My last book haul of 2023 and I'm pretty excited to read all of them! 🥰
One of my personal challenges is to reduce the number of books I buy by focusing on reading the embarrassing amount of books I already own. For every 3 - 4 books I currently have and read, I can buy 1 new book. The exception I'm making is manga since I go through those quicker so every 2 volumes I finish, I can get either 1 - 2 new volumes.
I don't know, I think this is fair? What do you think?

2023 Reading Challenge
16/16 books read. Instead of reposting the 15 books I'd read when I posted this I figured it was more logical to just add the 16th book in a reblog. Technically, I've read like 19 books, but the three extra I read I forgot to put down a start and end date when I finished them, sooo... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I have a hardcover edition of Belladonna, but recently found this paperback edition with lovely purple edges! Very excited to start reading this today. 😁

Can anyone tell me how to do these two things?
How can I turn off or hide the Tumblr Live feed at the top of the page? I keep seeing stills of unwanted bootys and very suggestive content.
How the heck can I get rid of ghost notifications? I have a notif in my Activity section, but when I click on the associated blog there's nothing in the list?

I do like me some soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies, but I also like the chocolate chip and M&M cookies, too.
Bonus question: What’s your favorite cookie?

Suburban Hell by Maureen Kilmer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I don't often write reviews for the books I read. Every time I complete one, I rate it and move on to the next book on my TBR. This one, however, a written review felt warranted.
It would be a lie if I didn't say that when I read the back of Suburban Hell that it screamed "chick-lit" with a side of horror thrown in for laughs. I also won't lie and admit that I really prefer my media content to be a little more gritty and hard-boiled than touchy-feely. Most of what I read involves some sort of detective in a world of vampires, werewolves, and witches. They don't normally involve a friend-group of suburban moms who accidentally unleash a demon upon themselves after breaking ground for their She Shed. At that point I suspect a lot of you might think wacky and silly hi-jinks ensued... but you'd be wrong.
My preconceptions of the book is what I think made the actual horror content of it all the more unsettling. I don't normally have a problem reading horror books day or night, but frequently throughout the book I'd tell myself, "Dang, this is like reading a horror movie!" And could only read this while at work on my lunch breaks.
If you like your horror with a small side of humor, then this book is definitely a 10/10 would recommend.

My book haul over the past month. I already know one of the books I'm gonna suggest for July's book club! 😊

This past week's focus was Kerri Maniscalco's Kingdom of the Cursed. I don't think I did too bad for my first week! 😄

Updated 5/10/23: I found yet another small stack and added it to the list.
These are all the BOTM books I own. The intent when I signed up for BOTM back in 2020 was to try and read out of my usual comfort zone of Urban Fantasy (and the occasional fantasy book). My success with this challenge has been minimal — I started a couple of these books but ultimately didn't finish them. It wasn't because the books were boring, however. I was enjoying the couple I started, but I just ended up falling out-of-the-mood to read them.
The biggest problem I'm facing is just where to start with this massive (and ever growing) stack. Every single one of these books sounds amazing and interesting to read, but... I don't where to start! So I'm turning to you, members of Booklr, to help me choose which of these books to read next! These are stacked in no particular order, but for anyone that's having difficulty with images loading or can't see the images, here is a list for you:
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo*
Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo
A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross
Outlawed by Anna North
A Good Marriage by Kimberly McCreight
The Only Survivors by Megan Miranda
The Dating Plan by Sara Desai
Home Before Dark by Riley Sager
Like A Sister by Kellye Garrett
The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson
The Verifiers by Jane Pek
The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St. James
The Survivors by Jane Harper
Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins
The Bodyguard by Katherine Center
Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn
The Family Game by Catherine Steadman
The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah
The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins
Breathless by Amy McCulloch
Girl, Forgotten by Karin Slaughter
Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney
Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang
The London Séance Society by Sarah Penner
The Wilderwomen by Ruth Emmie Lang
Darling Girl by Liz Michalski
The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz
The Last Word by Taylor Adams
The Last Flight by Julie Clark
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian
*This copy of Ninth House is not a BOTM book, I included it in the stack because it's the first in a series.

I just started reading this today so I’m not very far into it--about 4 chapters--and I kind of like it so far, but I have a feeling I’m not going to like the main character very much.
