I wanted to tell you again, how very happy I am with the Celebradiation piece you did for me! I love it so much. I hadn't changed my phone background in years, but this is now the new background :)

Separate from that, I just - the details in this, the love and care put into all of it - I've been looking at this every day since you released it. The ruffles and fur on Willow's collars. The expressions on both him and the chicken he's holding. The silver bangles!

Beckett and the hen eyeing each other. Beckett's jeans and the folds and shading. The cozy background. I just love all of this so much.

I’m glad you also picked up on the chicken and Beckett having a stare down. Raising some myself means I have a great window into chicken personality, and I love how quizzical and intelligent they are. It’s part of why that little detail in the prompt pulled me in right away! Willow understands the depths of chicken companionship. And you know Beckett is getting his head pecked at for insinuating the birds might be dinner.

Finally coming back to this after running around showing my friends. I still can’t get over how lovely the way you draw hands is and the casual curve of his thumb on the hand resting over his thigh. And I especially love the little pinky up as he tips back his drink.

One of my favorite parts about this is that I’ve just casually been calling his brand of alcohol “Jimbooze” and you ended up filling in the blank spaces of unique names for different kinds of drinks! And I love the repurposed nuka cola bottles for the Frog Grog! You put so much care and love into making each one unique in design and it fits perfectly with the kind of wild drinks you can get from the Nukashine quest and subsequent dailies in Fallout 76.

Also the “What’re you drinkin’?” line really makes me imagine this being a promotional ad for his home brews and that fits so well in the fallout universe given the abundance of cool posters.

I hope the crazy schedule of your life falls into place soon, and thank you so much for drawing him again!! Made my night!

23. More fan art or more original art?

This one is so hard to answer because most of the art I make and post is commission work. But seeing as everyone gives me such a wide range of uniquely designed original characters to draw for my work, I’m gonna go with original over fan art!

27. Typical number of layers in a digital piece?

For small, simple pieces that don’t include backgrounds, the range is anywhere between 5-30 depending on how heavy I go with shading and light effects. For full scenes, my layer amount skyrockets into the 150s-200s very quickly. I’m saved from my own madness only by the group/folder function my program has so I can condense it all and not scroll infinitely to find the layer I need while working.

My Celebradiation ‘24 exchange partner was @the-laridian! All of the requested characters were delightful, but as a huge Fallout 76 fan myself and an owner of over a dozen chickens, I couldn’t help but be enamored by Willow’s relationship with his hens. Even if Beckett does struggle with understanding 2 chickens for dinner vs a sustainable source of omelettes and scrambled eggs for years to come.

20. What is the easiest thing for you to draw?

The easiest thing for me to draw are hands and noses! But when I think about my skill set in comparison to what a lot of my artist friends excel at, my strong suit that stands out is drawing robots/power armor/machinery. The geometry just makes sense to me, especially the more I actually do mechanical work on trucks and figure out how everything fits and moves together.
