July Wrap-Up
Hey guys! I am doing the july wrap up, a few days late. July has been a good reading month compared to June. Still, I am not quite pleased with the amount of books I`ve read this month. My TBR is piling up, and I keep orderng new books (shame on me). A huge TBR is not something that I want, so I have tried to catch up with the books I have owned for a while. The total of books read in july was 6.
Books read in July:
Fangirl- Rainbow Rowell | June 29th- July 4th
Bossman- Vi Keeland | July 5th
The way I used to be- Amber Smith | July 6th- July 12th
Anna and the french kiss- Stephanie Perkins | July 12th- July 14th
Isla and the happily ever after- Stephanie Perkins | July 15th
Wish you were here- Renee Carlino | July 15th- July 17th

Making Faces- Review
Tumblr media
Edition: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30027407-making-faces| Publisher: Spencer Hill Press | Pages: 310 | Rating: ★★★★☆  | Read: June 23rd - June 24th.
Synoposis:
Ambrose Young was beautiful. He was tall and muscular, with hair that touched his shoulders and eyes that burned right through you. The kind of beautiful that graced the covers of romance novels, and Fern Taylor would know. She'd been reading them since she was thirteen. But maybe because he was so beautiful he was never someone Fern thought she could have...until he wasn't beautiful anymore. Making Faces is the story of a small town where five young men go off to war, and only one comes back. It is the story of loss. Collective loss, individual loss, loss of beauty, loss of life, loss of identity. It is the tale of one girl's love for a broken boy, and a wounded warrior's love for an unremarkable girl. This is a story of friendship that overcomes heartache, heroism that defies the common definitions, and a modern tale of Beauty and the Beastwhere we discover that there is little beauty and a little beast in all of us.
Review:
I was really looking forward to reading this book and I finally found it cheap. The thing about this book that pulled my rating down is that I don’t see what the message is. At first, I thought the message was that beauty cannot be defined. Everything is beautiful, whether it’s on the outside or inside. As I said, I thought this was the message, but the characters are either described or they are saying they are ugly. This is what affected my 5 star rating to a 4 star rating.
I also felt like PTSD wasn’t represented the way I wanted. Somehow, the topic never came up, if you ignore that Ambrose reacted to triggering things, such as rooms where he spent a lot of time in, before going to war. Overall this was still a beautiful book and a sad one as well. I highly recommend this book. Its not going off my shelf before I have reread it, at least once!
“If God made all our faces, did he laugh when he made me? Does he make the legs that cannot walk and eyes that cannot see? Does he curl the hair upon my head 'til it rebels in wild defiance? Does he close the ears of a deaf man to make him more reliant? Is the way I look a coincidence or just a twist of fate? If he made me this way, is it okay, to blame him for the things I hate? For the flaws that seem to worsen every time I see a mirror,For the ugliness I see in me, for the loathing and the fear. Does he sculpt us for his pleasure, for a reason I can't see? If God makes all our faces, did he laugh when he made me?” - Amy Harmon, Making Faces

The one we fell in love with- Review
Tumblr media
Edition:   https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29283036-the-one-we-fell-in-love-with | Publisher:  Simon and Schuster UK | Pages: 416 | Rating: ★★★☆☆  | Read: June 2nd - June 8th.
Synoposis:
Phoebe is caught between a rock and a hard place. Settle down and get married, or return to the French Alps to pursue her passion? Eliza is in love with someone who is no longer hers. In fact, he probably never was… And her dream of becoming a successful musician seems to be vanishing before her eyes. Rose is out of a job and out of a boyfriend. To make matters worse, she’s been forced to move back in with her mother… But these very different girls have one thing in common. Angus. The one they fell in love with…
Review:
I was quite disappointed. Last year, I read “The last piece of my heart” by Paige Toon. Therefore, I wanted to read another book of hers. Sadly, it did not live up to my expectations. First and foremost, I did not like the characters.
The only character I had some empathy with was Rose. In my opinion, she was the only character that had a great development. Overall, I felt like Eliza was acting quite immature.
There is a time- jump in this book, which isn’t addressed. That is the reason why I didn’t understand anything. (Part two is the time-jump) If the author had made that clearer, I would’ve enjoyed the book a bit more.
The ending was predictable and open. I felt like I didn’t get any answers at all, like I feel a contemporary romance should give. I did not see the point to have Phoebe and Rose as main characters. The story revolves mostly around Angus and Eliza.
Overall, this was an okay read, not good, but not bad either. I have not given up on Paige Toon yet.
“Prince charming doesn`t always come in the package you`re expecting. When you meet someone you really, really like - possibly, likely love- then you`d be stupid not to see where it leads”- The one we fell in love with, Paige Toon

Beautiful DISASTER- Review
Tumblr media
Edition: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15766898-beautiful-disaster | Publisher:  Simon and Schuster UK | Pages: 418 | Series: Beautiful #1 | Rating:  ★★★★☆    | Read: May 26th - May 31st.
Synoposis:
GOOD GIRL Abby Abernathy doesn't drink or swear and she works hard. Abby believes she has buried her dark past, but when she arrives at college, ger dreams of a new beginning are quickly challenged by the university's walking one-night stand. BAD BOY TRavis Maddox, sexy, built, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs - and wants - to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight club, and his days as the notorious college Lothario. IMMINENT DISASTER? Intrigued by Abby's resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain celibate for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in travis's apartment of trh same amount of time. OR THE START OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL? Either way, TRavis has no idea that he has met his match. Or that this is the start of an obsessive, intense relationship that will lead them both into unimaginable territory.
Review:
I am a sucker for cute romances, but I think that this went a little overboard. Abby and Travis`s relationship was cute at first, but as the story progressed, I got more and more annoyed. I absolutely HATE ; “I didn’t know love until I met you”. This is the story about 18-19 year olds and I don’t think that you have found the one at that age. I am not saying that it is impossible, it just seemed unrealistic to me that they discussed the topics they were discussing at such a young age, especially that early in their relationship.
I also struggled with some parts of the book where I thought they were going back and forth, but overall I enjoyed it. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I though I would, but It was a good read.
“I knew the second I met you that there was something about you I needed. Turns out it wasn’t something about you at all. It was just you.” - Beautiful disaster, Jamie Mcguire

Forbidden- Review
Tumblr media
Edition: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7600924-forbidden  | Publisher: Definitions | Pages: 418 | Rating: ★★★★★ | Read: May 21st- May 25th.
Synoposis:
She is pretty and talented - sweet sixteen and never been kissed. He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future. And now they have fallen in love. But... they are brother and sister. Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives—and the way they understand each other so completely—has also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending.
Review:
I am not okay. This book is going to be so hard to review.
This is an absolutely beautifully written story. I am not saying that I condone in incest, but this story is not portraying Maya and Lochans story as a love story. Not only is It sad and heartbreaking, but also insightful. It shows what can happen with lack of adequate care. They love each other, the way a child deserves to be loved by a parent. I think that they found comfort in each other and with acting as parents, the feelings grew. The feelings grew into something siblings should not have towards each other.
The thing I liked about this book is that the author addressed how wrong incest is and she did not try to make this a book about romance, even though it contains a “love story”. Their love is wrong, and they are fully aware of it.
This book was a 4- star rating until the last few chapters. The ending is just horribly sad, but so beautiful. Therefore, I chose to give it 5 stars instead. Not many books make me cry, but this really did. I predicted the ending, but it was not that AT ALL. I am heartbroken, and this is one of my new favorite books, ever.
I cannot put my feelings about this into words. Sorry about this shitty review but read the book if you can handle themes such as incest.
This book is not suitable for younger readers or younger readers might find this book triggering.
“Only with Maya can I really be myself. We share the burden together and she is always on my side, by my side. I dont`t want to need her, to depend on her, but I do, I really do.” - Forbidden, Tabitha Suzuma (Page 61)

First post!
Heya! As you are probably going to notice quite fast; English is not my first language. Therefore, I am asking you to take this into consideration before you judge my language. Ignore my spelling and grammar as well. Thanks!
Let`s get started!
On this account I will be reviewing books that I have read or currently reading. In addition to this, I will recommend books. Just take notice that I prefer Contemporary. With that being said; I have read some dystopian and I own some fantasy books, but that isn’t really my genre. This means that I wont be able to recommend any fantasy books.
Hopefully you guys will enjoy the blog.
