
"Better, still a little sore but I'll manage. Hey uh do you know who brought me back?"
"No, no I don't." He said
And I have to admit, it disappointed me that it wasn't him...
"Is there anything I can do for you Barnes?" I asked feigning annoyance.
"Yeah I just wanted to thank you for looking out for Steve while I was away..." he spoke softly.
Bucky's POV
I admit I feel ashamed lying to her about bringing her back. But whatever this is, this feeling, it can't go any further. This is a war. And people die everyday, giving their life for their country. I couldn't afford to grow close to someone who might die tomorrow or the next day, or the day after. I can't allow myself to be broken by sentimentality.
This is a war. And there is no guarantee of anyone coming out of this in one piece.
(A/N: A wee bit of foreshadowing)
Whatever this feeling is, there is no room for it in a world full of war. Hence the name World War II.
I had to keep my heart safe and most of all hers.
"Is there anything I can do for you Barnes?" She said sounding annoyed.
"Yeah I just wanted to thank you for looking out for Steve while I was away..." I spoke softly.
"No problem, it was my instincts, and I do care about him too ya know."
"Yeah well, now that I'm back, he doesn't need you anymore. You don't have to worry about him. In fact your better off without either one of us. So you can go back to your pack or your family or whatever you wanna call it, and leave us alone." I said coldly.
I really didn't mean anything I just said, but I have to do what must be done to keep her and everyone else's heart's safe. Hell I may be tough and put on a 'I don't care' act, but in reality I do, damnit! I care to much and that's why I have to distance myself from her.
Darcy's POV
His words hurt like knives and somehow I knew deep down he was right... no one needed me here, no one wants me here either. I'm just a burden to them. And maybe... maybe my mother was right... maybe there's no place for us in the human's world. Maybe we should just stay in the dark, away from society. Away from others. Love only makes us weak in the end. That's what my brother would say isn't it? Especially after Emmogene passed away... he was broken and it took it him a while to even get back on his feet.
Yeah Bucky's right. Maybe I should go back to the pack. But would they even accept me? I mean my mother forbade me to do this and yet what did I do? I did it...
No I'll just go back to being a lone wolf... yeah it's for the best...
"You know what Barnes your right. Just give me a few days and I'll be out of your way..." I said with as much determination as I could muster.
At that he walked out and into the hallway.
I'm starting to doubt myself. Am I really meant to lead the pack? I mean lately I just seem so weak... I... would my father even be proud?
No. He wouldn't. He'd want me to be evil?... right? I just don't know anymore...
-meanwhile in the pack-
"What do you mean you lost her scent?! We've been looking for her for over 3 years! I want my daughter back! My Darcy!" Said Joanne.
"Mom it's gonna be okay I promise." Iris said.
"Don't worry I have my best scouts looking for her!" Said Alexander.
While Darcy was away things progressed. They now had a small society of Shaydes at their disposal. Some had packs and some didn't. They were able to shift all the same. But still the only person who had the power to turn people was Joanne. She had turned some people into Shaydes due to the fact she was getting lonely. She's not selfish. She did give them a choice. A choice to become one of them or to forget ever seeing or learning about Shaydes and go on with their lives. Statistically speaking, 3 out of every 10 humans they encountered, accepted the offer. Some even went off on their own afterwards. Thus beginning a new line of legends for the supposed 'werewolf'.
"Mom I'm getting a signal from Darcy. She's thinking about us! She's somewhere near Germany?!" Iris said in a panic.
"Why would she be there?!" Joanne shouted startling several others around her.
"Your guess is as good as mine" Alexander said.
-back to Darcy-
Darcy was getting out of bed and noticed some clothes sitting on top of a table.
'To Darcy, From Peggy,
Figured you could use some new clothes, try them on!'
Darcy tried them on and they were a perfect fit. She then walked out of the room after taking care of her hygiene.
She then found herself down another hallway when she bumped into Steve.
"Oh hey Darcy, I was just looking for you. We have another mission in a week. Apparently Hydra needs Dr. Zola for something very important. The mission will be in the mountains and we will be boarding a train. Are you fine with that?" Steve said informing her of the upcoming mission.
"Yes." She nodded and headed back to her room. She stay holed up in there until the day of.
—————————————————-
Half a week later-
I was in my room packing my backpack and utility belt.
2 sets of clothes✔️
Soap✔️
Matches ✔️
Food✔️
Money ✔️
And the necessities... ✔️
All set for the journey back to Brooklyn.
I began to break down. God! I'm such a freakin mess! I'm supposed to be an alpha and yet here I am acting like a fucking omega. Omegas are great and all but alphas lead the pack.  And lately I haven't been acting like an alpha. Maybe Ophir got it wrong. Maybe he read my presentation wrong?
Wait! That's it! I didn't start acting like an omega until...
Until I met Bucky... huh...
What the hell is that supposed to mean?! And what does that have to do with my presentation?!
I groaned aloud. Suddenly I heard a knock at the door.
"Come in..." I said siting on the edge of the bed with my elbows on my knees and my hands over my face.
"Darcy are you alright?" Peggy Asked.
"Yeah. No. I.. I don't know anymore!" I said launching my self do that my back was on the bed and I looked like I was about to make a snow angel with blankets.
She giggled. "What's wrong? You know you can talk to me."
"I'm supposed to be an alpha!"
"And?"
"I'm acting like an omega!"
"And that's a bad thing because?"
"Omegas don't lead the pack! Alphas do! My mother will be disappointed and my father, biologically speaking, will be infuriated if it turns out Ophir got my presentation wrong!"
"So what?! Who cares what you father thinks, or your mother as long as your happy that's all that matters."
"I know it's just..." I sighed, "In our culture you could say I'm a princess and the only one next in line for the throne. Only alphas are allowed on the throne. You see where I'm going with this? It's not about me! It's about leading my people into prosperity and success! To keep them safe!"
"Ah now there is the root of the problem. You feel too much pressure on your shoulder, that don't focus on what YOU want, what you need to focus on is yourself. Because if you're not healthy and happy your people won't be either!"
"Wow Peggy, sounds like you should be the leader of the pack, not me!" I laughed.
"No I couldn't besides I'm needed here."
"You're right you are needed here." I said.
"I know..."
"Unlike me, no one needs me here I'm just another burden on someone's shoulders..." I said hoping she couldn't hear me.
"WHAT?! You couldn't be more wrong! We do need you! Why would we send you on a mission if we didn't?!"
"I don't know? To make me feel useful?" I groaned in annoyance as to why I was not being treated like what I am.
A burden on everyone's shoulders.
"I'll do this one last mission okay? Then I'm gone..." I sighed in resignation.

Dreams of Booky
Still in the room Howard had prepared for Darcy, she had just finished her breakfast and was laughing at something Steve said.
His face was all flustered and red. He couldn't seem to look her in the eye. Darcy, for one, couldn't help but think it was cute. He was so innocent. Peggy had whispered in her ear, as to what Steve thought fondue was. At that Darcy burst into another fit of giggles.
Peggy looked to Steve and Steve looked back as if confirming that they shared the same thought.
"So... Darcy, what were you dreaming about?" Peggy said.
Darcy immediately stopped laughing and grimaced.
"Oh God, please tell me I didn't sleep talk!" She groaned.
"Uh you didn't sleep talk?" Steve said as if confirming her suspicions.
"Tell us! Please Darcy! It must have been a good one! My mother used to tell me 'Peg, when somebody is talking in there sleep, they must be having a damn good dream'."
"Well yeah, kinda sorta."
"What do you mean kinda sorta?" Steve Asked
"Was it a good dream or not?!" Peggy said with a smile tugging at her lips. "Well? Don't leave us in suspense any longer!"
"FINE!" Darcy groaned out and mumbled under her breath. "It was about me and Peggy talking about our um, love interests... and about how I saw a girl all over my man in my dream. I was fuming and telling Peggy about it."
"Well who's this mystery man? Hmm?" Peggy said with a knowing smile.
"Umm it's uh no- nobody special... he's uh.. in the 107th infantry." Darcy said fumbling with her fingers, looking down at her hands.
"Is it Dernier?" Steve Asked.
"No" Darcy replies.
"What about Dum Dum?" Peggy Asked.
"No! He's way too old for me!!!" She softly shouted.
"Umm is it Barnes?" Peggy insinuated.
Dead Silence was all that they were met with as realization dawned on Peggy's face.
"Oh my God! It is! It is Bucky isn't it?! I knew it! Howard owes me three dollars!" She shrieked in excitement.
Just then Howard, himself walked in.
"What the hell did I just walk into?!"
Howard looked at Steve for an answer. He got none.
Steve shrugged awkwardly as if to say, 'I don't know man, I don't understand girls!'
Howard sighed and said to Darcy and Peggy. "Okay start from the beginning..."
-5 minutes later-
"Pay up stark!" Peggy said with a smirk holding out her hand to receive her dues.
"Fine Fine... here" he said pulling out a wad of cash and counting 3 dollars and handed it to her.
"So Barnes, is it? What's so special about him?" Howard asked.
"Well you have to know him personally for that." Darcy smiles recalling how often Bucky has to save Steve. How charming he was when hitting on the ladies. How protective he was of those he cared for. The way he held his head high. Always looking out for the little guy. Never backing down from a fight. Helping Darcy when she was in her wolf form after that night in the alley.
She sighed as if I'm a daydream.
"Uh Darcy?" Steve said snapping her back to reality.
"Hmm? Yeah?" She asked slightly out of it.
"I'll ask again," Howard smirked shaking his head. "What's so special about Barnes?"
"Well he's certainly good looking, charming, sweet..." she started.
Steve gave her a look that said, 'that's my best bud you're talking about. You'd better like him for more than his looks!!!'
Darcy giggled and rolled her eyes. "Of course there's more to him than that.
Like how protective he is of Steve, how thoughtful he is, how he doesn't back down, he stands up for what he believes in. He's very caring, and I bet deep down under that tough exterior, he's just a big teddy bear waiting for the hug of his life!" She squealed the last part.
Steve had a look of pure shock written on his face.
"Aww!" Peggy awed.
Howard burst into laughter.
And right when you think he couldn't laugh any harder, Bucky comes in amid all the commotion, and Howard literally falls to the floor in a fit of giggles. Bucky just stands at the entrance, staring at us as though we were monkeys playing with a lion's teeth.
"What the Hell is going on here?" He grumbles under his breath as he begins walking toward them. But Darcy catches it.
"What's it look like, Barnes?" She smirked.
"Like I just walked into a zoo where they let the animals walk free..." he said lowly but loud enough for everyone to hear him.
Finally Howard's laughter died down, and he got up from the floor. He dusted himself off and cleared his throat.
"Well, none of you saw that. That was completely unprofessional of me and it DIDNT happen, right? Right." He said.
We all laughed at him, except Bucky who was still quite confused as to what was going on.
"Okay so why was Stark, here, laughing his ass off?" Bucky Asked.
"I was not! What did I just say? None of you saw that."
"Darcy was just talking about a Uh dream she had..." Steve said clearing his throat and avoided looking Bucky in the eyes.
"Sure punk, like I'm gonna believe that. Mrs Carter What's really going on here?"
"Like Steve just said. Talking about a dream and Darcy shoved a biscuit in Steve's mouth when he warned us about our bad language." She laughed pulling it off flawlessly.
"See punk wasn't so hard was it? You just didn't want to tell me you got fed and man handled by a girl." Bucky said crossing his arms and smirking.
"Uh well, erm... I've got uh plans to umm make! Yeah! Uh y'know taking down Hydra! One facility at a time!" Steve said making his getaway.
"Yeah I should probably make sure the Colonel didn't shoot any of the soldiers for being annoying." Peggy said following behind Steve.
"And I've got a top secret device that needs working on! See ya!" Howard playfully he saluted us as he walked away.
Leaving me. And Bucky.
Alone...

Waking up, langage, and biscuits?
Darcy's POV
I awoke to bright lights above me and voices muddled together. The voices got louder and louder and my head was hurting like a howler. (We call howlers, a wolf migraine. Much worse than humans because of the fact that we have superior senses.) It didn't let up and soon became unbearable. I couldn't orientate myself. Which was worse. I didn't know where I was, who I was with, or how long I was unconscious.
I didn't know what form I was in. Which was also bad, because if I was unconscious when I shifted back, I'm most likely naked. When I am conscious however, I can shift back with clothes. It just takes concentration. I heard a faint ringing in my ears.
I let out a growl and internally yelled, 'SHUT UP!'
The voices stopped and the light dimmed. Only one voice started speaking.
"Darcy? How are you? Are you feeling any pain anywhere?" It was a masculine voice.
"Where am I? Who are you, and how long was I out?" I said boldly still unable to open my eyes.
"I'm Howard stark. Remember? And my friends, Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers, and James Barnes. Also your friends..." The man said.
"Where am I? And where's Stevie? Where's my captain?!" I yelled.
"I'm right her Darcy. Right here." He said.
I could feel him make his way by my side and he grabbed my hand to hold.
"Where am I?" I asked patiently.
"Your in my tower." Howard said.
"Why can't I open my eyes?" I asked unsure of the situation.
"We are working on that as we speak Darcy. Don't worry any minute now you should be feeling able to. The drugs we gave you to get you better may have had this affect on you." Howard explained to me.
I heard the sound of someone moving Swiftly in my direction.
"Who's that?!" I panicked.
"I told you buck, to be subtle!" Steve whispered shouting at him.
I could barely understand anything happening. It was all so unusual. I had never been in a situation like this before.
"Okay try opening your eyes now, Darcy." Howard said.
I tried to open them but the weight of them felt too much. I tried again, I felt them flutter and shift. Once more, I felt them flutter and my eyes snapped open. At first I saw nothing but pitch black. Then everything came into view. It was blurry but soon it cleared. I could see Howard standing by a monitor, Peggy at the end of the bed, Steve sitting in a chair, still holding my hand, and Bucky who was standing on my other side looking me straight in the eyes.
"Your- your eyes.... they're..." Steve started.
"They're what?!" I asked anxiously.
"They're red..." Howard said staring at me.
"Take a picture it'll last longer Stark!" I smirked.
"Why are you so calm about this?!" Peggy asked.
I shrugged. "Something like this was going to happen sooner or later."
"What do you mean?" Steve Asked.
"My father... He..." I started then looked at Bucky apprehensively.
"Go on, Darcy we won't judge you." Howard said.
"You say that now, but once you know the truth.... you won't be thinking that then." I said.
"We won't judge you Darcy, trust me." Steve said his hand tightening around mine.
I sighed, "My father is the literal Devil."
Steve laughed. I glared at him not understanding how he could laugh at this.
"What's funny?!" I asked.
"I'm sure your dad isn't that bad!" Steve smiled.
"No I mean it He is satan." I then went into full detail about my past and heritage. "And that's my life up to now"
"Wow you did all that to get to Steve?" Howard Asked.
"Is that all you got out of that whole thing?!" I laughed so hard my sides hurt.
Peggy backslapped his arm with a smirk.
Bucky huffed and Steve asked, "That is... just... wow! I can't believe it."
"Well believe it Soldier, I wouldn't be here today if it weren't." I chuckled at his look of awe.
"Alright, alright enough questions!" Peggy said pushing Howard out, then pulling Steve my the wrist towards the door. Steve of course allowing her. She came back and just stood in front of Bucky, with her arms crossed and an eyebrow raised. She was waiting for him to make his way out the door.
Once he did, she turned back to me and said, "Get some rest! You deserve it after the couple of days you've had."
"Thanks Peggy..." I mumbled halfway back to sleep already.
-the next morning-
3rd POV
Peggy had just came back into the room Howard had set up for Darcy. The monitor going steady, her pulse was as normal as could be expected, and she seemed to be getting some good rest. Peggy set a tray of breakfast on the bedside table.
The tray contained a cup of milk, scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese grits, with two biscuits and white gravy. And in case Darcy didn't like or want the milk, she had a side choice of sweet tea.  Peggy didn't often go to such lengths for one's comfort but Darcy was a different case.
For one she had been through a hell of a lot. Two she had been injured pretty badly. Three having to through all of the things she did within the past month was extremely stressful. Four she was like a little sister to Peggy.
So of course Peggy was going to "baby" her while she was still recovering. Steve came in next causing Peggy's head to whip around to the sound of his footsteps. Peggy our a finger to her mouth motioning him to be quiet. At first he didn't understand, but then Peggy point to his shoes. And a look of realization dawned his face.
He moved carefully as to not wake her from her peaceful slumber. And sat down in the chair that was positioned on her left. It was quiet between the two. Until Darcy murmured something in her sleep.
"Mm no wah mon! Hez mein. Booky, ish mein!" She mumbled.
Peggy snickered slightly having an idea as to what she was saying. Steve looked up from Darcy's face to look at Peggy in mild amusement. He raised a brow asking what was funny. Peggy motioned her hand as a 'I'll tell ya later' kind of movement. Steve nodded.
"Pegsy wuh ooh mehn booky lick meh too..." She murmured, a groggy whine escaping her lips as she turned over. She was not facing Peggy.
Peggy's face went white as a ghost as she thought they had awoken her, only to find out she was still dreaming.
A few moments later a third sound of footsteps were heard by the duo. They both jerked their heads up to find Bucky standing at the door. His hair disheveled and his eyes focused on the body laying on the bed. He began to move in closer to see what all the commotion was about.
"Booky no... it.... ickles..." she whimpered.
Bucky's expression went slack as he couldn't believe what he was hearing. Darcy. Laughing! At whatever he was doing in her dream. Not to mention HE WAS EVEN IN HER DREAM!!!
His eyes went wide and his face burned red. Peggy slightly snickered once more, earning a glare from Bucky. Bucky huffed in frustration and marched his way quietly back out the door.
Peggy and Steve looked at each other struggling to keep in their laughs. Suddenly a groan was hear by the young woman lying in bed. The duo's eyes snapped back to her sleeping form to find her hand resting over her forehead, and mumbling.
"Who turned on the lights?..." she asked groggily.
Steve and Peggy just stared at her not knowing if she was awake or still sleep talking.
"I said who turned on the lights?" She said again a little clearer. "Peggy? Steve? I know it's you. Your scent is way to strong for you to be elsewhere."
Peggy gently got up making her way to the bedroom lights and turning them off. When she went back to her seat she had turned a dim lamp bulb on instead.
Darcy sighed with relief. "Better... so much better... okay when I open my eyes I better find myself in some appropriate clothes, or I'm going to murder Howard myself."
Peggy couldn't help but laugh out loud this time. Steve's face had turned into a tomato. Darcy fluttered her eyes open, taking in the image before her.
Steve seemed to be shuffling around and his face was looking down at his feet. His face being a total red mess. Peggy was holding her sides as laughter shook her. Darcy smiled at the sight. Then the sudden smell of breakfast hit her nose. She bolted up straight in bed. And looked in the direction of the smell.
Darcy moaned in appreciation as the first bite of eggs hit her taste buds. She quickly chewed and swallowed, turning to face Peggy.
"Thank you so much Peggy. You must be a goddess cuz this food is just so damn divine!" She said digging back into her meal. (Yes she's civilized with her eating okay?!)
Steve mumbled under his breath, "language...."
Darcy looked up at him when he said it. She grinned and grabbed a biscuit and shoved it into his mouth.
"If I hear one more word about bad language coming from you captain, I'll find something else to shove in your mouth than delicious food!" She said and went back to eating.

Winter Ruins
               -Peggy's POV-
I was so happy to see them back safe and sound. However some needed medical attention, and others needed more rest than anything else. I saw Steve leading the men, and Sergeant Barnes at his side. I could feel my smile widen when Steve looked up at me. A smile graced his features as well.
Most of the 107th infantry had come back, but their was one particular person I was looking for.
Darcy.
Steve came up to me grinning from ear to ear. Barnes coming right behind him.
'So this was the man Darcy said she had a Soul Bond with.'
"Hello Captain." I smiled. "Sergeant Barnes" I nodded in his direction.
"Ma'am" Barnes nodded back.
"Peggy." Steve acknowledged.
"Where is Darcy? I don't see her anywhere." I whispered to Steve not knowing if Sergeant Barnes knew of the current situation with her.
"She... She was shot and refused to let me carry her back to base. I argued with her until a grenade was thrown overhead. It didn't hit us but it was a close call." He said grimly.
"Does Sergeant Barnes know of the current situation? Of Darcy's disposition?" I whispered so that only he could hear me.
"Yes. He does. He is still having a hard time processing the information, unfortunately." Steve said looking at Barnes out of the corner of his eye.
"How do you feel about this Sergeant?" I asked aloud.
"Umm well... I'm still confused about the whole ordeal but she was very brave, and she did what she did for her country. I have to say that takes guts, for a woman." He said, after a moment his eyes widened, "Not that I'm insinuating anything! I meant no offense by that!"
I silently laughed. "None taken Barnes, Now to the medical tent, Soldiers!" I saluted them.
"Yes ma'am!" They responded before turning to do as I had ordered.
I couldn't stop thinking about Darcy. What had happened and if she was okay. I knew something was wrong. Yes, there was the obvious reason, that Darcy hadn't come back with the two. But there was something else as if it were pulling at the back of my mind.
There were sudden images coming to my mind and I couldn't decipher them. It was like a Code I couldn't break.
-the images-
Snow covered the ground.
Smoke filled the air.
Fire was everywhere.
No one to be found.
A white wolf walked through the fire.
The wolf's eyes had lost their original color. The irises of its eyes, were full of darkness.
They looked almost Demonic. When the wolf had made its way to the forest surrounding it. It howled, and it's eyes went back to normal.
It ran for miles.
Then collapsed from exhaustion.
Not before marking its surroundings with a hidden message.
-end of images-
I had returned to reality and found the Colonel standing in front of me. He seemed to be yelling at me and barking orders.
But the hidden message from those images were taking all of my focus.
I tried to remember the hidden message specifically, but I came up empty-handed.
-Darcy's POV-
I had just sent an encrypted message to Peggy along with images. Hopefully she figured it out in time. I had made a circle around me with magic I hadn't known I possessed. It was written in old runes.
(A/N: I used the app MediBang and google images to put this together. The Runes are supposed to be carved in the trees and Darcy is passed out in the center of it! Just to let you know! Please don't use this elsewhere and if you do, make sure to give credit where credit is due! Plz and Thx!)
All I knew was the feeling of complete and utter exhaustion. The feeling of being powerless. I knew that if someone didn't get my message, I would not last long. I used the last of my strength to let out an ear-piercing howl. Hoping, pleading, praying that anyone or wolf would hear me and somehow be able to help.
Maybe my brother, although it's been a few years since I last saw him, would come find me. Maybe Peggy could decipher my message. Maybe just maybe I'd die... alone... here in the cold of winter. I soon felt tiredness tug at my eyes. I sighed once more as I let my eyes drift closed.
-Bucky's POV-
That girl. Darcy. I couldn't get her out of my mind. Her begging us to leave her, to save ourselves. Her telling us to go, that she'd find her way back to us.
But I also knew what Hydra was capable of. Seeing as how Dr. Zola... he.. he did something to me. Something I can't explain. But with just that little dosage of Hydra's capabilities, I knew they'd be one hell of an opponent.
How did I explain to Steve what had happened in Zola's lab? Was I some sort of experiment? I just know that whatever happened, I won't let it change who I am. Steve, well.... he was another topic my mind wouldn't let go.
Steve had become Captain America now, he wasn't the small asthmatic kid from Brooklyn anymore. Always getting into fights and getting his ass handed to him.
Well he was still getting into fights and coming from Brooklyn. But the thing is, he no longer needs me. He no longer needs me to save his behind, for me to introduce him to the ladies, he didn't need my help and he certainly didn't need me.
Steve and I had been best friends since elementary school. We had each other's backs, as much as we could due to Steve and his asthma. He was like my kid brother, y'know? My sister might have even had a slight crush on him. Not that she'd ever admit it. Rebecca was always so girly though. I knew she'd be good for him but Steve just refused to be with hardly any of the ladies I'd introduced him to. He was blind to my sister and eventually Rebecca was forced to move on.
But again even after all the things that are on my mind, it all comes back to her. Darcy. The one girl who had made my heart pound out of my chest the very first time I laid eyes on her.
And now that I think about it, she had personality that's for sure. Even as a wolf she was protective of Steve and I. She was the type to fight first, ask questions later. When it came to her friends and family. But the one thing I couldn't figure out was, why did she fight her own family over Steve? Especially when her family is her pack. Aren't wolves supposed to stick with the pack and follow their alpha?
If so, why did she go against them? For Steve? What had happened in that time space for her to have gotten so protective of Steve. Not to mention she came to his rescue when that punk had been beating Steve up.
We were currently in the medical tent, my thoughts had consumed me so thoroughly that I hadn't heard a word Steve had said.
"Hello? Buck? You in there?" Steve said moving his hand back and forth in front of my face.
"What punk?"
"You spaced out on me there Bud."
"What were you saying Steve?"
"Just that, I feel like we shouldn't have left her. I should have carried Darcy. I mean it was my fault she was there in the first place." Steve sighed running a hand through his hair.
"Me too punk, me too. Even though I was mainly focused on getting you outta there. I still feel bad." I hugged looking at my hands, all the while fumbling them.
Just then Agent Carter came in the tent in a hurry. She looked shaken up and out of it.
"Can we help you ma'am?" I asked her.
"Yes, in fact you can. Both of you. What say you, to another rescue mission?"
Steve smiled and said, "when do we leave?"
"Now. It's more of a retrieve, than a rescue, but if we wait any longer we may have to rescue her." She said smirking back at us as she walked ahead, exiting the tent with us following her trail.
We arrived at Starks personal tent.
"Stark! A word if you please!" She said outside of his tent.
"What? What is it?" He said coming out with shaving cream on his face and a razor blade in his hand.
"We need two of your best snowmobiles."
"And why is that?"
"Don't you notice anyone missing from the group?" She asked gesturing to herself, Steve, Stark, and I.
"Umm no?"
"Darcy didn't come back with them! We know her location but we have to get there quick. Chances are, soon we won't be the only ones to know her location. And if she gets in the hands of Hydra, do you want that on your shoulders?!" She huffed in annoyance.
"Oh uh right away, Agent Carter." He went back into his tent, and came back wearing a shirt and the shaving cream having disappeared.
He led us to a cartel of snowmobiles.
He picked out two of his finest and gave us the keys. Agent Carter Keyed in The coordinates of Darcy's location and soon after we were ready to go.
"Be careful soldiers. And come back in one piece, understood?" She asked mainly looking at Steve.
"Yes ma'am." I nodded with my signature smirk.
Good for you Steve, good for you! My best friend's finally got himself a girl.
"Will do Peggy, will do!" Steve said and with that we were off.
Speeding through the brisk cold air, making our way to our destination. I must admit I'm still quite angry at Darcy for lying to me about who she is. But that's no reason to ignore her safety. However she had her reason for not sharing who she truly was. My mind can't help but recall the first time we met all those years ago. She had saved Steve from a beating and taken it for him. Thankfully she only came out with a cut paw. It also explains why she was so tame and seemingly domesticated. I still didn't like her, but I do understand her reasoning.
Something must have happened for Steve to feel so close to her this much. Yeah she saved his ass a couple of times but that didn't seem to be why they were so close. I just don't understand. Steve refused to tell me anything about her other than what I already know. He said that she would tell me once we got her back.
"Bucky, you go right, I go left. We circle around to make sure we don't have incoming. Then you check on her and load her up. While I keep the perimeter!" Steve yelled over the engines of the snowmobiles.
"Gotcha! Don't do anything stupid!"
"Notta chance!" He called back.
We then split up and went different directions. I circled the perimeter once, twice, three times before I stopped the engine. And approached the area. It was a snowy clearing surrounded by trees. There were small corner stones in the shape of a circle. The trees around it corresponding with the stones. Each one having a different symbol on it. I carefully entered the runed circle of stones. I immediately felt a soft pain pulling at my skull. Images, flashes, of things I couldn't comprehend.
I saw a little girl with brown hair and beautiful forest green eyes. She was running in a forest, laughing as if she were being chased. I heard another laugh. This one sounding like a young boy. Suddenly the perspective changes. I'm seeing through her eyes. It's a young boy looking to be a few years younger than her.
"Come on Nate! Catch me if you can!" She laughed looking back briefly before turning back around continuing her run.
"I'm gonna get you Ray!" The little boy laughed.
Then the scenery changed. They were a couple years older now. Another child had joined them. She had red orange hair and hazel/blue eyes. She had a few freckles here and there. The mood of the scene was grim.
"I just can't believe it. Darcy.... she's gone... she's not coming back." Said the red head.
"Iris don't say that we don't know for sure if she's dead!" The boy said.
"DONT YOU THINK I KNOW THAT?! DONT YOU THINK I KNOW THAT AUNT MAGGIE ISNT COMING BACK!" Darcy yelled at them, tears bursting through her eyes.
The girl had opened her mouth to speak but the scene changes once more.
Now there she was, a teenager, Darcy standing on a hill overlooking a town that had been set ablaze. Her brother Nate, putting his hand on her shoulder.
"There's nothing you could have done. You didn't know..."
"I may not have known what I was capable of, but it was still I, who did it..." she said over her shoulder as she looked back to the town. Tears streaming down her cheeks as the town was burning and smoke filled the air.
The girl she had called Iris came into view and said, "Come on Darcy, you didn't know... you were scared. That man was going to... to... hurt you. You couldn't have known that a scream would cause such destruction......"
Iris hugged her from behind.
The scene changed again and Darcy was walking down what seemed to be the streets of Brooklyn. She was an adult now and she seemed to be looking for someone. The sound of grunts and smacks could be heard from a back alley nearby. She has decided to go investigate. She saw Steve getting his ass handed to him. She huffed and shook her head.
She then shifted and began stalking her way to the alley. She came out of the shadows and scared the guy off. It was like I could hear her thoughts.
She looked into Steve's eyes. And something happened. It looked like a streak of electricity had tethered her heart to Steve. Like some kind of bond. Then she saw me come out and into the alley. She growled at me. And then she looked into my eyes. She immediately stopped and just stared. There seemed to be good flecks of dust beginning to swirl around us as I came closer. It was like only she could see it. The stars seemed to reflect in my eyes. As she gazed into them.
Her heart began shining gold as I got as close to her as I could. Her mind seemed to connect two and two. As two thoughts ran through her mind. She had just cast a shadow and found her light-haven at the same time.
I had come back to reality with a sharp gasp, still trying to decipher what had just happened. I heard soft winters coming from her. I soon went back to the task at hand. Getting Darcy out of there and into safety.
I lifted her into my arms carefully. And placed her in my lap between me and the snowmobile. I signaled to Steve that we were ready to head out. He signaled back saying 'copy that'.
I smiled as I saw her tail wag slightly at being in my lap, as we left behind those Winter Ruins....

Risky Rescue
-Steve's POV-
By late afternoon we had made it to interior of the US. camp and made our way to Colonel Phillips tent. A Corporal types. At a desk across the tent, Colonel Phillips signs a stack of letters. I barrel in, Peggy walking right behind me.
"Well, if it isn't 'the starspangled
man with the plan.'What is your plan exactly?" Said the Colonel.
"Azzano. I want to see the casualty
list." I said sternly.
Colonel Phillips points to the RANK INSIGNIA ON HIS COLLAR.
"You don't get to give me orders,
'Captain.'!" The Colonel Phillips said glaring at me.
"I don't need the whole list. Just
one name. Sergeant James Barnes from the 107th" I said with a sigh.
"You and I are going to have a conversation later that you won't enjoy" the Colonel said directing his words toward Peggy.
"Just tell me if he's alive, sir. B-
A-R" I started but was interrupted by the Colonel.
"I know how to spell Rogers." He said with a blank look on his face.
Peggy seems to see my resolve as she turns to the Colonel.
"Sir, Rogers is only on loan to the
USO. Officially, he is still SSR." She says.
Phillips stares at  me. Finally, he relents.
"Barnes?" Asked the Colonel.
I nod. Phillips picks up a thick sheaf of letters, leafing through the first few.
"I've signed more condolence letters
today than I'd care to count. But the name does sound familiar. I'm sorry." He sighed.
I feel my face pale, Phillips' words sinking in. I stare at a map of Austria on the wall, alongside aerial photos of a remote facility.
"What about the others? You're
planning a rescue mission?" I asked slightly taken aback at what this man's dictionary apparently forgot... 'No man left behind'.
"Yeah. It's called winning the
war" he grunted out.
"But sir- if you know where they are-." I started.
"They're thirty miles behind the lines. Through some of the most
heavily fortified territory in Europe. We'd lose more men than we'd save. I don't expect you to understand that, because you are just a chorus girl."
" Think I understand pretty well sir." I said determined now more than ever.
"Then understand it somewhere else.
If I read the posters right, you've got some place to be in a half- hour."
"Yes sir, I do." I said with one place in mind. Austria,
Deciding I'd had enough of his attitude and determination to not do the right thing. Thirty miles behind enemy lines.
I whistled for Darcy as she let out a low growl at the Colonel, she followed behind me a few seconds later.
We were going on a rescue mission.
        -The next day mid afternoon-
"The Hydra camp is in Krausberg,
tucked between two mountain ranges. It's a factory of some kind." Peggy said sitting across from me as we looked at a map. Howard leans back from the controls.
"We should be able to drop you right
on the doorstep." Said Stark.
"Just get me as close as you can." I say the I turn to Peggy saying, "You know, you're both going to be in a lot of trouble when you land."
"And you're not?" She said knowingly.
"Yeah, but where I'm landing, if
anybody yells at me, I get to shoot them." I smirk.
"They're undoubtedly going to shoot
back."
I show her my shield strapped to my back.
"It's got to be good for something."
"Agent Carter, if we're not in too
much of a hurry, I thought we'd stop in Lucerne for a late night fondue." Howard grins. I'm a little tweaked.
"Why is he saying "fondue" like
that? What's fondue?" I ask in my confusion.
"Stark's the best civilian pilot I've ever seen, and mad enough to brave this airspace. We're lucky to have him." She said.
-Darcy's POV-
"Stark's the best civilian pilot I've ever seen, and mad enough to brave this airspace. We're lucky to have him." Peggy said quietly amused.
"Do you, are you two...fondue?" Steve Asked completely oblivious to the truth.
"Take this transponder. Activate it when you're ready and the signal will lead us right to you." She said regaining her business like poster and tone.
Steve looks at the insignia, 'STARK INDUSTRIES.'
"You sure it works?" Steve Asked.
"It's been tested more than you
have, buddy." Stark says a little to smug.
The plane lurches to the left being shot at. Howard executes evasive maneuvers. Steve straps on his parachute and throws open the jump door.
"Rogers, get back here. We're taking
you all the way in!" Peggy tells him as she begins to put a little wolf parachute made especially for me.
Explosions rock the air as Steve realizes what he's about to do.Another explosion is made. He turns to Peggy and says, "ONCE I'M CLEAR, TURN THIS THING AROUND AND GET OUT OF HERE!"
Peggy yells back, " YOU CAN'T GIVE ME ORDERS!"
"THE HELL I CAN'T!" He braces himself in the doorway. "I'M A CAPTAIN!"
Another shot fired as another explosion rang in the air. The plane lurches once more just as...Steve jumps. I run after him and soon pull the parachute string with my mouth.
             -3rd POV-
Search lights sweeps from watchtowers. A barbed Wire fence rings a compound of buildings. A factory belches smoke.
-Inside the factory.-
A Hydra tech loads blue cartridge and into a cluster-bomb, then gently loads the clusterbomb into a nose cone.
"As you see, production is
proceeding faultlessly." Zola explains to Schmidt the success of the power exportation.
Zola and Schmidt walk the factory floor.
Catwalks radiate from a control room overhead. DR. Arnim Zola Even in ordnance of this size.
"Good. Increase output by sixty
percent. See to it our other facilities do the same." Schmidt orders.
"But our...workers. I am not sure
they have the strength." Says Zola.
P.O.W.'S labor at gun point . A giant crane loads bombs onto a rail car.
"Then use what strength they have
left, Doctor. There are always more workers." Schmidt smirks not showing an ounce of humanity.
-outside of factory at the main gate of the compound-
Steve peers out at the guards patrolling the main gate, Darcy following him in her human form, wearing a uniform just like Captain America. They drop as headlights sweep the road. Three covered trucks rumble toward the gate. A gate guard checks the drivers' papers. In the background, Steve and Darcy sneak into the last truck.
The trucks roll into the compound, gates closing behind them. GUARDS hurry out to unload the trucks.
At the last truck, one guard peers in curious. A red, white and blue shield stands amongst the supplies. The shield springs out smashing him in the face. The guard clutches at his nose feeling it broken. Darcy drop kicks him in the groin and punches him dead between the eyes as the guard drops. Steve and Darcy emerge from the darkness.
Once the vehicle enters the compound Steve and Darcy jump out of the back of the vehicle and stay under the cover of the darkness. They use the light of the dimly lit sky to see where they're going.
Across from them about 14 feet away.
Hydra guards prod P.O.W.'S across the compound. Steve and Darcy follow, keeping to the shadows. At the barracks, one guard stands watch as the other leads the prisoners inside...
-in the Barracks-
A warden opens a cage and prods the prisoner in. A prisoner in a hat bring up the rear, slow. The warden hits him with a truncheon, knocking off his bowler. The prisoner picks up his hat and puts it back on. the super duo see it's Dum Dum Dugan He stares at the Warden.
"You know, Fritz, one of these days,
I'm gonna get my own stick."
The warder viciously kicks Dugan inside. Down hundred more prisoners are trapped in a the dozen. With multiple rows, and more cages.
The guard steps out to find his partner sleeping against the wall with his helmet over his eyes. He kicks him, but the guard doesn't move. He lifts his partner's helmet to see...he's out cold.
Steve steps up behind him with a truncheon. And knocks the guard upside the head with it. Darcy goes ahead stealthily making her way to the cages.
Four prisoners, Falsworth, Jones, Dernier and Dugan slump on the floor of their cage, exhausted. The warden on the upper floor makes his rounds. He passes out of sight. Then Steve gets spotted as Darcy comes up behind the warden and hits him upside the head. The warden drops on top of the cage, unconscious. The prisoners jump up as Darcy looks down at them and motions for Steve to come over.
"Hello" she says. As Steve comes to her side and waves.
The prisoners stare, stunned. Jones raises an eyebrow at Steve's outfit and shield.
The prisoners' excitement dies.
"And who the hell are you supposed
to be?" Said Jones.
"I'm...Captain America. And this is Wynter."
"Merde." Said Dernier.
                -Darcy POV-
We then free them and they began to feee the others. As we also begin to free them. I in particular was looking for one person though. The person who had captured my heart and refused to let it free. The person who conquered my mind and wouldn't let it go. James Buchanan Barnes. The one man who had won me over in so little time. It's been years since I've seen him. And before Steve left, it had only been months...
Freed prisoners follow Steve as he makes his way down the row, opening cages with the guard's keys. I free some of the others with a bobby pin Peggy had given me for my hair. Steve releases Falsworth, Jones, Dernier and Dugan. Dugan spots A Japanese- American Soldier, Morita, already free.
"What, are we taking everybody?" Said Dugan.
"I'm from Fresno, Ace." Morita said with snark in his voice.
Steve searches the throng of prisoners. As I continue looking through the cages for anyone left behind.
"Are there any others?" Steve Asked.
"They did take a number of the men
to isolation ward. I'm afraid we haven't seen them since." Said Falsworth.
I see Steve considers this as the prisoners gather round. Finally, he hands them a pistol and grenades.
"The tree line's northwest, about 80
yards from the gate. From there, just follow the creek bed." Steve informed them.
"We'll meet you in the clearing with anybody we find inside." I continued for him.
Jones stops us. "Wait. You sure you know what you're doing?"
"Sure. I've knocked out Adolph
Hitler over 200 times." Steve says moving out as I follow.
Steve circles the factory, looking for a way in. While I transformed into my wolf. I sniffed at the snow for any scent to find a way in.
                -in the factory-
                    -3rd POV-
A Hydra guard stands watch near a door. He hears tapping. A silhouette appears behind the glass. The guard cautiously opens the door and pokes his head out.
"Ja?" Said the hydra guard.
The door slams, pinning his head. The guard looks up to see Steve's fist coming right at him. He's knocked out cold but Darcy shoots him using a muffler for good measure. They enter the factory, creeping between bombs and crates. Clusters of cartridges bristle inside an unfinished bomb. Steve pulls one out, curious, It glows blue in his hand. He pockets the cartridge and heads for the stairs with Darcy following right behind him.
A guard rushes down the stairs, his jackboots almost crushing Steve's fingers as Steve hangs under the staircase. The guard raises his gun about to shoot Darcy but Steve yanks the guard's ankle. He tumbles down the stairs.
The duo step onto a catwalk, only to be met by another guard pointing a pistol. Steve knocks the gun from his hand and smashes him in the face. The guard falls, flips back up and charges. Steve swings from a beam and kicks the guard in the chest causing him to fall down. As the guard gets back up Darcy roundhouse kicks him in the knees causing them to give in. He falls over the railing and onto the floor below.
Steve looks over the factory floor, taking in the full scale of the bomb-making facility. Just then...TWO MORE SOLDIERS ATTACK FROM EITHER SIDE. The first guard fires. Steve drops and shoots him down. The second guard closes in. Steve whirls and crushes his neck with the side of his shield. Darcy only being able to watch as Steve moved too quickly for her to react.
He then takes on three guards. As four more come forward lunging at Darcy. She ducks and swings a mean left hook into one of their jaws causing him to stumble back. She kicks another in the crotch. Him on his knees she takes her gun and shoots him between the eyes. She elbows another in the throat as the third one recovers from his jaw.
Darcy then flips into the air landing on one of the soldiers backs and twists his neck. After that she sees the two soldiers left, running toward her. Darcy jumps up and does a split in the air kicking the two in the head. One goes down while the other stumbles back cursing under his breath in German.
"verdammte Schlampe, ich bring dich selbst um." He said. [damn bitch, I'll kill you myself]
"Hat deine Mutter dir nie gesagt, dass es unhöflich ist, vor einer Dame zu fluchen?" Darcy replies. [didn't your mother ever tell you it's rude to cuss in front of a lady?]
She said kicking him in his knees making him fall on them as she brought her gun to his forehead and took the shot.
Steve hits one guard and kicks another, then uses him to deflect the blast of a third. Steve dispatches the last guard and heads up the stairs leaving Darcy to follow.

The Truth Revealed
                     -Steve's POV-
I couldn't wait for tomorrow. Deporting to the camp. Darcy stayed by my side yesterday and today. And tomorrow I'd have to say goodbye.
What a sad and joyous occasion. Saying goodbye and yet saying hello to a whole new adventure. Going into the army. I stood in Bucky's or our living room staring at Darcy waiting for any word from Bucky. Part of the 107th infantry.
I sighed running my hands through my hair. Darcy seemingly sensing my frustration came to my side nudging my hand to her nose.
"Darcy what am I going to do? I wish you could come with me..." I said squaring my shoulders.
She nuzzles my hand and put a paw on my knee.
-Darcy POV-
It was now three days past Steve's departure. I was still in my wolf form and pacing back and forth.
'I have to get to him. There's no way he would survive without some sort of support system!' I thought.
I have to! But I can't go like this! Well maybe I can...
I ran to the nearest recruiting tent. I snuck in as a wolf. When someone noticed me!
"Eeeek!! It's a wolf!!! Get it out!!!" Some woman screeched. They shoo'd me out. Well that didn't work...
I went to a back alley and transformed into my human form. I ran back to the recruiting tent.
A young man greeted me with a smile.
"What can I do for you miss?"
"I'd like to volunteer my services to the army." I said in full confidence.
The young man just laughed at me.
I would do whatever it takes to get into the army. So I went back around the tent and saw a doctor smoking a cigarette. While I didn't quite understand why a female doctor would be smoking, I did see an opportunity.
I made my way to her and I asked. "Hey doc, why do it think it's so hard for us women to join the military?"
She shrugged, "Don't ask me. I don't care about going into the military I just check em out and check them up."
"Thank you for your time doctor." I said turning back around to walk away.
"Wait!" She yelled.
I turned back around immediately alarmed by her sudden outburst.
"I might know a way to get you in." she said
I looked up at her in confusion.
"I saw you come in and talk to Lewis. When he laughed at you... well that pissed me off and I may not want to join myself, but that doesn't mean I think women shouldn't join." She sighed. "What I'm trying to say is... a couple days ago one of my colleagues took in a boy just wasn't cut out for the military life. Yet he helped that young man and made his dream come true. I want to be like my colleague in that way so I'll help you."
"Thanks I think..."
She laughed, "By the way the name's Janine. Janine Iwensky. Nice to meet ya." She held out her hand for me to shake.
I hesitated but I took her hand and shook it.
"I'm Darcy... Darcy Dolohov." I smiled.
"Do you have a place to stay in the mean time? I mean I can tell your not from around here your accent is different. Alaskan? Maybe? Anyways I have a spare room at my place. You could bunk there until we figure this out." She smiled sweetly.
"Yeah how did you know?!" My eyes immediately sparked. No one could ever tell where I'm from. So it was pretty awesome that she could. "It would be great  if you could do that for me! But I don't want to be a bother..."
"No sugah don't you worry bout a thing!"
————2 years later 1943—————
-Steve's POV-
"We have a surprise for you Cap!" One of the lieutenants said. "We figure Captain America could use a sidekick. Well a mascot more like. And don't worry it's fully trained and tamed!"
"What's going on lieutenant?" Said the Colonel.
"Well we have a surprise for the Cap."
"Alright let's see it." Said Colonel Phillips.
The lieutenant whistled.
And in came a white wolf wagging its tail.
It looked vaguely familiar. "Darcy?!" I gasped.
The wolf ran up to me, and pounced on me licking my face.
"H-how is this possible?!" I asked.
"Well one of our higher ups, she's a doctor, said that you always had this here wolf with you, and she'd had one of our cadets train her. She figured you'd like to have her back." The lieutenant grinned.
"Thank you very much lieutenant. Colonel is this fine by you?" I turned toward Colonel Phillips.
"Are you sure this thing is tame and has been trained enough for the fields?" Asked Colonel Phillips.
"Yes sir, and she is a beauty. Might I say sir." Said the lieutenant.
"What's your name lieutenant?" The Colonel Asked.
"Lieutenant Derrell Lewis, sir!" He saluted.
"Well lieutenant Lewis you are dismissed!" Said the Colonel.
"Yes sir" Lewis said as he left.
"It's alright son, you can keep it." Colonel Phillips stayed blatantly.
"Alright back to work Rogers." He said leaving the tent.
I was alone in the tent no one but me and Darcy.
"Darcy how did you get here?!" I asked knowing there would be no reply.
Suddenly I heard a ruckus outside of the tent. Peggy came up to me.
"Don't worry about it Steve. It's just the production manager wanting you to know he needs you back at the plane to go to your next performance." She said.
I'm getting tired of these little concerts and advertisements for bonds. I want to be doing more. I wanna be out there on the battlefield!
- a week later-
Peggy met me backstage after I had just performed for the 107th.
"Hello Peggy. What can I do for you?" I asked.
"That was one heck of a performance captain." She smiled.
"Yeah well bonds buy bullets, bullets kills nazis, each kill closer to ending this war."
"You sound like senator Brandt." Her smile fell.
"Well its that or Phillips was gonna stick me in a lab..." I said
"You were meant for more than this Steve." Peggy looks at my sketch.
"Are those really your only options? A lab rat or a dancing monkey?" She smirks at me.
"All I've ever wanted was to be out there on the front lines. To be a hero so suddenly... after all those years of people telling me I'll always be nothing." I paused as a platoon of men come out of an army vehicle, catches my eye "They look like they've been through hell..."
"These men more than most." she said as I was watching them. I noticed Darcy sniffing through the soldiers as if looking for someone.
"Hydra?" I asked expectantly.
"Not officially." She explained.
"Back home that's a yes." I say nodding my head.
She looks at me at if debating with herself, then leans in. "Schmidt was moving a force through
Azzano. 200 hundred men went up against them, less than fifty came back. Your audience contained all that's left of the 107th. The rest were killed or captured."
My head snapped to attention and my eyes alert. "The 107th?!"
She nodded. "Yes, What is it?"
"Come on." I said as a scowl passed on my face. I whistled to Darcy and she bolted by my side.
-Darcy's POV-
I ran to Steve as he called. I needed time to prepare seeing as how I think I know what's going on in his mind. I used my teeth and lightly tugged in Peggy's skirt.
She looked down on me with a expression of shock and confusion.
"Steve?" She said sounding unsure.
"Darcy stop!" I huffed he clearly didn't get the message.
I began pawing at the dirt, knowing Peggy would understand.
"I need alone time with Peggy I need to pee. And I don't like Steve watching me pee." I said in Morse code.
As realization finally sunk in Peggy laughed and tossed her head back.
Steve looked at her like she was crazy.
"That is one smart wolf you got there Rogers!"
"What? What is it?!" He asked bewildered.
"She needs to use the bathroom and she doesn't like going to the bathroom with you around." She chuckled at the thought.
Steve turned red for a moment and then said, "well okay I'll be at the Jeep."
She waved him off.
"Aren't you a smart girl?" She smirked as I lead her over to a secluded area with a tent. I went inside her following. I checked the perimeter making sure no one could hear or see us.
Then I transformed right in front of her knowing I could trust her and she wouldn't hold it against me for waiting to long to tell her like I did Steve.
She gasped nearly falling over as she backed away.
"Hey, hey easy now... easy. I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm still Darcy but I'm just... me... now."
"Wait so you're like a werewolf?" she gaped.
"Technically Yes, But my kind prefer the term Shayde." I said and thus leading into a thirty minute explanation.
"Well I'll be darned. That sure is quite the story and I'd not believe it had I not just seen you turn into a human..." she said seemingly fascinated.
"You can't tell anyone! Please! I need to be here just as much as Steve. I think I just told you this but I cast a shadow on Steve and well I felt a connection between me and Steve's childhood friend, Bucky. Bucky is in the 107th."
Her eyes widened And she gasped.
"You need to tell Steve." she said with an all too knowing look. I don't think I like the look of it either.
"I know but after waiting this long I don't know how." I said looking down and feeling ashamed at all my secrecy.
"Well we'll just show him now. I'll come back with you instead of Darcy that could also help the situation a bit. And on our way to camp you can explain it to him in more detail than you told me." She said confidently
"You make it sound so easy..." I said smiling.
We walked out of the tent with our arms linked in a show of support. And we walked right up to Steve and he looked shocked.
"What are you doing here Darla?!" Steve nearly yelled.
I smiled sheepishly, "My real name isn't Darla it's.... its Darcy." I said as I shifted back into the form he is so used to seeing me in. I then shifted back into human form. And hugged him as he stood there mouth agape.
"I'm so sorry Steve!" I said and burst out in tears. And with that we rode off as I explained EVERYTHING to him.

Home and soon to be gone
I can't believe I jeopardized everything. I'm so stupid! How could I have slipped up! Saying Bucky's name and he didn't even get to introduce himself. And then I ran off acting even more suspicious.
I ducked into a deserted alley way catching my breath. I peeked around the corner. I'm probably being over dramatic but you can never be too careful. I heard rustling from the trash can in the back of the alley. I cautiously moved my way to them. I transformed into my wolf form and pounced.
Only to find a cat sniffing a discarded  food item. When the cat saw me, it hissed and meowed at me ferociously. It's back arches and it's tail stood straight up. It jumped and sped away. I sighed,
'Stupid cat.' I thought.
As the sun finally receded and the stars made their way into the sky, I paced back and forth. Sighing, I accepted the fact that I was going to have to sleep here for the night.
—————————————————
              -the next Morning-
I woke up to the sound of two people yelling at each other.
"Why are we looking for this girl?! We might as well be looking for trouble!" Guy number one yelled.
"Because Bucky! We have to find her who knows where she could be. Last night she ran off, who knows if she got home safely?!" Said guy number two.
Soon the two people came into sight.
Steve and Bucky. I panicked thinking I was still in my human form.
"Oh hey Darcy! Have you seen a girl?" Steve said running up to me.
I visibly relaxed seeing as how he addressed me as Darcy instead of Darla.
I tilted my head to the side and whines as if I were asking a question.
"Oh never mind she probably doesn't even know who we're talking about!" Bucky says exasperated. "And my train leaves in an hour. I got to go Steve."
"Alright. Be careful buck... and don't be an idiot! Remember you run towards the fight not away." Steve grinned patting Bucky on the back.
"You take care of Steve you hear me Darcy?" Bucky pat my head and chuckled. "See ya punk!"
And that was that. Bucky was on his way to war.
"Come on Darcy lets go home." Steve said looking at me expectedly.
'Home' now there's a thought. I haven't TRULY had a home since we moved from our den. Always moving place to place. Never truly settling down. It was a hard life.
"Or better yet... I should go to this address the doctor gave me. He wants to give me a chance. Can you believe it Darcy? Me, a chance, to join the army! Come on Dr. Erkskiene's probably waiting for me to arrive. He told me to meet him at 3:00 pm. But maybe we can go a bit early huh?" Steve rambled on to me.
I was happy he finally got a chance to do something. But I can't help but wonder what this doctor is planning on doing for him. I followed Steve merrily as he began walking.
-30 minutes later-
Steve knocked on the door, and stood back waiting for an answer.
"Ah there you are young man! I've been waiting for you." He greeted Steve warmly then he noticed me.
"Oh dear. I'm afraid your uh... your dog will have to stay outside..."
"No problem Doc..." he looked to me. "Stay here Darcy."
I whined. I didn't like where this was going. I got a really bad feeling.

-Steve's POV-
I followed the doc inside. As I looked back at Darcy I got a sudden feeling she was trying to tell me something. The doctor showed me to his living room and gestures for me to take a seat. I obliged his request.
"So Steve I just need you to sign these documents and everything will be official. You will be sent to the training grounds the day after tomorrow. You will be put under observation and be put through training as well as many tests. Are you prepared for that?" The doc asked.
"Yes sir! I'm willing to do whatever it takes." I smiled and nodded.
"Good, good. I'm glad there is a young man like you willing to do this for his country. I can also understand any speculation of my background. Being from Germany puts me under speculation all the time. But I recognize that my home country is not a good place. It has questionable morals. There is a organization within the Nazi. Called Hydra. They wanted my serum for their own ways. Their leader, Schmidt forced me to use my serum on him. It wasn't finished at the time. You see Steve, my serum not only strengthens the human body but it also makes what's inside you greater than what was. Say, an abusive husband, he is horrible man, no? With the serum he would become worse than an abusive husband. He's become a murderer, a truly evil man. But say we have a young man like you, Steve, one who has all the right qualities and morals, it strengthens those. Makes a good man into a great man!" The doc passionately described his work to me.
"That sound amazing Doc!" I said encouraging him.
"Ah yes, yes." He looked to his watch. "Oh would you look at the time! Best you be getting move on and get some rest young man, you'll need it!" He said guiding me to the door.
"Good day to you Doc." I said goodbye.
"Come on Darcy lets go home now. We're done for the day." I told the wolf. She barked at me and followed by my side as we made our way to Bucky's house which I call home. Ever since my mom died he had brought me to his place and I learned to call it home.
We stepped inside and I began to make steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It was simple enough. I gave Darcy a steak and she growled in appreciation.
'Just think Stevie day after tomorrow and you'll be in the military.' I thought to myself.
Darcy whined grabbing my attention. I bet she was wondering why I was so quiet.
"Well Darcy the day after tomorrow and I'll be leaving for the training grounds. Yup Steve Rogers reporting for duty!" I smiled as Darcy wagged her tail in response to what I said.
I couldn't wait...

The Journey
                  -Steve's P.O.V-
Is was the night before Bucky has to leave for war. We were out on the town, and buck comes back up to me with two young dames on his arms.
"Ladies this is my best friend Steve Rogers. Mandy why don't you dance with him? He is a perfect gent."  Bucky smirked.
"Hello ma'am." I held out my hand for her to shake.
She giggled. And sauntered over to my side. I felt very uncomfortable. I saw the recruitment tent. I snuck a look at it, and Bucky noticed.
"I'll be just a minute girls." He said to the girls before turning to me. "You're really gonna do this now?"
"It's a fair. I'm gonna try my luck." I said shrugging.
"As who? 'Steve from Ohio?' They'll catch you. Or worse, they'll actually take you!" Bucky scolded.
I smile sadly at Bucky. He just doesn't get it.
"You don't think I can do it." I shook my head disappointedly.
"This isn't some back alley, Steve. It's a war. Why are you so keen to fight There're lots of other important jobs... jobs where you won't get kil-" Bucky started.
"Where I collect scrap metal in some little red wagon? While men are laying down their lives? I got no right to do anything less! That what you don't understand by buck. It's not about me!"
"Right cuz you've got nothing to prove."
Bucky jabbed. One of the girls called out to him.
Bucky looked at the girl then back at me and said, "Promise me you won't do anything too stupid before I get back."
I smirk, "How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you."
"You're a punk" Bucky smiles.
"And you're a jerk." I waved him off.

              -Darcy's POV-
"So where are we going today?" I asked.
"To the future!"
"Sure... no seriously where are we going?"
"I AM being serious."
"Why did we have to come to New York?" I whined
"The stark expo of course! It's fun to see how the humans try to evolve." Nathaniel laughed.
"You know the pack is in New York right?"
"I'm fully aware." he said his face turning grim.
"Are you trying to get me killed?" I asked.
"Nope!" He said with a grin. We walked a few more minutes. "And Tada! We're here. Welcome to the future Darcy!"
I gasped in awe. My hands firmly covered my mouth as tears came upon my eyes. I had never seen so many lights and colors in one place.
"This... this is beautiful! Amazing! Incredible! Forget every bad thing I've ever said about you! You are the BEST!" I jumped up and down barely containing my excitement. I hugged him bear tight.
"Okay, Okay I get it. Jeez Darcy your gonna break my spine if you don't let go soon!" He wheezed.
I let go of him and stood back grinning from ear to ear. That's when a gust of wind blew and my senses spiked. I caught HIS scent.
He's here. At the expo. With... I sniffed the air once more.
The boy. Steve.
I transformed into my wolf form and ran. With Nathaniel hot on my trail, wondering what the hell could have made me stop talking so suddenly.
I could smell him. I was getting closer. When I found him, I stood far enough away from him to keep my presence unknown. I saw he had two girls on his arms. I growled. And before I know what came over me, I was running to his side snarling. I stood directly in front of him and the girls. And growled as I stalked my way toward them. The girls squealed and held on for dear life. Which only made me angrier.
My brother soon followed in his human form and said, "Sorry ladies, my dog isn't usually like this! Winter! Heel!"
I snapped my head up at him, my growl deepening. I was beyond outraged. HE HAD THE GUTS TO CALL ME A DOG?!!! A MOTHER-FUCKING DOG?!!! Oh hell no!
I ran right to him a nipped at his legs making him dance. The I turned around to find the girls gone but the man, Bucky, was still there. Bucky turned towards my brother.
"Your dog huh? The last time I checked a Wolf was not a dog and second this dog's owner isn't you. A family had came to get this wolf a couple days ago. This is not your wolf sir. But she does seem to know you, I'll give you that." Bucky sighed in resignation.
I think.
"Hey Bucky I-" Steve said coming up to us. "Oh hey Darcy what are you doing here? This place is too public. C'mon let's get you somewhere cozier. Yeah?"
My demeanor completely changed. I went from a fangs bared, growling wolf to a bright eyes, tail wagging wolf immediately as he said this. I followed him. Constantly walking by his side.
My brother was in awe. I tipped at him telling him to hurry up. I could hear Bucky chuckle as I did so.
Next thing I know we arrive to a pale creamy yellow house. Small and cozy. Steve opened the door and allowed me in first. And I'm ashamed to say it but I pranced right on in as if I were some little pet, and I belonged there.
Steve sat down on the sofa as did Bucky. Steve gestured for Nathan to sit down, and my brother obliged.
"So your dog you say?" Bucky asked suspiciously.
"Uh yeah my dog. A family gave her to me not too long ago saying they couldn't keep up with her anymore and that she ran away too often." Nate said scratching the back of his neck nervously.
"Well-" Steve began but my brother interrupted.
"Welp thanks for the uh company and uh hospitality but we've really got to go." Nate motioned me to follow and I did reluctantly.
"Your not going anywhere bud" Bucky said
"Like hell i'm not! Get out of the way!" Nathan yelled.
"Bucky let em go." Steve said and shook his head at Bucky.
Bucky moves out of our way and we leave not looking back. We were a couple blocks away when I transformed back into my human body.
My brother hissed at me, "What the HELL was that?!"
"He's the shadow. The one I cast a shadow on. The scrawny kid. But the bigger one, Bucky, my senses spike when he is around and it's like I can't control my impulses." I said.
He grinned from ear to ear like he knew something I didn't.
"What's that look for Nate?" I questioned.
"Oh nothing, you'll find out soon enough. Trust me." He said walking by me and continued to do so, making me follow him.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" I yelled after him. He just shook his head and kept on walking.
"Meet me at the 401 plain trail. You know which one!" He said waving me off.
Ugh I hate it when he does that! Always leaving me off to figure out his crap. I decide to go back to Steve's place. And I knock. Steve answers the door.
"Oh uh... H-hello." He stutters at the sight of me.
"Hi I'm Dar- Darla. Darla Winfrey. I'm looking for my brother and our dog. Have you seen him?" I asked sweetly. Almost revealing my name.
"Oh uh yeah h-he just le-left." He stuttered again.
I hear footsteps coming from behind him and Bucky opens the door wider leaning against it.
"Well hello there. What a pretty gal like you doing in a place like this?" Bucky smiled.
I looked into his eyes and I could feel the ice melting my heart. He really was a charmer. No wonder he had girls at his beck and call. My face soured as I remembered the girls from before. But I quickly schooled my expression as to not give anything away.
"I'm looking for my brother, have you seen him?" I asked sweetly.
Ugh sickening. Too sweet. I feel like I'm going to throw up if I get any sweeter.
"Oh he just left. My why don't you come on in doll? Make yourself comfortable." He said with a coy smile.
"Oh I couldn't possibly. After all you don't even know my name, Bucky." I chuckled.
His jaw almost hit the floor. Ah shit. My eyes widened as I realized I just said his name when he hadn't even "properly" introduced himself to me.
"Well I best be off. Good night boys!" I said quickly running away. I had lost all my confidence. It was in that moment I knew I could never allow them to see my human form again.
I changed back into my wolf form and went back to Steve's house for the final time. Knowing I couldn't knock, I just laid there. I got comfortable on his 'Welcome' mat, and fell asleep.
What a long journey it's been today...

Rogue
I was packing my things and as usual I found that I couldn't find my locket. So I knew exactly who to turn to. I went out of my room and slammed my sister's door open.
"Where is my locket Iris?" I said frustrated.
"Why are you asking me?" She feigned innocence.
"Come on Iris I'm not playing!" I growled.
"Why do you want it so bad?" Iris said.
"Cuz it's my property and it belongs to me! I want it NOW!"
"Well you can't have it now!" She mocked me.
Suddenly I felt my anger get the best of me and I began to shift. I snarled at her.
"Eeek! Fine fine! Here take your damn locket!" She shrieked and three it at me. I had to hurry up and shift back to catch it before it hit the floor. I sighed in relief. "You know I should tell mom what you're doing..."
"Yeah well why aren't you running to her now?!" I snapped. Then I sighed and looked down. "Look, I'm sorry. I- I just don't know h-h- how to cope with this. I've never felt anything like this b-be-before!" I wasn't usually one for crying and putting my emotions on display. But I broke down right there.
And in a flash Iris is right by my side holding me close to her.
"It's alright, I understand that this is a first for you. You usually know what your doing and you never really had to rely on anyone other than us. I can understand mother's reasons but...." she sighed and put her hands on my shoulder and pulled me from her grasp so I was facing her. She smiled lightly, "but you cast a shadow and it's not every day you find out that your shadow is right around the corner."
Iris hands me a backpack already full of everything I could possibly need. "Go get him tiger. Oh and tell the blondie I said hi." She giggles.
"You're the best little sis anyone could ever ask for! Yknow that?" I said and hugged her tight. "See you on the other side sis. Love you!" I said jumping out the window and landing on my feet quietly. I peaked through the window of the living room and saw the coast was clear. I began running, not looking back.
         3 Days later
I was walking along a forest near Washington, District of Columbia. I went to the one person I knew would help me and the one person I could trust. Herman Morague. He was the one person who knew my secret. He is an ex-missionary and loving the life he was living now with his wife. His wife, Laurie Turner-Morague, had to get used to the idea of "my other side" as she likes to call it. It's been quite some time sense I've last seen them.
-8 hours later-
I arrived at the disclosed location of where they lived.
I walked up their pathway to their home. They lived remotely in the woods away from prying eyes. I knocked on their door. Waiting for a response. None came.
I tried to open the door it was locked. I went around back and tried the back door.
It was unlocked and looked like someone had forced their way in. I turned the door knob, opened the door and stepped in carefully.
Taking in my surroundings, I looked for any evidence of a struggle. But nothing. The house looked completely untouched. And it was strangely quiet... Too quiet.. I walked across the living room to examine the dining table. Where there sat two bowls of unfinished food. I put the dishes in the sink. And went back to examine the table.
Again no marks of struggle or blood or anything seemingly incriminating. I walked through the archway into the kitchen
Again nothing signaling anything out of the ordinary. I began feeling uneasy and worried about the two known inhabitants of the house. I walked to another room for R&R.
Again nothing. I lead about to turn around again when something caught from the corner of my eye. The computer screen had a tab open but it was on the home screen.
I clicked on the browser tab to see an encrypted message. I quickly decided it and the end result cane up as.
"Gone to lake Laveiere." ~ The Moragues.
Laveiere.... ah the one I used to go to when I needed time alone! But why would they go there, and why are they hiding?
-A Couple Hours Later-
I arrived at the lake and saw a young man sitting under a tree. I shifted into my wolf form. And made my way towards him.
He looked up from his book and looked at me. It was then that I saw his face.
I shifted back into my regular form.
"Hello Brother. What are you doing here?"
"Ah a man can't visit his favorite humans?" Nathaniel asked.
"Sure you can, but you never visit someone unless you need or want something. After all you ARE a lone wolf." I said.
"Oh really and what are you? I don't see the pack anywhere with you." He replied.
"Well I....I..." I broke down once again.
My brothers facial features softened and he embraced me in a gentle hug.
"Shh. Shh... it's okay, just tell me when your ready." He whispered in my ear whilst stroking my hair.
"I hate it. I HATE THIS. I hate being so vulnerable." I cried.
"I know, I know. It's the wolf in you." He said. He then released me from his embrace when he felt my breath even out.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in.
"They told you I was coming didn't they?"
Nathan sighed. "Yeah, they did. I knew if you were coming here, something had to be wrong."
I laughed a heart wrenching laugh.
"Now what is it? What has my warrior of a sister so downtrodden?" He tilted my chin up with his hand.
"I'll just get to the point. I cast a shadow..." I looked him in the eyes.
"That's gre-" he started .
"On a human. One who is going to war soon." I looked down, afraid of the look of disappointment that would no doubt be upon his face.
"Oh shit." His smile dropped.
"No filter still? Never think my brother has changed when it comes to his language!" I laughed genuinely.
"Well you know me." He grinned.
"Yes, yes I do." I sighed.
"Come with me. Just you and me. Living together, running away from the pack, laughing at those who stand in our way. Let me help you sister. I myself shall cast a spell. For you. You will be with your shadow." He said holding out his hand for me to take it.
"I... I will." I took his hand.
And at that we shifted to our wolf form and howled telling the world, we will not be put down. Nothing can nor will stop us.
'Brother, thank you.'
'Your welcome, sister dearest.'
And at that we howled once more and ran of in the dim moonlight of the night.

            -Darcy's POV-
We had finally reached the uninhabited portion of Brooklyn. We lived at an old tattered mansion my mother was somehow able to acquire.
We all shifted into our human forms as we met up in the old entertaining room.
I sat down on the purple Victorian sofa, Iris sat with me, mother sat in a chair across from me and Alex opted out for standing.
"Care to explain that little charade of yours?" Mother asked me.
"I... I think I cast a shadow..." I said, my voice being barely audible.
My mother heard it. Everyone did. My mother's eyes widened as though they were about to pop out of her head.
"You cast... a shadow?!..." she said as if trying to comprehend what I was saying.
"Mom remind me what a shadow is again?" Iris said.
Alex rolled his eyes as if this was basic Shayde knowledge. (And it was).
"It's basically when a Shayde... okay well you know the saying, 'Love at first sight'?" Alex said.
Iris nodded her head, while I just had my head hung low watching the interaction.
"Well it's basically it's like that. Except it's not love but an indirect family bond that is activated at first sight." Alex finished explaining.
"Oh shit... Darcy, that is seriously not good... HE IS A FREAKIN HUMAN!!!!" Iris shouted at me.
"WELL IM SORRY I CAN'T HELP WHO I CAST A SHADOW ON!" I shouted right back at her. Tears coming to my eyes.
We began to go back and forth arguing about it.
"GIRLS! Enough!" Our mother shouted at us, shutting us up abruptly. We were surprised she usually kept her calm demeanor and let us duke it out.
"Darcy, I know you can't control the shadow but you can't see him again."
"But mother! You know the complications that apply with the shadows! I can't stay away... I have to protect him!" I said exasperated at her response.
"I will only say this once Darcy, you are not to meet him again!" She said, her voice dripping with contempt.
"Yes mother..." my head hung low once more as I was reminded my place.
My mother was still alpha and I had to respect that. Alex was her beta. I was the Delta, and Iris was lead warrior, and Nathaniel is also a warrior. My aunt Layla is the huntress. My uncle Leone is the____________.  My cousin Lena is another warrior. My cousin Jacob is a warrior. Jacob's mate was named Rayka. They had 3 kids. Jordan age 10, McKenzie age 13, and Mikeal age 15. They were being trained to be warriors. Although McKenzie wanted to be a huntress like her grandmother. And that was our pack.
But we separated about 13 years ago. You know the saying, "Divide and Conquer!" Well that was our case. We call them the Volks. And as for us, they call us the Dols. Pronounced as (Dolls). Now we get together once every 5 years to celebrate the expansion of our pack. But we haven't' heard from them in over 7 years. And Nathaniel is going through a lone wolf phase.
I looked at my mother then back at the floor. If I were in my wolf form my tail would have been tucked between my legs. I walked to my room, careful not to slam the door, I slowly shut it. I ran and jumped on my bed, my face in my pillow and let out a silent scream.
I have had a really good life so far, no saying that life is easy! Trust me it's not! Sometimes I just want to leave and be like my brother. Go on a lone wolf rampage. But I can't... or can I?...
A/N: Sorry for the short chapter but I thought it would be best to leave it at that for now. See you in the next chapter!

Brooklyn, New York
The year was 1939 I had just turned 19. We were still in Brooklyn, and I had heard rumors of a young man who had been trying to get into the army. He intrigued me to say the least. I would listen in on others conversations about him so that I could keep informed.
One day I had heard a lot of commotion coming from an alley way. I quickly changed into my wolf form, careful not to be seen. What I saw made my blood boil. A man was beating up a young boy. Once I got a good look at the boy I realized it was the one I had been informed of. I started growling with my fangs bared.
I slowly made my way into the light and the men spun around quickly to take a look at me. I began chasing the bigger man making him run off. But not before the man pulled out a pocket knife and managed to cut my paw. When he ran off I turned back around to the young man. He began backing away frightened. I sat down in front of him and began wagging my tail, trying to show him I meant no harm. He slowly but surely started to see my intentions. When he placed a hand in front of my face allowing me to catch his scent, I had licked his hand telling him that it was alright.
The blood loss was starting to get to me however. And I lied down whimpering in pain. The young man saw this and began to sit in front of me and took my paw into his hand. When suddenly another man came bursting out of the back door and into the alley way.
I growled quickly feeling threatened at this man's demeanor. The young man said "shh shh! He's a friend. He's a friend!"
The other man said, "What the hell are you doing with that thing! It could rip you to shreds!"
"As you can see Bucky, the poor thing isn't doing that now is it?" The young man retorted back.
"How did it even get here?!"
"Beats me! But this wolf saved me from getting the crap pummeled out of me."
"What?! Steve that's insane!"
"Yeah well tell that to the big guy who ran off." Steve laughed.
I whimpered again trying to get back at the matter at hand: my paw was still bleeding.
Bucky noticed this and asked, "What happened?"
"The guy managed to cut its paw..." Steve said concerned.
"Ah shit... come on... I know a guy..." he started walking in the back alley. He ran towards a abandoned building door and knocked loudly.
"Stitch, come on! It's Bucky! We need your help! Come on man open up!"
"Fine! Fine! I'm coming and it BETTER BE AN EMERGENCY!" Said a gruff sounding voice.
Soon there were many bolts and locks undone. And a man peeled out the door...
"What the hell! Go away get that beast away from here!"
"That beast saved Steve's life!" Bucky said.
"Very well then but if that thing bites or even so much as looks at me the wrong way, you are out of here!" Said the man opening the door wider, ushering us in with suspicious looks both ways. And shuts the door and bolts the door.
"Now what do we have here?" The man said looking at Bucky completely ignoring Steve.
"The wol-" Steve started.
"Yes, yes, the wolf, something is wrong with the wolf. What's wrong Bucky?!" Said the man.
"Stitch, please have some manners towards Steve... The wolf has a cut on its paw. We were hoping you could disinfect and bandage it." Said Bucky.
"Fine... but only because you're a friend." He said.
I whimpered, the pain etching at my mind. I could easily heal if I shifted back but I couldn't risk it. There are scientists everywhere. No matter what time or era we are in there will always be scientists.
The man got some paroxide and poured it on the wound. I growled.
"Hold her down!" Said the man.
Steve grabbed my neck trying to hold me down and calm me at the same time. I let out a high pitch whimper. What seemed like hours was really only five minutes.
"And DONE!" Said Stitch.
I quickly wrestled to my feet causing everyone to jump back in alarm. I ruffled my hair. And walked up to 'Stitch'.
"Easy now, easy!" He said panicked.
I got up to him and licked his face.
"Okay, Okay! Eww! I get it! You're welcome!"
Steve and Bucky laughed.
Then Bucky voices the question that had been in the back of their minds.
"How is this wolf so... so tame?!" He asked.
Steve and Stitch looked at each other both puzzled as they wondered the same thing.
I limped to the door and began scratching... and I whined. And looked back at the humans. They knew what I wanted and seemed not to want to let me go...
All three of them began walking toward me. My back against the door. I growled at them telling them to back off... suddenly they flinched back. I howled knowing my pack would hear me even if they were miles away.

                     -3rd pov-
Iris was sniffing the ground for tracks of any wounded animals when she heard her sister's call. Iris howled signaling for the rest of the pack which was basically just the mother and Alexander. The others howled back telling her they were coming. As soon as they others had joined Iris. She nodded her head toward the others and began running and tracking Darcy.
          -about 30 minutes later-
Iris has tracked Darcy into an alley. They used the cover of darkness to shift back into their human form. Alexander was the only one who remained in his wolf form.
Alexander finished tracking Darcy to an abandoned building. He growled smelling three human presences. Joanna (the mother) kicked down the door.
Three human heads jerked toward the sound, seeing a woman having just kicked down the bolted door. Their mouths hung open in shock.
Joanna, Iris, and Alex the wolf stepped into the building. Alex growled at them and Joanna said, "Where's Darcy?!"
"Who?" Bucky spoke.
Alex snarled at him, ready to pounce.
"Don't play stupid with me, boy!" Said Joanna viciously.
"Uh excuse me, ma'am?" Steve spoke up.
Joanna turned her attention o the young man. "What is it? Speak!"
"We don't know anyone by the name of Darcy ma'am so with all due respect.." he looked at Alex hesitantly. "Could you please call off your... Uh.. wolf?"
Alex sensing Steve's hesitation, leaped in the air to topple the young man. But before he could do so, Darcy in her wolf form came out and tackled him, snapping her jaws at his neck. Snarling at him sending growls his way as she pinned him down.
Joanna gasped, "Darcy enough! What is it that has made you turn against your own family?"
"This uh... wolf is... Darcy?" Stitch asked.
Joanna's haze snapped toward Stitch practically sending him death glares.
Her gaze went back to Darcy who then released Alex of the hold she had on him. Backing away to stand by Steve's side.
"Well young lady?!" Anyone could tell Joanna was beyond pissed.

                  -Iris' POV-
Darcy looked at me with pleading eyes and she communicated telepathically,
'Please get them to leave. I will come with you but we need to shake these humans off of our trail so I can shift back. Once I shift back I will explain everything. I promise!'
'Fine but you better! Mom is already throwing a fit. You better be glad you can't see her mind right now... you're in for it big time sis...' I told her.
She tucked in her tail, bowing her head down. Darcy led the way out the door. Mom, Alex and I followed after. I was the last one out the door and said to the humans...
"Sorry for disturbing you and please don't mind us. If we meet in the future I hope it will be under better circumstances." I said running after my family.

-age 5 (human years)-
-walking to our cabin in woods 1919-
_______________________________
"Mother! Why do we live so long?!" I asked.
"We are not human my dear..." mommy said.
"I know but... mommy how can we be wolves and look like humans?" I asked.
"Darling your father" she said with extreme distaste, " gave us these... these gifts..."
"Mommy why do you hate daddy so much?!" Curiosity showed on my face.
"Listen to me,_________ , and listen well. Your father is not a good man." My mother sighed, "He is the very definition of evil! Just remember that you have control of who you are and who you want to be... No matter what forces may be at work you make your own path my dear..."
"Yes mommy..." I nodded my head.

-Age 11 year 1930-
"Momma! Why do the boys always get more opp-oppos- oppt- oppor-...." I struggled trying to say the word.
"Opportunities?"
"Uh-huh!"
"Alright say it after me. Op-poor-tune-it-tees."
"Op-poh-two-tin-knees!"
"Almost there try again."
"Op-poor-two-nits"
Again
"Op-poor-tune-ninnies!"
Once more
"Op-poor-tune-it-tees!" My eyes grew wide and I began to jump up and down in excitement. "I did it mommy! I did it!"
"Yes you did sweety! Now let's go get a treat!"

-age 15 year 1935-
"Mom why do we age so slow?" I said walking alongside my mother in the market.
"So we can stay inconspicuous" mother whispered.
"What does that mean again?" I asked confusedly.
"To stay out of the spotlight, to remain unseen, to go unnoticed." Mother told me.
"Okay but why? Why do we have to stay hidden?" I said slightly becoming upset.
"Darling by now you know what we are. We can not just go out into the open and expect the humans to accept us the way we are. If we don't stay hidden some humans may even wish to do us harm, and experiment on us!" She said with urgency in her voice.
"I understand..." I sighed.

            -Age 17 year 1937-
My mother and I were now in America, New Jersey To Be exact. We had our own private property, and my mother had found a mate. She has the power to make others of our kind. As American folklore would call us werewolves. But my mother and I prefer the term "Shaydes".  My mother's mate's name is Alexander Dolohov. He was a former Russian spy and assassin. My mother soon found out she was unable to give birth to anymore pups. I was the only one. She was scared that Alexander would leave her because of this. But in fact the opposite was true.
He had said he loved her and that I was enough. He was like a father figure although I never really call him dad. But after a while I came around to the idea. Our newly formed family decided to call my biological father, "Father" and I just call Alex "dad" or y'know his name.
One day while we were hunting in the woods, we heard howls of pain and grief. We began running toward the sound and found a wolf cub howling by its mothers side. The mother had blood on her coat and wasn't breathing. She was dead. My mother found this as a blessing for her, but a tragedy for the cub.
The cub was a little girl. In which mother named Iris. Mother gave Iris the ability to shift between forms just as the rest of us did. We gave her mother a proper burial, and allowed Iris to say her goodbyes. She was hesitant at first. Very shy, easily intimidated, and very scared. Soon she realized we were not the enemy and we were going to be there for her. We were a family.
When she shifted for the first time we could finally see how old she was. She had the physical appearance of a seven year old girl. Her hair was medium length and auburn. She had yellowish hazel eyes and a few freckles here and there. She was adorable to say the least. We quickly bonded. We were inseparable as sisters and even more so as friends.
She had that kind of feeling that whenever you're around her, you could talk about anything. She had a bubbly personality and yet she was still very cautious. She didn't trust people easily and if she ever felt like you threatened her or her family, she would not back down without a fight.
As the years passed by things began to change. The pack would often get into argument on where we should relocate to next. It all came down to where we've already been, the weather, and the people there. Our next destination would be Brooklyn, New York. I was the least excited about the move. I mean really Brooklyn?
What I didn’t know was: when the seasons change people often change with them...

Introduction
It was just another stormy night for a little female wolf cub. Her mother was out hunting for food while she was huddled all the way back in the cave, whimpering at every lightning strike and clap of thunder. Just then she heard her mothers howl, signaling to her that her mother was on her way back with the prey.
When her mother got back she nudged the food to her cub. The pup ate her fill and nudged it back to her mother. Lightning struck at the ground a few yards away from their den. And unbeknownst to them a dark creature had been sent by its master to make more chaos. The creatures name was: Ilverbane.
The demon of incurable curses. He had had his sights on the young cub and its mother since before it was born. King Lucifer had come to earth himself in the form of a wolf and impregnated the mother resulting in the birth of the cub. Lucifer has sent Ilverbane to complete the process by hmaking the mother a demon as well. Except this time the mother would be able to shape shift into a human and back into a wolf at will. The cub already possessed the power to do so but just needed a bit of help as well. This was 45 years before the Avengers initiative would be put into place, starting with Captain America.

Born To Be Winter: A Summary
Reika Dolohov aka Darcy. She was a girl gifted with a curse at birth. Being Satan's daughter was NOT as awesome as you'd think. You'd think the devils daughter would have awesome cool powers, be able to control demons, be the princess of hell, the ultimate seductress, right?
WRONG!!! It was horrible. For one she didn't really know her father. All she knew was that he was the literal devil and a extremely bad man. He had sent a demon to "gift" her mother with the same abilities she was born with. Being born a wolf did have its perks though.
Her father had visited earth as a wolf and impregnated her mother, thus conceiving an heir for the throne of Hell. Soon their family grew into a pack. Her mother was the only one who was able to create more of their kind.
When one day she finds a boy who is practically helpless. Getting beat up in back alleys, constantly trying to enlist in the military, standing up for what he believes in... you get the point. She steps in and attacks one of the assailants. She gets hurt in the process and that's just the beginning of the long journey that awaits...
After casting a shadow upon a human, her family forbids her from seeing him again. This makes the rage inside her grow vicious. She decides to follow in her brother's footsteps and be a lone wolf.
She soon goes to meet an old friend but when she arrives she is faced with her brother instead. And so the two lone wolves are lone no longer. Soon her and her brother cross paths with Bucky and Steve once more. Nathaniel just now meeting the two is clueless as to how they know Darcy.
She makes a mistake when addressing Bucky in her human form that may or may not be irrevocable. But that was in the 1940's.
Later after Bucky becomes the Winter Soldier, we see Darcy teaming up with Natasha Romanoff.  The two become good friends but when her secrets are revealed is she ready for what's to come? Will the Avengers accept her for who she is or will they reject her for what she (is and) was?
